Checking into your hotel is now so much easier, thanks to the smartphone selfie - SilverKris

"Implementation is planned at the Sentosa property to introduce a contactless, selfie-based check-in and mobile-key system that will allow guests to register via a web link without downloading an app, receive room keys on compatible phones, and have check-in data sent directly to the PMS. The rollout aims to speed up arrivals, minimize document handling and face-to-face interaction, and maintain data protection through end-to-end encryption and compliance with PDPA/GDPR, with optional features like in-room ordering and mobile control of room amenities." - Vanessa Tai

Our stay was truly enjoyable from start to finish. The breakfast was excellent, with a good variety and great quality, and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. Special mention to JENNIFER, who stood out for her exceptional service, she was amazing, very helpful, and genuinely accommodating. Kudos to her for making our stay even more pleasant. That said, the rooms and some of the facilities could benefit from updates and more thorough cleaning. While these areas could be improved, they did not significantly affect our overall experience. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we were satisfied with the service provided.

The location is great for getting to the major attractions, restaurants and seeing the sights. Expecting a high standard of accommodation we were instantly disappointed in the scruffy and badly in need renovation. At first nothing was done about the rooms and we considered just cutting the trip short. However, Shazriena, senior duty manager saw our complaints and acted. We were given a newly refurbished villa with a pool and two rooms for us and the kids. What a difference and lived up to expectations. There's a few odd things that still need to be improved upon but for a short stay was okay and given the very late check out time was great. The food was pretty good and the main guy in the restaurant at breakfast was superb. Knows his job and does it extremely well, do kudos to him. Would we go back, we'd think about it. It's just a shame that although the staff knew the rooms were terrible, they keep selling them and hoping that people put up with sub-standard rooms and this reflects on the management for profit over customer satisfaction and that doesn't sit well with me. If they were upfront about this, we'd likely have made other plans or chosen different rooms. It'll take a long time to refurbish all the rooms, so we'll likely go elsewhere and then check with them in future to see the state of their upgrade.

We had a great stay at Amara Sanctuary. The property is beautiful, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The housekeeping staff did a great job everyday to ensure that the room is clean and restocked with all the essentials. The breakfast spread was really good. Huge shoutout to MJ from the Sanctuary Tearoom, she is a great host and her attention to detail is truly amazing. The FOH staff were great and made the experience even better through a wide range of concierge services. Would definitely recommend staying here

Day 1 to the end of our checked out day was smooth. All staffs were very nice and always put on a smile on their faces. Didnt managed to get their names and they should be commented. Breakfast will always be greeted by Miss Jennifer. Her kind and soft approach makes us feel welcomed. A place to stay, enjoy and relaxed!! Will definitely recommend to others too!! Keep up the great work!!

Welcome by a team of welcoming front desk team especially Putri. Putri handled both days of my check in (my mom and myself) and she is so professional yet easy to talk to. Accommodating and makes the entire check in process fast, hassle free and straightforward. The room looks very slightly dated in spots but overall still it’s well maintained, clean and has a super smooth, plush bed linens plus comfortable bed. Premier room will allow you to enjoy the sea view with a serene vibe. Daily complimentary snacks/drinks and spacious room makes the entire staycation very relaxing and great. Breakfast spread not very extensive but good enough for you to fickle which selection to choose from. Most importantly every choice is well prepared and not like mass produced and average. It has 2 pools within the premises, one with kids pool and another is a sky pool while you can enjoy the sea view while swimming. It provides shuttle bus to/from RWS and harbourfront. Buggy service available if you are heading to Palawan beach. Free heritage tour also available for suite or villa guests. Overall, Amara was my last stay in Sentosa. I have stayed at a few others nearby (same category or almost same price range) but Amara delivers the best service, delightful stay and most worth it in my experience.

