A group fo 9 of us stayed here on our cycle tour of the Hebrides. Very well placed next to the ferry. Very nice clean rooms, with great quirky nautical decoration. Spacious well equipped kitchen and common room with a wood burner for cold nights. ||Would highly recommend!

As a large group, we'd taken over the hostel for the weekend. Our host, Ruari was extremely helpful and the place was spotless on arrival. It was great to sit outside in the evening watching the sun go down with a BBQ and few beers. That theme continued over the weekend!||||Accommodation is what you'd expect from a well appointed bunkhouse- comfy, clean beds, hot showers, good sized cooking area and plenty of crockery etc, but what makes Am Bothan stand out is its open plan areas, quirky décor and a big sound system you can link to so whatever your taste in music you have the opportunity to let everyone hear it!!!||You can also get eggs from one of the neighbours, probably the most 'free range' I've experienced thus far: delicious!||||The bunkhouse is easy to find although you'll find that the views on the way there from Tarbert might distract you- Harris is known for its stunning beaches and vistas and we were blown away with how beautiful it is.||||I would heartily recommend Am Bothan for a stay.

After coming off the ferry in Leverburgh, I dropped on Am Bothan without making a booking and was lucky enough that there was plenty of space - I even managed to have a room to myself. ||I went down to the the Anchorage restaurant, brought back fish n chips to eat and sat with 2 cyclists who were staying over along with Ruari our host in the lovely communal area and shared a few beers.||This is a great place, an independant hostel, to stop over with a really nice atmostphere and has been decorated using a lot of salvage by Ruari who takes great pride in the place that he runs. I just wish that it had been cold enough to have the wood burner on.||I'd recommend using it if you're on the Hebridean Way or just touring about.

We stayed here when cycling the Hebridean Way. This is probably the most unique bunkhouse I’ve ever seen - the decor is brilliant. I’d recommend staying just to have a look. There were a few ‘regulars’ staying when we visited, which was great for road stories and picking up local tips. I’d definitely recommend the Butty Bus for breakfast. I’d say this is a must stay if you’re travelling through Harris.

I stayed at this hostel for three nights. I absolutely loved every part of it. The living room and kitchen were really nice and clean, so were the bathrooms and bedrooms. It was great to have access to laundry facilities and wifi as well. It was not crowded at all; I was alone in my room for two out of the three nights. The only regret I had is that that was no soap in the toilets/bathroom.

I loved the funky decor in this hostel! It's a very friendly, relaxed hostel, where you can meet people from all walks of life. Set in a gorgeous location, with Leverburgh pier just down the road, and the stunning Luskentyre beach nearby.

Excellent showers, comfy bunks, very well-equipped and designed. Great views too from the living area windows! I really liked the design inside. The warm red paintwork on the outside reflected the warmth and comfort inside.

Absolutely absolutely fantastic. After visiting seven different YH in Scotland this one was a welcome relief. Vibrant colours ,spacious rooms and a rustic look. Did not get to meet the owner, left the money just like the others did in the wooden bowl at the wall stocked kitchen entrance. note ...local bus transport is shut on Sunday.
