Am Pavillon

This location could not possibly be much better, it’s an easy 3 min walk to the back entrance to the main train station (Schanzenstrasse) where you have basically all of Switzerland 🇨🇭 available to you. The owner and staff are terrific and I really enjoyed chatting with them and they made me feel very welcome. I have every intention to return in the future and would recommend.

Am Pavillon may be the worst B and B experience I have ever had. Between the musty, ancient towels, the old and perhaps not the cleanest sheets and the racist and deceptive owner - visitors to Bern should stay far away from Am Pavillon. |The house overlooks the main Bern train tracks but this isn't mentioned in any of their advertising. It was hot when we were there in June but if the windows were open, there was constant train noise. And there was no AC or fan, so with the windows closed the room was overwhelming stuffy.|The towels and sheet were gross and were so ragged that they clearly haven't been replaced in years.|But the worst part was dealing with the owner. He told us he refuses to rent to certain ethnic groups and just tells them that his B and B is full. This admission was shocking. We booked for 2 nights but he charged us for a third. While our plans did change, it was clear that we had only stayed two nights and still he charged us for three and refused to refund the money he charged my credit card without permission. He became abusive over email with me when I requested a refund for the night we were charged but did not stay.|Stay away from Am Pavillon B and B. Yes, it is less expensive than other places in Bern but it's not worth the savings.

Be carefull, they Kick you out even earlier. The information for the check out is missleading in Booking it says is at 10 am, the staff kicked me at 8 am and the written rules on the wall says 9 am. Both my towells were dirty and with smell of humid, like some one else used it, and the land lord instead of seein if the staff or provider did it wrong he get mad at me! See the pictures. We stayed there for 3 nights during the climbing world championships. Great service as a modern kitchen and breakfast cereals plus milk and orange juice and coffee/machine is provided. Also the dining room and living rooms in the entry floor are cosy. The location is perfect, you cross the railway station and are in the center of Bern. And the rooms are nicely furnished with a most comfortable bed. Oh, and sharing a bathroom works well, there are just 3 rooms to the floor. In a nutshell - great value for the money.

Very happy with our stay here. The bathrooms are shared, but we never really had to wait to use the bathroom on our floor. Our room faced the train tracks, so there was some noise in the early hours of the morning. That was expected based on the location. But overall, a wonderful stay for a great price!

We stayed at Am Pavillion in September for two weeks while visiting family. We loved our stay here. The house is brilliantly located near the main train station and the centre of beautiful Bern. The rooms are simple but comfortable. The coffee from the coffee machine in the communal kitchen was the best we had in Switzerland! We loved being able to have the use of the kitchen for breakfasts and evening snacks. The garden was a lovely place to drink coffee (fresh figs!) Stefan was so friendly and accommodating. He very kindly let us wash clothes and was always ready for a chat. Thanks so much Stefan and Am Pavillion for a great stay. We are already planning to come back.

This is a very good value for money accommodation centrally located in Bern. Expect not a full-serviced hotel but a nice Bed (& breakfast, although full breakfast is not served). It's clean and pleasant, I had a big room (201), garden, kitchen, living and dining room were nice! Be aware of a few things: Bathrooms are shared between 3 rooms each floor, toilet is not separate. In 2nd floor you need to climb into an old fashioned bathtub to shower. This, and the fact that you will need to climb some stairs may make it inconvenient for some. And there is noise from the train station across the street; personally I don't dislike train sounds, but screeching noise made me plug my ears; windows had to be fully open in the hot summer night (no AC). But altogether, this is very worth the HALF price compared to a much smaller hotel room I had downtown the days before! I'd especially say it's a good choice for longer stays!

Decent size, clean rooms. Not good for a warm night as you chose between no air in the room OR open window with loud train tracks just outside. No showers after 9:30 pm. Incredibly rude management. Threatening “consequences” when I shared a truthful review and tried to fraudulently charge my credit card again. Convenient location to catch a train but that is the only plus.
