Alpha Street Kitchen & Bar

I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of my dinner at Alpha Street. Notably, the service was excellent, felt very attentive and natural. Did not wait long for our food and drinks. All meals were great, especially the lamb dish. Catered to my allergy with no hesitation. Would highly recommend.

This was our first time to the Alpha Street Kitchen. We had quite a long wait for our meals but when they eventually arrived the waitress gave us a genuine apology for the delay with an explanation, which we appreciated. Then she offered a free dessert as a goodwill gesture. We were most impressed. The food was delicious and presented nicely, the atmosphere warm and welcoming. We will definitely be dining here again and will highly recommend this restaurant to our friends.

This place is fabulous! We went there on 30th September about 3pm. Small plates were delicious, wine and beer great. Service and atmosphere was wonderful. Can't wait to return

We’ve been to Alpha St Kitchen before and always enjoyed it as a small group. This time we had booked for just over 40 people to celebrate our Mother’s 80th birthday. Staff had suggested platters to share & a set menu. The staff were so easy to deal with and very accommodating (particularly with dietary restrictions/requirements) it really made for a superb experience. Everyone raved about how wonderful it was. Thank you Alpha St Kitchen!!

Mid afternoon meal so only small plates and desserts available BUT waitress did ask chef if he would make a main dish if we wanted this and he agreed. We had 3 small plates and a salad between 2. Green curry prawn toast (unusual but delicious), really soft calamari,beef skewers and a croquettes salad (so tasty). Overall excellent meal.

Celebrating our daughters 38 years since her second liver transplant in Cambridge UK. So only fitting that we return to this Restaurant. It was very good. Great wait, staff, and excellent food. Well done team.

A 5 star review is rare from me. The owner chef totally deserves this. Bringing this restaurant back to it's former glory has taken time after it going through 3 owners. The Angus steak meal was so unique with so many layers of flavour I have to tip my hat off to him. Lovely warm pleasing decor and coffee and desert absolutely perfect. Ok so what can they improve on. Easy ..go and see Bootleg brewery and Hopnotic and do a deal on craft beer supply. Your rather light on the options here. Lovely place. Excellent guy behind the bar. Huge selection of craft beers so I tried one from Napier with some beer fries. Gotta say they get chops for presentation Flashiest aoli fries I've had.

Went here for a dessert night with the wifey. Ordered the affogato and got served the smallest scoop of ice cream I’ve ever had for an affogato, pretty confident there was more coffee shot than ice cream, - so portion value for money didn’t feel like it was there.

We were looking for a place to have a late lunch after hiking and found the Alpha St. We were so lucky! The wait staff were very welcoming with lovely demeanors. The scallops and squid were the absolute best we have tasted! The scallops were served on scallop shells with a dollop of cauliflower and Granny Smith apple purée. The squid was lightly salted and peppered and served over a kiffir lime and yuzu mayo purée. Both dishes were succulent and perfectly prepared. We ate them so quickly we neglected to take a photo of them before enjoying them. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I am surprised at the tepid ratings for this place so far. My wife and I had dinner there about 3 weeks ago and were impressed. The only minor criticsm that some of the tables near the entrance were subject to a cool air flow the night we were there so that we requested, and were given, a different table. That fixed the problem. The place was full. The food was excellent and the wine list not bad. If I could, I'd give it 4.5. We'll go back.

Sadly the Alpha Street Kitchen isn't what it used to be. My last experience there was not pleasant, from start to finish. The Snapper was dry, my partners pasta dish tasted like canned tomato sauce, and my dessert was very 'commercial' (versus what you'd expect from a higher end restaurant). Sadly, even the service was less than desirable. All in all a bad night out at a very high price. Sorry.

Smoked potato ravioli and the line caught fish and chips are some of the dishes they are famous for. Beautiful ambience, very nice service and everything was delicious. Beautiful old building... Make sure to experience the restrooms.
