Such a great day, they have it all here! Free parking, free access to farm store, restaurant, snack stands, ice cream, and more. There was even a band when we went. $40 for access to the PYO pick-your-own fields which includes various levels of container sizes and access to the large and small corn mazes, evergreen maze, sunflower trail, pumpkin patch, and hay rides. So many apples of different varieties, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beets, flowers and more. Different times of year they have peaches, cherries, etc.

Alstede is probably the biggest and most popular public access farm in NJ. Gets super crowded during the weekends, so better to early and purchase tickets online to save time. They do have to lots of parking attendances to maintain the flow of cars, including one way entrance and exits. The center part of the location has ice cream stall, henhouse which is their restaurant, hot and cold coffee shop, tents for sitting area. The birthday party area, wagon wheel, animal feed, pony ride and bounce house all those things are within walkable distance. Live music is performed around the this place as well. The food served here is decent but very high prices. To pick your own fruits/vegetables/pumpkins you have to take wagon ride. Most of those roads are not paved, so lots of bumps and dust. I didn’t bring any face cover but really wish I had one. The farm area is huge, lots of apple trees, huge pumpkin field, peaches, corn and variety of vegetables picking fields available. Despite all the good things there are some major inconveniences I felt during my visit. At peak time, to get any kind of food or drink it takes more than 30 minutes of wait time. The bathroom stalls are placed in main area and around the picking fields but they are not maintained throughout the day. The foot pump operated water stations run out of soup and water by 2pm. Kids have major problems using these. I hope the farm works towards improving visitor experience.

We recently visited Alstede Farms, and it was an amazing experience! The farm is located in New Jersey, not far from New York City. On our way there, we encountered wild animals, including small deer peacefully grazing by the roadside, unafraid of the cars. Unlike New York City, as soon as you leave its boundaries, it’s incredibly quiet and clean, with no honking – truly a paradise for the ears 🙈. I love New York, but sometimes I get so tired that I just want a bit of peace and quiet 🥹🫰🏼 About the farm: Before entering, you need to buy a ticket (it’s cheaper online 😁). Once inside, you can eat fresh produce straight from the fields and pick your own delicious treats. We collected fruits and vegetables ourselves, with no supervision – signs are posted everywhere indicating what can be picked, what is ripe, and which paths to follow. Additionally, you can feed the animals, ride on a hay wagon, and explore various mazes, including a giant corn maze 🌽🙈. If you prefer, you can visit without buying a ticket and simply relax in the café area where live music is played (local bands perform various popular songs). The farm store sells all the produce they grow – fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, homemade ice cream, and much more. I was eager to see if it tasted as good as my grandmother’s – unfortunately, it didn’t. You can’t get fresh milk straight from the cow, only pasteurized, but it’s still delicious :) For families, this is a great way to entertain the kids: tractor rides around the farm, climbing on haystacks, horse riding, and more. You can also host any celebration there (they offer their own culinary delights). In the fall, you can try their homemade wine and cider 🍺.

Such a beautiful place! To start off, this place is enormous. There is parking on site off to the side. We went for the 1:30 slot and it was already packed. There are bathrooms located in the front entrance. Once you enter, there are a few food stands where you were able to get roasted corn, all different flavored popcorn, caramel apples, icecream. There was another stand that offered pizza, sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries. So many picture opportunities just from the front entrance to where you scan your ticket to go apple picking. There’s a tractor/wagon that picks you up and takes you around the farm to the different areas to pick from. You can get off the wagon and stay in that area for a little while. Once you’re ready to head to the next location, you just wait in the designated area and another wagon will pass by, I’d say once every 5-7 mins, to pick you up. Aside from apples, you can pick pumpkins, broccoli, berries, eggplants, spinach, etc. there’s also a really nice market near the entrance where you can get apple cider donuts, more veggies, pies and so much more. I would def go back again. There was so much to do I don’t think I even really got to see/experience everything. Good for families and date nights alike.

I had an amazing time at the farm! There was plenty of walking, which I really enjoyed as it gave me a chance to take in the beauty of the fields. The variety of produce available was fantastic—apples, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini, and pumpkins were all in season and ripe for picking. The live music created a lively atmosphere, and we made sure to take a break to enjoy some fresh, delicious donuts. It was an active and fun day, and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves a bit of adventure and being outdoors!

Honestly, It was a bit pricey (around $200 for our family of five), but it’s clear that a lot of effort goes into organizing everything. The farm offered a lot of activities, including pony rides and a super challenging adult corn maze, which added so much fun to our day. The hayride was also a great highlight—it stopped at several spots, and the tractors came by frequently, ensuring we never had to wait long, The drivers were friendly and polite, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. While we may not come every year due to the cost, it was definitely worth it for a special family outing.

