Amadeus Gent 1 - Patershol

The atmosphere is very lively, family-oriented and chaotic, and temperature wise hot due to the lovely fireplace. If you want a quiet dinner, with attentive service, this is not your place. If you want all you can eat ribs, you’ll love it. They do NOT serve tap water 💧, which honestly, just p-sses me off, right from the start, so we should have just walked out then. We moved twice due to doors slamming into my daughter’s chair, the. We moved and again they tried to put us by the kitchen door—no thank you. We finally got a better table, and the manager was nice. I get you want to put a two top table in a corner but we are paying the same for a meal, so no. I would not return as It is not my type of dining experience. Others were clearly enjoying the ribs and experience.

We had the short rib special, the portions were huge especially considering the price. If you want ribs definitely go there, but i would recommend making a reservation.

The service was great and I had the mixed grill, which was excellent. Most of all the ambiance was warm and inviting and felt very old-world, which fit wonderfully with the quaint Patershol neighborhood.

The first rib came with the plate tasted good. Although it’s slightly dry, the sauce did the job. However, the refilled ribs were pretty dry, I wonder if those were pre-made then reheated to serve quickly. The sauce for potato is really nice. The staffs were very friendly. It’s a good place to chill with a group of friends.

Everything about this place deserved a 5 star rating. The staff were accommodating, smart, funny and overall very professional. Ask for the indoor yard, it is very nice and cosy. We had a spareribs menu each and these were hands down the best ones we had eaten in years. Even the oven potatoes with rich sauce rival the best in Germany. 😉 Try their Irish Coffee if you like, it was very delicious. Good luck ordering dessert, after some ribs refill you might have to change that idea 😂 Thanks for a wonderful evening, when we return to Gent, we will definitely come back!

An amazing restaurant in Ghent with outstanding decoration. - taste&quantity: we tried mix grill and ribs both were great grilled and very good taste. Okay maybe i didn't like the steak so much but it was fine. In the ribs they have all you can eat policy so anyway you will not be hungry. -Price: if I remember correctly was about 24€ for ribs and 28€ for mix grill. Quite decent for all you can eat ribs -service: very polite and smiley staff and they bring food fast despite the crowded day. -Atmosphere: I loved the decoration of the place was amazing and worths definitely a visit.

Based on 3 visits - this place is great! All you can eat ribs for 24€ with baked potato with curry butter? Not sure what is the sauce made of but is so delicious. ❤️Service very professional friendly and fast in about 5 min we got everything on the table. 👏🏻 This time we tried also 1 irish coffee that was super strong so ideally order this after lunch and not dinner! The back room is probably my favourite but all are good and always full of people which is a good sign, I recommend making a reservation via google.

Great place, a bit away from the crowded center, delicious food, great service and atmosphere. If you are looking for very good spareribs this is a perfect place, all you can eat. I will definitely visit again. Truly recommending this place.

If it had been a millennia ago, only the royalty could have hoped to dine as kingly as we did at Amadeus. I have no idea why there is a second page in the menu. The only viable choice is mixed grill or ribs. Look at my pictures... my God everything was tasty. And, the moment I was chewing my final bite, the waiter swung by with a platter and dropped another rack on my plate as if we scheduled the drop off with the logistical precision of an atomic clock. The beer was cold, the ribs were hot, I poured that black sauce on them and took down my second seating as if I was going to live forever and was an endless vessel of happiness, my brain awash with dopamine, pondering if I should reject a third or simply carry on until I needed to be carried out of Amadeus.

If you every travel through Belgium and find yourself in Ghent, a must to visit is Amadeus. There are 2 locations Amadeus 1 is the original, since 1987. I've been here on several occasions and each time I experience the full package. Amazing ribs (ALL YOU CAN EAT) - my favorite is the dry rub, but there is 2 more options. Great and friendly service, cozy and quaint atmosphere. You can't beat a fun or romantic or casual night at Amadeus. You won't even finish your first rack and they will already follow up with a second portion if you desire. (Don't food-waste guys, if you're not going to eat it, don't take it) or the food fairy will haunt you forever They have other items on the menu and all look equally delicious but ... Like said worth a visit if you like ribs. You won't regret.

Being from Kansas City ( home of the best bbq) I was pleasantly impressed by the ribs here. The seasoning was perfect and just the right amount of sauce. $24 E for all you can eat is a deal! It comes with a potato and small salad. Service was fast and the were generous with bringing refills on the ribs. Make reservations as this place is busy! For a tourist town this was reasonably priced.

Such an amazing restaurant! Not a lot on the menu but it's because you MUST get the spare ribs (it comes with a potato that's amazing). We also got tomato soup and greek salad. Also for the wine, they charge you by how many glasses you drink.

After a long day of flying and not having had a real meal in almost 24 hours, my wife & I decided AYCE ribs was the way to go for our first dinner in Ghent. Amadeus is especially well known for their ribs. The restaurant is covered in brass and wood. Very 1940s. It even had the old music playing in the background. By the look of how busy it was, I would say that reservation is a must for larger groups even smaller groups dining past 7:30. The restaurant seems as though they knew what they are doing as there were lots of locals, many of them seemed to be returning customers. The restaurant is large. Capacity is a little over 200 customers. You just have to be friendly with with your neighbors as tables are squeezed into every little bit of room they have. You are literally almost sharing a table with other dinners. The ribs were not flavoured or seasoned to North American palate, the seasoning was not heavy and ribs were not drenched in sticky sauce. I had some that were perfect tenderness, then some were nearly dry and too charred. Overall it's good value food, not necessarily great quality food. Service was friendly & prompt.

