Altstadthotel Weißes Kreuz (Innsbruck, Tyrol) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A sense of humor goes a long way in any hotel, but it’s especially welcome as a counterpoint to the Baroque self-seriousness that’s found all throughout the heart of Innsbruck. Enter Altstadthotel Weißes Kreuz, a renovated spin on a 15th-century building that once hosted Mozart himself. It’s as if a jilted baroness was let loose on the interiors, free to plop a high-backed suede armchair or a set of globe lamps wherever her sense of arch whimsy dictated. When you’ve had your Habsburg fill, don’t miss the rooftop bar, all decked out in dramatic skylights and candelabras, with serious mixology chops to back it all up." - Tablet Hotels

A lovely hotel in the heart of old town Innsbruck. The hotel was very nice and clean however the rooms lacked several basic amenities such as a refrigerator and phone. The AC in our room was terrible and the thermostat restricts you to adjusting the air only + or - 1.5 degrees C. It was unseasonably warm during our visit and we had essentially no AC. The hotel provided us a Dyson fan that we had to sleep with for 4 nights. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Without the AC issues we would have enjoyed our visit a lot more.

This hotel is in a great location. We stayed 2 nights, and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The staff were very nice, especially the receptionist. We were given a welcome drink upon checkin. The rooms are small, but cozy. Bed was comfortable. Our room had a balcony which was nice to sit out on, but it is not private at all. There is another building with windows looking right at you. The cons of the room are that there is no fridge, no desk & no coffee machine. Adding even a coffee machine would go far

Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz is a gem in the very center of Innsbruck. |Its location is unbeatable: just steps from the Golden Roof and the main pedestrian streets. There’s no on-site parking (the city’s parking garage is about 10 minutes away), and since it’s on a pedestrian street, cars can’t reach the door for luggage drop-off. But once you’re inside, you’re right where you want to be for exploring the old town.|The atmosphere of the hotel is wonderful. The lobby, unusually placed on the top floor, offers beautiful views of the mountains and city rooftops — making breakfast here a special experience. The food itself is simple but very tasty, with a home-made touch.|The service has a warm, personal feel: it’s truly family-run, with the owners themselves working in the hotel and doing their best to make guests feel at home.||Rooms are spacious, fresh from recent renovations, clean, and stylish. Some design choices — like not always having a fully separate bathroom — may surprise some travelers, but the overall comfort is excellent. Amenities include bathrobe and slippers, with iron and board available on request.||In short, this is a hotel that combines history, location, and family hospitality. If you want to be in the heart of Innsbruck, it’s a perfect choice.

Super cool boutique hotel in the heart of it all. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredible and the room was just as great. Given the hotel has a small footprint on the ground, we were greeted outside by a fellow who helped us find the entrance and got us to reception on the top floor. That was super helpful as we might have walked past the place unknowingly. The welcome beer or wine were a great touch. This hotel is in the heart of the old part of the city with an incredible selection of bars and restaurants. All the major attractions are just a few steps away. Our room was definitely matched the vibe of this super cool hotel. It was spacious, especially by European standards where that’s a premium. Most importantly, given the location, the windows definitely kept the revelry out so we could enjoy a good night’s sleep. I will definitely be coming back!

We are from India and have had the chance to travel across Europe, but this hotel truly stands out in one aspect we often miss elsewhere – hospitality. From the moment we checked in until the time we left, the staff went above and beyond. They were genuinely courteous, attentive to every detail, and always willing to go the extra mile to meet our needs. To our surprise, they even provided us with a complimentary city transportation pass. When we mentioned that our next stop was Salzburg, the team thoughtfully handed us a printed guide with site recommendations and dining suggestions, explained with such care that it felt personal. On top of that, the hotel’s location in the heart of the city centre made everything easily accessible. Overall, this stay was nothing short of exceptional, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

We visited/passed through Innsbruck and stayed only one night. Wanting to see the Old Town area, we chose to stay at the Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz. After checking in, we set off on foot to see this charming town, find a restaurant and shop. We returned late to the hotel and fell into bed exhausted. That is when we discovered the (first) problem: The bed linens (sheets and pillowcases) smelled strongly of body odor. The individual duvets did not, so we opted to sleep on top of the duvets. That resulted in a restless night. ||The hotel provides a nice breakfast buffet in its reception/bar/dining room area and we took advantage of this. Upon entering, the manager (a polite, cheerful lady) inquired about our stay. In a refrained manner, I told her about the dirty, smelly linens. She listened to our complaint and offered nothing in response.||There were other guests enjoying the buffet, including a man sitting alone, talking loudly on his cellphone, using the speaker. The other conversant was his wife. The conversation revolved around household plumbing problems, both of their voices filling the room. It was incredibly rude and clearly was annoying everyone in the room. The staff completely ignored this breach of etiquette. After enduring 25 minutes of this abuse, a fellow patron rose and approached the man, firmly demanding he terminate this behavior. The man left, all the while talking on his speakerphone. ||Our experience was so poor I felt a review is in order to warn people of this bad place. Don't risk it, stay elsewhere!

We stayed in spectacular rooms, including the Mozart suite for a birthday treat. Loved the dark, moody velvet decor, the four poster bed, the inlaid wood grandfather clock, massive whisky safe and the billiards table! ||The other, smaller room we stayed in had a beautiful glass-roofed patio area for relaxing, with vines growing up the walls. Beds were comfortably firm and the air conditioning worked, which was helpful in the mid-30s heatwave temperatures. The rooms were very quiet.||The standout thing for us was the exceptionally good breakfast. We were welcomed every morning by the hosts and treated to a selection of freshly-made, locally-sourced eggs. I enjoyed scrambled eggs with salmon and the vegetable omelette. There were also healthy fresh berries and Greek yoghurt with sunflower seeds and flax, as well as muesli. A sumptuous selection of cakes was arrayed, with a particularly delicious cherry cake, and the chef made fresh käeserschmarm for me as well. A range of fresh bread, fresh cheese and cooked courgette, fennel and others. It was a delight every single morning.||The attic bar, Blau Brigitte, is also well worth an evening visit, with friendly bar staff and a great selection of whisky, mescal and tequila alongside unique cocktails.

This hotel is not only in a perfect location, but it is also comfortable, clean, and secure. The guest rooms are accessible with a key card only. There is a very popular bar on the top floor where the guest registration is located. This also serves as the breakfast room. Breakfast is wonderful, with a nice selection of items offered buffet style, with hot items, like eggs and coffee offered a la carte. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful and goes above and beyond to welcome and assist the guests. We were given a welcome drink and an Innsbruck Welcome Card, good for use of the transit system through the day of departure. This came in handy when we took the tram to the train station when we left town. The location is perfect. Most tourist spots are easy walking distance, including the funicular that takes you up the mountain. I would highly recommend this hotel.
