I went to go get a harness for my big puppy, and the harness doesn't fit. The quality of the harness was good but the only problem is once you buy it you can't return it. They only take cash 💸 💰, vemno, or zelle

They have a good selection of pets supplies but also a lot of exotic animals in small cages.

This is seriously the most upsetting pet store I have ever been too. Why are there so many iguanas per 20gallon tank with no heat side, hamsters in bedding that’s obviously been there for over a week, birds cramped up into small cages and macaws pulling their feathers out? Animal abuse. The birds are stuffed in small cages so cramped they have no room to fly or breathe. The owners should be ashamed of themselves.

I went with their shop yesterday, and I was really dazzled by a perfect and decent spot. Likewise, the staff working out there was cordial and enlightening. They even offer me a piece of guidance in taking care of my Maltese canine. I'll be back!

This spot is in a very busy area, so many people come to see what animals are available. I saw many parakeets, bird seed, and parrots for sale. I asked how much a baby chick was and the woman said $20. I was surprised it cost so much in DTLA. I don't know if you're allowed in, but it looks like you can only view goods from the outside

Love the service and the variety they have in stock. I been shopping here since Al started off first selling at the storefront of "ProCell" right in front of where the Pet Shop is at today. The dedication and strong will to proceed through all the types of recessions that our state of California has endured throughout the years and for this store to still be standing and become what it is today its really inspiring to me.. I remember seeing a very young lady with her kids in a car seat and another just a couple of years older at her side, working hard to make a sale and and provide for her necessities and her kids well being. To me it shows the determination of a woman's strengths and inner mighty lion to success and break barriers to move forward.. she is commended for all this and Als Pets is and will continue to be my number one store to go to.. Many Blessings to them!!!

This place is horrible they had stuffed like 20 parakeets in a small cage cant even spread their wings. They spray paint their birds too it's aboustly terrible. The doves are crowed in a cage not even happy or anything. They have little food and water in the cage and no other items for their teeth or claws. When they give you the bird they stuff them in a box that can barely breathe out of and then duct tape it shut. I'm so glad I had adopted my baby Cleo from them and now she is living a happy life with my male bird Clive i just hope she forget being stuffed in a cage like that.

Spray painting bird is horrible even the moment I walked in it smelled so bad I don't recommend anyone to go ti Al's pet supplies.

I bought a cockatiel from here in December 2013, I love him so much he means the world to me, he is 5 years old now almost 6, great place for small companions and supplies, visit if you're ever in Downtown LA

Very small but convenient location in Downtown with helpful staff. - Small space (hard for 2 people to shop simultaneously without bumping into each other) but is stocked floor-to-ceiling with pet supplies - Extremely knowledgable, helpful, and responsive staff. They picked up my call after only 2 rings, knew their stock without hesitation, and once I stopped by after work, they were able to get me in and out in under 1 minute. - Location at Winston/LA is definitely convenient for anyone who lives in downtown One negative is that they are overpriced (some items at twice the price of other retailers) but given the helpful staff, convenient location, and ease of getting what I needed, I did not mind. I'd recommend giving them a call to check their stock before coming by.

Absolutely horrible conditions for these poor animals. In particular, the Red Macaw looks VERY unhealthy and is kept in a non-complaint cage for its size and requirements. A healthy Macaw should have bright, full feathers, and a white beak. This poor macaw has the exact opposite appearance which tells me they don't take care of it or feed it the right nutrition. I hope they get their permits revoked and this poor animal is brought to a better home

Overpriced supplies that are obviously old & expired as you can tell by looking at the dust and dirt on boxes and bottles (shampoos, dog training aids, etc). And agreed that the caged birds look malnourished and sickly in filthy conditions. Shame on these people.

Went back today because we needed a fish net. They had none in stock so I reminded my bf we needed cat nip. He ended up buying a pack of 9 Lives cat nip. A few hours later we arrive back at home and we start unpacking everything. He opens up the cat nip and about 6 ROACHES start crawling out onto my bed! I never seen him move so fast. It was DISGUSTING. The employee we dealt with was a such a sweet man so this has nothing to do with their customer service, it has absolutely everything to do with the cleanliness of the items purchased and the store itself. We won't be returning. Also while I was in there I noticed some bugs in a cup with a white beta fish in it. I figured it was food for the fish, I'm absolutely ignorant when it come to fish. Thinking about it now it is clear that this spot has a pest control problem. Beware of the 5 star reviews, this place is mediocre at best.

Unclean, tiny and clear from the condition of the animals they are not taken care of and possibly abused. Specifically, a large red macaw is in a very very small cage, barely able to turn right and left. The beak of the macaw looks damaged and discolored, and has feathers falling out with skin issues. The wings cannot even open. The animal abuse is unsettling. I cannot imagine what the place is like when all the animals are closed inside.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let all of the Los Angeles County to Riverside County and all OVER know that this place is amazing!!! I've gotten lots of birds and not only are they healthy but very beautiful parrot's to cage's to all supplies for a great price! I recommend this pet shop to everyone!!! I been going there since I was a kid and it hasn't changed its heaven!!! PLEASE VISIT IF YOUR IN DLTA ITS A MUST BELIEVE ME!!!

May not be the best looking or the fanciest pet store, but I'm a frequent shopper there for the great deals. Parking is difficult and streets are not the cleanest but the employees are super friendly and offer good service. Their stock is limited because of how small their store is... so it's better to call ahead of time and check with them on the phone first.

I have to agree about the good deals. Not necessarily in the best part of town, but not an area to be scared of. Nice and relatively helpful staff.

Stopped by today and was greeted right away. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful and I found some pretty awesome deals on aquarium accessories! I only paid $23 when I would of paid 60 somewhere else! Will definitely be back. Store is very small but I didn't mind at all.

My experiences with Al's Pet Supplies downtown have all been top notch. You need to take the time to really examine the whole store, space is a commodity downtown so everything is squeezed in there. I live in the area and often pass by there, and have really noticed that they really seem to care about the pets they sell, and take care of them while they are in the process of selling them- which to me is a major factor when choosing where I purchase pets and supplies. Very competitive/downtown/wholesale type pricing- u can't beat this! 5 stars!!

Love this shop!! They are very nice and I get my dogs vaccines there. I call 213-622-1215 and they prepare my supplies for pick up, very convinient when I'm leaving my office!!! This is the only shop that has been here in Downtown for years!!! Best prices and convinience, I don't have to go to a store and over spend on unwanted items !