I have passed this farm several times and have never stepped foot into the farm because I'd typically go to other local area ones. Well, my co-worker told me the farm was opening the sunflower fields this week (M-F) for free and I figured I would check it out. I was pleased to visit Alstede and right of the bat it was super clean with fresh produce and plantation and staff were plentiful on the property itself. We were also able to feed the animals, so it was a great activity for the kiddos. I will certainly be back in the near future and I'm glad to have experienced the sunflower maze and activities throughout. There is plentiful for both, kids and adults.

There was not a lot of selection of apples for picking, we didn’t fill out the 25lb box we purchased. I guess it could be the end of the season. When we came back from the hay ride and were exiting a security stopped us because we divided the apples from the box into a bag since it was extremely heavy to carry. I assume the security thought we were taking more apples than it could fit in the box or that we were taking pumpkins without paying. I explained that we separate the apples because it was heavy, he still asked to search the bag and even placed the bag into the box to see if it could fit. That felt extremely uncomfortable. Meanwhile others were passing without being checked. It was an awful experience! This is my 3rd year going with my family to this farm and never had a problem until now. Most likely will not be going back. Felt racially profiled.

Yelp
It was a little touristy and expensive. Food was excellent (we loved the mulled wine) but generally had a great experience

Yelp
Great farm!! Plenty of pets to see, feed, and touch. We bought a few beers and walked around petting all the animals. It's a Pretty big farm. It was so much fun. We bought a few pumpkins and apple cider to bring home. Overall it was a great visit. Nice seeing a lot of happy people having a good time with their families. I encourage all to stop in and take a moment to enjoy yourself.

Yelp
Came here on the Sunday before Indigenous People's Day and boy was it busy! Everyone we encountered working here was so friendly! We were looking for a game to come pick our pumpkins and for our child to enjoy his time with kid friendly activities. Alstede Farms has a corn and evergreen trail that come with your fall ticket as well as a huge haystack "mountain" the kids will love. The bounce house, pony ride and other activities are at an extra cost and we already paid a steep $112 for 3 people so we did not experience those extras but our child did enjoy the evergreen trail and haystack mountain, he enjoys farms period so we naturally got lucky there. :) They had live music, a hot food stand, homemade ice cream, candy apples, a store and a hard cider area for 21+ It was very busy so expect to wait in line for ice cream and hot food for at least 30 min. We tried the apple cider donut sandwich which was pretty good. I would've loved the donut to be warm and have the option to get other ice cream flavors not just vanilla or chocolate but I'm glad I tried it! My son enjoyed his maple créeme milk shake with an apple cider donut on top! And my husband enjoyed his apple cider slush as well. The farm is so big, you can take the tractors to several of the stops they have along the way (apples, pumpkins, sunflower field, corn maze and vegetable picking OR you can get your steps and exercise in walking to these stops, too. We did a little bit of both and it was a nice sunny fall day so it was enjoyable. Pay for your ticket online in advance so you don't have to wait in the line day of--it was pretty long. Wear comfy shoes you don't care getting dusty from the dirt too and stay hydrated especially on a sunny warm day. We'd definitely come back here! I'd love to try a weekday where there may be less people. It was a nice experience for sure and somewhere you can spend all day at if you like to pick your own pumpkins, apples, in season veggies, etc.

Yelp
Came here with family in the fall! We were a party of four, so we got the family bundle which included admission to the PYO section of the farm, a large box of produce, as well as other farm activities! Initially, I thought it was overpriced (about $36 PER PERSON) but had a great experience in the end and would do it again. We came on a beautiful Saturday in the afternoon, and the parking situation was pretty crazy. Once we parked though, it was a fun and lovely experience checking in and navigating the farm! It was hugely helpful that we bought tickets online and in advance, as it was cheaper and also let us skip the line. The staff on the farm are super helpful and nice. I thought it was SO cool that you could pick veggies too and weren't limited to just apples. We ended up filling our box with fresh beets, cilantro, peppers, and sweet corn! We only got a few apples as many of the varieties we like were already picked bare. Overall, it was a great day at the farm and had a blast picking vegetables. There is a nice county-fair like ambience and I would come back again!

