Old theater. Needs to be updated. The seats are ok. They didn’t play the beginning of the commercials. The bathrooms are old and dirty. The seats look like they are cushioned and falling, but they recline and hurt your back. The food is regular. Nothing to rave about they have a small party section for little kids. The ceiling is cool.

On a scorching hot day like today, the ac was a lifesaver! I can’t say much about the bathrooms, though. The popcorn was good, and the seats were comfortable. Overall, for the price, it’s a great local theater that doesn’t require a long commute to the city.

Google
If you’ve ever wanted to watch a movie and listen to a live podcast of strangers’ conversations at the same time, this is the theater for you! Every visit here comes with a bonus soundtrack of loud talking, phone scrolling, and general disregard for the fact that people paid to watch a film. Apparently, silence is optional, and management seems to be totally fine with that. Maybe consider a quick pre-show announcement reminding guests that they’re not in their living room? Just a thought. Until then, I’ll be taking my movie nights elsewhere — preferably somewhere quiet.

Great cinema, I’ve been here several times, especially for Ukrainian movies. It’s pretty good overall, the lines move quickly. The popcorn selection is small, but that’s not surprising for New York. As for burgers, hot dogs, or snacks, those options are much better. The downside is that there are no assigned seats when purchasing tickets. To get a good one, you need to arrive early and be at the front or middle of the line. Otherwise, if you’re going with a group and arrive late, you’ll likely have to sit in different parts of the cinema away from your friends.

Google
This cinema has been my conform place since I moved to Brooklyn. It is the best price of the area, the bus stops in front of the theater ✌🏻it has a good variety of food! what else are you asking for? For me it is enough, now that all cinemas are super expensive! I don’t complain for the restrooms because the responsibility of how clean they are also depends on the customers, so… for my this cinema is awesome!

Google
Not too bad, you buy paper tickets if the counter outside the theater to the left of the entry! There are a few standard options for snacks such as Popcorns as usual! However the Cinema inside, the rooms is not too fancy or modern, they have normal seats, Not Recliners and the Screens are not very good! Overall it's an okay Cinema for movies!

Google
Great thing about this theater is the matinee prices, you can't beat $7 bucks for a movie ticket in this DAY AND AGE!! By far one of the least expensive theaters. With that said, the seats aren't that comfortable and it's a bit too small and cramped for my taste. Sorry guys, please work on the UPKEEP A LITTLE MORE!! THANKS!!

Google
Haven't been here in a few years, but I'm not sure who is running the show. Showed up for a 1pm show, first show of the day, only to fined at 12:40 a line outside add the gate still down. At about 10 to someone rolled up the gate. I ordered my tickets online, thinking it would be quick, only to have to get on a line in the theater to scan my barcode for a paper ticket to print. What's the point of online payments to still wait in line for a paper ticket? The place was filthy! I mean filthy, like the floors of the lobby, were not mopped in, I don't know how long, carpeting leading to theaters absolutely filthy, and the walls were a nightmare!. Went to use the bathroom and water was everywhere on the floor. This was the first showing. it could not have been that much foot traffic. I give 2 stores for low ticket prices, and same for concession prices. Also, popcorn was really good. This used to be a really theater compared to the big corporate chains. Shame it's come to this. Owners either get a new manager or spend some money once a month for a deep clean. You should visit your own place of business to see what is going on.

Yelp
Happy birthday Cameron I passed by this location . I had a nice experience although it was long time ago . Average and overrated. a robbery

Yelp
The prices here are too reasonable to have any complaints. Ordered my tickets online, so that made it easy. Lucky thing, it was for Minecraft and it was sold out by the time we arrived. Concession moved quick, had some popcorn slushies and tried their empanadas (a pizza and a beef) pizza no good, beef decent. Staff was pleasant. One thing I can say, very messy, Popcorn everywhere. Again, I'm ok because price is right, theater and seats are spacious enough.

Yelp
This good and bad things about this place are how dirty the floor looks and the service is not great it's slow but not that slow. The good things about this place is the food and the movie theater also there couple fun things you can do. This place is a maybe it's not bad.

