Alt Hotel Calgary University District (Calgary, Alberta) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Alt’s first LEED-certified hotel is a welcome addition to Calgary’s University District, built with sustainability and community in mind. The lobby features oak walls, polished concrete, and flexible furniture layouts that feel both practical and inviting, while shared spaces like the Library encourage co-working and casual hangouts. Guest rooms are bright, with Canadian-made furnishings, large windows, and bold graphic details. With easy access to local dining, campus life, and the Rockies beyond, it’s well-suited for short stays, extended weekends, and everything in between." - Tablet Hotels

I stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip and I had a great stay! Special thanks to Alex from the front desk team for her excellent customer service. The rooms were spacious, clean, great views and the beds were comfy. I would definitely recommend to all my higher ed colleagues looking for somewhere to stay during the recruitment circuit. Edit: I do agree with another reviewer that low water pressure was my only complaint.

Wonderful stay for our first time in Calgary! After a booking error, the staff quickly upgraded us and even moved our items while we were out. The team was super helpful, keeping me updated via text. The Gold Level experience was definitely worth the extra cost—it included access to a lovely lounge with breakfast and evening snacks. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The location is perfect as well—I self-parked and didn’t need the car for two days.

Alt Hotel Calgary University District is a standout for anyone looking for a comfortable, modern stay in the heart of downtown. The rooms are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. I especially appreciated how comfortable the beds were and the overall sleek, minimalistic vibe that feels both fresh and welcoming. With a central location, everything you need in Calgary is just minutes away, making this hotel a perfect home base for both business and leisure. 🏙️

Rooms are new and trendy. Location is great. Water pressure in room was embarrassing low. Like if someone put in a water restriction at the high they need to be fired. Parking is a complete disaster. Not sure we will be back at the price point which is too bad as this has loads of potential. Free parking and fix your water issue and you are in much better situation.

Had a two night stay and pleasantly Surprised at the quality and value for what was provided. Comfortable bed, clean etc - not a full set of amenities in room such as vanity kits, robes but all the core stuff provided was great. (Towels were threadbare so suggest an improvement there) Definitely as advertised and really like this area - new, clean and a growing abundance of restaurants and shops surround plus good location to base from in Calgary. Service was excellent - easy check in and not a lot required from staff honestly so limited experience in that regard but all was just fine. Parking is $20 a day but secure underground and not unreasonable contrary to other complaints (it’s not a motel) Will stay again.

Came to visit Calgary/Banff area for 5 nights. Our stay here was pretty good overall.||To keep it simple, I’ll tell you the good and bad.||Good:|- Very modern|- Incredibly clean. Spotless.|- There’s an electronic blackout shade that rolls down. Not 100% effective but it does a decent job.|- Nespresso machine in the room that makes a really good coffee|- Close to a lot of restaurants and even a grocery store across the street|- Staff is pretty friendly.|- Views from the hotel are nice||Bad:|- Bed is incredibly stiff and pillows aren’t that great either.|- Tv channels are incredibly limited. No A&E or HGTV… like cmon. Get with the program. They do have tsn and sportsnet tho.|- Rooms offer ZERO sound proofing. Can hear doors slam shut down the hall as they are very heavy doors. You can also hear lots of road noise even from the 9th floor|- No safe in the room|- Fridge is pretty small||If you book through Expedia or any 3rd party, they will allow a 12pm checkout. If you book directly through the hotel they offer 2pm checkout.||Highly recommend OEB breakfast next to the hotel. The food there was great.||Overall, the stay was good but if you value the comfort of beds, I wouldn’t recommend staying here for an extended period.

Enjoyed the stay here. Friendly and welcoming front desk staff, nice views, and modern and clean room. Only cons as others have mentioned were the very low shower water pressure, can’t access/control the room’s fan for white noise and guests have to pay for parking. Despite that, would still stay here again in the future when in Calgary.

This is my second time staying at this hotel for work and each time I have the best time. The location cannot be beat - restaurants, grocery stores and great coffee shops are close by, the rooms are massive and beds are comfortable - they also stock each bathroom which really awesome products (moisturizer, hand soap, etc) I had ordered food and Uber didn’t bring it up to my room, but the front desk staff did! Such great service and I really enjoyed my stay for a second time!

Yelp
One of the cleanest, friendliest, and newest hotels I've stayed at. I was impressed by the modern look and the amenities. It was very comfortable and conveniently located next to restaurants and a grocery store and a 20 minute walk to University of Calgary. I would stay here again.