Was greeted by Ms Shaz, and I must say, she is very pleasant and friendly. I came with my 5 month old daughter and mum and she took care of us. Really appreciate her warmth and service. She ensured we got all the help we needed as well as it was raining. She went the extra mile to protect my daughter from the rain. Its the small things like this that make us want to visit the resort again. I booked the Couple suite with direct pool access and I will definetly book it again. Room was well furnished , bright and clean. Many amenities as well. Very peaceful if you're looking to just relax and unwind. Location is actually good but not very baby friendly as there are many steps and slopes but still manageable if baby is in a carrier. Will definetly recommend this place 👌 And thank you Ms Shaz for your fantastic service!

We had a wonderful experience during our stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, but what truly made our stay exceptional was the breakfast service. The food selection was amazing, everything was fresh, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Special mention to MJ from Sanctuary Tearoom — her warm attitude, attention to detail, and friendly service really made our mornings enjoyable. She goes above and beyond for guests, and it shows. Overall, one of the best hotel breakfasts We experienced. Highly recommended, and We would definitely stay here again!

We had two rooms at Amara Sanctuary — the Verandah and the Courtyard. The hotel was really serene and beautiful, with peacocks walking around the grounds. There is also a 24-hour buggy service available if you need a ride from the lobby to your room. The Verandah room was amazing: big, spacious, with great water pressure and nice amenities. However, the Courtyard room was a disappointment. It was extremely noisy, with something that sounded like water pressure or a flushing noise every few minutes throughout the night, making it very hard to fall asleep. The water pressure in the Courtyard room was also really poor. Housekeeping was unfortunately disappointing as well. The cups, mugs, and dog tray were not cleaned or replaced in either room. The best experience we had was at the Tea Room for breakfast. The service was excellent. The biggest shoutout goes to Chef Brian and Arel. MJ was the highlight of our breakfast — she was so friendly, helpful, and efficient in serving us. She truly deserves an award for excellent customer service.

Yelp
An older resort but definitely has its historic, old-fashioned charms. Location is convenient, only about a 5 minute ish walk to the beach and complimentary hourly shuttles to Vivocity. Breakfast is fantastic and service is exceptional. The rooms are big, complete with a canopy bed and claw-foot tub. It's large and spacey and surrounded nature. I thought the air conditioning was cool enough, though it is a tad loud. Lots of outlets, complimentary bottled waters, and fast WiFi. There are lots of beautiful gardens and paths here to walk around. Plenty of peacocks roaming around, baby peacocks too! As you head towards the beach, you'll come across a giant cage of tropical birds and another one of monkeys. Another 5 or so minutes down the path and you'll find yourself at Palawan beach. Service was beyond expectation. As soon as we got off the taxi, concierge came over to pick up our luggage. We arrived super early but were able to check in as soon as the rooms were ready. The front desk took all our luggage and drove us on a golf cart over to our room. Room service also dropped off extra towels to our rooms so we can take them to the beach. Breakfast is great! Plenty of hot food options and a nice buffet of fruits, pastries, and other continental breakfast items. Service as usual is incredible. Overall, great place to stay when visiting Sentosa. It's peaceful and relaxing within convenient walking distance to Palawan beach. The staff here really do try their best to make your day enjoyable. Do have bug spray though, the mosquitos are vicious. This one peacock is also aggressive and chased us around.