Yelp
Old school multiplex. Cheap matinee prices. Affordable concession stand. Was in theater 3 for a matinee of MaXXXine. Which was probably reminiscent of these type of theaters. Place seemed clean. Sound was good. AC worked good. Seats were comfy updated (rocking) style. Maybe 4 people total in the matinee. Didn't care for the neighborhood aspect around it and don't see myself going back.

Yelp
a classic bay ridge staple - have been coming here since a child great prices - hard to find parking tho!

Yelp
I like Alpine Cinema. It's a standard theater made accessible to a local neighborhood. It's not flashy or fancy, but there's plenty of leg room between the seats. The prices are very reasonable considering today's current rates nearing $20 for tickets. Alpine ticket prices are $11 for adults and they offer $8 matinee showings. The popcorn is $5 for a small and $8 for a large so you won't be breaking the bank by having a little snack from concessions. You'll have to check their website for movie showings as they usually have blockbusters up, but there may be an occasional indie film here and there for a week or day only. The lobby is pretty spacious and there is a semi-private section off to the side for events. There is usually a birthday party every weekend.

Yelp
My childhood movie theater. It is close to home in walking distance. The movies are the newest movies out with many showings. The theater has cleaned up alot and staff is there in between movies to make sure they keep it clean. My go to theater.
google avatar

Pamela E.

Yelp
This theater opened up in 1921 and they keep it beautiful. They redid all the seats so they are angled now and comfortable leather and the matinee is only $7 pp. Love it!!!
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
This movie theater is getting worse and and worse . They raised the prices. They had a line wrapped around the corner in the cold weather..
google avatar

Kristina W.

Yelp
The theater is old. Wednesday admission is $6 all day. Not the cleanest floors but the seats were comfy. Popcorn is good. Hot dogs are good. Local to Bay Ridge so it's very convenient.

Yelp
Alpine was my preferred theater growing up because it's a classic gem that felt like home whenever I would come to check out the latest movies. Then I got older and was seduced by dine-in and 4dx movie theaters so I eventually stopped going. Then I became a mom and my daughter got invited to her classmate's birthday party at Alpine theater. I got so nostalgic when we there and remembered why I used to love going there so much. Alpine is more than just a theater...it's about the full human connection you experience when you take a break from life and come to choose your adventure for the day depending on what they're showing that day. You have youngsters (I'm old) at the ticket booth and food stands serving you the old fashioned way like they do in the movies we grew up watching and offer just the classics in their menu. They also have these awesome plastic large popcorn buckets with the movie theme of the week. It comes along with a matching cup for just $15. And movie tickets continue being inexpensive...just $11 for adults. Alpine is prettier now because she recently got a makeover. The only complaint that I have is that for the last two times that I've gone, the lights have been turned on a few minutes before the movie has even ended, which kind of kills the vibe. I've come to the conclusion that it's because these movies were during the last showings and the staff just wants to go home.
google avatar

Iris H.

Yelp
A solid movie theater with the cheapest ticket prices for that area ($12/person) for a 4:30 showing. The theaters are all lined up down an aisle and they have your standard popcorn. The bathrooms were not well kept. The floors were wet and there was toilet paper everywhere, despite there being an attendant there at the time I went. I would go to another movie but will avoid using the restrooms in the future.

Yelp
As a kid I did not enjoy this place enough! Now as an adult whenever I find a film I'm dying to see me and my bff make time to have a movie date here on wednesday. $6 Wednesday special is just too good to pass up on! The concessions are very reasonably priced and the ambience of the place is very nolastagic to my earlier days there. It is nothing fancy but is surely a class movie theater! Also the trip is very convenient as the theater is near the R, b63, or b64. There is a wide range of storefronts near the movie theater so you can definitely plan a nice date there.

