Altis Belém Hotel & Spa

"So, can you tell us a little about this place? This five-star riverfront hotel draws upmarket travelers with its posh spa, roof deck, and striking architecture. It’s tough to beat the rooftop pool, which has views of the Tagus, and the swank décor. The only downside? How hard it is to leave. Sounds great! How's the crowd?A stark but elegant palette—leather furniture and black-and-white marble throughout—sets the tone for the clientele: well-traveled hotel geeks with a knack for class. Excellent. How was check in?The lobby can get busy at peak check-in and check-out times, so plan accordingly. Got it—and thanks for the heads-up. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.Rooms have either river or garden views. Each room is decorated to evoke the regions once explored by the Portuguese, such as Brazil and West Africa. Sounds lovely. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or the shower goodies? Was there anything that made your stay more comfortable?Rooms have all the perks you'd expect, including Nespresso machines, free wifi, and minibars. Suites have balconies and whirlpool tubs; some have separate living areas. Perfect. How about room service and the dining options? Worth it?At Feitoria Restaurant & Wine Bar, Lisbon’s only Michelin-starred hotel restaurant, chefs cooks with spices meant to evoke the ones Portuguese explorers brought back from their travels during the Age of Discovery era. If that’s not your speed, there are several other dining options on site. Great. How about the staff? The staff here operates at the top of their game—so tip accordingly. Noted. Any other services or features you'd like to call out? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Half the reason to stay here is the exclusive BSpa by Karin Herzog, offering everything from oxygen therapy to massages. And if the weather calls for it, the rooftop pool is the best place in town to forget your cares. We'll have to check it out. So, at the end of the day, why are we booking a room here?Come here for a styled-out getaway—especially if it’s a special occasion." - Jenna Scatena

Altis Belém Hotel & SPA (Lisbon, Portugal) 9 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Lisbon is a city whose hotel scene seems sometimes a little too in touch with its ancient character. So a hotel like Altis Belém is playing very much against type — and a sign that the hyper-modern, hyper-luxe look that’s now so familiar in Madrid and Barcelona is spreading to the furthest reaches of the Iberian peninsula." - Tablet Hotels

Where to Stay in Lisbon When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I regarded this riverside luxury hotel as an excellent base in Belém: its 50 unique rooms have soundproof windows, blackout shades, Egyptian cotton linens, and some rooms offer balconies; the in-house Michelin-starred restaurant Feitoria serves elevated Portuguese cuisine." - Matthew Kepnes

We did the spa & brunch experience here. You go into the brunch first and then get treatments afterwards. The brunch was fabulous, a gorgeous selection of hot food, salads, cheese, meats, breads and their dessert selection was so delicious. We went up a few times and left extremely satisfied. Wine was also really nice. However, the staff were the real standout of the time we spent in the hotel - especially in the restaurant. They could not have done any more for us, were so friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Maira and Pedro. Would highly recommend a day here if you are coming to Lisbon, a great experience!

Google
Highly recommend! The views, the staff, the location — all spectacular. The Michelin Star restaurant was incredible. The staff called me by name, and the property was exquisite. It rained while I was here so I Ubered to Lisbon, which was very reasonable and easy. It is also walkable.

The good things about this hotel is the location and views (if you have a room facing the sea or harbour). The location is about a 20 minute cycle/scoot from the main town and it’s a lovely journey along the sea front. We had an issue with our room when we arrived (it smelt strongly of cigarette smoke). We asked to be moved and Antonio the receptionist made this easy and seamless and upgraded us to a beautiful room. Very impressed with his professionalism and handling of the matter: Breakfast was nice and the views were good. Ricardo was a fantastic waiter. Someone all staff should aspire to be. There is a great spa and the rooftop pool is lovely. The gym is pretty small and useless if you like to train heavy weights. The cons, original room was close to the tram line and would have been noisy. Housekeeping could have been better, our decaf coffee wasn’t replaced nor was the fruit teas- how to request them. Other than that, would highly recommend this hotel.

Ema and all of the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was stunning with every amenity available. Clean and spacious. The spa was much needed after a long day of travel! Definitely will stay here again.

I stayed at the Altis Belem from 06/27/2025 to 07/03/2025; a review which is long over due. I had an amazing time at the Altis Belem, I guess being a Marriott Titanium elite member, they upgraded me to their amazing corner suite. But most importantly wanted to talk about 2 great employees Renato Ferreira Antonio Penedo They both went above and beyond to make my (and my family’s) stay comfortable and pleasant from very small things to any request I made. They did everything with a smile and always being polite. 2 very amazing individuals. I really hope they gets the recognition that they absolutely deserve.

Google
We picked this hotel due to its proximity to the water; however, this hotel was perfect with all the surrounding history, food, and things to see. When we come back to Lisbon, this will be the hotel we stay at. A little issue with the AC but in the end the service was the best I have ever had. Registration sat down with us and explained everything we could see and do. Provided maps, directions and suggestions which kept us busy and fed all day. I have never had such great service until this vacation. Miss Tome was awesome!

