Where to Eat, Stay, Play in San Miguel de Allende for Colorful Design and Buzzy Cafes | Condé Nast Traveler
"I went up to Altar, the rooftop above Doce 18 (open from 1 p.m. until late), where cathedral views meet modern Mexican cuisine—shareable plates include grilled Ranchero cheese and a bluefin tuna tiradito, followed by items like pork belly tacos and braised shortrib in mole." - Megan Spurrell
The food and drinks at this restaurant were very good, and the atmosphere and view were truly spectacular—definitely a memorable setting. However, I unfortunately became ill after my meal and suspect that the chicken I ordered may have caused it. I hope this is just an isolated incident, as everything else about the experience was excellent.

I think this might be the newest restaurant in all of San Miguel. It has the largest rooftop and it's the only one facing the front of the church which is very unique!
We went one of the first days they were open.
Food was off the charts!!!
The only thing missing was me having a bigger stomach because we ordered about a third of the menu! Every single item was perfectly served. The chef also owns two other restaurants in town that are five stars. This is definitely the flagship for sure.
The lighting at night, ambiance, music and views of the church were perfect.
Skip all the touristy places put this one on the top of your list. I've been living here for 3 years and the variety and the menu is so big I could see myself eating here 3 days a week.
The prices were medium level so the value for the peso was much better than a lot of the other restaurants in Centro.
Look for the gringo with the pork tomahawk and a margarita sitting in the corner and that's probably me!!

I have been twice and both experiences were wonderful. My personal favorites cheese flautas and the red snapper, but everything is so good! They have really nice mocktail and cocktails the are fresh and delicious. The views and atmosphere is stunning.

Entrance is through the lobby. Everyone we interacted with was SUPER nice and attentive. Their food is banging. Flavorful and generous portions. We had the gaonera tacos and the jitomate salad. The sopes were great too. Their red sauce was sweet with barely any spicy to it. They have a good habanero sauce I tried if you’re into spicy. To drink we had the non-alcoholic Gaia’s which were refreshing and delicious. View is nice and they have some lounge areas too if you prefer to come up to sit and have drinks. Also, they’re pet friendly.

Great views any direction you look in, the building is low but the vista is wide. Unfortunately the wind was unusually strong the evening I was there. The margarita was very good, due to the weather we didn’t stay and eat, but based on the canapés they severed with the drinks the food will be excellent. A really good addition to rooftops in San Miguel

Altar, newly opened roof top. Wow what a great surprise!
Brand new bar and restaurant above the restaurant & hotel.
Super friendly receptionist. Once you enter the lift you won’t believe! Seats available! Once you get there the staff will give the opportunity to choose your table. More formal restaurant setting or the chill areas surrounding by beautiful plants , comfy sofas and massive tables all lit up with candle lights. The atmosphere is incredible. The drinks list expand enough to cater every taste. I highly recommend the Mezcalitas, wow!
The staff is very professional and super attentive. Probably The Best roof top in San Miguel so please visit and enjoy!

Gorgeous rooftop restaurant with live music on the night we went and a stunning view of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. The tacos are so delicious!