Yelp
I haven't been to this theatre in few years for reasons below...... I decided take my son today see 5 pm show thinking hoping maybe new management or cleaned up ....the theatre #8 was filthy the hallway filthy bathroom always filthy nothing has changed at all ya Neva again

Yelp
I have been coming to the Alpine since I was a young girl. The improvements they have made have been amazing and although I miss the old cozy features of what made Alpine... well, Alpine- I do however, appreciate the fact that the ticket is only $11.00 and the staff go above and beyond for their guest. From scanning your online confirmation barcode (to receive your paper ticket), concessions and ticket check you are treated with care and tremendous hospitality. Theaters are clean and seats are comfy! Tried to take photos, but my hands were full of snacks. What makes me happier is that the staff is made up of young adults from the local neighborhoods nearby. This means a lot to me as someone born and still located in the area.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
I like this movie theater. It is not fancy but has a good vibe and is kind of nostalgic. The prices are very reasonable ( a big plus), special discounts on Wednesday. No upscale decor but the quality of sound is very good. The staff is friendly.

Yelp
I love to support local businesses and am happy to see that this theater has made it for over 100 YEARS !!! Newly renovated the alpine is a great theater to catch a movie for one of the most affordable prices I've seen in all of nyc. A place where you can still enjoy an affordable night out. The theaters are clean and have seats are very comfortable.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice theater. The interior design has changed a lot since the last time I was here. Still the same old Alpine the moment you walk down to the theater rooms. Classic.

Amanda R.

Yelp
This is a nice local theater with cheap ticket prices- HOWEVER they REFUSE to open the theater until 15 minutes before the first show. This creates a needless bottleneck and gigantic crowd trying to buy tickets or use the ONE kiosk to redeem online ticket purchases. They send you a QR code but the ONE ticket checker doesn't have a QR code reader! Overall it's not managed well and they need to have better customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
They just redid a lot of the theater it looks so nice and going to look much better once complete they really cleaned it up. I just went yesterday, 10 bucks still, cheaper during the day, really enjoyed my time. The popcorn and soda was good. Very happy. It's so amazing to have a movie theater in walking distance. Id like to personally thank mr. Nicolau for saving the alpine, and the community, please continue to patronize and support the theater to make it better. I'd Also like to thank him for renovating it despite NYC trying to hit him with 330k of back taxes during covid, yep the city did that. Amazing place to bring kids

Yelp
Saw a movie at Alpine Theatre on Friday night. It brought back memories of visiting the worst and cheapest theater in town as a child, but mostly in a bad way. Quality: One of the cheapest tickets in town for a movie, and you get what you pay for. This is a spot to visit only if you can't get the date or time for the film anywhere else. They do have an odd-ball movie pop up once in a while, and that makes a visit appropriate. Quantity: A smaller theater, which will pack popular showings. Value: $10 for an Adult Ticket. Ambiance: Alpine Theatre is a worn down movie theater in Bay Ridge. The lobby is actually very beautiful, and clearly renovated recently. However, as soon as you sit on the rocky seats and feel the stick of the floor you are reverted back. They have eight screens, and not enough staff to be working them. Don't be surprised to find the door open for a portion of the movie letting in light, and issues with picture and sound quality. Crowd: Typical for the cheaper neighborhood movie theater. Lots of high school kids and large families. Expect talking and crying for any movie you see. Service: Somewhere between poor and bad. Barely anyone working and it took about half an hour for them to fix the street properly for our film. Parking: Parking along the nearby blocks.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to go and the best cinema also has the best of all of the food like the nachos and cheese caramel pop-corn

Yelp
It has definitely improved over the years and hopefully it keeps going up. Best prices and it makes it a good place to come watch something or watch a matinee. Wish it had more food options

aldea l.

Yelp
It should have been opened on time we have been outside waiting for some minutes but longer, our service should've been better

Franklin W.

Yelp
Took 2 hours to get our popcorn. They kept prioritizing other customer and we finally got our popcorn. We missed our movie so we had to move it to the next one. would not recommend coming here. 1 star!