Yelp
I'm sooo happy I stuck with this hotel. When I was looking at hotels for my trip and made the decision to stay on Sentosa, I was stoked when I booked this place. It was decently priced and I get my own private jaccuzzi? Uh yeah. STOKED. Haha. However, after I booked it, I started looking at reviews. I know; I should have looked at reviews BEFORE I booked stuff haha Anyways, there were a few good reviews and a few bad ones. Of course I read the bad ones thoroughly anddddd then doubts started flooding in; I was regretting my decision. The bad reviews were mostly just people complaining about how old the property looks and how they need to renovate.. blahblahblah. I had no choice at that point and had to stick with it because I paid in full up front. I was doubting my stay here until I checked in. When I checked in, I was greeted by an employee working the front desk, who immediately grabbed my bags and brought them into the lobby. She was so friendly, thorough, fast, and accomodating. By far the best customer service I've experienced during my whole trip. After, she checked me in, she book my bags and put them on a buggie to take me to my room. The room wasn't too far and she helped me bring my bags into my room. When she parked the buggie, we walked up to the door, which I was greeted by a nice sitting area out front. When I opened the door to my room, I was super shocked. The room was big, clean, and just nice in general. When the employee left, I did some exploring of the room (for context, I booked a double bed room with a private courtyard jaccuzzi). The bed is definitey not a double bed; it's a king size bed. I know because I have one at home. Lol. The bathroom -- nice af. Super clean. Double sink, spacious shower (I don't like bathtubs), spacious closet. Stocked with all the things you need like a toothbrush. They even give you slippers. And the Jaccuzzi -- LIT. It was functioning properly and it was clean. Honestly, best part of the room. People are trippin if they don't think this hotel is nice. I've stayed a shitty hotels before and Amara Sanctuary is a great hotel. The staff is super nice, the facilities are beautiful and clean. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY. If MBS had rooms with jacuzzis, I might reconsider lol. Just saying ‍ Only problem I had was the TV hated me and wouldn't work the first day, but I figured it out eventually. Haha

Yelp
Amara Sanctuary was one of the resort we stayed at in Singapore. I read the reviews on here prior to traveling and good thing I didn't steer away from the property. When we went to Singapore it was raining cats and dogs for days! So I was pretty much very happy when the rain stopped so we can enjoy our time on Sentosa Island! Upon arrival you are greeted by the staff and a huge glass atrium like lobby! There is peacocks EVERYWHERE around the property! Food is delicious and the staff was so accommodating! We had dinner on the resort the entire time we were there. It was such an oasis that we never left the resort! Our room had a private jacuzzi which was always cleaned and stocked with mosquitos repelling incense. The staff knew it was our anniversary and prepared such a special night filled with decor and flowers BOTH nights! The property have two pools, one in the garden area and another infinity pool overlooking the bay! I absolutely enjoyed my stay there and I can't thank you the staff enough for making our stay there so so SPECIAL!

Yelp
Stayed at Amara's 2 bedroom villa for 2 nights in end-Feb 2019. Honest opinion? Not worth the more-than 2k price tag. We were seriously considering returning home halfway. I will list the pros and cons: Pros: Hotel reception staff were always professional and v friendly. Lush and tropical landscape in hotel grounds. 1 king bed and 1 queen bed Free wifi Cons: Plenty of mosquitoes No fridge available in the room (this info is for nursing mothers), only mini bar provided Safe was spoilt TV in the bedroom was spoilt Even though we booked for 3 adults, only 2 cups were available Lounge chairs were dirty so we did not use them. In summary - the staycation was filled with little hurdles to overcome and the experience just wasn't great...

Yelp
Not really a 5-star resort, more like 4. Hotel is centrally located on Sentosa island, and the surroundings are generally quiet and away from the crowd. There is free parking for overnight guests. Some rooms on the upper floors have sea views, however, the rooms are a little old and worn and could use more maintenance. The other thing is that there isn't an espresso machine in the room! Only instant coffee and a kettle are provided... Some of the facilities like the jacuzzi weren't working when I visited. Had the benefit of checking this place out due to out-of-town friends looking for a place to stay when visiting Singapore. It most probably isn't worth paying full price for a room here, but if it's on a discount, maybe...

Yelp
If you were to ask me where you should stay in Sentosa, I would most likely say Amara. The past two or three times I have stayed here we were decked out at Larkhill Terrrace Suites, a whitewashed row of colonial style houses. It's a perfect blend of a villa feel without being secluded from everyone else. I love the semi-private pool that's just outside of the suite. There's also a very comfortable sun bed by the outdoor area of the suite that's a stone's throw away from the edge of the pool. This means I could be suntanning from there while conversing with someone by the pool. So far I have only had good experiences with Amara, mostly because I chose to stay at Larkhill which is far from the hustle and bustle of the usual hotel-going crowd. If you do decide on Amara, be ready to splurge on a Larkhill Suite because it's the best way for you to appreciate this place.

