"Built in 1953 on the site of Aruba 's first Roman Catholic church, this humble chapel, whose name means "high view" in Spanish, earns its moniker and then some. Make the winding trip up the hill to see the best sunset of your life, enjoy breathtaking vistas of the entire island, or sit and meditate in the stone pews. On your way up, be sure to note the white crosses dotting the path. They mark the 14 stations of the cross and are the reason locals make pilgrimages to this chapel every Good Friday."

The church is in a gorgeous setting with the cacti as its background. You may go in and light a candle or sit on a bench for peaceful meditation. The inside of the church is absolutely stunning. A labyrinth is also available to walk quietly and peacefully through.

Alto vista , Chapel – A Peaceful Stop with Modest Offerings We visited Alto Vista Chapel expecting to experience something more historical. The main site—the chapel—is actually relatively new, which was a bit surprising. It took us nearly 20 minutes of driving to reach the area, and while the journey itself was calm and scenic, the destination was quite simple. With all due respect, the most interesting part of the visit for me was seeing the captos scattered around the surroundings. They were genuinely eye-catching—colorful, unique, and definitely worth a look. They added a special touch to the environment. That said, the main attraction of this place is clearly its religious value. For those who are Christian or Catholic, it may be meaningful to visit and pay respects. Outside of that, there isn’t much else drawing attention to the location as a tourist stop. Overall, it’s a peaceful, humble site that may hold significance for believers, but not necessarily for travelers seeking history or architecture.

Started at Alto Vista Chapel which was very beautiful. I highly recommend coming early in the morning around 6-8am to avoid the ATVs as there are tons that come here as one of their attraction stops. I started at Alto Vista and completed the hike here that was about two hours. The hike consisted of walking the coastline which was absolutely beautiful and so calming. Highly recommend bringing lots of water as it is very hot and not much shade.

From a tourist perspective, it’s not a lot to get excited about, but does make for a nice little excursion while in Aruba. Easy to get to with a few local vendors on hand. The chapel is small, clean, and was open during our visit. No public restrooms, plenty of parking.

Very cozy chapel, be respectful. You can found blue geckos there. Also there are some nice dogs.

Cute little chapel with some history. Enjoyed the visit. Make sure you check out the Peace Labyrinth out back. There are also paths to the side that have some paintings, bird feeders, and lots of boulders and cacti. If you go down behind the chapel some, there is a great ocean view also.

Busy place with a few vendors set up. Church was having roof redone so we couldn't go inside. Lots of trails around the church but watch for all the cactuses!
