Great location on a quiet street that's still very close to the heart of Salzburg. The room was spacious, and the breakfast was great. My partner is gluten free, and the staff was very accommodating, including giving him a selection of several breads and cookies at breakfast.

This hotel is just off the Residenceplatz in Old Town. There are numerous cafes and wonderful eating cafes near by. The hotel is located in a district rich in history and the staff were so kind and helpful. Most spoke English so it made communication easier. Now, do not go here expecting US amenities. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms were also very small. There is no air conditioning but they do provide fans in the rooms. The windows only open slightly so if you get warm easily, this may not be the place for you. The breakfast was homey and tasty served buffet style. They do have one small elevator so if you cannot climb stairs this may not be a good selection. Everything was clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable but due to the age of the building you can hear the pipes clang when toilets or showers are used. The easiest way to get to the hotel is by taxi but the busses are also easy to use. The issue becomes trying to run suitcases on cobblestone streets and this why the taxis are best. They do not allow Ubers access to the Old Town area because they limit the traffic to very few cars due to the amount of pedestrians and bikers. Rent a bike, it’s fun and challenging!

So friendly and so near things to see and do. Their English language skills are great and I heard various languages at breakfast, including Japanese. How often do you get to stay in a hotel that was built in the 1300s? Breakfast in the hotel is really good and I never like buffets.

This may be the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in terms of cleanliness and how the hotel responded to our complaint. We arrived late on Thursday night, so there was no one at the front desk at that time. We were in room 54, which does not have elevator access and was not ideal for my mother who uses a cane. We didn’t raise this ahead of time though, but the website also stated that “elevator/lift is available” so I didn’t think it needed to be raised.|When I went into the bathroom, I was shocked at the clearly visible mold in multiple areas of the bathroom. I get it, it’s an older building and mold is natural, but the amount of it and how apparent it was was shocking. Given the amount we paid for the room, we decided to raise it the next morning when the staff were at the front desk.|When I approached the woman at the front desk (Andrea), I asked if there were any other rooms available, to which she quickly responded no and then asked what the problem was. I said that there was visible mold in multiple areas of the room, and since there were no rooms to switch to, I asked if it was possible that get a reduced rate given this was not up to 4 star standard or price. She said the best she could do was free breakfast. I said no, as we had an early train to catch the next morning and would not be there for breakfast. She then checked the computer, and not one, but two rooms magically became available. I asked why she had said no originally, to which she replied she was looking at the wrong column before. However, she had said no to me originally before even looking at the computer. She also seemed surprised by me telling her there was mold in room 54 - which I found hard to believe given I had easily found Google review from two years earlier about mold in the same exact room, so clearly this is a problem.|At that point, we were done and just wanted to spend as little time in the hotel as possible, so we left but needed to pick something up a few hours later. We had put the do not disturb sign on the door, but when we opened it, it was clear they had entered the room. A super strong smell of bleach filled the room and when we walked into the bathroom, all the mold had been cleaned up. This was interesting, because I hadn’t told them where the mold was exactly in the bathroom, and even the smaller spots above the shower had been cleaned.|I’ve never experienced something like this - to have our concern completely dismissed by the hotel staff, and then for them to rush into the room and clean up the evidence because they did recognize it was a problem. Sorry but a free breakfast and small bottle of champagne does not fix this issue - you need mold remediation and to stop putting guests in this room until this issue is fixed.

Charming small hotel in exceptional location. We stayed here at the beginning of January 2025 and found the hotel ideally situated. The Christmas market was within a short walk as were many other attractions like the cathedral, fortress, squares and palace. The hotel is small but cozily furnished and well looked after. The breakfast was satisfactory and the service fine. The staff were friendly and ready to help. The towels were fluffy and very white. Slightly annoying was the single lift, which was in constant use and the humming noise it generated during most time of the day. At night, people use it less frequently so that it was not an issue. I would stay again at this charming hotel.

This hotel is chic, comfortable, cozy, functional & very well-located. The staff was welcoming & pleasant from check-in to check-out. We knew that the hotel didn’t have air conditioning when we made our reservation & appreciated the fan that was left in our room. Between opening the windows, using the fan & very comfortable beds, we slept very well after walking all day in the summer heat. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. The vending machines with drinks & snacks were appreciated when stores were closed & we were thirsty. From the hotel we walked to Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mozart’s birthplace & Getreidegasse shops, as well as many restaurants. It is a bit of a far walk from the train station (about 25 minutes) so we hopped on a bus to take us back to the train station at the end of our trip. The hotel does have an elevator & our room & bathroom were recently renovated which is much appreciated in an historic building.

A fraudulent stay. We booked a premium triple with dividing curtain in December 2024. The photos on Booking matched those on the website and it looked great. It was expensive at 350€ per night but we were in the center of Salzburg. The hotel is substandard to what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. We feel “ripped off” and will be taking this up with Booking, though I suspect the only option will be to close my account. Travel is full of fraud and disappointment. Fortunately the stays with individual proprietors significantly outshone the corporate providers. A lesson for our next vacation. Attached are two photos of what we expected based on website. The other photo is what we ended up with.