Yelp
I've been wanting to berry pick all summer and finally made it for peak blueberry season at Alstede Farms. We bought tickets for the blueberry pancake breakfast and berry picking that came with one empty pint. We wanted to make jam so we purchased an extra 4 pints. We took the tractor to the blueberry pancake breakfast which was good but not great. It was buffet style eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast and blueberry pancakes. The blueberry pancakes were dry, but they had bowls of fresh blueberries which was nice. After the breakfast we took a tractor to the peach orchards which were also listed at peak season. Although ripe, textually the peaches were kind of milly with not a very sweet flavor. The blueberries on the other hand, were fantastic. We took the tractor a few more stops to the blueberry bushes. They're covered with a net to prevent birds and we could see thousands of berries as we drove up on the tractor. The berries were ripe, sweet, abundant, and very fun to pick. It didn't take long before our 6 pints were full (and we sampled a bit along the way). I have enough berries to make some jam and a blueberry cake this week. I'll definitely plan to go back year after year for blueberry picking specifically. We got a peach lemonade on the way out - very tasty!

Yelp
Alstede is an absolutely gorgeous farm. The grounds are extensive and you can find absolutely everything here. There's an ice cream shop, a farm store, U-pick fruits, multiple food stands, hard cider, live music, hay rides, hay mazes, animals to pet and feed, pony rides, an evergreen tree maze, photo opportunities and so much more. Parking is easy, bathrooms are a level above porta potties and there's even a baby changing area. I'd consider this the 'Disney World' of local farms, and because of that it can definitely get packed out. Especially on a fall weekend. We came for strawberry picking and it was lovely. There was an abundance of fresh strawberries and they were ripe, sweet and juicy perfection. Just a few things to note. To pick the strawberries you'll need to wait for a hay ride up into the fields. There are only two tractors, so the wait is around 20-30 minutes each way, plus a 15 minute ride to the fields. Factor in at least an extra hour with this. If I had known I wouldn't have done it with little kids, and probably would have went to Ort up the street. They have much more accessible picking. But... the views from the hayride are gorgeous and obviously it's a fun experience. The only downside to all of this amazingness is the hefty price tag. Strawberry picking is 30.00 with tax. This is STEEEEEP. This does include filling the quart with strawberries (thank god) but still wildly expensive. And for that price, I think the farm could probably afford adding in a few more tractors into the rotation and making sure that both have sun covers (only one did, and if you got stuck on that tractor it was just too hot). Overall it's a gorgeous farm, there is so much to do and it's a great place to go for a fun family outing.

Yelp
I was wondering why 4k reviews in google? This place is amazing, only thing that needs better attention are the animals outside with this extreme heat, great service, lots of veggies to choose from it. But I definitely recommend this place for families, get here around 10am on weekdays and 9am on weekends. I'm wondering if owners give some sort of valid coupons to as appreciation to come back? But still thank you Alstede Farms. I love it. Ahh I forgot, buy your tickets in advance online for some savings.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
I visited Alstede Farms during strawberry picking season, and it was a great experience overall. However, it is on the pricey side at $30 per person, which includes one small box. I went with someone who doesn't like strawberries, so I only wanted to pay for an entry ticket for him without a box, but they didn't allow that, so I had to buy two tickets with two boxes. They have a couple of tractors to drive you to the field, which is nice so you don't have to walk. As for the "petting zoo," they only have an alpaca, and the rest of the chickens and birds are locked in cages, so you can't touch them. The strawberries were delicious, and it was cute to see all the children covered in red juice all over their shirts and mouths. As you leave the farm, they make everyone go through a special bag check area to ensure you didn't take more than you're supposed to, so make sure you don't have sticky fingers and do the right thing.

milagros l.

Yelp
Quite over priced in both food and activities. Animals are quite cute and the rides are fun when enjoyed with family. Workers here are nice.

Doris C.

Yelp
It's a big farm. I advise you to use the tractor wagon option because we thought we could navigate the grounds but definitely could not. To get to the vegetable area you really need to get on the tractor as I have no idea how you could even get there while lugging a box. The staff were very sweet, but many I ran into couldn't direct me to find anything. 'Where are the Fuji apples?' 'Where are the vegetables?' 'Where are the peaches?' It was a little frustrating and getting hotter while the littles were getting tired and over heated. For the most part; it's a fine farm with lots of options. If I lived closer, I could see this being a great weekend activity. However, I travelled for this and felt kind of cheated. - the hay pyramid; many bales were loose and soft when stepping on it and some weren't secured to the other bales so there were gaps. - the website seems to not reflect the actual B pickings or it's so unclear to find the produce as 50% there is no signage - feeding the animals; the animal feed where you put in money and you turn the knob; the feed shoots out and there are no containers to catch it with. You'll notice the floor directly underneath is littered with feed - was told I couldn't bring my stroller into the wagon, even if collapsed. Later saw many others with strollers/wagons collapsed and in the tractor wagon. This was particularly annoying as my kids were fatigued and I had to carry them everywhere towards the end. - I bought strawberries from the store for $7 a point. Two of the strawberries were molded and some of them were mushy. I bought them today and didn't store them in the car /heat before eating. Didn't realize until I washed them as they were buried at the bottom - it's 0.89 cents a pound for a pumpkin. That seems incredibly expensive for pumpkins.

