"On the secluded Playa Grande Beach on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, Amanera exudes calm. The resort is composed of 25 chic casitas—15 of them with private pools of their own—that abut the rain forest and Cordillera Septentrional Mountain Range. One of the best places to take it all in is at the 131-foot heated swimming pool, where a curving infinity edge seems to disappear into the sandy bay and blue Atlantic Ocean beneath it. The navy sun beds lining the pool are never crowded, making it a serene place to spend an entire day. Order a catch of the day ceviche and an Aperol-tinged La Casita and then roll right into the rum-centric bar as the sun dips low in the sky." - Kathryn Romeyn

"Amanera is the second Aman outpost in the Caribbean (the other, Amanyara, is in the Turks & Caicos) and the brand’s first golf resort. Expect the brand's customary polished minimalism and obsessive attention to detail, plus panoramic beach views from the cliffside pool and bungalows. Suddenly, the D.R. feels very much like the place to be. Neighbor to the also new Playa Grande Beach Club (at the other end of this glorious stretch of sand) the differences are striking. The latter is clubby and quirky, whereas Aman has stuck to its inimitable formula of clean lines, clear communication, and ultra-sophistication, attracting an impeccably outfitted clientele looking for privacy and access to new greens and perfectly executed Italian cuisine in the resort's main restaurant. Of note: The offshore breezes in June and July cool the island's northern coast enough to never need a/c. Editor's Pick: Hot List 2016 & Editor's Pick: Gold List 2018"

One of the most beautiful places to visit. My daughter and I came to get some bonding time before she goes off to college. They picked us up from the airport and were so welcoming and attentive. We truly felt like it was home away from home. The restaurant food was great and we’re happy we were able to indulge in the nature scene. Breathtaking views from the room. It gave us time to meditate and ground ourselves to really take in the moment together. I hope this trip is one that she remembers for years to come. I’m so proud of her and wanted to express this to her and you all made that possible. Thank you

An incredible experience! From the moment we stepped off the plane we have been spoiled with nothing but pure luxury. The resort is stunning, the activities so fun, and the food (at both restaurants) is delicious. What sets this resort apart (even in comparison to other Aman properties) is the staff at Amanera. Kind and attentive, they went the extra mile at every opportunity. A whatsapp system makes it easy to communicate with the team, which gives you a feeling of exceptional privacy - sometimes we felt we were the only one at the hotel. If you are visiting Amanera make sure to budget for some excursions if you can - surfing was a highlight of our trip. And if you are looking for childcare - Angie could not of made us feel more at ease. Her kindness and creativity with kids is so appreciated - our son called her “his best friend” by the end of the week. If you are considering visiting this property do not hesitate it is an unforgettable experience.

Beyond incredible. The property and rooms are beautiful. We enjoyed the horseback riding, jungle breakfast, paddle boarding and deep sea fishing. The staff, guides, and managers were both attentive and warm. Every detail made the stay unforgettable!

We always wanted to stay at an Aman resort to see what all the buzz was about - well now we know...The experience -- and that is the word....-- was amazing from beginning to end. Everything is wonderful... we cannot think of a single negative to say only glowing positives. First of all the staff -- everyone is so professional and so focused on "getting it right" for us. Every thing is geared to ensure maximal comfort for the guests. I have to say, it took a bit of time for us to get used to the concept of being shuttled around and pampered.... but we did get used to it and boy did we love it. EVERY part of the experience was amazing... where do I begin. The SPA - what a treat.... the GOLF ... every comfort you can want. Meals - everything we ate was wonderful and all the drinks as well. Yes... this is not an inexpensive excursion but boy is it worth it.... I am sold on the Aman brand...

We came here for dinner during our honeymoon. It is very expensive for just mediocre food. Nothing was outstanding, the oysters were not good, the tuna tartar was underwhelming, the prawn tortellini was ok. My fiancé got the lamb rack and it was not seasoned well. Again not worth the amount of $$$$. I am sure the price is based off of the stay but the experience and food need to match and it simply doesn’t. I also thought some sort of acknowledgement for our honeymoon would’ve been nice but no.

We just love the entire experience !|There is no signage for the property and as such you have a feeling of a remote, lush property.| The chic , open air architecture, the fabulous suites.. the drama of wild windswept ocean all contribute to an amazing sense of place…| The staff is congenial and top notch. Lionel the GM is omnipresent. Service outstanding. I love the little gifts they leave in your room when you return from dinner!| We love to swim so we would walk to the public beach where the water is less challenging. It’s a lovely daily hike. | I love to shop so I wish the gift shop was more varied. There are some Dominican products but mostly the Aman line of clothes and products which are not interesting.| Had great massages at the spa!

I just spent 4 nights here. The private casitas are very nice. Service was good. My only complaint was their staff/ food and beverage manager embellished the uniqueness and drastically overcharged me on items sold through their gift shop and restaurant. Instead of focusing on the experience of the resort, they gouge customer on local items which should be a compliment to the surrounding rather than a revenue stream. I have no issues with someone making a profit. Do not buy any Dominican Rum or Cigars from this resort. You can easily buy them from other sources at 1/100 of the price. Sadly, after bringing to light their egregious overcharge- they’re solution was to try and justify their greed.

Is I could give aman 0 starts I would. A few months ago I booked a beautiful and expensive casita. Did all the things in my life (as well as my fiends) to get everything covered for work and childcare. I’m an attorney. I had 3 other attorneys making courts appearances for me PLUS I rescheduled and entire mediation for this trip. Well. A few days ago I get an email saying they over booked us and we have three options; Change dates (impossible) Go to sister property in Turks and Caicos ( we’ve already been and it looks like that aman isn’t even close to the ocean or… Refund plus two night free. Now who’s gonna use two travel days to go stay at aman for 2 day?! And no word back on non refundable plane tickets. I am appalled such a high end place wouldn’t have made such a monumental mistake. Now we can’t find any comparable Places with comparable fight times during our original dates. I’m disgusted. And yes we were the first to book I’m saying this because those of us who desperately need a relaxing vacation have to work out ALOT odd and ends to make this happen. Beware. This could happen to you. Easily. Hope this creates second thoughts in as many people as possible because this really was messed up.
