Amalfi is one of the best Italian restaurants in Adelaide. The pizza was full of flavour, and the pasta (we had the Con Pollo) was absolutely delicious. The starter (fried eggplant) was excellent as well. The staff were friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We had an incredible Italian meal here. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and came in surprisingly generous portions for the price. The service was warm and attentive, and the overall atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. Everything was delicious, but the calzone was the real standout — absolutely phenomenal. I don’t usually go for vegetarian options, but this one completely won me over. It was rich, balanced, and satisfying in every bite. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for authentic, hearty Italian food in a friendly setting.

Everything we had was yum! Particularly the Amalfi pasta and the tiramisu. The mussels were not the freshest but the seasoning was just perfect. The pizza we ordered had lots of toppings, but the flavors felt a bit muddled.

I hope Frank (if he is still an owner) is made aware, because this is hard to leave a review like this, but I feel that Amalfi has increasingly dropped the ball in the last 6-12 months. I have been a huge fan of the Amalfi Pasta dish for 20 years, it is my go-to dish that I regularly treat myself to (travelling from the other side of the city); and when someone asks where the best pasta is Adelaide is - I would always suggest Amalfi on Frome. However on the last 3 occasions, it doesn’t seem like the same restaurant. The charm of the Amalfi Pasta is the light buttery cream sauce with prosciutto, mushroom and a hint of chili, it is simple yet refined, delicious, perfectly cooked pasta. But tonight it was a tasteless watery cream mess with random large chunks of coarsely-cut prosciutto. It seems like the pasta cook has just added a bunch of ingredients together not knowing what the draw of the dish is. It’s nothing like it. My partner usually gets the Amalfitana, and hers was even worse. Her pasta needs to be gluten free, which I know is harder to cook, but theres no consistency: some of the pasta is undercooked, almost crunchy, while other parts are brittle and falling to pieces. Whats more theres just barely any flavour - she is used to it having layers of taste but I tried some and it’s like something you would find at a pub or Fasta Pasta, not an Adelaide institution. I have really tried to convince her that the Amalfi I know and love will return - but it’s been 3 times in a row now of pure disappointment. We didn’t even feel like finishing our plates. So, honestly - I sincerely hope you can turn things around because I really want my favourite restaurant back :) Thank you.

Google
it is no surprise this joint is busy everyday as food is really good. oysters are a litlle small but fresh and each bite brings you back to the ocean. pasta is well executed and sauce is tasty. minestrone soup is served hot and warms the stomach. service is friendly though you do have to wait sometimes cos they are really busy. food is also served relatively quicker then we expected, despite the crowd. inside can get rather noisy so choose to sit outside if you prefer a quiet meal.

The food was awesome. Loved the lively atmosphere which was basically people enjoying good food and company. It has some great pizza and pasta options.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tonight I ordered the Amalfi Special Pizze and… wow. Every ingredient perfectly complemented the other — from the saltiness of the olives and anchovies to the rich umami of the mushrooms — all balanced on a flawless crust. Hands down, my go-to Italian spot for genuine, authentic pizze in Adelaide. A special mention to our waiter Hudson, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. He made us feel truly welcome and it’s clear he takes real pride in his work. His service added an extra layer of enjoyment to an already excellent evening. Highly recommend Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante for anyone looking for authentic Italian done right.

Google
A fine place indeed. I can't comment too much on the food, as I've only popped in twice, both times for a quick pizza dinner. The pizzas themselves, in my opinion at least, are quite good. The garlic bread is a bit dry though, and not particularly garlicky, and 10$ for a single piece is a bit steep for the product itself. I'd advise to skip it. The interior is very cozy with rich reds and natural wood tones, but it is rather cramped, and it can get loud. The mens room toilet seat is also loose, and there was no hand soap or paper towels. The service is great. Cannot complain. The tall thin lad with dark curly hair is especially enthusiastic and a pleasure. For small groups, you may not even need a booking.

Yelp
Eat here often as close to Crowne Plaza. If you get here early its great. After 18:30, forget about it, stacked. The food is really good. Service seems to depend on who is in so spotty sometimes and great others, But, never had a bad meal here

Yelp
Fabulous service that went above and beyond; friendly, efficient staff. Food was beautiful and great value. Very enjoyable night.