Yelp
For the price you pay (300 a night for the balcony suite and 1000 a night for the villa), there are better options for a staycation. The balcony suite - while it has a private, small jacuzzi - is not as private as you think as there are people staying in the unit above yours who can look down and see you soaking in the jacuzzi. If you want to jump around naked this isn't a good choice. Moving on to the villa, for 1000 a night you get a separate living room, private bedroom and a private pool along with an alfresco shower. Who the heck takes an alfresco shower in the middle of a (made-up) jungle with the potential that cockroaches and lizards could crawl in and interrupt your bath? The bath tub was also filled with leaves and I don't see how you can soak in there - again, the openness is a problem. Bedroom is pretty tiny considering its a villa and the only saving grace is the private pool.

Yelp
Reading the other reviews, I'm left with a thankful feeling that my experience was better than my fellow Yelpers. My suite was lovely, the grounds were lush, the meeting facility well-tended, and my local peacock Hugo welcomed me back at my room each night. Now, I was moved here from the downtown Amara after an electrical fire forced me and my meeting out of that property. Perhaps as a result the staff was more focused on making my stay good. I'm not sure. Regardless, I'll take it. While I wouldn't rate this as a five-star hotel, I will give it a solid 4.

Yelp
I am reluctant to call this place a sanctuary because throughout my stay, I was constantly nerve-wrecked by the screams echoing from Universal Studios. But I must be fair and say that Larkhill Terrace is drop-dead gorgeous (and slightly further from the mad roller-coasting people). If you are planning to splurge, this would probably be it. The whitewashed colonial houses face lush forests and is pretty much the epitome of class and relaxation. One saving grace was that Amara is where Thanying is located so you can get to enjoy some awesome Thai food to nurse your headache and woes of having to stay in a standard room.

Yelp
Booked a studio for the weekend. As a "5-star" hotel, we expected an all-round 5-star experience but were pretty disappointed. I shall attempt to provide an unbiased review. Check-in: Check-in was terrible (yes, this is an unbiased review) and left us slightly annoyed. First, we were charged TWICE for the room (so make sure to check). The woman at the counter asked for the credit card and swiped it. Thought she had taken it to double-check our booking but this was apparently not the case - she wanted to charge us an extra $570 for our lovely stay. Wow. We got there at 2 (standard time to check-in right?) and they told us our room was not ready. Left my number and told them to give us a call when the room was ready. They gave us our Sentosa Play Passes and left us without any explanation of where to go / what to do (even though they weren't busy). So we wandered off and played and waited,... but they still hadn't called us by 5. During this time when checking with the bank, I realised that $1000+ was put on hold... what the hell? The booking had already been paid for a week ago. At 5pm we headed back to the hotel and asked a man at reception what the deal was. He confirmed it'd been charged twice and said he'd call the bank to release the charges held. He upgraded us to Verandah Suite. Finally checked in to a gorgeous room. However, when at check-out we asked someone else about this and he told us this was a "normal procedure" where they put $570 on hold for "security"... The annoying part is we never found the actual explanation or answer. The staff were absolutely lacking in initiative and seemed completely uninformed and clueless. Hey Amara, here's a tip: 5* rooms and 1* service does not a 5* resort make. Room: Really gorgeous colonial style, perfect. Only problem is the noise from Universal Studios! We were awoken several times by announcements and people screaming (on the roller coasters)... that really, really shattered the tranquility. Maybe it would've been better in some other part of the hotel, but definitely not where we stayed. Apologies for this lengthy review but I figure Amara needs all the help it can get. The rooms were brilliant which is why it gets the 2-stars but never again for this standard of service.

