The Alqueria de Moryama is located in a beautiful spot, right in the heart of the Alpujarras. However, this postcard-perfect location is wasted by numerous issues:
• Virtually non-existent service both at the reception and in the restaurant/bar: unfriendly staff, unwelcoming atmosphere and a lack of explanation about the hotel and its surroundings.
• A very small room (approximately 12 m2), noisy, facing the passageway of other rooms and the pool, very little natural light, a hard mattress, and almost non-existent pillows (to our joy, we discovered a cockroach in our bed in the morning!).
• The restaurant is not good and should be avoided: dishes swimming in oil, lack of seasoning, and filthy (napkins left on the floor), with waiters giving the meal leftovers to the cats (this raises suspicions...).
• Disrespectful guests/staff: the pool occupied for hours by friends of the staff (around 10 people), showing no concern for noise or others.
• A final touch of irony: the room we were given is called "Del Guiri," meaning the tourist's room (could it be because we are not Spanish?).
In summary, a hotel with good potential that is completely ruined by poor management and lack of maintenance. Don't waste your money or your time, go elsewhere.
NB: This is not mentioned (neither on the phone nor on the website), but there are many cats on the property and in the restaurant (6 kittens and one cat). Take this into account if you have allergies.
