We spent the last stop of our honeymoon at the Alpina Eclectic Hotel in Chamonix and stayed for four nights – and it could not have been a better choice. The location is simply perfect, right in the heart of Chamonix. Although the hotel offers its own parking, we found the Mont Blanc parking garage just two minutes away very convenient. The room was spotless, and the breathtaking view of the Mont Blanc massif made every morning special. Cleanliness, friendliness, and helpfulness were at the highest level and really made us feel welcome. A special thanks to Daniel, who looked after us so kindly upon arrival, from sharing tips for activities to offering umbrellas on the one rainy day, he and the whole team were always attentive and warm. As dog owners, we were also impressed by the hotel’s pet-friendliness: our dog received his own bed and bowls, and unlike in many other hotels, he was even allowed to join us for breakfast – a rare and wonderful gesture. Speaking of breakfast, it was outstanding: freshly made omelets, crêpes, perfectly flaky croissants, and a wide variety of cereals, nuts, and berries. We felt completely at home and truly appreciated the combination of excellent service, comfort, and unforgettable mountain views. This was the perfect end to our honeymoon, and we will definitely be coming back!

Another great stay at the hotel, from check in to check out. Staff on reception were really friendly, especially David who was really nice. We were upgraded which was a nice surprise. Room is spacious, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, having a little fridge is great and the tea/coffee making facilities are spot on. Plenty of storage for belongings. The only things we would change is the shower pressure which is a little weak, balcony floor could do with a resurface as its looks a bit dirty from wear, but these are small things that didn't affect our overall enjoyment of the hotel, its our 4th time here and will definitely be back again!

We stayed for total of 3 days, service was good however the hotel was very crowded and it takes you 20mins at least to see a receptionist. Rooms were in a bad condition and honestly i don’t know from where to start, showers don’t have a shampoo (for environment huh), and the floor and coffee machine were not in a good condition, the bed was the WORST and their pillows is another story, we took the king size bed however they gave us double mattresses and they pushed them next to each other which was not comfortable at all. The floor mattress were supper thirty it has multiple stains (dogs are allowed so am not sure if its by dogs) The room smells bad Honestly the only great thing was the location however not worth it and i won’t be coming back.

Google
location is excellent and room modern. Staff were friendly. Room was modern but smell too strong perfume. No air conditioning, too hot sometimes and cant adjust the room temperature. Very noisy from the pub outside . We stayed on 6th floors and too noisy for people walking on the top of restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast was very good and the chef makes a lovely omelette.

My partner and I stayed here after submitting Mount Blanc, and we couldn’t have been more catered for! The staff were excellent, and attentive. They helped us with a private transfer for Zermatt after our stay and were always willing to help with any queries we had. The rooms were comfortable and quirky. The whole interior decor is funky and cool. The breakfast is amazing with a wide variety of foods available. The chef is fantastic and can cook a fresh omelette or pancake etc etc which were DELICIOUS. The views on the 7th floor for breakfast are fantastic. Overall, our experience was 12/10. I’d recommend staying here !!

Google
The rooms are too small but well organized and clean, even the coolers in the room in the hot summer exist. The view from the room was amazing, the staff in the reception were nice and helpful with free checkout due to late check in because the room wasn’t ready on time, at the end of the stay we left the hotel happy for the comfortable stay.

After hiking the TMB for 4 nights, this spa-hotel was pure luxury! There was a blip with check-in (mistakes happen), but it was sorted promptly and with courtesy - and on that basis, the hotel staff - especially Ana and housekeeping - deserves extra credit! The breakfast is fantastic too. Thank you

Google
Alpina Eclectic was very clean, great location and had everything we needed easily accessible. It was a wonderful way to end our family hike of the Tour du Mont Blanc. Highly recommend a massage with Lucille. She was terrific.

Yelp
Second year staying here and the staff are so cold, arrogant, disorganized and unprofessional! Total disappointment and will not return! No managers so the young staff do not smile, say they don't have authority to fix their errors in assigning rooms, and are sooo unhelpful! Absolutely rude and the standard rooms are ridiculously small, dark and NO a/c for 2 people! Will NOT return!

