Altitude On Montville

While this place has real potential, it's unfortunate to say that maintenance has clearly fallen by the wayside. Our room itself was pleasant enough upon arrival – all surfaces were clean and the room was made up well, but that's about it. The spa bath produced a large amount of biofilm, indicating that it is not being properly maintained, and likely has not been cleaned for some time. The exterior of the bath itself was also very dirty, with mould present. The showers were less than fantastic, with the shower heads themselves being filthy and obviously in need of cleaning or replacing, as the water pressure was poor and inconsistent. The free WiFi is almost not worth using. Montville has surprisingly weak mobile reception (which is fine), but you will find that the WiFi on offer to guests is no better. A modest upgrade here would make a huge difference. I don't enjoy posting reviews like this. But for the price, we won't be returning any time soon. Hopefully things turn around in the future at Altitude on Montville – with a few small improvements, this place could really be fantastic. Sadly, its current state indicates that management lack pride in their venue.

My husband booked this for a night away and we ended up checking in and 10 minutes later checking back out. Most definitely not a romantic or luxurious room. The spa was dirty and the road noise was terrible even for the short time we assessed the room. The rooms were neatly presented but everything was in need of a deep clean. The carpet felt greasy and there was a damp stagnant smell. This place really needs some maintenance and a possible upgrade. More suited for a corporate type stay definitely not a romantic weekend away as advertised.

We booked this accommodation to celebrate my partner’s birthday and Christmas, and we have been staying here since yesterday. Although the reception was closed, the key was thoughtfully prepared at the door, which initially gave us a very positive impression of the hotel’s service. However, once we entered the room, several issues became apparent. The bathroom was designed for disabled access, and unlike the photos shown online, when we opened the window in front of the spa, there was no view at all. Instead, we were met with people walking past and making eye contact with us, which made it uncomfortable to keep the window open. We then tried to watch Netflix, but the internet connection was extremely slow and buffered constantly throughout the entire day. The most distressing experience occurred during the night, when a cockroach crawled onto the bed and over our bodies while we were sleeping. Both of us were terrified and unable to sleep for the rest of the night. As a result, what was meant to be a joyful Christmas and birthday celebration turned into a horror-like experience. We also noticed stagnant, dirty water collected beneath the window, which makes us wonder if this may be related to the cockroach issue. Overall, the room felt unhygienic, the expected view was nonexistent, and finding a cockroach in a hotel room is completely unacceptable.

POOR. Nothing luxurious about it. Dirty. The kitchen items come from Aldi or Kmart and are broken or bent. The apartment was not serviced - 1 day out of 3 we had 2 towels swapped. The kitchen bin was emptied. The floors filthy, the microwave filthy, the shower glass needs a good clean, the shower tiles are mouldy. The bedroom cupboard doors dont slide properly. The entry was via the rubbish area, the steps filthy. NO reception, very poor Wifi, the Tv didn't even work all the time. This morning a staff member parked me in in the loading dock. She said this is a loading dock, I said yes we are loading the car. She parked right in front of me and tried to run into my car. It is on a main road, so lots of traffic noise - people and cars. NO view not like the marketing. The resturant only opens Friday and Saturday evening. Its a 5 minute walk to the pub up the road.

Stayed there a few years ago and it was excellent. Seems to have changed ownership since and is more like a 2 star motel than luxury hotel! Room smelt musty & had to be sprayed. No hangers in closet….”oh we don’t put hangers in there because the guests take them….” The restaurant is a seperate business - as I was quite rudely told when I went to request some ice. No on-site cafe/breakfast with restaurant opening when it feels like it. No way can this continue to justify 4 star (or 5 star) hotel classification & prices.

We as a family and extended family and friends were staying here to attend a wedding. It was really convenient, because we could walk from there to the wedding reception. All the rooms were clean, neat and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay at Altitude on Montville.

Nice view and clean room. I had difficulty with the website and accidentally booked two rooms and was refunded without any trouble. There is no lift but the man at reception carried my very heavy bag. The bathroom was a bit quirky as it was open on two sides and had two showers. There was a blind that you could pull down between the bedroom and the bath room. There was a spa bath on the veranda but we did not use it. There was quite a bit of traffic noise, but it calmed down at about 8pm. Otherwise, the room was quiet and we did not hear our neighbours.

Really nice place to stay. Room was spacious and nice bathroom. The spa on the veranda was fabulous and a great view from the top floor. The area is nice and quiet.I would stay again. The town of Montville is close and it is a lovely town.

As my dad's 50th birthday was approaching, I had to think of somewhere special we could stay. I then came across Altitude. We arrived in the 3rd week of Altitude being open for operation. All I can say is, the photos you see on the Altitude website and hotel booking websites, are identical to the product you receive. I booked a 2 bedroom apartment and a single room suite. The two bedroom apartment was spacious, had a large living area and a fantastic view of the hinterland and ocean. The suite didn't have a large living area, but had a couch which you could sit in front of the fire place and a spa on the balcony which is simply to-die-for. The complementary chocolate, fudge, port and bottles of water in the suite are a very nice touch. I simply can't fault this place. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and unique, the staff feel like a family and are very approachable, and the location is perfect. If you're coming to montville, give Altitude a try.