Yelp
Seen a movie yesterday in theater 6 and left with 3 bites on my leg. The theater has bed bugs. Horrible experience
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Alpine is my local theatre. As I'm from Sunset Park (way before it became the "trendy" place to live), this was one of our only two choices we had growing up. (Fortway was our other choice, it's now a Chinese Market) this was second choice even back then because Fortway usually had the better movie options. Anyhow, I do not come here at all as an adult, but do manage to take my daughter here. The theatre has improved tremendously since I was a teenager. I came here, most recently to see, A Wrinkle In Time 3D. The prices are fair, the seats are now more comfortable, the floor isn't sticky, but this still will remain my theatre of choice only when going to watch children's movies. In these times you really can't beat paying $9.00 for a film, it's basically unheard of. So, if you have children, are a local, or just looking to see a movie and not spend $100, make the Alpine Theatre, your choice.

Yelp
Wonderful landmark theatre with great seats and sound. The snacks are reasonably priced too. My wallet dropped our of my pocket and i didn't realize until an hour after the show ended. Needless to say manager Mike and his team did a wonderful job securing my wallet which had cash and cards until I could retrieve it. Looking forward to More movie nights at the Alpine!
google avatar

Raneem M.

Yelp
I would have given them 0 stars. It is a very old theater! The floors are dirty. The theater's seats are broken and not comfy. The screens are as big as my living room's TV. They kept the doors open, and there was a lot of noise from outside and next-door theaters. I won't come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
First time in the alpine in over 8 years and it still a great place to go see movies that are current and inexpensive plus the staff is amazing and awesome very friendly staff definitely will keep going there til the end of time
google avatar

Taina A.

Yelp
Alpine is an old neighborhood theater. It's cheaper than going to one of the big boys (AMC or Regal) in Manhattan. Also, they have $7 movies on Wednesdays (I think, might be Tuesdays)! There's nothing else special about it, except that they sell cotton candy. They have a small area on the side that is used for birthday parties. The bathrooms need an upgrade. It's a good, cheap place to catch a movie.
google avatar

Yelp
On one hand, The Alpine Theatre certainly leaves to be desired in many senses. The place is sorta unchanged since the 1990s, the projectors aren't great and their theaters are kinda broke-ass. BUT that is also exactly why I enjoy coming here. It's an independent Brooklyn original (originally built 1921!), tickets are UNDER $10 for new release films, popcorn is $5 for a small, and it's easily accessible by R train. Sure, you gotta dodge some teenagers and stale popcorn underfoot, but quite frankly I've had better theater experiences here than at places like Alamo with its drunk patrons who laugh at EVERYTHING on screen. So while I will admit this theater is rarely my go-to, the joke's on me for paying $12 - $16 to see the same film somewhere further away. Support your local theaters, they're a great bargain and a true Brooklyn time travel experience.

Brenda F.

Yelp
The theatre itself was pretty good. Good seating but the audio could've been better. Everything was decently priced. The bad part was the women's bathroom. They weren't good at all. One stall had a whole paper toilet roll shoved into the toilet, another had... an explosion in it and one stall was locked. The bathroom really brought the rating down.
google avatar

Rosemary R.

Yelp
Have been twice in the last month and wow, what an improvement! Only con being the bathrooms are not the cleanest... however, for the price - can't be beat! So happy to live nearby this gem of a theater.
google avatar

Alexander Scott B.

Yelp
Let's face it. There arnt many movie theaters around any more. This theater is air conditioned. The seats are comfortable. I really didnt like how there was a smudge on the screen. Not a small one, a big patch of black scrapes from who knows what. The food is overpriced but locally there are other places to go. I just saw a kind of sad movie there so I'm not so thrilled by it.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Great value spot in the neighborhood. Prices are low! Good concessions. Not a fancy theater but it does a great job.
google avatar

Tanya G.

Yelp
WORST MOVIE GOING EXPERIENCE EVER!! Anyone over the age of 20 should not come unless you want to experience high schoolers talking loudly, sneaking into other movies, taking pictures and screaming loudly at the smallest thing. The worst was them throwing BUCKETS of popcorn across the theater. It was incredible to see the staff do NOTHING to control the teens. And let's not even talk about the trash EVERYWHERE! NEVER GO HERE!! Truly just go to a AMC.
google avatar

Len B.

