Amanwella

"Beach bunnies will find their Valhalla at Amanwella: All 30 spacious rooms have unobstructed views of the crescent bay, thanks to sliding glass doors that line their two sea-facing sides. Neutral fabrics and fantail coconut-wood furniture create an understated chic without distracting from the stunning scenery. Staff, elegantly attired in sarongs of amethyst and emerald, carry on Aman’s service tradition. The main pool stretches toward infinity on not one but three sides, providing a satisfying swimming alternative to the bay’s sometimes strong currents. Best to arrive by seaplane, as it’s a long six-hour drive from Colombo."

We had such a wonderful stay at Amanwella. Gentle, kind & friendly staff. Lovely elegant & discreet gestures. Minimalist & authentic luxury. Gorgeous tropical modernist architecture. Stunning landscape & calm environment. Don’t think twice.

A truly wonderful experience at Amanwella! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning nature. The rooms are spacious, clean, and offer a luxurious yet relaxing atmosphere. A big thank you to the hotel general manager and all the staff — they were incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming. Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home. I highly recommend Amanwella to anyone looking for a serene getaway and exceptional service. Thank you for the unforgettable stay!

I had a perfect stay . The view from my room was absolutely unmatched, and I loved the design and architecture of the property:pure, minimalistic, with that tropical modernism style that I appreciate. The beach was a dream, framed by palm trees, and the attendants were attentive and helpful throughout. If I had to point out one area that didn’t quite meet my expectations, it would be the restaurant. For an Aman resort, I expected a bit more in terms of the food. That said, the restaurant staff were professional, warm, and lovely, which made the dining experience still enjoyable.

such a disapointment this place and ppl working there - we called Amanwella to book a table at one of their restaurants, no answer, the hotel we are staying (Anantara) called & same, no answer. as the hotel we are staying it's 5 min away, we decided to go and try our chances for either lunch or drinks, not a chance. i usually stay in Amanpuri, Phuket so i wanted to introduce my friend to Aman resorts but Amanwella reception staff denied our entry with the excuse that they have a full house - so basicly us having a couple of drinks & seeing the resorts would've taken to much room...there is no way a big name in the hospitality industry treats ppl so poorly

Amanwella was like a relaxing refuge during my Sri Lanka trip. The property is beautiful, but the highlight was the people - the team led by GM Morton, with every individual we interacted with a shining example of dedication to their work and good service. Immediate action was taken to address any concerns we had. The food was 5-star. The best among Aman properties I’ve stayed at. Initially, I had some reservations in booking due to some of the reviews about how beach access has been handled but I’m glad I booked and witnessed for myself the sincerity of the staff in balancing the location along a public beach with the need to ensure a peaceful experience for Amanwella guests. Contrary to what some have posted, there is no aggression in interactions along the beach. I want to highlight this and call on everyone to take angry posts with a grain of salt. Kudos again to the team of Amanwella and many thanks. Looking forward to a repeat visit.

Amanwella has been on my bucket list for a while and I’m glad I got to go here. I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Bangkok and the experience was just as expected truly sublime so going into an Aman hotel I had the same expectations if not more and I’m glad to say that they met all my expectations and more and I can truly say that this has been one of my most memorable hotel stays ever. The service and food are exceptional all what I expect from an Aman hotel, the pool and beach are lovely though I do recommend planning your arrival as the sea can be quite rough sometimes. The rooms were the highlight for me, minimal yet bold where need be and it had everything that I needed. Though not a deal breaker I wish that the room toilet and shower doors had individual locks also I believe that room 205’s shower rooms privacy panel had the rattan weaving removed so it didn’t feel private sometimes, we booked two rooms and room 206 had the privacy needed. Other than that I have nothing to say but it was worth every cent paid and I’m looking forward to coming back!!

Our first ever Aman stay, and oh what an experience. Greeted on arrival in the breathtaking pebbled courtyard by the newly appointed GM Morton and his team who welcomed our family with a traditional ceremony.||||Escorted by Morton on a tour of the property and then we were whisked away to our respective villas in golf carts.||||The villas are very spacious (although somewhat dark) with a very generous balcony facing the ocean and large plunge pool on the entrance side of the villa.||||The true highlight of our stay was the attention to detail and attentiveness of the team. Impeccable.||||If I could pass just one small disappointment, it was that the 'beach club' restaurant open air dining room had a glossy black tiled floor. I guess I'd envisioned barefoot dining in the sand. It certainly did not detract from the delicious food or drinks served, but when you're perched right on the beach with waves rolling in and palm trees swaying in the night breeze, it would have just perfected the experience. ||||Departure day is never nice but was made better by the personal farewell from Morton and his team along with departing gifts for each of us, and knowing our next stop was another Aman hotel, Amangalla.||||We can certainly see why Aman properties have the reputation they do. ||||Istuti||||Danny & Tania, Perth Western Australia ||||P.S I should mention that the service continues a month after our stay, with a phone call received in Australia yesterday from Tharuka the Front Office Manager to say our drone (that crash landed itself high in a palm tree next to the aforementioned Beach Club), had finally fallen to the ground and were wondering whether they could get it couried back to us. The photos lead me to believe there would have been too much water damage from rains to bother trying to repair it, but when I asked for them to send my memory card, they even offered to download all the footage and send it on Google Drive just in case the card should not arrive in the post. Now that's impressive!! Thank you!!

I feel a responsibility to add a review as an in house guest since many reviews are coming from external guests. Speaking from an in house guest perspective, the overall experience in this resort can only be described as exceptional. Such an incredibly high level of tailored service. The pool and the beach are stunning and probably the greatest infinity pool view I’ve ever personally seen. The only thing is that there is no bidet 😅. All in all, this place is outstanding, we felt like so special during our stay and I’m sure you will too. It’s quiet, exclusive, very clean and everything is done at the highest of standards. P.s there is a picture of a beach attendant in another post with a negative comment. I personally met him, and he’s extremely nice and helpful.
