"Handmade Sweets in Fatih I loved meeting kind and generous shop owners throughout my trip in Istanbul . Mustafa Altan owns this candy shop with his son (pictured here) where they make the most delicious Turkish Delight and hard candies just above the shop. I came back twice to pick up more rose Turkish Delight and cinnamon candies for gifts."

This is a fantastic addition to any visit to Istanbul. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff who introduced us to the various sweet treats on offer. So many to choose from that we actually returned a few minutes later to buy more! The shop has been operated by the same family for generations, which adds to the rare charm of the place. Many of their sweets are made in the traditional Turkish way or with real fruit juice (unlike other sweet makers). Highly recommended!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Forget about the “famous” Turkish delight shop you see in tourist centers and try Altan. Their Turkish delight is softer, more flavorful, and with much greater variety, and their prices are very fair. I took home 5 boxes to share. Support this excellent small business.

Great service to include English speaking staff.. paid with credit card.. and fantastic Turkish delight.. Definitely worth walking a little bit from the bazaar for better products and a much nicer experience..!

Phenomenal candy shop with amazing choice and great prices. You can get one kilo of mixed candies for 350 l. The person who attended me was extremely helpful and had me taste a couple of them.

Great little sweet shop that's stood since 1865. Everything I tried from here was delicious. They serve Turkish delight and more traditional sugary sweets. They take both cash and card.

As a tourist, I've always wanted to try authentic lokum but found the bazaars intimidating and the high-end shops like HM and others over priced. This place has none of those. In fact it caters to locals and sells their high quality lokums without the marketing and touting, I would say a traditional candy shop. Walked in at 645pm just before they are closed, still managed to be shown around the shop, tried a bunch of lokums. Prices are definitely reasonable, 400TL/kg for lokums, and 800TL/kg for the ones with pistachios (I skipped the candies and chocolate coated almonds) . The ones with pistachios were amazing and we liked it despite not having the sweet tooth. They sell by weight and they have different packages (they weigh before packing and tell you the weight) : a simple paper bag for grab and snack, 300g boxes, 500g boxes, 1kg boxes. They can even tie a ribbon on the boxes which are meant for gifting. We left with about 800TL of approx 1kg lokums (mixed) and highly satisfied. Highly recommended if you are interested in lokums but are scared of being touted or paying too much. It also a short walk from Egyptian bazaar.

Gem of a spot. The best delights I've tasted throughout my 3 weeks in Turkey. Sweet and chewy but without being overbearingly so...and no gelatin either! I have learned it's a family run business dating back several generations, and it is wonderful to support an all female run business! Definitely recommend.

This is a beautiful little store a little bit north of the Outside Spice Bazaar. This area is worth visiting, the ladies were super sweet... even though their English isn't great, the spirit and smiles make up for it

Yelp
I was looking for some good Turkish Delight in Istanbul and looked on trip-advisor to see where I should go. And many suggested "Altan Sekerleme" so we (my friend & I) tracked our way threw the local streets (out of the major tourist spots) to find Altan Sekerleme. It took us a while (on Google it said it's a 28 mins walk from our hotel (next to the Blue Mosque) but it took us almost an hour going threw the old spice bazaar, pass the local warehouse /whole sale area where the locals (not tourist) get the stuff. We almost gave up but we asked a delivery service place where it may be (we asked a lot of locals who didn't know the location but we figure delivery peeps always know where to deliver stuff, they where great help) we finally found it and fell in love with the place. It's worth the trip. They have home made Turkish delight. No artificial dye, all natural stuff, made upstairs. The owner is a nice sweet older man who was sitting by the door. His son is the one who helped us cause he spoke a little English. We got the try lots of different delights (all with gloved hands & behind an enclosed display) very clean. They have the best prices. I didn't expect that I would leave with 2 kg of candy for 51 tl & my friend got just as much, it would have cost me twice as much for the same amount elsewhere. We would come back again next time we visit Istanbul.
