The best city beaches in Europe - SilverKris

"A popular Copenhagen beach park established in 1934 and expanded in 2005 with a 2 km artificial island, it offers a tranquil northern end of sand dunes, winding paths and the Helgoland baths — three saltwater pools (two single-sex and one mixed, with swimwear required only in the mixed pool) — while the southern end features a marina and broad promenade ideal for rollerblading, sailing, kayaking and windsurfing; shallow lagoons make it family-friendly." - Nicola Iseard

Amager Strandpark is one of the cleanest and best-designed urban beach parks I’ve visited. Everything feels modern, well-kept, and thoughtfully laid out. The walking and cycling paths are smooth and wide, the facilities are spotless, and the entire area feels very safe and orderly — a real credit to Copenhagen’s urban planning! While the water is exceptionally clean and clear, it’s worth noting that it’s often too cold for swimming, even in summer, unless you're especially brave or used to Nordic waters. That said, it’s still wonderful to be near: the sea air is fresh, the views are calming, and the setting is perfect for a long walk or relaxed afternoon by the shore. The man-made island with its grassy dunes, combined with the city skyline in the distance, creates a beautiful contrast between nature and urban life. Whether you're out for exercise, reflection, or just enjoying the open space, Amager Strandpark offers a peaceful coastal escape within minutes of central Copenhagen.

Amager Beach Park is a hidden gem just outside the city—clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. The views are absolutely stunning, with the Øresund Bridge and offshore windmills creating a dramatic skyline, especially at sunset and sunrise. Whether you’re into swimming, running, walking, or just loitering peacefully by the sea, this place delivers. There’s a nice café for a coffee break, and also for having ice cream. There is plenty of parking, and wide paths for biking or jogging. You can easily spend hours here soaking in the calm atmosphere and scenic beauty.

I like the colors of the beach, gentle and soft, classic nordic vibe, or even put it to the best. I went there in summer time, weekdays, cloudy days, that is saying there were minimum people. If you ask me what heaven should be like, I would visualize with this beach in mind :)

one of the best places in Copenhagen to relax, enjoy nature, and spend time by the sea. The combination of clean white sand, clear water, and modern facilities makes it a perfect spot for both locals and tourists. The park is spacious, with areas for swimming, sunbathing, walking, and even biking along the long coastal path. Whether you’re into paddleboarding, playing beach volleyball, or just watching the sunset over the Øresund, there’s something for everyone. The artificial island adds a unique touch, creating calm lagoons that are safe for children and perfect for a peaceful swim. On summer days, the atmosphere is lively and friendly, and the water is surprisingly nice for a dip. It’s also well-connected by metro and bike paths, making it easy to get there from the city center. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a clean, accessible, and scenic beach experience in Copenhagen!

A fantastic beach with plenty of facilities. Two big supermarkets in front of the beach, a pizza restaurant, fruit sellers, public toilets, everything you need. Then the clean sand along the shore, cold but calm water that keeps you at the shore, no currents. Safe fenced swimming area for children, long day with plenty sunlights under the blue blue sky. It was a perfect lazy Saturday chilling at the beach. We had a few dips and a good break from work. A perfect weekend getaway spot. Definitely recommend!

Best beach in Copenhagen. It’s spacious and easy to get around on the boardwalk swirling through the small sand dunes where you can hide in. The water quality is nice and there’s even good areas with seaweed good for snorkeling (and diving?). There’s both sandy, grassy and concrete spots to rest to enjoy the beach around. Plenty toilet facilities along the beach and both a lagoon and the beach of the ocean. There’s also both surf rental, ice cream and food options there.

Amager Beach Park , a peaceful escape just minutes from central Copenhagen. With clean water, long walking paths, and wide open views, it’s perfect for swimming, biking, or simply relaxing. The beach is well-maintained, though a bit windy, and the water can be cold even in summer. It’s popular with locals, especially on sunny weekends, so expect some crowds. Facilities are decent, and there’s space for sports, picnics, or quiet walks. While not a must-see for tourists, it’s a great place to unwind and enjoy the Danish outdoors. Ideal for families, joggers, or anyone needing a break from the city. And most importantly, you can see plain landing in every 2 minutes on average 🙂‍↔️

Long Beach, you need to cross the bridge after metro. Also, it is a good spot to bike! Definitely try in a less windy day to enjoy amazing Copenhagen summer. Full of seagulls, salty water smell and soft sand… Summer vibe is here! Also, there is an ice cream counter just right after the bridge which was not open but in a sunny day, it is an amazing spot! Also, there is an area for beach volleyball. Good beach for swimming, walking and biking!