Yelp
This is ONE BIG A-- FARM with lots of family fun activities. I had heard and read great things about Alstede and the fact that it was a great place for the kids, so we decided to FINALLY make a trip out on a sunny, but very brisk Sunday in mid-October and our kids really, really, really enjoyed their time here. Even though it was probably the coldest day of the season to date, the farm was as crowded as can be, but with all of the real estate here, there was still PLENTY of space to roam around freely. First, admission is not cheap. It was $29 just for a ticket and 5lb bag, so make sure to get your money's worth of fruits and vegetables. However, once you make it in, you'll know where all of that money went because the apple-picking field was huge and, in some cases, you probably want to take the hay ride to areas of your desire. In addition, other fruits and vegetables were there for the picking - berries, corn, eggplant, tomatoes - although some of this stuff was not in season. Besides the spacious apple-picking trails, there's a large picnic area with many tables for dining. You can, and this is what I love about this place, bring your own food OR you can purchase the fast food sold here (e.g. pizza, burgers, etc.) Oh, and don't forget about the apple cider donuts, which they have multiple locations to purchase from. Next to the picnic area is also the farm market, which was very busy. Most customers were purchasing pies and donuts, but they also sold plenty of fruits and vegetables, which I assume were all grown at the farm. The apple-picking was fun, the hay ride was adventurous, the entire farm is spacious and the farm animals on site are nice for the kids to interact with, but the highlight of the day for me was clearly the mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmmmm maple creemee. What is the maple creemee and why am I seemingly spelling "cream" wrong? Well, first, it's not wrong and, second, it was one of the most, amazingly delicious desserts I had in a very, very, very, very, very long time. And, to describe it, well, it's, according to their description, caramel drizzle w/ homemade maple ice cream topped w/ an apple cider doughnut, whipped cream & cinnamon. Need I say more? Word of advice - don't leave this farm without trying it because it will put you in a VERY good (and, potentially) sleepy mood. We're still making our way from farm to farm in the state, but, it's hard for me to believe that there are many at the family fun level of Alstede. Probably one of the best farms out there and well worth the price of admission.

Shelby A.

Yelp
Alstede has truly become one of my favorite farms for the fall season. It is an absolute madhouse on the weekends so try to plan your trip accordingly. They also have a mini Tomasello winery tent where you can try their hard ciders and wines on the property and it is well worth the cost. The tasting was very inexpensive then we bought a few bottles to drink and for home. The blueberry hard cider was out of this world delicious. Additionally I recommend their pomegranate wine it was more bitter in flavor but a perfect balance from the sweet blueberry. Alstede has a great option for a food truck for fresh coffee and doughnuts. Then a farm stand with fresh produce and snacks, and the actual farm store. They have plenty of options from apples, to berries, and even potatoes for picking your own. It is a huge property but a great all day event whether it's for a date or a group outing you will have a fantastic time.

Kayla K.

Yelp
Love this farm for so many reasons!! It is a larger scale farm with lots of options and amenities. I love visiting their animals and feeding them carrots (even though I may be a little old for it). I also participate in their CSA program and enjoy the customized boxes it is great. The pies are also really good and a nice treat. This place is great and should be visited more than just for the fall pumpkin/apple season.

Cindy C.

Yelp
Wow...so love this farm. Always exceeds expectations. We brought a group of kids on October 3. Fun hayride and of course, a great lesson from Alstede's own Jenn Borealo! Always happy to catch up with her.

Kristin C.

Yelp
Prices are astronomical now. There are no prices listed anywhere until you get to the front and talk to the ppl at the stand helping you. What if you don't want 25lbs of fruit for 125$? Will be going to another farm with more options. What a let down.

Julie S.

Yelp
Came here on a hot July day to pick berries and didn't realize how extensive the set up was. We walked to blueberries and picked for a little bit, then took the wagon all the way around to get back to our start since we didn't allot enough time to do much more. We could have easily spent half a day though. Lots of picking, they also had food trucks, games, horses to pet/feed and a store.

Around Town, NJ D.

