A truly wonderful experience at Amanwella! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning nature. The rooms are spacious, clean, and offer a luxurious yet relaxing atmosphere. A big thank you to the hotel general manager and all the staff — they were incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming. Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home. I highly recommend Amanwella to anyone looking for a serene getaway and exceptional service. Thank you for the unforgettable stay!

I feel a responsibility to add a review as an in house guest since many reviews are coming from external guests. Speaking from an in house guest perspective, the overall experience in this resort can only be described as exceptional. Such an incredibly high level of tailored service. The pool and the beach are stunning and probably the greatest infinity pool view I’ve ever personally seen. The only thing is that there is no bidet 😅. All in all, this place is outstanding, we felt like so special during our stay and I’m sure you will too. It’s quiet, exclusive, very clean and everything is done at the highest of standards. P.s there is a picture of a beach attendant in another post with a negative comment. I personally met him, and he’s extremely nice and helpful.

A Slice of Paradise: Amanwella is Unforgettable! Our stay at Amanwella Hotel was truly an unforgettable experience. This is by far one of the most beautiful and serene hotels in Tangalle. What We Loved: Location: Nestled amidst a lush coconut grove and fronting a stunning, pristine beach, the hotel offers unparalleled tranquility. The sunset views from here are absolutely breathtaking and truly magical. Rooms: The suites are incredibly spacious, beautifully designed, and offer ultimate comfort. Each room typically features its own private plunge pool and a lovely terrace, allowing you to enjoy the stunning beach views right from your private space. Service: The staff are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. They anticipated our needs and made us feel incredibly welcome throughout our stay. Food: The dining experience was fantastic. We enjoyed a delicious array of fresh seafood, along with excellent local and international cuisine options. Every meal was a delight. Facilities: The large main swimming pool, the serene Spa, and the vibrant Beach Club all added to the luxurious and relaxing atmosphere. Overall Experience: The entire resort exudes a calm and beautiful ambiance, making it the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind and relax. Amanwella isn't just a hotel; it's an experience in itself. We can't wait to visit again!

the place is beautiful. security kicks everyone off the beach. once they almost got into a fight with us, there is a video. they say that the beach area belongs to them. But according to the law, all beaches are city beaches, I can walk and swim wherever I want. I do not plan to go into the fenced area. Oh yeah, they also lie about the descent to the beach, they say there is no beach there😂

How lovely and special to “return home”. This is the overwhelming feeling that we get when coming back to the Amanwella in beautiful Sri Lanka. ||Hospitality goes hand in hand with the wonderful people in this country but at the Aman it goes beyond …….,||Met at the front gate by Prem the Manager - who “welcomed us home” was the beginning of another wonderful 7 days and nights (although the last of our 3weeks) that never disappoint. ||We have travelled fairly widely in Sri Lanka and this is always the place that we choose to take the final week. It’s just like taking a huge exhale. You know you are in good hands and you can just totally relax. ||We were so happily taken back to the room that we had had on a previous visit and it was like time dissolved. Cool|gorgeous interior that you always associate with the Aman chain, the most comfortable huge bed with fabulous linen and pillows - we always sleep so well here. ||Breakfast is abundant and delicious and a perfect way to start your day overlooking the most fabulous pool - which is where we ended our days - onto the ocean, beach and beyond 🏖️ ||Days spent on the beach on comfortable loungers with our lovely main guy “Ranga” - such a special person with a shy humble laugh and smile looking after us. We absolutely adore him. He treated us like family and was always just there with the iced water, some ice-cream, to take the sand off the bed or to move me into the sun or shade as required. He really made going down to the beach even more special 🏖️ | |But equally important to also mention lovely young Janaka and Mahesh - the other 2 guys on the beach that also remembered us from last time and were really attentive and wonderful. ||A couple of other outstanding people who always just appeared as and when needed and really looked after us ………||“Prem” - the Manager - who throughout our stay could not do enough for us and was always available ||Lovely “Thilina” - the continuously smiling and wonderful young man who looked after us at meal times - remembered us from last time and always remembering what we wanted for breakfast and anticipating our every need 🙏🏼||“Viraj” the loveliest guy whose smile lights up the room - always with the biggest welcome – also remembered us from last time. The best and most calm and restful place to be for delicious afternoon tea - out of the sun drinking lovely refreshing tea and eating delicious small bites of scones with freshly home made jam ☀️ ||Rooms boys Nimesh and sasika always discreet and doing the best job keeping our suite absolutely perfect. ||Also surprising us every night with either a gift or some gorgeous artwork on our bed 😊||And finally Ushan - the best masseur in the world !!! Most days I had an Abhyanga massage - in my room - which was sensational. ||I have massages wherever I go in the world and without a doubt Ushans is outstanding, memorable and just bloody fantastic - the best !||Also a nod and a big thank you to all those that I haven’t mentioned- all those that we haven’t seen - and yet they are the backbone of this and any hotel - so thank you to them too 🙏🏼||So overall another wonderful, memorable, relaxing visit and we are already planning our next ||Thank you for having us and looking after us …….. until next time ……..