Yelp
The rating of this hotel seems to be totally off - probably due to the hotel being renovated since 2018 (and name changed to Alpina Eclectic Hotel and Spa) but most reviews here are predated. Check other sites for more updated reviews. We've stayed here twice and it's now actually a very modern hotel with nice rooms, all with balcony and fantastic view. The breakfast - with egg and pancake station - is extra but absolutely worth it - it's on the top floor with a panoramic view of the town and mountains. Only thing is this being a ski area there is no air conditioning in the rooms in summer so it can get seriously hot and stuffy - they have tabletop fans but you have to ask (might have to do that a few times). Service is somewhat erratic and some staff lack basic knowledgable - for instance one has no idea that there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, let alone if you need any directions. That said, if you don't have much service related demands - this is a great place to stay for room comfort as well as location - walking distance to everything and a grocery store right next door.

Yelp
Rather disappointing, run-down hotel... I just completed a 5 night stay at the Hotel Alpina while attending a conference in Chamonix. This hotel has a lot of significant problems The ROOMS: Severely dated. Carpets date to the 1960's and not in any charming sort of way. Significantly warn and dated. Cracks in the ceiling. I pulled door knobs off the furniture, non-working safes. Old properties can be charming if cared for, but this building has been severely neglected. Beds are standard European twin-size (even if you get a King it's 2 twins)....avg comfort for Europe. The only saving grace is that it is relatively clean. BATHROOMS are in poor shape. My bathroom had no tub, so water flooded all over the bathroom floor. The only amenity provided is a very low-quality all-purpose shampoo/soap. The Wi-Fi: As a business traveler, Wi-Fi is important to me, but it's almost non-functional here. Coverage is very inconsistent....I had to sit on the floor next to the door to get any signal at all. Unreliable for Skype and slow. Requires frequent, annoying log-ons. Also a number of apps, VPN, etc. are blocked. NOISE: You can hear everything from the inside and from the outside. Lots of rooms have adjoining doors...I felt like I was participating in family life of the family in the room next door. Also you can hear all the street noise even with windows closed...with windows open quite loud (useful w/ no air conditioning). LOCATION is good and convenient to most attractions in Chamonix...Chamonix is small FYI. STAFF: The front desk staff are either indifferent, overworked, rude, or some combination of all 3. No friendly attitude. Usually only one person working which resulted in often 10-20 minute waits for attention. Careful with valuables...they will give out room cards for forgotten cards for any room without any examination of ID. The hotel seems to specialize in one-night visits by busload-size groups of Japanese tourists. I was very frustrated to have arrived at 8 AM and not be able to check-in until 4:30 because they are cleaning and servicing all these rooms. Especially after waiting so long, the group of 50 that arrived hours after me was instantly accommodated. OVERALL, I would rate the value of these rooms at absolutely no more than 50 Euros. It was so bad, I almost checked out and moved. The only thing keeping it from getting 1 star is that the views are nice and the hotel is relatively clean. There is absolutely no reason to choose this hotel. Hotel de l'Arve immediately next door, where many of my colleagues are staying, is far, far superior at similar rates.

Yelp
So much disappointment. My husband and I are on our honeymoon and currently staying at the property. I will never recommend this hotel nor will we ever be back. Ever single staff member we have encountered is beyond rude and it's such a shame considering the gorgeous location we are all in. Do better Hotel Alpina.

Yelp
Good: 1. The location is great, right in the middle of Chamonix and with multiple ski bus stops out front. 2. All the rooms seem to have good views, although the higher floors have the best. Mixed: 3. Service was uneven. The first front desk guy told us that our room wasn't ready yet (at 5:30 pm, when check-in is at 4:00pm) and seemed a bit clueless. Otherwise service was friendly enough, if not always super efficient. I did watch one front desk employee make phone calls rather than help the guy standing directly in front of him obviously needing assistance. 4. Only two of the six guest rooms floor have been renovated, the others are old-school (classic? old world charm? run down?). It doesn't sound like the renovations will be complete until much later this year, in the meantime, hope for a room on floor 1 or 2. 5. Their keycard system was down when we arrived, so for the first 24 hours everyone in the hotel had to be escorted to their room by a front desk employee to get into their rooms. The staff handled it politely, but they were short staffed and it was pretty inconvenient. It was fixed before we left, but based on other reviews the keycard system seems to be a persistent issue. Bad: 6. The parking garage is seriously tiny and weirdly laid out. Also, they charge you per calendar day, not per 24 hours, so even though my car was there less than 48 hours, I paid for three days of parking. 7. The mattresses (at least on the unrenovated floors) were brutally uncomfortable. 8. The pillows (on the unrenovated floors) were even worse; paper thin and entirely useless. Literally the worst hotel pillow I've ever had in my life. No joke. The location is ridiculous; if I had the money, I'd buy this place, renovate it into a luxury lodge, and make a killing. Until the renovation is complete, don't expect a great stay.