Yelp
Terrible area for the rabbits. Almost all of them are badly injured in some way . Please urge owners to do better

Jess L.

Yelp
I always really love coming here once Fall hits. Their selection for all of the U-Pick options they provide is always really great. I also really love the corn maze (that I was finally able to make it out of with friends this year). I will say, though, that you definitely have to get there early. By 12-1pm, it starts to get insane with the number of people, lines, & wait times. I do feel as though they oversell their tickets or that maybe they should sell tickets to enjoy the whole of the farm rather than just the U-Pick areas because the line for food, drinks, and even just water was longer than I've waited even at Disney or other kinds of adventure parks. Seemed a little wild for a farm in New Jersey. It's still a fun time, though, and if you're only going a couple of times a year for seasonal festivities, I definitely recommend it.

Lily T.

Yelp
Sorry to see so many bad reviews here. While I do understand why there are so many reviews here talking about how expensive the tickets are, I feel like the prices charged were justified. We came on a beautiful fall weekday and made our moneys worth. The grounds here are beautiful and huge! You can easily spend the whole day here! And I can see how expensive it must be to maintain a farm this big! We came with our whole family and we're given a big box to fill with whatever we want to pick to the top. We took advantage and filled it to the top with bunch of goodies! The corns here were the sweetest and the freshest! And so were the apples. We also loved that there were all sorts of peppers for us to pick including jalapeños and spicy chili peppers! Talk about yum! There was also animals you can feed and hay rides and maze. We really had tons of fun! Prepare to wear comfortable shoes cuz you will be walking a lot! Their store has all kinds of farm goodies and we made sure to grab some pies to go and they were delicious! Overall we had a great time and would recommend this place to others!

Ric T.

Yelp
A really nice place to visit, especially if you have children. Music entertainment, apple and vegetable picking, animal petting, vendors on campus, a store with multiple fresh victuals. Corn maze etc. check it out before it gets too cold

Yelp
This review is only about strawberry picking back in June This place is a commercial place for sure!! Maybe the most popular for PYO farm, like everyone goes there for pick your own anything!! We went there for strawberry this time.. the ticket included entrance fee, hayride to the field, and a container for strawberry!! Hayride is probably the only way you can reach the farm since this is located pretty far away from the entrance.. they have a pretty big field, and it smell like strawberry as you approached.. but then if you have little toddler, it's hard to get to the inner part of the field.. the outside of the field is pretty much picked bare, or whatever is left... if you want better looking, bigger strawberry you will need to go inside!! The only thing about it is that this is hard to get strawberry not crushed!! Maybe this is my personal issue, but somehow, after I pick the strawberry, stack them up, the strawberry got all mushy!! Maybe they are too ripe? Maybe I pack them too tight? I am not sure... like I said before, going back and forth from the field require the wagon.. and with little toddler with me, carrying 3 containers of strawberry, my diaper bag, my toddler, my stroller, oh dear it was kind of a disaster for me!! I need 6 hands to be honest... maybe next time go with a group of 6 and maybe ask them for the tray instead of the little pint container? Who knows... but yeah, that was my "problem" Other then that, there are animal to watch on the outside, fruits market, and food market... sometime even with music entertainment!! I can see that they know what they are doing for sure!! They do have other pick your own around the year!! Just have to check their website to see what you want to pick and when you want to go!!

Yelp
We had a lot of fun picking apples! The only snag we had was the hayride that dropped us off at the opposite end of the farm to so long to come back we almost walked the entire way. The apples were really heavy so it would've been nice to have the hayride more frequently. The sunflower field was a nice addition to visit. The store is very cute and we bought a bunch of delicious items. It's a nice family spot to visit

Kayla P.

Yelp
The PERFECT farm for fall activities in New Jersey!! The different kinds of apple trees were the first stop on the wagon ride. Then followed the rows corn fields & corn maze, sunflower Trails, and a colorful array of vegetables like eggplants, pumpkins, tomatoes, bell peppers, & fresh tilled potato fields. The workers noticed that my party appeared lost & stopped to help. No one was more helpful than Billy! His positive attitude and knowledge of the farm down to the row # of my specific apple taste, made me less nervous asking my plentiful questions, as it was my first time at Alstede Farms in Chester! We walked a lot of the area it was taken care of beautifully. The Evergreen forest was standing tall & finished the farm tour in a peaceful way right before the visit to the farm store. With the help of the store workers, was able to purchase so many fresh goodies for the week on this trip! It was so worth the price of two tickets!