Google
A perfect getaway from the hustle of the city center. It's right on the waterfront and has nice restaurants in the surrounding area. I am a fan of this hotel and its staff. The front staff made a world of an impression on me. I am grateful to have stayed here.

Google
Highly recommend this great hotel on the waterfront just off the beaten path of town center. We walked or used scooters to enjoy the breeze and sunsets every night. Such a walkable city! Great staff! Great food. Beautiful rooftop pool. Easy to get to from airport.

Yelp
There are so many reasons why we love this hotel. The location is right in between two historical monuments and a hop away from the monastery. Our room had a water view and we slept with the windows open each night to bask in the ocean smells and the nighttime ambience. The room itself was gigantic and the automated buttons around the room were super convenient so we could get into bed and turn off the lights, or open the blackout curtains, etc. The staff was lovely, attentive and so accommodating. We had breakfast, lunch and drinks there and each time the service was top notch. European style but more engaged than the servers in other European countries - they even smiled! Now let's talk about the building. It is super modern and cleverly designed so each part of the hotel has a view of the water. It sounds like each room has an individual feel and layout so that is also intriguing. Not a cookie cutter hotel by any stretch of the imagination. We have never been blown away by this level of design, location and service with such affordable prices. We have stayed in hotels twice the cost in the states and were treated like dirt (nyc, San Fran, California). We will definitely be coming back to Lisbon and when we do, we will book here immediately. Don't hesitate, it is the best hotel we have experienced in all of Europe.

Yelp
This hotel was nothing short of amazing. I travel very frequently and this has to be by far the best hotel that I have stayed in, considering all of the amenities and extra touches that were included. The parking is free, which was great because we had a rental car. Our room was facing the marina and was amazing. There was a large shower and separate soaking tub. Each night, they placed cookies on the bed. Free breakfast was included and had an assortment of fresh fruits, juices, cheeses, smoked fish and meats. They will also cook eggs a different style upon request. We also visited the spa, which had an indoor pool, steam room and sauna. There was also a rooftop pool which was gorgeous as well and overlooked the marina and had views of the river and bridge. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Lisbon!

Yelp
While you have a pretty waterfront location here, it's far away from the touristy stuff and some of the rooms face the road and are very noisy. We had a nice room with a balcony, the rooms are spacious, although the decor is too modern and borderline cheap, I don't like veneer and the black and white theme was not very Lisbon. There are other issues, the door to the bathroom is heavy and black, at night it's really annoying to deal with, and if you leave it open it doesn't provide access to the toilet, bad design. The bathroom has no fan, but the AC seems to take care of the issue. The bed was OK but a bit hard, so we asked for comforters on top, their first response was the bed is comfortable, obviously not for me. The second was we are not sure we have extra comforters, in which case I had to stop being nice and demand they do what I asked. For a five star hotel, they were failing fast in terms of service. The gym only opened at 9am, it was tiny and next to the sauna so it was hot and humid, who came up with this brilliant design and hours, how is anyone supposed to work out in the morning? While we enjoyed our large room, yes they are quite large for European rooms and view, I would not recommend this for first-time visitors to Lisbon as the location is not great and for the price, you can find better hotels.

Yelp
This is THE WORST experience I've had dealing with a hotel company. I booked back in February and did their online check in a few days ago. Literally an hour before we were supposed to arrive, I received an EMAIL from their hotel saying they couldn't accommodate us with no reason given. I called and they offered to switch us to a hotel they claimed was equivalent which it was not. The hotel we wanted to stay in is located in Belem the water district. They wanted to put us in a four state in the Barria Alta district which is loud, uncouth, and unsafe. So, we were left without a reason or place to stay that night and I will ensure that none of my Internet friends and family ever stay at a sister or brother company of this place Ever. No apologies from them or explanation why we were bumped. I paid them back in February and am still waiting on my refund. They give Portugal a bad name.

Yelp
We needed a little modern luxury after a few weeks in Morocco and Altis Belem delivered that as well as a great location. The amenities are so good. Swimming in the indoor pool in the spa was magical at night and it was nice to have a sauna and hamman. The service was top notch. Our room had a view of Belem tower and the marina and we could interact with the architecture by controlling the decorative metal screens that covered the building and the wall that was completely glass and had a sliding door. Located in Belem you can't get much closer to the monastary and the tower although it's a bit quite at night in the area which was actually a plus for us. There was some wear and tear in the bathroom with lots of scratches on the counters and the tub wasn't very deep. The rooms are a good size with a sitting area and desk and the wifi was excellent. We ate lunch at the bar as well as dinner at the more casual restaurant that served some excellent sushi. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast though I wish the bacon was crisp.

Yelp
Tranquil and uncrowded. Like the streets of Lisbon, this spa is lined top to bottom with limestone -- don't slip (http://online.wsj.com/articles/in-lisbon-some-residents-fear-citys-distinctive-sidewalks-1401675907)! Be prepared to be pitched all manner of Swiss creams on the way out.
