One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve stayed in over 500 hotels worldwide. Despite booking a double room, we were given twin beds and told it was “subject to availability.” Tried to explain that's not how it works, but they seemed oblivious to reputed booking platforms and their policies.
Breakfast, which was included in my booking, turned into a unpleasant, prolonged argument before staff finally admitted their mistake.
Upon checkout, we were again wrongly charged for a “late checkout” despite prior reporting of checkout to reception. Which was waived after confronting the morning receptionist, who was available by chance.
The car park is a nightmare, narrow, chaotic, and poorly managed. For a $600 a night for a room only, this was an appalling experience in every way.
Response to Hotel:
While I appreciate the hotel’s reply, I’d like to clarify a few points for future guests.
First, whether a booking is made last minute or not is entirely a guest’s choice, it should not affect the standard of service provided.
If the hotel cannot accommodate requests for double rooms made close to arrival, it should not list two separate options at different rates. When booking through Trip.com, I deliberately paid the higher rate for a double room, not the lower “bed type to be determined by the hotel” option.
As for breakfast, yes, it was eventually waived, but only after the staff repeatedly denied that I had already paid, disturbing us nearly ten times and turning what should have been a simple matter into an unpleasant argument. If that doesn’t constitute poor service, I’m not sure what does.
I also informed the front desk of my checkout, but the staff member “forgot” to record it, (as the author claimed later, he's forgetful") consistent with the general disorganization I experienced during my stay. The same staff member had earlier permitted me (on record) to park for a few extra hours, though that too seemed to have been forgotten later.
The author of the reply was not present at my checkout as claimed that initiated "an overstay"; however, she did assist when I was stuck in the chaotic car park, for which I was grateful.
She offered to waive the parking fee, but I paid it on principle.
Overall, my advice to future guests: be cautious when booking. This level of disarray and repeated questioning of paid services may be considered “normal” here, but it certainly shouldn’t be