Yelp
We went yesterday late afternoon to Alstede Farms. Very busy, would recommend if you go to the farm, go early morning because it does get packed and you're waiting on lines every where you walk. Went into the Farm store, lots of goodies you may crave between local honey, jams, pies, sauces, meats, teas, and much more. The store is small, however jam packed with a lot of love from all the good things you are surrounded by. Plenty of pumpkins, vegetables, gourds, roasted corn, food to buy and more displayed outside. If you get a ticket, you can scan a code and it's a PYO (pick your own), go on a hayride, corn maze, options to be included towards your ticket. If you go to the back, there are some animals you can pet and feed. They are adorable and provides facts about the animals when you walk around to look at them. Plenty of handwashing stations and outside bathrooms outside too. Bring your own hand sanitizer just in case. Workers are friendly, parking is readily available, credit cards and cash is accepted too. Please be kind to the people navigating you when you enter to Alstede Farms. We witnessed two different drivers almost running them over yesterday, everyone should be mindful. Came home with mulled Apple Cider, Apple Cider doughnuts, Pumpkin pie, Peach pie, Red Wine Vinegar and candied apples with peanuts. We tried the Peach pie, Pumpkin pie, and the Mulled Apple Cider last night- so delicious. If you go here, try their items for sure. Not pictured is an Apple cookie from the farm store. We were so hungry, great snack and was made fresh.

What a full experience. This was the most deluxe pick your own farm I've been to. Yes it's expensive but you aren't paying for strawberries. I would definitely come back and will regard this as my go-to fruit picking place.

Yelp
After being confused by the online website I called to confirm any questions I may have had. It's me (grandma), gramps and a 6 year old. What do I need to purchase ? I don't want a pumpkin or veggies. I just want to hold my granddaughters hand and let her enjoy so I was told to just buy her a ticket online I did and was charged a $10 service fee. So now we're up to $50 but for her that's ok. We get there and they tell us we both have to purchase a $40 ticket to walk with her. $80!! In addition to the $50 I already spent to walk! Yes I could get 6 apples in a tiny plastic bag. Im not impressed. I would pay $50 for her to have a good time any day of the week but the fact that you're charging senior citizens $40 each to just accompany their grandchild is disgusting We're 68. Do you think we'll be jumping in bounce houses and climbing hay stacks? We were going to eat lunch until we saw the prices. It would have been about $60 for 3 burgers and drinks. We had to leave We are seniors wanting to take one child out for the day. We drove an hour to get there and we had to leave because we couldn't afford to stay !! $50+40+40...for one pumpkin, (used all the tickets to pay for pumpkin). 6 apples another $8 = $138. If we stayed it would easily reached $200 You have a lovely farm but your prices are way out of control We cannot afford to return

Yelp
I would say the only good thing about this place is the size. Otherwise you can expect a ton of waiting, mediocre food and so many lines especially during peak season in the fall. There are likely much better farms around the area that are more decently priced

Yelp
"We love the peach icecream... the alpacas love the carrots" A great Sunday afternoon getaway for families with kids, there is a lot of options from pizza, fries burgers as you are busy feeding carrots to the farm animals! Live music creates a lively ambiance, especially in early summer when flowers are in full bloom. My go to place for seasonal peach snd strawberry ice creams!

Yelp
went today to the farm website I saw that there were check in times so I called to see if I had to buy a ticket online. the person said no, and I assumed it was because it was 100 degrees out and it wasn't going to be busy. BE AWARE THEY CHARGE YOU 8 DOLLARS EXTRA for EACH ticket if bought at the farm. the person on the phone never said it would be cheaper to buy online. plus it is crazy that you have to pay for a two year old the same price as an adult. there are so many pages on there website it is easy to miss the pricing at the farm. the discount for purchasing online is not prominently display on the website. I felt ripped off. The farm itself was nice but based on the pricing and feeling ripped off I would try a different farm next time.

Yelp
Not the best, not the worst... Beautiful fall day, headed out for a random Fall excursion, wanted to try a different farm for FRESH apple cider...not that grocery store BS ha! And of course some cider donuts, only from the farm, no where else! I didn't have kids with me but it seems to be cute for the little ones! Bounce houses, petting zoo, feeding stations... I forgot to get some eggs! I've never had farm fresh eggs before! Heard they're different, and guess what, I don't even like eggs all that much! I digress... Nice farm, Apple Cider was so-so Visit if you're near! Enjoy, YELPies!

Yelp
its fun but expensive the admission for strawberry picking was 27.99 per person. The 32oz Lemonades were 8.99, the ice cream cone with two scoops were $5 and over. The petting zoo was fun and the band was awesome . I would definitely come again but with a smaller group next time.

