Alpha Hotel Canberra

We stayed on 07 & 08 July 2025 and had a pleasant and comfortable stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy, and well looked after. The staff were very professional, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, which really made a positive impression. One small drawback was the absence of a microwave in the room, which would have been convenient especially for families or longer stays. Despite that, the overall experience was excellent, and I would gladly recommend this hotel to others looking for good service and a clean, friendly environment.

Reception was prompt. Our family room was quite big with 2 adjecent rooms. Parking was easy. Cleanliness was fine. Location was good, as it is close to a small mall.

We stayed here for 6 days. Front desk man did not let us use conveyer toastster and made us use one behind front desk kept saying you can't use that a mil times. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 109 because the lighting is poor doesn't have a kitchen. They don't have a breakfast lunch or dinner meal service but they have a giant dining room and kitchen. Spa has no water and sauna is weird. We couldn't work any TV's and there were people running and racing in corridor while sleeping. People thumping around in the rooms in the first floor all night. And the staff were not helpful. No one uses gym smells bad and bathroom door in coridoor has so heavy doors Washing machine cost $6. Dryer also cost $6. DONT STAY HERE

I must admit, we got a very good deal, $200 for two nights on Labor Day weekend, for a room at this hotel. However, I wonder why they give us a room that outlooks to a ladder, a fence, and some electric meters. Otherwise, clean hotel, comfy bed, nice and bright. Maybe only the room we got, the fittings seemed dated. Breakfast was extra so we ate out. I know they are going to say, “why didn’t you tell us”, but why should we have to. Put your best foot forward for every customer.

Great rooms and very clean. Receptionists are very kind and accommodating. Rooms are missing a microwave, but otherwise no complaints.

Comfortable Stay with a Minor Issue. We had a nice and comfortable stay, especially considering that the hotel is 30 years old. The location is excellent—just a few minutes’ walk to South Point Shopping Centre. Overall, everything was good, but the wash basin in the bathroom was too low. If you’re above 170 cm, you might experience back pain after using it. Even at 160 cm, I found it uncomfortable. It would also be great if they added a capsule coffee machine in the room and provided some bottled water for added convenience. Aside from these points, the stay was pleasant.

Do not book here. Terrible, outdated rooms, freezing cold in the middle of winter and no working heater, mismatch of 80s furniture, no facilities to make food, kettle is cheap plastic. Service is friendly but this hotel should not be in service and should not be charging customers the prices they do.

My elderly husband stayed 2 nights 4/5 June and was very happy with the effort the staff went too to make sure he was well taken care of and I have to mention the pleasant gentleman who took the booking couldn’t have been more helpful
