Alt Hotel Winnipeg (Winnipeg, Manitoba) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the heart of Winnipeg’s SHED district, just across from the Canada Life Centre, Alt Hotel Winnipeg offers sustainable design with a sharp, urban edge. The 15-story property is Green Key certified, with geothermal heating, floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize natural light, and thoughtful systems to reduce energy and water use. Rooms are bright and minimal, with bold color blocking and local artwork. Downstairs, the lounge draws pre-game crowds and post-show regulars. Service is upbeat, the vibe relaxed, and the location unbeatable. For travelers who value sustainability, good design, and genuinely warm hospitality, Alt keeps things simple, and gets them right." - Tablet Hotels

Alt Hotel Winnipeg is a modern and comfortable hotel located in downtown Winnipeg, Canada. It is close to many important places such as the Canada Life Centre, shopping areas, restaurants, and popular attractions. The hotel has a clean and simple design with cozy rooms that include free Wi-Fi, a television, air conditioning, and a work space. Guests can use the fitness center and enjoy food and drinks at the hotel restaurant and lounge. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel also allows pets. Because of its central location and comfortable rooms, Alt Hotel Winnipeg is a good choice for both tourists and business travelers.

This is in a terrific location downtown. I chose it because of its proximity to the Burt (about 2 blocks away). It has a Tim Hortons in the same building and is a very reasonable walking distance to many other restaurants, shops, and destinations. I was thrilled to find that my room looked directly over the Burt - that was a sweet perk for me! My room was lovely. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge, with plenty of toiletries. My room had only a shower stall (no tub) which I was happy with because I had a broken leg and a tub would have been difficult. The staff was helpful and friendly at all times. My one minor annoyance is that the main hotel doors are kept locked 24/7. You are required to tap your keycard to enter. Unfortunately the box to tap on is a couple steps from the entrance so I never once made it inside withy crutches before the doors closed again (they close quickly!). Thankfully the staff keep a close watch on the door and almost always reactivated the doors for me before I had to make a second attempt. A few extra seconds on the door may make people with disabilities feel more welcome.

I stay here every time I come back to Winnipeg to visit family. (I've also stayed at Alt hotels in Toronto and St. John's.) The prices are competitive, and the quality of rooms and service are consistently great. The Winnipeg hotel is very well located, centrally; and there's parking at an attached garage that's reasonably priced. The staff have always been professional, courteous, and when I've needed an early check-in or late check-out, they've always tried to accommodate my schedule. (Sometimes they can't, of course, but they do try.) I recommend wholeheartedly.

Definitely won’t be going back ! Rooms and building are very modern and look fantastic, I had very high hopes, hoping the staff were similar I was surprised when I arrived and was treated very poorly. Policies are one thing, and I can understand why they are put in place, but I have to think very unhelpful and condescending staff are NOT part of the hotels policy, but yet we were met with such. Felt like a lack of respect and care for a guest, provided no help, no advice , and was basically pushed away. So we decided to go to the Hampton inn, were extremely pleasantly surprised at how kind, helpful and respectful the staff is, and the rooms are absolutely wonderful. I would pass on the alt hotel every lifetime I live :)

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been to please do not stay here. Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel because it looks very nice and modern but the second we got there they were so rude, we were a little bit confused on their card requirements and they were absolutely no help. They gave us no alternative options and basically just turned us away then the next day I checked MY CARD even though my boyfriend was the one who made the reservation and they had charged me $200 even though they turned us away, and we didn’t even stay there so there should be no fee, I don’t even know how they got my card. This is ridiculous. Worst hotel experience ever.

Never had a poor experience at an Alt Hotel and the trend continued in Winnipeg. The hotel is adjacent to the Canada Life Center and ten minutes or so walk from the Forks area. So definitely conveniently situated! Room was clean, modern as expected. Request for extra pillows was sufficiently met and the bed was super comfortable. Overall great experience. Ice machines on 2 floors, 9 & 14 - industrial sized ones with good output. Ice buckets in the room are almost comically large. Better than the inverse I suppose. Note as of October 2025 there is an undeniably enticing popcorn machine cooking up corns in the lobby bar. But it's not free.

