A bit expensive to enter but the royal experience does take you back in time and gives you a grand and imprialistic feeling. Here, you will see how the royals lived and how each monarch chose to decorate his or her room. You can also get a sense into the hobbies of the royals, some liked to collect smoking pipes for example and others liked hunting rifles. Overall it's not a bad musuem for those who like interior design, history and the Danish royal family.

Honesty, visiting here wasn't originally in our plan. We obviously came to see the changing of the guards (a must if you're in Copenhagen), but because the Amalienborg Palace Museum / Amalienborgmuseet is included in the Copenhagen Card, and I thought we'd pop in. It's actually quite interesting and well laid out. Adults would be able to spend longer if they didn't have children, but with the handheld audio guides there are options for children to listen to stories and insights tailored to them, and then options for adults to get more in depth. Admittedly, I quite enjoyed the children's version 😂 You'll definitely come out having learnt something. It can get quite busy, though.

A small museum at the 2nd and third floor. You can probably cover in an hour. Nice history pieces to see though. Keep your big bags at level one for free. Very spacious courtyard where at 12pm everyday, there is a very popular change of guards there. Expect very crowded scene so go early to get a slot.

Good place to know about royal family and nearer history of them. It wouldn't take long, and it is interesting. Liked the audio guide too.

I recommend you come to Amalienborg Palace at 12 pm and watch the change of the guards. After that head to the museum and have a trip in time and a glimpse at what it means to be part of The Danish Royal Family. 🇩🇰👑

We got very lucky, because we got a free mini tour by mere coincidence. It is true that they are still adapting to the new coronation, so some murals might not be updated, but you have a whole section for the new king. there are mini activities inside, and the shop was really nice, so it is a great activity to do. If you are an artist... maybe you can prove it at some point. no more spoilers. if you're not, we can still have a good laugh about it. Buy the tickets beforehand or go straight to the shop. No bags allowed, but there are free lockers. Super safe.

This Palace Museum is rather small, but still has lots to see. Best of all it does offer a vantage point of the central plaza of the Amalienborg Palace (where the changing of guards take place).