Yelp
I have been here at Alpine Theater for many years and seen many movies here. Most recently saw Shang Chi here for $7. I definitely like the new renovation of the lobby and the theater. However, I am concerned about the workers here did not check for vaccination cards. I asked the ticket booth guy if they check for it and he points to the guy who rip tickets will check but even that guy didn't. I really want to give this 5/5 rating but not checking for proof of vaccination it's a for me.
google avatar

Esmeralda R.

Yelp
I hate leaving negative reviews!! This was my first & last time at this Movie Theater. You can tell right off the bat its one of those theaters that are neglected & not well kept. Tickets prices $ 7.Staff was friendly enough, Popcorn was mediocre. Seats where not comfortable even though they reclined, they were filthy and ripped up, doesn't look like the seats or entire theater have been cleaned in years. Theater needs a serious renovation. The only redeeming factor, was the movie.
google avatar

Tatiyana E.

Yelp
I am disappointed. As a theatre that clearly has been a staple in the neighborhood, it is very subpar. I do appreciate the fact that they are still here, and their prices are amazing considering prices elsewhere. What I do not understand: Why are there teens seemingly running everything? They ALL had very bad attitudes, and the ones not behind the concession stand were standing and sitting around doing nothing. My popcorn was COLD. They kept showing the same commercial (M&M). I don't see myself coming back to this one, unfortunately. Especially since it is such a staple (I have a fondness for older theaters, especially with the ticket booth and marquees).
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Where else can you come and get a movie ticket for $10? Come on! Yes, the place is a tad outdated but it gives you that old school movie theatre feels. I've been here a handful of times since the 90's and they've made small changes like pleather seating which gives you so much leg room! Can't forget how far the chairs recline. You could fall asleep! The movie tickets and the food are still 90's prices which is affordable if you're coming with a group or don't feel like spending $20 bucks on a popcorn and small soda. I wish the bathrooms were cleaner and in better condition. Some doors don't lock right and there's tiles about to come down. They do have a fabulous mirror in there for those girls that like to take selfies or belfies. Ha Ha! They have street parking which could be a horror film on its own, but I found one after going around the block twice.

Yelp
Alpine has a special place in my dead, dead heart. I grew up in the area, so I've snuck into many a rated R movie here in my youth. And was a teenager doing teenager things. It was never that great of a theater. I preferred the Fortway, but that became a Chinese supermarket, so Alpine ended up being the only game in town. I remember issues with sound and picture. I heard that Alpine had (relatively) recently renovated, so I gave them another shot. The seats are more recline-y, and the rows are wide (I guess people are just getting fatter). But the seats themselves felt like they were about to fall apart (and some were held together with duct tape). The screen had some noticeable holes/imperfections on it. The theatre itself wasn't kept completely dark. And I had no idea a movie could skip, but the audio/picture on our movie did a couple of times. Really poor movie going experience all around. But hey, it's cheap.
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
Whoa what happened here?! I checked the showtimes on their website to come here to watch "Penguins of Madagascar", me and the kids are actually sitting right here in our seats waiting, showtimes says first movie time starts at 9:55am. It is now 10:18, the screen isn't even on yet, and on top of that, people are cleaning the place right now? Wasn't it suppose to be cleaned up last night before closing up? I'm in the last theatre, #8, the only room that has elevated seats. Some of the seats smells, theres garbage all over the place, even beer bottles! We had to move a couple of times to get away from the mess. Seems like there was a huge party in here last night. To make the review short, and hoping the show will start soon, I'm only sparing 1 star this time only for the cheap prices.....should I even be complaining? You get what you pay, but still, this isn't how you manage a business!
google avatar

Samantha K.