I had a wonderful stay at Alt Hotel Winnipeg. The rooms were spotless, modern, and very comfortable, creating a relaxing environment throughout my visit. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming and stylish, making it a great place to unwind. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful, which made my experience even more enjoyable. I truly appreciated their warm hospitality. I would definitely recommend Alt Hotel Winnipeg to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay in the city.

Absolutely STELLAR experience with the Alt Hotel. The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff, particularly Baasit at the front desk (I hope I spelled his name correctly), were exceptional. He went above and beyond to help me with a particularly awkward arrival time and made sure the entire stay was a top experience. I plan to visit Winnipeg yearly, and will now absolutely book here every time.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this Hotel in Downtown Winnipeg but it's just too inconvenient and lacks the most basic amenities and features if you are staying more than 2-3 days. I stayed here for a week and a half. The staff tried to be helpful but many of them had no idea what was open around town, couldn't make restaurant suggestions outside of the one next door and had no idea how to go about using their third party laundry service. They all just work. This location is right next to the life centre so great for short stays but be prepared for the two restaurants nearby to be jam packed if there are any events. I would also add that the hotel is beautiful inside and the rooms were updated nicely. The function of the rooms need major work. All in all, if I were staying for a short time (2-3 days), I would come back. Any longer stay, I would choose a different hotel in a better part of the city. PROS: - Close to the life centre & has 2 restaurant/bars right next door. - Beautiful hotel and clean/updated rooms - Nicely setup for storage space in the bathroom - Blackout curtains - Above average gym equipment - Many taxis in the area CONS: - No water provided for guests - Only 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels provided - Super small shower that leaks everywhere - The two pane windows are very thin and you can expect to hear every yell, every siren and every speeding motorcycle in your room, as the sounds echo off of the buildings. I was woken up at least 4 times per night from all the noise. - Staff is not very knowledgeable or helpful in helping you find places to go. They also don't make it easy to grab a coffee or a drink since they have to make it in the back. - No on-site laundry services - The rooms require you to insert your card to turn on the lights, that are located at the door. Super inconvenient and kind of a silly feature. Just let people hit the light switch like normal. - I tried taking a call in the lobby lounge but the staff vacuums the lobby for a while every morning while people are coming and going. This work should be done in the evenings. - The lights in the lobby can give you vertigo. They constantly slowly strobe on and off. It's another "artistic" feature that doesn't really work for a lobby.

Yelp
Alright, despite my four star rating, I want to clarify that this is not a "four-star" hotel in terms on amenities. However, for the price you pay and the location, it's pretty good. The hotel is quite modern and new. Their lockboxes are electronic and seem to be wi-fi enabled or something. In order to turn on the lights, you need to insert your key card into a slot near the door. I kind of like this as it helps save electricity. The beds were super comfy as well. While breakfast is only continental, I'm glad there was something. The location is also good as it is right across from the MTS Centre and only a short walk from the Convention Centre. It's good for a short stay.

Yelp
Can I just copy and paste Bernie C's review? This hotel exactly fit my needs as I was in town for a Jets game. Right across the street from the rink and good internet service so I could work during the day before the game. The modern flair of everything was neat, but not many frills aside from the internet. Perfectly good for my two night stay but I think I would want a little more for a longer vacation.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! Everything and everyone was absolutely amazing! I had communicated via Expedia message that we were celebrating my friends clean cancer scan by going to Cher. Driving 8 hours to Winnipeg from Minneapolis. These amazing people gave us a fabulous room on the 19th floor... And.... When we checked in..... A flower arrangement with a beautiful hand made note was sitting on the desk, welcoming us and cheering on my beautiful friend, celebrating her strength and courage. Cher cancelled due to illness and if it works for all of these amazing people we really would have been down. So.... Many many thanks to Alt, Ace, Sharon, Catherine, Sahil, Nicholas, Mursal and Dwayne.... And if I missed anyone I am so sorry. We had a most amazing time, despite Cher cancelling. We are anticipating a new date. We pray we can get back there and we will surely stay at Alt and say hello to our new friends! THANK YOU ALL AT ALT! YOU ARE THE EPITOME OF EXCELLENCE IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY!!!

Yelp
I stayed here for a business trip and found the staff to be harassing and incompetent. They charged me incorrectly and took no responsibility for the error. Do yourself a favor and stay in a better part of town with better customer service.