Yelp
One of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide. It's loud, busy and unpretentious. Quite possibly the best pasta I've had out of Italy. Their 'Amalfi' pasta is extremely addictive, egg ribbon pasta with mushrooms, pancetta in a thick chilli cream sauce. A very filling dish, a favour and texture that keeps me coming back for more. I generally stick to their entree serves, as the main pasta dishes are enough to feel a small country. Either way, bring your appetite! Maybe not the best place for a quiet evening as it does get quite noisy inside, but I think it's what makes the atmosphere so enjoyable. Make sure you always have a booking if dining on a Friday or Saturday night, as its consistently busy all year round. Call some friends, make a booking.....enjoy!

Yelp
Are you in need of your own Eat, Pray, Love experience? Well they may not be able to help with the Praying or Loving but Amalfi Pizzeria Restaurant can certainly sort you out when it comes to Eating. Serving traditional Italian food, Amalfi is an Adelaide institution with some of the best pasta and pizza on offer you'll find in our fair city. Situated on Frome Street just around the corner from Rundle Street, I've always found it at its buzzing best on a Friday night. Noise and atmosphere are part of the Amalfi experience. In fact if you don't like noise and atmosphere this probably isn't the place for you. If you eat like a bird and don't like big serves, there's another reason not to go. Plates of pasta at Amalfi are huge and often an entrée size is enough to leave you full to brimming. The pizza at Amalfi is legendary and its almost impossible not to have a glass of wine with your meal. Something about the hustle and bustle, the smell and the vibe just scream, drink wine with your meal. Its almost impossible to have a bad meal there - well that at least has been my experience and I've been there on many occasions over the years.

Yelp
Great staff - Food just OK Arrived off the street to a busy restaurant. Found us a table but had to vacate after an hour, no problem! Staff friendly and helpful. Huge portions even with an entree size. Food was lacking in the flavours appropriate for the dishes we had and very greasy, for Pasta and rice dishes a bit strange! They have tables outside but please be AWARE that the smokers from inside go outside to smoke too close to these tables! Prices reasonable but would not return!

Yelp
We ate here last night. Ordered the "Amalfi" pizza. The crust was very tender, a bit too much stuff and not much cheese. We also had a lovely salad, very fresh. I think I would try a pasta dish next time.

Yelp
After another amazing Friday night at Amalfi's I just needed to reiterate how goddamn good this place is. We had the Americano pizza (SO GOOD) possibly the best pizza I've had in Adelaide. We also got the Amalfi pasta which was delicious, not too rich which isn't easy with a cream sauce pasta. Thick ribbons of tender pasta, mushrooms, pancetta and chilli in a cream sauce. I wanted to lick the plate! We also got garlic bread and a glass of the house Shiraz and its $65 all up which was well worth it for the quality and the atmosphere. Glad that I strayed from my usual order of spaghetti and meatballs (I'd only recently made them at home) and I'm tempted to stray again next time as well!

Yelp
So to start, I would like to start by saying the one less star is due to pathetic things like bathrooms and decor shall explain later. So onto the review 5 of of us booked into Amalfi's for a Saturday carb loading feast. Now Amalfi's is an institution in Adelaide well in my eyes it is. You would be LUCKY to walk in on a Saturday and get a table. We were seated at a strange oval shaped table which was basically two person table extended to fit 5, I sat on a corner section it was kinda strange but worked. I guess this is my first grip with Amalfi's because it is so damn popular packed all the time, mid range prices WHY ARE YOU UNABLE TO UPDATE YOUR FURNITURE FROM THE EARLY 80s?!?! It's squishy and the set up just doesn't work. Onto the service, service was amazing, we had this awesome girl seeing to our table who was honest about specials and was happy to alter things as we needed. Food...don't go here if you are on a diet, scared of carbs or gluten intolerant. You will die. I ordered a special which was spaghetti with veal and pork meatballs and I of course added chilli. This was delicious. The meatballs were creamy and moist and the basic Napoli it was in was drool worthy. One of my guests had the Amalfi pasta which was a creamy chilli linguine which looked to die for on the this Adelaide winter. All other 3 peeps ordered pizzas. They all ordered large because taking home Amalfi's pizza is one of the best parts. One of my guests was my father in law, he said he has not had pizza so good in such a damn long time and he wished it was closer to home. One pizza did come out after everyone had finished their meals so my boyfriend had to eat with us all staring at him but the wait staff updated us on the hold up and took it off our bill which was amazing service because that is something I never expect. Onto my bathroom gripe....this carries on from the decor and furniture gripe. Amalfi's they are busy they are an institution they clearly make some dosh...so the last thing I want to do is pee my red wine away in a little toilet with a black lid that all primary school toilets had in the early 90s!!! Let's not even get into the pink sinks which would actually work really well and look quite chic if everything around them was improved 10 fold. The men of the group informed me they took not much notice when peeing their wine away because they used the trough but that they did notice the blue/green sinks which I assumed were the same as the females just a different colour for boys. I love that people can say 'who cares what the place looks like the food is amazing' and yes I can tend to agree on some form of scale BUT wouldn't you rather be that place that has 5 stars all round for food/service/decor and ambience??? One day soon when I feel like I want to hate myself for the next few days for all the carbs ingested I will return and I will continue to do so, I hope this is somewhere that does keep up that same simple awesome standard of food that I can take my kids to one day. Thanks amalfis for the awesome night, no doubt i had half a face of makeup only when we left due to wiping my face constantly due to the delicious pasta flicking everywhere which is how it should be.