Yelp
Adding on to my first review of this farm. Prices have gone extremely high. To get on the hayride and pick some vegetables it will cost you $36 per person. The $36 gets you a small bag maybe 12 inch by 12 in to put your vegetables in. From what I was told the next size up is a small box which might fit about six apples. The medium size boxes around $40 and change per person. There was three of us. Add that up. The little store they had up front which had some fall inspired foods was just as expensive. Half of a pie will cost you $12. Meaning a whole pie would be 24 dollars. The joy that I felt the first time I came to this farm is gone. Bring at least $500 if you're a family of three or four. You'll be able to pick a couple of vegetables go on a hayride and go through a corn maze. The food is bad and extremely expensive. The ice cream is so so, nothing special. The owners of these local farms in New Jersey have taken the joy out of fall and it's offerings. It becomes stressful to take your children to these forms and extremely expensive. And I mean extremely expensive. I was trying to keep an open mind but when I got there and I saw the little bag that they give you for $36 a person. $36 a person and the bag might fit three peppers. The next size up box was small as well which maybe you would be able to fit six apples. Terrible abuse on pricing. Families trying to take their children and enjoy your autumn day instead get a day full of stress and empty pockets.

Yelp
Was able to visit the farm these past 2 Saturdays (don't ask). Reading the reviews, the complaint is the high price. Don't get me wrong, I did have sticker shock. But there's so many different things to pick like apples, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers and tomatoes (raspberries not included in your pick your own bag/box). You also have access to the corn maze, the hayride, the haystack for kids to climb. And if you don't want to pay to pick the goods, you can hang out in front. There's the petting zoo, the store, and even food trucks with a live band playing. It's definitely a hangout spot, even dogs are welcome in that part. Be warned, you will spend more money on the homemade ice cream and the apple cider slush but if the family is happy, that's all that matters.

Yelp
I recently went for the moon harvest and was super disappointed. They advertised it like it was grand thing and it wasn't . They had only one food truck, apple cider donut wasn't the best, no real entertainment, or bond fire. They need to make it better. Not worth the $20.

Yelp
Didn't want to drop this to 2 stars, because it's still a great "thing to do" but this place is extremely expensive. There are lots of activities for kids and adults the same...love the PYO (pick your own) idea but the size of the bag for an almost $40 entry is laughable. If they could charge you for the air you breathe they probably would. I went about a week before Halloween, and considering the weather this year I was surprised how scarce the farm was. Everything was dried up, dead, and unappealing. I mildly filled up my bag just to not leave empty handed but the veggies went bad within 3 days so really just a waste. The sunflower field is a great Instagram-worthy stop, but again...expensive and not really worth it. Came here once...won't be back unless I just hang out front with the "free" animals and maybe some ice cream.

Yelp
Agree with other reviews. The Farm has many things to do but the hay pyramid is a bit unsteady as the bales of hay aren't tightly fitted and it can get quite costly doing the "pick your own". Much more than I would pay for at the grocery store but you're also paying for the experience I guess.

Yelp
Steer clear of the pot pies. Way overpriced and not very good. Had to season them after we got them out of the oven. Only had a top crust which is disappointing. Otherwise very friendly employees who look happy to be there instead of the supermarket zombies you usually see.

Elissa V.

Yelp
This is the most overpriced farm I have ever been to! I took two five year olds, and one adult and it cost $120 to enter the orchard. Plus you only get one lousy plastic bag per person, that fits about 6 apples tops. It was totally outrageous. Do not go here!

Chris M.

Yelp
This farm used to be a transformative experience. Every time I went I felt good, deep in the soul good. Now it's impossibly expensive. How does it come to this? Who is paying these ticket prices? After decades of visiting here with family, first with parents, then with my own family, I've thrown in the towel. We took a break from visiting during covid because we literally couldn't afford the 5 of us. Finally, we decided to go back before the 2022 season ended. So, I call today to find out about the current ticket prices (hoping there's been a decrease), but come to find out that ticket prices are going up AGAIN, tomorrow, 9/6. To go pick fruit is now an astronomical $22 per person on a weekday, and more on a weekend - I don't recall how much more since I was still swallowing after hearing the weekday pricing. Children? 2 and up, same price. That includes - wait for it - a pint of berries/small fruit (a pint!) or a small bag for apples, etc. Un-be-liev-able. The photo is back in 2015, when it was a little more affordable. We are desperately looking for an alternative either nearby or out of state.

