We visited Am Kipp yesterday with my mom and sister, and we were absolutely blown away! The food was incredible – we had schnitzel with pepper sauce and a fresh salad, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Portions were generous, and we left with happy, full stomachs. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was lively and cheerful – yes, it’s a bit loud, but that’s part of the charm. Definitely make a reservation, as the place is usually packed. And the draft beer was just perfect! We’ll definitely be coming back.

This is a 300 year old restaurant in Aachen, has lots of character and has a front room and a rear room. Wednesday night was super busy and packed. The service felt personal and the menu selection was very good. I had the hering with potatoes and this was followed by a desert. We were a party 9 having a works dinner. Would recommend this as a stop off if your in Aachen.

Great food, service and atmosphere! They led us to the back of the restaurant, a paved garden with gorgeous gazebos and fairy lights as the sun began to set. Had the garlic escargots, schnitzel with pepper sauce, turkey breast with mushroom sauce (super flexible as that should have been with a mustard sauce), potatoes cooked to perfection and a fresh season salad. The wines recommended were excellent. Definitely a lovely spot to dine, in this charming German town! :)

The oldest restaurant in Aachen has its unique atmosphere, which was preserved by Franz and Margarethe Ramrath and their family still keeps this place as sort of gate to the past. The food here is delicious. I ordered steak with mushroom sauce and it was awesome. They can also offer interesting seasonal dishes. Here you can also see Heinz Ramrath's (also known as The Tin King of Aachen) collection of different wine and beer jugs. More interesting info and facts you can read in their menu. Definitely a place to visit if you want to get the best experience in Aachen

Lovely, cosy local restaurant, which seems to attract a lot of the locals as well, more so than travellers, which is usually a great sign, meaning that the food is authentic. The schnitzels here were fantastic, good size, great batter and both the pepper and mushroom sauce were super flavourful, of course accompanied by some locals beers this was a real treat. Lovely staff as well!

We were so lucky! They were fully booked , but as they saw we'd walked so far to get there they found us a table . I know why it's fully booked !!! Food is delicious 😋

The ambient was super cozy and dog friendly, the service was impeccable and the schnitzels were amazing! Everything was really, really good. If you’re around Aachen, I highly recommend it! Also, ask for the Crème Brûlée and thank me later.

Google
First time in Aachen and we decided to have German food for dinner. I chose this restaurant since I have read many good reviews. We had such an amazing experience not only with the food, but also with the hospitality of the staff. We were seated pretty soon. We had Schnitzel with onion and mushrooms and the other with the hot sauce and both were delicious. Food portion is big and honestly one dish is more than enough for two people! Price was reasonable. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
Nice atmosphere where you share a table with other people. Some of the items not on the menu were not explained to me. The muscles looked very good, but I didn't know they were an option until the table next to me got them. Pork with pepper sauce and potatoes was good, but one of the pieces was burnt. Salad was good.

Yelp
I go to Aachen once a year and stay for four days. For the past six years I have made sure that one dinner was taken at Am Knipp. This is one of the last of a vanishing breed in Aachen, the neighborhood tavern that serves good and plentiful food. It is family run with one brother in the kitchen overseeing things and the other dispensing beer and other drinks at the bar like an octopus juggling clams. On the weekends the place is carefully organized chaos with locals three deep at the bar either drinking as an end goal or drinking while waiting for a table. In fact, on a recent Friday night I watched the restaurant equivalent of the old circus clown car, but in this case the patrons kept coming in and when you thought the place would be completely clogged with humanity another group of six hearty lads with a thirst would squeeze themselves through the door and into the scrum at the bar--a wonder to behold. The beer is fresh and the place is the very definition of "Gemütlichkeit", welcoming, cozy and high spirited. The interior of this old building is suggestive of everything historically German. Now as to the food, it is typical of the region, schnitzels, chicken, calf's liver, flammkuchen, steaks, etc. I normally get the schnitzel and they have both a version with cream and mushroom sauce and a creamed pepper sauce. Both are excellent and with the large mixed salad (really great) and the roasted potatoes, you need nothing else to keep you happy. With a glass of wine this came, on a recent visit, to around €23 all in and well worth it. Now, attention class and listen carefully, it is absolutely necessary to book a table at this extremely popular place. Those who don't, all visitors to Aachen (the locals know better) will leave very disappointed because they will be told by the hard working but frenetic waitstaff that they are full and that's it. It will no doubt seem abrupt but there is no time for explanations or being open to persuasion by the most charming tourist. If you follow this advice you will be rewarded by a very rich culinary and socially unique experience.