Yelp
Nick is absolutely amazing at looking after his customers! He made our lunch experience fantastic! The only bad thing I have to say is our pizza got delivered with a very long hair not only on the pizza but under the cheese, when I pulled it out and held it in front of the waitress all she had to say was 'oh how did that get there?' And then very quickly followed by 'would you like some cracked pepper?' No apology, a little disappointing.... And a credit card fee for whatever credit card you use, granted only 2% for visa but come on, it's 2015, who carries cash????

Yelp
If on the offchance you actually manage to get a booking in for this place, then be prepared to experience one of the best italian restaurants this side of town. Consistently voted one of the best, with a large returning customer base (when I called to reserved the guy recognised me from my voice!), Amalfi's offers excellent food at reasonable prices. Be it pasta, pizza or any other dish, the portions are huge and genuinely tasty. If I am not ordering my favourite Scaloppini, I will try one of the pasta dishes just to be amazed at the size of the thing. If you are of the female gender, you might want to order the pasta as a 'starter size', or you will have enough left over for tomorrows lunch! Wide variety of wines on the board, though as said below, the desserts selection is small. The place is very noisy, and very busy all the time. Good for groups- you can order lots and share, but may be a little cramped beyond 5 people. This is one place I always try and take any visitors to Adelaide if they are after an Italian.

Yelp
Amalfi is an Adelaide institution. They've been making some of the best Italian regional cuisine and mouth watering pizzas for well over 20 years. The menu is broad, and includes gluten free and vegetarian options. The wine list is also extensive with some interesting drops. That said, the house red is also really quite good. Amalfi is a vibrant meeting place but my only word of warning is that its terrazzo floors and hard surfaces bounce the mingling conversations and kitchen noise around the room. If you're hard of hearing, it may not be for you. Amalfi is a restaurant you should try. You might become a regular like me.

Yelp
If you're a fan of Italian cuisine then Amalfi's is a place you must visit. Although they're called a pizzeria, I have never actually tried a pizza whilst dining there, as I've always been too tempted by the pasta dishes. The pasta is phenomenal but be warned they're heavy handed on the oil... but it's delicious, high quality olive oil, so it's good for you, right? With so many options on the menu, you'll be drawn back time and time again. Make sure you book as it's constantly busy; the alfresco dining is nice on warm summer evenings. Take a group of friends and order two bottles of red and a range of dishes and enjoy a little of everything.

Yelp
I rate this place reasonably highly for a good pizza. But then again, I'm regularly told by my friends that I don't know what good pizza is, just because I only ever order margherita (okay, occasionally, I'll get a vegetarian, but that's pretty rare). I choose to think of the margherita as being more difficult to get right just because there are fewer ingredients to cover up for either lack of freshness of some components, or lack of ability to make a decent base. I don't know that the crust is perfect, but it isn't bad at all. I've had much worse, and paid more for the experience. The other components were pretty reasonable as well. I thought they cheese they used was quite acceptable, but I've had better. I think what I liked the most was that the toppings just seemed to be in the right quantities and proportions. The service was alright, I had no complaints at all.

Yelp
I have to admit - I eat at Amalfi at least once a month and I have never, ever tried the pizza. They have such an extensive and appealling menu of pasta and secondi dishes that I have just never got around to it. Their ragu is to die for, fish specials are always great, meatballs some of the best, the eggplant starter thing always pleases and my absolute favourite is a permanent 'special' on their board - a big green, mixed leaf salad with slices of eye fillet and blue cheese throughout. YUM - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I think their only dessert option is tiramisu but I have never ever eaten it, as I've always been too full. The service is not always ace but they for the most part proffessionals and it tends to be adequate, if not sparkling... I find a little gentle flirting usually improves the experience. It's nice when floor staff are responsive to a little friendly manipiulation.

