Altamont West Hotel

Came back to Jamaica for a funeral and just needed a clean place to rest at night. BUT. I found this hotel absolutely perfect. The room was large, and AC worked perfectly. The bathroom was very nicely updated. The housekeepers were fantastic. They work really hard at keeping the place clean. All the staff we came across were super friendly. We had breakfast here and it was always 👌. Ordered from the restaurant a few times in the evenings and portions were huge. Definitely worth it if you just want to stay in. The area was nice as well. Went walking in both directions and can't wait to be able to come back.

Our flight was cancelled, so we had to find a place close to Montego Bay airport for the night. We had no issues with this hotel. Check in was pretty easy, we had to wait a few extra minutes for housekeeping, but the AC was cold and the shower was hot. There is a bar and a small, clean pool. We walked to a nearby restaurant and the next morning, they helped us get a ride back to the airport.

Service was great! Jamaicans are very kind and friendly. Located across the road from beach, and restaurants within walking distance. Rooms could be updated, it was comfortable and clean.

Comfortable and clean room. Affordable food , great tasting food and good portion size and nice menu selections. The staff was friendly and genuinely cared about your experience. Especially the reception staff that checked me in. Great service overall.

Arrived ystdy and greeted by a woman on the steps welcoming us to the hotel. There was space to park in the car park at the front of the building. Danique at reception was vey cheerful and pleasant, lovely young lady. This hotel does not have any elevators but we were assisted with the suitcases up to our room. |The room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet and peaceful. We were upgraded and very pleased with the room.|Tea making facilities with a fridge and microwave. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a safe and cable tv.|Breakfast was beautiful, plentiful and tasty. Marcia, our server gave excellent service with a smile and made us feel relaxed and welcomed. |This hotel is in a good location and has a unique feel with artwork from around the world situated in all locations of the hotel. I have already booked my last night stay here and happy with my choice.

I experienced a flight delay that caused me to get to Jamaica the morning after my intended arrival, so my trip didn't start well. |However...||When I communicated with the staff at Altamont West I received a level of empathy and communication that made it simple to adjust my reservation -- and when I did arrive, I was greeted with that same energy and a warmth that made me very comfortable to call Altamont West home for the few days I was there. ||Special big up to Daniek, Tashika, Tamika, Lyneeca (might be misspelling this one), Sheldon and Donovan. Nuff respect for the vibes!

Not for me but if you want to stay in a popular area walking distance to everything then this spot is great. Not much parking and noisy if you have a lot of people in. The rooms are very basic just for sleeping. The bed was hard and mosquitoes filled the room. Old looking and my tv didn't work so they fixed it twice but they do offer free breakfast but I did not try. It's OK just not for me.

So, I usually only write a review when something has annoyed me and this is no exception. But let me prefix this review as a generally positive as the hotel was just what we needed and the place was functional, well laid out and easy to get to. ||What has prompted me to leave a review is the seeing the difference friendliness can make to our experience. Breakfast day 1 and the lady who helped us was lovely, chatty, helpful an generally a positive. Whereas on day 2 the lady who was running the restaurant was absolutely miserable, unfriendly, unhelpful and quite rude. A real pity as she was the only negative to what we thought was an adequate hotel stay considering the price point and what we needed.