Yelp
Because of the other reviews I was expecting it to be awful, but it was really fine. I went for a matinee and the ticket was $7, where else are you going to see a $7 movie in New York? They have all the big name releases, so for the low price this theatre is definitely worth it. I was in theatre 6, which seemed to have the newer seats. They reclined really far and had a ton of leg room. The screen was good, not scratched like some other reviewers have mentioned, this may only be the case in certain theaters, or perhaps they replaced the screen? I'm not sure, but the movie looked great. A few stars are knocked off because it seemed like they were having problems with the AC, or perhaps the AC is just not great in the theatre. It was around 80 degrees today outside and barely cooler inside. Move theaters are known for being cold, so that was not great. Also, there were two times were the movie "stalled" it was just for a couple seconds each, and it just kind of froze/buffered both times. Luckily both times were low action/landscape shot moments, but if that happened during an important part of the film it would have been really upsetting. Clearly they projection systems are having some trouble. Again, it didn't effect MY experience too much, but overall that's not great for a theatre. I completely avoided the bathrooms because of the other reviews, so I can't speak to them, but the whole place seemed pretty clean. Old, no doubt, but there's nothing that can be done about that. There wasn't trash on the floors and they weren't sticky, which is all I can really ask out of a low cost movie theatre.
google avatar

Ken P.

Yelp
So I admit that I feel I am being generous with the three stars as an A-OK rating because there are times when The Alpine really lets me down. This is the only movie theater in Bay Ridge Brooklyn so I am holding it to some higher standards. Let's go over some positives first. 1. Good matinee price for sure. I've seen films for about $7 and even cheaper if the film was running a little longer. That is great for those bringing along the kiddies and wanting a part of their wallet back. 2. Also reasonable concession prices. Maybe not good if you are worried about your waistline. 3. Nice amount of theaters for numerous films and each seems to be the same size with the exception of the larger stadium one that was the newest addition and is located way in the rear of the building in case you initially have trouble finding it (I did when I was looking for Godzilla). Now some off points. 1. The first is the worst for me as I have sat in the theater and no sound was coming out during the attractions and even a few times during a few features but worst yet was the few times that the film would stop entirely and then pick up many minutes ahead in the storyline. When this happened during "Guardians Of The Galaxy" it ruined key plot points for the audience. Since its happened during more than one film I am citing this as the most grievous. Pay attention people, this is your main job, playing the film without incident. 2. Very grimy sometimes. Refuse from past films remains far too often for my liking. 3. Facilities need to always be working. Too often have I gone into their facilities to find one or two out of service. This needs to be addressed and functional especially when a major feature is premiering as the line gets very disorganized. So as you can see there is some good and some not too much but I do enjoy having this theater here and I want it to live up to its surrounding neighborhood. We need this place so it should be maintained and kept up to the best that is possible.

Yelp
You get what you pay for ! The A very small in movie theater that typically has "most" of the on air movies. This theater is definitely not tours the clean side. They also have most of the snacks(popcorn, nachos, cheese). NOTE : LESS LIKELY TO BE ABLE TO MOVIE HOP HERE (ONE HALL WAY THAT LEADS TO ALL THE THEATER ROOMS, EASILY STAFFS CAN SEE) The tickets are $7-$10 ($2 additional for 3D) and their Wednesday promotion is $6 On Wednesdays, it is half price so it gets very full and there is a higher population of children and teenagers so it's pretty noisy. Would recommend if you just want to watch a movie but not if you are looking for somewhere comfortable and a large range of space then this is not the theater you are looking for.

Khalid A.

Yelp
Just because I'm Arabic they kicked me and my friends out and we already bought tickets and they wouldn't refund them or let us go in the movie theater and didn't even let us play the claw machine
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
I've been to cleaner adult cinemas. Ashamed I have to give a star, because it deserves 0 stars. What a dump!!! Seats broken, straw wrappers and popcorn everywhere - disgusting. Sticky floors and and a totally unfriendly staff. Should have closed a long time ago.
google avatar

Yelp
It's your old school local movie theatre. The two big rooms are good, however, the small one!? The cloth covered chairs are ripped and broken, and dirty. Show was supposed to start at 11:00am. The "Enjoy the show" screen has been looping since 10:59 and I went to inform the staff around 11:05. Two staff went to the back room where the movie machine located, at 11:14am - the preview finally began. I mean, you have one job, maybe more than one (clean up and collecting tickets) and play the movie... seriously?
