So... I finally got to go.
I can say that it was, without a doubt, worth all the trouble and bs I had to put up with that day.
This was a trip with co-field-worker-friends that had been set up. We were supposed to drive out together, but I didn't put the correct date in my calendar, so I'm thinking it's NEXT week and wake up, you guessed it, late! On a day I'm supposed to be going to the student medical section to volunteer my body, so now I'm on the phone to see if they can find someone to swap schedules with, cause I can't leave a student hanging and decide to dress for the outcome I'm hoping for. I get a shower, into my bathing suit, cozy clothes over top, and my awesome husband brings me coffee. 🥰💜
Then I get a notification: period due to start today 😫
I get the call they got someone else in and I can go! Yay! It's now 2.5 hours past the meet up time, so I gotta get myself there!
Gotta get gas. Gotta get a bite to eat and was like "tacos are easy to eat" and can say... no... no they are not. Almost get it everywhere. Gotta drive an hour out, don't really know where I'm dosed to go, or park (hint: park at the hotel. Go through it or walk the outside path to get to the Nordic spa.)
So, needless to say, I'm sure you can imagine my feelings at this point!
I get there and they have a wrist band that is the key to your locker where they had an awesome winter robe, a pair of sandals (I brought my own), and a towel, with more around for whenever you need one and, a no cell phone/mo pictures policy (hence the lack of images). They will also give you the recommended routine for "heat (15mins), chill(15-60 sec), rest(10 min)", which is awesome! But hardly anyone adheres to it strictly!
I DO recommend chilling in between, as it literally helps to squeeze inflammation out of the body, but I also know that some people just don't want to.
Stay hydrated, they do have a food area, but I'll tell you it's kinda spendy, so either come prepared 🥪 or come prepared 💸!
Here's your friendly reminder to remove your jewelery, especially silver and smart watches! Even if it's "water proof" it's probably not "hot salty water proof"! Silver will tarnish!
They have 3 main pools with temperatures ranging from 95°F-104°F, 2 cold plunges of 55 & 60°F
Steam rooms, barrel saunas (and hot tubs) and a salt wall sauna!
They are QUITE creaky, but it's too be expected, and fine if you can sit still for it.
At the end of it, I also got to use a lovely salt scrub and feel so soft from it.
Great place, really enjoyed myself, and if I could afford to go every day, I would be there at least once a week!
Highly recommend!