Yelp
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is the best pizza in Adelaide. That I've tried, anyway. The crust is perfect. Thin, crisp with beautiful air bubbles. What I like about this place is they don't pile on the toppings. Less is more guys! Amalfi also do other dishes, from pastas to poulty dishes and steak. It all looks lovely, but I have only tried the pizza, so I can't really comment other than to say the presentation looks good!

Yelp
It has become an instant favourite. Very friendly staff and great spread of menu; authentic Italian. I had the best wine and Affagato of my life. Book in advance even on a week day. We had to wait for 40 mins but am so glad we waited to get in.

Yelp
Excellent pizza and nibbleys, likely the best Italian restaurant in adelaide. You definately want to book before you consider coming here though as this place gets extremely busy

Yelp
What an absolute gem! Has to be one of the best restaurants in Adelaide. Always busy for a reason, it's just bloody good food. If you've never been here, do yourself a favour and make a booking. Good spot, great staff and even better food.

Yelp
More of a 4.5 star review Food wise, the pizza and pasta are some of the best in Adelaide - very consistent quality and very tasty. Throw in a focaccia and some squid and muscles for the entre and I'm a happy man. Last two times I've had spaghetti and meatballs, and Amatricana pasta. Two simple dishes but done to perfection, highly recommended. Veal and steak dishes I have had were ok but not as memorable as other main's. Customer service is great but many times we have waited 45min-1hr for mains to be served. This being the reason for a 1* deduction - depending on the occasion, e.g a birthday or a dinner/drinks occasion the wait may not be a issue for you. Will return, soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful Italian food. Huge servings! Stick to the entree size as it's enough for 3 people. Their garlic bread is Devine! Vegetarian options are tasty. Great menu and wine list. Will definitely go back but must remember to book a table as it gets very busy.

Yelp
Had my first visit to Amalfi last night with a large group for a birthday. We had the banquet which was reasonably good and value for money. The mussels would have been the highlight. I was a little disappointed that despite Amalfi being famous for pizza this wasn't actually showcased amongst the group of 20 people only four small sized pizzas were served. I will note that there was an abundance of other food as part of the banquet from antipasto platters to a variety of pastas. However no banquet is complete without dessert, which for some reason they did not include which made this sweet tooth very sad!

Yelp
Came to this restaurant a few weeks ago which was highly recommended by friends. However, I can't say the same. Very busy even on a Thursday night. All our food were served after 45mins waiting, but oops, they made the wrong pizza. They remade it straight away, but our food got bit cold while waiting for the replacement. My pasta was ok, good serve size for the price, but I don't know how could a seafood pasta lacking seasoning. On the other hand, my partner and friends enjoyed their pizza and I enjoyed my coffee. Tonight, after having a great dinner in town, my partner couldn't stop thinking about the pizza he had last time and decided to have "savoury dessert". I also have a habit of drinking coffee after meals when I'm out. Great news, they are still open for food at 9:15pm. We got our pizza and coffee pretty fast this time, however, none of us enjoyed what we got. The pizza was overly greasy and the coffee was pretty average, nothing like what I had last time. Disappointed. Given two stars because of the customer service. We had one coffee to share as it's a little thing after a meal, not a caffeine booster. However, staff seem to find sharing a coffee is an interesting thing, over heard staff talking on my way to the bathroom. I was even more shocked about the staff reaction when I told him the coffee wasn't as good as last time. He rolled his eyes and walked away without a word. This is the first time I got an attitude from a waiter. I'm not sure I will be back there anytime soon. Inconsistency in food quality and rude customer service.

Yelp
Went there last night. Pizzas were excellent. Service good but a little slow. It was a full house though. Cardinale pizza was very tasty
google avatar

Jenna M.

Yelp
I had heard such great things about this place but was extremely disappointed, service was underwhelming and at times with an attitude. The squid main was really unsatisfactory no flavor, tiny salad definitely not worthy of the price. Over all didn't see what the hype was about ...food was Medicore, prices high and staff over worked, high attitude and inattentive.

Yelp
I dream of this place every time I'm going to Adelaide. Everything they do is awesome, without fail. Service excellent.

Larry D.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with a pizza. You certainly will never be wrong with a pizza from Almalfi's. Thin, crispy bases with a lather of delectable toppings The Amalfi Special, covered in ham, prawns, anchovies, spinach and capsicum. It's undeniably tasty from even just reading it on the menu. Which has an abundance of other fine Italian cuisines to dine. The staff are friendly, however I encounter a little bit of smarminess from one when talking about the wine lists.

Michael T.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was OK, noise was deafening. Not a place for a meaningful, relaxing evening, but did I mention the food?