Yelp
This place best reminded me of Fawlty Towers. It was probably last re-done when the show came out also..... It's run-down, old-fashioned, run by a bunch of friendly but pretty useless staff and in general was just hilariously bad. ::::The room::::: Bare, old-fashioned and with very old bedding. The room didn't have a temperature control either which meant it was either boiling hot at night, in which case we have to wedge open the window with plastic cups or freezing cold. The bathroom also has no airing system so it was constantly damp in there. The plug doesn't fit properly which means your bath slowly disappears. :::::Service::::: It began by checking in where you're not allowed into your room until 4pm which is probably a little exaggerated. Then it's things like you go to ask about how to get to the nursery slopes or just anything and they know NADA about anything. Then we asked for extra pillows because there was just one, half dead pillow each and they firstly said that there was only one person in the whole hotel and so couldn't send someone up to deliver it. Then when we insisted after a couple of hours they gave us two miss-shaped pillows that didn't fit the pillow covers. ::::::Breakfast::::: This was actually ok. The food was fine, if not the finest breakfast ever experienced and the views are terrific from the 7th floor restaurant. Again, the service is not great and there's only tinned fruit on offer, you have to make your own pulpy orange juice etc. ::::::New Year 'Buffet':::::: That was an experience! Magician, three retired men playing Chris Rea and some over-dressed clientele who clearly mistook the Alpina as the Oscars. They also managed to ask for us to be there at 7.45pm and block the restaurant level on the elevator until 8pm which led to everyone going up and down in the lift until the receptionist informed us that they had shut the floor off and that then they'd open it. ::::Location::::: Great location, right near the centre. ::::Hygiene:::: Very clean and they came every day to change sheets etc. It's fine for a no frills stay somewhere cheap but really it needs a good renovation. Definitely don't go half-board there or expect a romantic atmosphere.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. I had a 4pm check in, which is already incredibly late. I showed up at 3:55pm only to be told that my room wasn't ready and I should check back in 10 minutes. After a confusing conversation with the receptionist who I kept telling her to speak louder (literally holding my hand up to my ear repeating, "I'm sorry, I still can't hear you") I finally find out where parking is and tell my friend where to park the car. The whole lobby is full as I imagine that other people were also not able to check into their rooms. After waiting THIRTY MINUTES in a lobby crowded with people I finally get up when there is an opening to ask about my room. Again, I cannot hear a word this girl is saying so the conversation takes longer than it should. I wake up refreshed and excited even though my room is the "Superior Family Room" and it could barely fit the luggage of me and my travel partner. I go to the elevator at 7am for breakfast (exactly when breakfast starts) and wait for the elevator. I press the button for the 7th floor and wait 3 minutes. I am taken to the 1st floor. I got off not paying attention and call another elevator. Wait another 5 minutes. Elevator takes me to the third floor. I don't get off and keep trying to reach the 7th floor. After a couple more minutes of frustration I took the stairs. The staircase I chose only went to the 6th door so I try the elevator again. Wait another couple minutes for the doors to open and THANK GOD I was finally taken to the 7th floor. This whole ordeal took 30 minutes. It took me 30 minutes to travel from my room on the 4th floor to the dining area on the 7th. Absolutely insane. Then when I asked, the manager of the restaurant told me that breakfast started at 7am and I was too early (as I am standing in front of him at 7:30am??) so I repeated my question and he then stated that I got on the wrong elevator. HOW?! He says they only unlock one in the morning, yet no one tells you that and when you call an elevator all of them come to get you SINCE THEY DONT KNOW THAT YOU WANT THE SEVENTH FLOOR UNTIL YOU'RE IN THE ELEVATOR. Just unreal. Absolutely unacceptable for the amount of money they charge for a room. And now I am dreading the checkout tomorrow as I know I will have to ask, "What?!" a hundred different times just to make sure I can leave.