Pros: Cute, comfortable, well utilized space. Felt more spacious than the sq ft. Bed was great. Pillows were terrible. Location downtown side street was perfect. Cons: There was a mechanical hum lasting 10-30 seconds, occurring every couple minutes. Sleep was impossible without good earplugs. we later realized was the elevator. And we were the furthest room from the elevator. It reverberated through the building. Would not stay there again bc of this.

Yelp
Well! I booked this hotel about a year ago. My daughter (who lives in Germany) researched for me and said the location was ideal because it is in the designated pedestrian zone. A few months ago, I read some reviews that stated that this hotel was "utilitarian", "loud", "hot" and that employees were "not very nice". This hotel is not a luxury hotel, if you are looking for that, expect the prices to be much higher and you will find many of these in this area. For me, my single room (my son has one as well) has everything we need. The beds are very comfortable, bathroom has a shower in it and some basic toiletries as well. There is storage space, cupboards and hangers to hang a few items up. A few hooks on the wall too. Our windows face a courtyard (no view) but anywhere you go around the hotel, there are plenty of things to see and do. We find it to be NOT loud.. I would actually call it on the quiet side. Currently the hotel is completely booked and it is still high season. I cannot hear anything in my son's room next door or in the courtyard. I have not yet heard anything from Above or below either. The weather here has been unseasonably warm. Hotels in Europe generally do not have a/c. This hotel (building) was built hundreds of years ago. There is lovely fan provided in my room. My recommendation would be take a shower in the morning and another at night before you go to bed. It helps a lot!. The employees.. our experience here is without exception, the employees here go above and beyond. One of the shining stars here is Marie! She is so sweet, kind and amazingly patient!!! We (cranky tourists) can be quite a lot of work but she is always smiling and always willing to help in any way she can! Additionally, breakfast is served here every morning. It is a buffet and everything is fresh and delicious! There is an extra charge and in my opinion it's a bit pricey but it is super convenient and it is nice to have a quiet breakfast in the hotel before dealing with crowds of other hot and cranky tourists. Worth it to me. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel in a convenient location and you don't necessarily need a luxury hotel, this might be your place! We will definitely come right back here when we return to Salzburg.

Yelp
We loved our stay of three days, our first trip to Salzburg. The breakfast was something to look forward to every day, and the staff were very helpful with everything. We slept very comfortably. Could have used a non-slip mat in the shower, otherwise everything was clean, charming, and convenient. Of course, everyone spoke English better than I spoke German. But they kindly let me try. We are 69 years old, but active, and had no problem walking everywhere in Salzburg, given the very convenient location of Weisse Taube. Highly recommended, and we hope to return.

Yelp
Sleepless In Salzburg: The Altstadthotel, Weisse Taube hotel in Salzburg Austria is in the heart of what's called "old town" by the locals. It's in a historic building dating from 1365. The hotel location is what drove our decision process since it is centrally located right in the middle of the biggest Salzburg tourist destinations (Mozartplatz area). It is also near several bus stops, just a short walk away. The staff was pleasant, helpful and friendly. The lobby area, hallways and rooms are clean and well kept. They even have free wifi. 2 stars? The room we received was tiny and had no air conditioning. We were there at the hottest time of the year and all we had was a small reciprocating fan to blow on us as we tried to sleep. The was no dresser or armoire and practically no closet space. The shower and bathroom were full sized but the sink countertop was nonexistent and could not hold our toiletries. The bed was a large queen size bed with an almost too soft mattress. The pillows were completely mushy and lacked good neck and head support. Even with the window open it was hot inside. The nightly room cost was way too high and at best this was a two star room.

Yelp
Don't do it! This was rated as a 4-star hotel online but it's not. First, there is no AC and the temps were in the 90's during our stay. The room was so hot and the noisy pole fan provided didn't do the job. I actually didn't sleep during my stay. The room is extremely small with minimal space to put anything down. I've actually never seen such a small desk. By the time 2 adults with "stuff" came into the room, it felt even smaller. In addition, there were so few electrical outlets, I had to unplug the fridge to use the pot to heat water for "my" instant coffee. On the plus side, the bathroom was nice and new in appearance with a spacious shower. Again, there was minimal space with a narrow shelf to to hold necessities for 2 people. Didn't quite work. It also got very stuffy with the door closed. On our 4 city European trip, this was the most expense hotel and our least favorite. They are selling location and little else.

Yelp
Spent two nights here and really enjoyed the stay. The location is in a great, close walking distance to the Schloss Hohensalzburg, churches, museums, and shopping streets. The room was fairly nice, and although it overlooked a central street wasn't loud at all. The hotel staff was always very friendly and helpful, providing suggestions for things to do and about Salzburg in general. My only issue is that the doors to the bathroom in the rooms are opaque, so it lights up the entire room in the night when used.