Yelp
A hideaway retreat with an infinity pool and so much more. Located on Sentosa Island, Amara has it's own driveway and is close to the monorail. WIth glass windows all around, the lobby is open and welcoming. The lobby is pretty awesome, there is a small cart with snacks, peach iced tea, and iced water that you can have anytime. Our room was located on the third floor and it was very spacious, had a comfy bath tub and you can see peacocks roaming around the resort. To get to attractions on the island, you can easily access the monorail station or take a stroll. Amara was quite centrally located but also far enough away from the busier resorts/casino where screaming children are running around. At any point of your stay if you get bored of being stuck on an island, you can take the monorail using the free pass which is included in your accommodation to access the main island and get to food courts and shopping just 3 stops away! I wish I could spend a whole week at Amara and fully explore Sentosa Island.

Yelp
We really enjoyed staying at Amara Sanctuary Resort. Service was very helpful and excellent (thanks Giana and Suresh). Their restaurant was great too (thanks Fred). Location is on Sentosa island and very near Universal Studios. We walked to the park. Lots to see and on historic Sentosa island. We hope to return.

Yelp
This is really not a good place to host seminars or workshops. The venues are all either too large or too small. They are really not set up for MICE. The room views are ok. The pool is quite tiny. If you are just there for a holiday it is probably quite ok but service is not exactly great. staff feels lofty and haughty, not exactly friendly

Yelp
I had read the negative reviews online, but decided to book the Larkhill terrace suite anyway, against my better judgment. HUGE MISTAKE. The issues started before I had even stepped in to the hotel. I had spoken to the concierge in advance to enquire about early check in. The person at the desk assured me that they would call me back at 2.30pm to confirm if the room was ready (check in time was 3). Unfortunately, I received no such call back at the stipulated time. At 315 I asked if I could check-in, as I had a cranky and exhausted toddler who was greatly in need of a nap. The clueless staff told me he had no idea if my room was even ready. When I arrived at the counter, the staff there all seemed sheepish and befuddled, as if they were all there on their first day of work attachment. The guests at the check in queue appeared annoyed and disgruntled. I know now why.... The next day when I took a shower, I realized that the water was not draining properly, leading to severe flooding. I had to finish washing my hair in the sink. Not only was the toilet area flooded, but the water seeped out into the main room and created puddles in the bedroom. Whilst housekeeping was mopping up the mess, my toddler unfortunately slid and fell, bumping the back of his head very hard on the floor. I had called the concierge in advance that morning, to send someone to pick up the bags at noon. Noon came and went, yet the porter was nowhere to be seen. By then desperate to leave this godawful sorry excuse of a "hotel" I called reception but no one picked up. I then proceeded to call concierge, room service, housekeeping, even the emergency number, but no one bothered to pick up for more than 15 minutes. Makes me wonder what happens if there was a an axe murderer in my room. When I arrived at reception (finally) and demanded to speak to the manager, I was curtly informed by her that the clogging was caused by a clump of MY hair, and that I would not be receiving any discount . Call me demanding, but when I pay $800 a night for a hotel room, I would not expect a plumbing system straight from the medieval ages. With regards to the discount I think the management was entirely missing the point. the brusqueness I encoutered served to confirm the cavalier attitude of the staff. In fact the manager had to call the housekeeping to verify if I was telling the truth. She only believed when I showed her the huge bruise on my son's skull. I could not believe that I was still expected to pay the full sum given: 1. The defective shower 2. Flooding of the room 3. My son sustaining a nasty fall as a result 4. Incompetent staff. They finally agreed to waive the cost of the sub-par breakfast which frankly was quite pathetic considering the ordeal I went through . Amara charges the rate of a 5star hotel but fails to deliver on EVERY front. Their abysmal service was on par with that of a cheap motel. Never in my lifetime will I return. I implore anyone thinking of booking a room to read this review in advance. Go only if you enjoy being fleeced