It was our second stay at AMANWELLA for nine nights. The Ocean Hill Pool Suites are equipped beautifully. The GM Carl Palmlund and Tharuka (Front Office Manager) take care of the facility with love and passion. Everything is of the highest level.||It feels like coming home! We were overwhelmed that the Amansantis still knew all our special preferences. After 2 years!!||We were particularly impressed by the great people who spoiled us every day. Lahiru (our butler), our one and only amazing Dilip, the fantastic Housekeeping-Team (Gahesh and Sameera) with all the creative decoration ideas keeps us speechless, smiling Chamil + Damith - the best Tuk-Tuk-Service, Ranga + Mahesh (Beach ) were magical – first-class service at its best.||Every day starts with a Yoga Class. Amal is the best Yoga instructor you can have. And we love the wise thoughts about life from Hascha in "Team Blue".||We will always remember the Streetfood Festival, Seafood Night at the beach, New Year Event with the great shows. Special thanks to Chef Anoj – the Cusine are so tasteful and loving.||I will never forget my first spontaneous Dancing Class with the lovely Dancing Queen Piyumi!!||We needed lots of tissues after the overwhelming farewell.||If you seek serenity and the perfect place to unwind in the most beautiful scenery, this is most definitely the place for you.||We will be back! Thank you for this warm hospitality. AMAZING!!

Fabulous property with picturesque views, great pool and beach. The food is pretty good and the value is fair all things considered. I would highlight there is nothing to really do outside of the property spontaneously so if you are someone that is restless then I would think about duration of stay. Where I was let down was at check out - we had booked through our travel agent that comes with a benefit of $100 credit per stay at select hotels, this being one. At check out they refused to honour the credit even though we had it confirmed in writing, this was disappointing particularly in the context of how much our stay had cost (i.e. the credit was negligible vs. our overall spend). What was more disappointing was how rudely the manager treated my wife - despite her being the one paying for our stay and managing the check out, each time she spoke to him on this subject he would only respond to me, effectively dismissing her view. This was in summer 2023 so perhaps there had been a change in staff

We had an incredible and memorable stay at Amanwella. The beach view is simply breathtaking. A big plus is the tul tuk ride to the different parts of the property, very fun addition. The food was great especially the dosa, which the chef made only for us. Good vegan options on the menu as well, for example the sri lankan hoppers. Big thanks to our morning yoga instructor Akila who helped us with some advanced yoga positions we never tried and gave us a great relaxing feeling at the end of the session. Big thanks also to Ishan who made us feel at home at the restaurant area, and surprised us with a very tasty vegan birthday cake. Finally, thanks to Morton and Prem for the warm welcome at the property and nice conversations.
