A small exposition with interesting and simple descriptions in English German and French. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. There are a few souvenirs to buy at the shop store. the toilets are a mess but they have luggage deposit boxes. all in all a great visit

An interesting museum that presents the way of life of the old inhabitants of the Alsace area. Hosted by a group of old, interconnected houses. Beautiful inner courtyard! You need approximately one hour to visit it.

I visited this museum on the first Sunday of April—my second time here. Though it’s relatively small, the museum is thoughtfully curated, offering an engaging and informative look into the livelihood, beliefs, and culture of the Alsatian people from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Such an interesting collection of exhibits in a beautifully restored building. The artifacts and scenes of daily life that have been reconstructed are well done and help to show what life was like in the area hundreds of years ago. The museum is right next to the river and only a few minutes walk from the other sites in old town. We arrived without tickets on a weekend and had no problem getting in immediately.

A wonderful experience! One can see how people in Elsass have lived throughout the years. One learns about history and visits one amazing house which has been turned to the museum.

It is what I can call "a cozy museum." You would not like it if you are waiting for a huge museum with really old things and detailed information. It contains that, of course, but not to the extent of similar museums. Instead, and that is why I am giving it 5 stars, is the whole environment, it makes you feel like you are in a late medival house (till early moden) where you get to see how the people lived, and that is really cool

Very nice museum. Not too crowded during the holidays. There are no elevators and you go up 2 floors. They give a great overview of the Alsace region, culture and people. The museum is mostly trilingual with it's signage in French, English and German. There was no option to buy tickets online.

Yelp
A must-see venue in Straßburg, preferably on your first day there to get a feel for the history, craft, cuisine and lore of this gorgeous area of France/Germany (I know it's technically 'france', but let's get real). Give yourself enough time to really imbibe the experience! We had only two hours and had to rush through the final rooms, to my chagrin. History and art lovers in particular will find a wealth of information here. Don't. Miss. It.

Yelp
One of my favorite museums in France. It's small, so it doesn't take all day to see. It's informative without being boring. It has a lot of local artifacts. It's inexpensive. Go!

Yelp
Admission is €6, and half off if you are a student. There is plenty to see, and it's all very interesting. The museum itself is historical: it's been around over 100 years. The museum is actually 3 old Alsatian residences in Strasbourg, filled with daily insight on the lives of people in the region in the 18th and 19th centuries. It's almost like a maze, in fact, I am not even sure if I saw everything because there was just so much. It takes you out onto the porches in the courtyard on ocassion. I would want to live here even now, if it wasn't a museum. One of the neatest parts was a room full of antique toys, from dolls sporting gigantic bows to elaborate miniature toy kitchens. You can see agricultural items, religious items, to a typical Alsatian kitchen set up for the time period, down to the pots meant for preserving butter. If you are in Strasbourg, this is a must see.

Yelp
Neat little museum that feels like a portal back in time. The museum is set up to look like a traditional Alsatian home with displays of everyday items and the unique outfits of the time. After entering, the museum staff gave me a book in English that describes the various aspects of life in the home. However, there's no correlation in terms of order between what is described in the book and what is on display in the museum. That made it very confusing and in a way makes the book pretty useless because you don't want to go to a museum simply to read a book (that's what the library or the internet is for). It also didn't help that all the placards on the wall describing the objects were all in French. One would think that, given the fact that Strasbourg attracts visitors from all over Europe and is the home of the European Parliament, someone would have the common sense to create a separate placard in English. Just saying... anyways, needless to say, I made a lot of assumptions that day thinking I might actually know something about what I was looking at. Still worth visiting and get a feel of traditional Alsatian culture.

Yelp
Admission is too expensive for this lack luster attraction. Not a must see while in Strasbourg. It's not worth the time or money.

Yelp
Well I won't do it again. It is a collection of household stuff from olden days. I was not interested. More like an unusual yard sale....