While the price of 17.50 Euros may seem daunting for many tourists, the prospect of all you can eat ribs and baked potatoes is excellent value. The ribs themselves are not overly baked to the point of dryness, but rather tender, juicy and consistently flavoured with their dry rub spices. The potatoes feature a garlic butter topping which compliments the ribs well.The general ambiance of the restaurant is quite relaxed and seems popular among the locals; a good sign to any tourists in the area of Ghent. The servers are polite and are quick to offer top-ups on the all you can eat selection.

The menu is pretty straight forward... Ribs, ribs with beer, ribs with wine, ribs with desert, ribs with beer wine & desert, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. Of course all you can eat ribs is a great draw for many, but the accompanying baked potato with spiced butter is the unsung delight. Breaking through the sticky, sweet bbq meat fest is a tough ask, but I found myself enjoying the potato side as much as, if not more than the main attraction.

Wow. Thank you Yelp and the Yelp community for finding this wonderful funky place with crazy decor and 1920's music playing while they serve the most meaty rack of ribs I've had in a long time. It's in winding streets so do follow the map. And don't get tripped up like me, mistaking the other (closed at night) location and pout. I was looking for an alternate restaurant when I realized I needed to go further along the street (coming from the north). I don't even like baked potatoes and the buttery curried sauce inspired me to eat half of mine. I ordered the 15.95€ all you can eat ribs, but didn't need more than the full meaty rack they delivered. And while I tried the coleslaw (good), I didn't eat that either. The waiter comes by with more ribs or potatoes. I didn't have to ask. Considering I spent 10€ for a terrible bowl of ramen yesterday, this is the dinner deal of the trip to Ghent.

If you're hungry, you come here! All you can eat ribs and baked potatoes and salad! There is a special BBQ sauce that is delicious on the ribs but also if you put some on your potato! The place doesn't lool that great from the outside but once you get in, it's really cosy! You'll get to hear some old music reminding you of the early 1900s and the atmosphere is simply great! All in all, it's a great place to go with rewinds and family, espicially if you haven't eaten all day.

Straightforward food - jacket potato and ribs as much as you can eat. In the weekend do make reservations. Its good - its a large portion - its cheap and the location is nice. Service is fast and friendly. The Ritz it ain't and the setting is shabby and no chic but its all good nonetheless.

Very typical brasserie with a warm even though slightly noisy atmosphere. You have to go there for their ribbekes (Spare ribs) à volonté, you won't regret it

Amadeus is situated on the main square in Ghent, just across from the Belfort and cathedral. The large restaurant is full of interesting bits and pieces, and the tables are close enough together that your neighbours form part of the entertainment. As another reviewer said, it can get pretty noisy, but this gives the place a bit of a buzz, and makes the ambience of the place less intimitating than might otherwise be the case. The main menu item is spare ribs (as many as you can eat) served with salad and a jacket potato with curry sauce. Spare ribs are always pretty reliable in Ghent (either here, or at Spare Rib itself, just down the road), and you should remember to go to Amadeus very hungry! There are a few other menu offerings if you are not a fan of spare ribs. Puds are pretty Ghent-standard - Dame Blanche, Chocolate Mousse - but it's doubtful you will have room.

This restaurant is a must-try when you visit Ghent (or Belgium for that matter as they also have locations in Brussels and Antwerp). They serve delicious ribs and a great potato with herb butter. But the best thing? You can get as much as you can eat for 15.95 euros. Amadeus Gent 1 is really the original Amadeus in Ghent and its authenticity shows that. What I mean by this that over the last 20 years they have added rarities to their decor in random places, so even if you go there 10 times, there are still bits and pieces you haven't seen before. The last time I went however, they were apparently overbooked, as serving was quite slow and forgetful, but honestly, I can forgive them because the food was as divine as always. Also nice to know: you can park beneath the Vrijdagsmarkt, and the Amadeus is only a short walk away from the main shopping streets and historical centre of Ghent.

This is a place you come to order the all-you-can-eat ribs and baked potatoes. The ribs are nothing special, but they're good. The sauce is something different, much sweeter than I've ever had on meat...some kind of caramelized goo. The potato was almost equal parts herb butter. Overall it was delicious, and only 16 Euro for all you can eat of good food. It's horribly unhealthy (like most Belgian food), and the service is bad, but I'd definitely come every month to fill up on carbs and fat.

All you can eat ribs and potatoes. They have an interesting curry stuffing for the potatoes. A little salty for my liking. Ribs were ok. I have certainly had better ribs but in terms of value, you can't really beat it.

I have had many rips all over the world - and all the time I did compare them with them here in Gent. What a disappointment! I drove from Cologne to Gent just to have the old fantastic rips again . What did happen in the meantime? for me it is biggest comedown I ever saw - from the best rips I have ever had in my life (8 years ago) - down to this ! - overcocked - dry - no flavor And the worst - they do bread them!? Why you can do this? I have just one explanation - this cover of coal-hydrates should fill you more quick so that you will not ask fore a second serving. You idiots ! now body will do ( actually did do - I was watching for). Finally the potato (honestly it was just the sauce of the potato which was was excellent) was as good as 8 years ago - maybe you should think about a new name - "Amadeus house of potato sauce" Service was good ! Gent itself - same did happen to this beautiful city (back than) - full of trash almost as bad as Naples 5 years ago

The ribs were spectacular & we were especially surprised by the baked potato w/some sort of mustard sauce. They have no menu, but no matter...order the ribs!

Great food. Their speciality is "all you can eat ribs" including potatoes with awesome curry sauce. This place can be totally full in the evening, come early!
