Altamont West Hotel

The best two things about the hotel are the location and the staff. Located perfectly, enabling walking distance to nightlife, park, food and beach. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Stayed here April 2024 and am returning in a couple of weeks' time. As other people have commented, the hotel is in need of sprucing up a little, hopefully things have improved on my return, but as stated, the location and staff make up for any downsides.

I was very disappointed with my stay. When I checked in, the room had no AC on. which made our stay very uncomfortable first impression. The next morning, I was told Jamaican breakfast was finished at 8:30 a.m., but the following day there was no chef available and I was told to walk to a sister hotel for breakfast. This was very inconvenient.The room itself felt very cramped, with no dresser to put clothes, no fan in the bathroom, and overall did not match the comfort I expected. Too many steps, poor lighting when sat on patio I was told the light does not come on when we were having a bite to eat. The best part of our stay was the front desk staff and the housekeepers. For the price and location, I was hoping for a much better experience.

I arrived at the resort on July 1st. It was pretty much what I paid for nothing fancy. I appreciated the peace and quiet for the most part. However, at one point while I was sleeping, it got a bit noisy outside my room. I think a group of guys were hanging out nearby, and it created quite a disturbance. Other than that, it was an okay stay. The location was great close to the beach and restaurants. The scenery was beautiful. Check-in went smoothly, but I did have one issue. When I went to the front desk to ask about breakfast and where the cafeteria was, an employee informed me that breakfast would not be served on the property. Instead, it was being offered at another location just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. That was disappointing. I’m not sure if it was just for that day or if it’s always like that, but I was turned off by the experience. After that, I didn’t bother asking again. I simply chose to go off the property and have breakfast elsewhere for the remainder of my stay.

Its my worst experience ever.. its new but not up to date.. no elevator a lot of turns and stairs pools allthe way in the back old antique stuff all aroun as if a rasta person own it ykyk. Room was ok tv barely show any station fyi not a smart tv..and no food here no cook at allbut yet they are available for making breafast in the morning but as if kitchen close from 4 i guess.. other than that its close to everything kfc harmony park pelican porkpit doctorscave an so on.. would i come again no i wouldnt.. but yall can try it urself... and i know u guys will delete my post

Came back to Jamaica for a funeral and just needed a clean place to rest at night. BUT. I found this hotel absolutely perfect. The room was large, and AC worked perfectly. The bathroom was very nicely updated. The housekeepers were fantastic. They work really hard at keeping the place clean. All the staff we came across were super friendly. We had breakfast here and it was always 👌. Ordered from the restaurant a few times in the evenings and portions were huge. Definitely worth it if you just want to stay in. The area was nice as well. Went walking in both directions and can't wait to be able to come back.

Positive: With the exception of the young staff lady at the restaurant your staff was pleasant and helpful. Negative: On the morning of check out I had breakfast at the restaurant and had a unpleasant encounter with a restaurant staff, same young lady that was there the night I checked in. Part of my breakfast was cold, poor attitude, poor service and was ignored.

Loved this place. Marcia was an absolute sweetheart and so welcoming. I did receive some unsatisfactory service from another girl but was unable to catch her name. Rooms are big and have bathtubs. Food was good, pool was decent. Public beach is straight across so you don't have to pay for it. KFC is right down the road and honestly it's a good place. Parking is scarce. Lol

Our flight was cancelled, so we had to find a place close to Montego Bay airport for the night. We had no issues with this hotel. Check in was pretty easy, we had to wait a few extra minutes for housekeeping, but the AC was cold and the shower was hot. There is a bar and a small, clean pool. We walked to a nearby restaurant and the next morning, they helped us get a ride back to the airport.