Yelp
I have been visiting Alstede Farms for over 10 years and this weekend was the first time I ever felt the need to write in to complain. My complaint was regarding the lack of organization regarding the parking situation. Cars were parked in every possible space. There was no one directing traffic. It took my family and I forty-five minutes to pull out of a parking space. This type of situation can become dangerous. Within two hours of my written complaint, I received a phone call from an Alstede Manager by the name of Kyle. To my surprise, Kyle was not apologetic at all about my concern. He chose to debate me by telling me that the farm had twenty employees and two police officers monitoring the parking lot and that I was the only person complaining. He also said that next time I shouldn't come on a holiday weekend. This type of response is unacceptable and lacks professionalism. Frankly, I would have preferred that he wouldn't have called. I understand that during a holiday weekend there are more visitors. It's not my first time during a holiday weekend. However, there should be a capacity control of the cars in the lot to allow ease of entry and exit.

Yelp
If you're looking for apple picking, and especially if you have young kids in tow, Alstede Farm is a solid bet. Sure, this place is definitely over crowded but they have quite a bit of extra stuff to check out beyond just apple trees and I mean free parking can't be beat. It is what it is, apple picking with a fee to go to the orchard and a bit of a premium to take your barrel home, but what's new. Its the experience, right? Where Alstede shines for me is in its extras -- they tend to have live music, a pretty massive farm stand (where you can just buy apples if you dont wanna go make the effort yourself), fresh apple cider donuts, and an ice cream stand. My favorite part is the farm though -- there's a ton of animals here you can go pet and feed and it's FUN. Better yet there is what can only be described as the mountain of goats, where goats climb to the top of this big weird contraption and stand on little terraces where you can send feed up a pulley system directly to their mouthes and honestly it's the funniest shit I've seen in a while. So go feed those goats man, worth the two hour drive in traffic from the city.

Yelp
Nice family friendly or group outing farm. This was my first time visiting. There is a lot to do for free such as live music, feeding animals, tractor exhibit, visit the shop and ample seating. There is a separate entrance for the actual farm. They have additional activities for kids and adults. Wine tasting, horse riding, bouncy house, pick your own flowers or fruit/veggies. The kiddie activities can be purchased separately from the 'you pick' activities. I have no complaints!

Yelp
If you looking for relax and enjoy your weekend- you should be there. Especially with kids. A lot of fun for them- animals, tractors, cooked corn, sweets- delicious ice cream, smoothies. Very good quality vegetables and fruits. You can pick up from field. Nice music band playing. Friendly atmosphere. And after all you can go to huge lake, play volleyball and swim. We have a huge fun day and relax.

Yelp
My partner and I came here on a Saturday and had a great time! The price is high but given how the whole pick-your-own thing has really exploded in popularity since I was little, I get that the business model has changed. We paid $35 per person for admission and a bag to fill with apples. The bags fit maybe 5-6 large apples or 9 very small apples. Yes, that is a high price for so few apples, but I would say that compared to other farms I have been to, there are more things to do that are included with the price of admission so it made it more worth it. The corn maze was fun and it was one activity that we did not have to wait in line for. If you come here on a weekend, I would expect to need to wait in a long line to do most things - get in the farm, go on the hayride, get food, bathrooms, etc. In terms of food, we got a baked potato, corn on the cob, and two water bottles for $19. We also got two small ice creams and an apple slush for $18. For apple picking, be prepared to walk quite a ways to find apples if you come in mid October - I think the ones toward the pathways had already been picked so we needed to go more towards the center of the fields to find apples. Overall we had fun but did spend kind of a lot.

Yelp
I went there for the 2nd time to pick out peaches and apples. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. I would be definitely be coming back frequently. This is my favorite farm ever!

Yelp
I love Alstede farms.. 2nd time spending time here and the staff is always great..:Yes it is slightly high in price as is everything else in the world at the current moment. But it's a great time to spend with family and I really don't put a price on that.. I do wish the boxes were a bit bigger for stuffing and that would prob be my only issue . My advice? Go early and stuff the boxes as much as you can

Anne S.

Yelp
We LOVE Alstede Farms! The petting zoo is fun! Really enjoyed the goats! Bunnies are free range . So you don't need to report them "escaped " The farm store is well stocked! But I came here to say... skip the pie! The pie crust is very thick and hard with no flavor. And skimpy on the filling. There are lots of other options.

Yelp
Super cute farm! They have different U-Picks based on the season and farm wagons taking you to all the different fruits/veggies available. All the staff was super nice at giving directions while walking around. The farm store was cute and had all the basics we always try to get (honey, apple cider, donuts, sauces, etc.). They have a bounce house, a train ride for kids, animals to feed/pet, and live music. I would definitely return :)
