Amarbayasgalant Monastery

A fascinating monastery well off the beaten track, about 30kms from the road that runs between Erdenet and Dharkan. Make sure you explore the whole complex, i.e. the main monastery, the smaller ones surrounding it, the grounds and the two large Buddha statues up the hill. Well worth a visit on your Mongolian vacation.

Absolutely gorgeous monastery, tucked into a hard to get to valley, green and lush. Can't explain the beauty we felt when going through the last pass and seeing how gorgeous the valley is. The monastery itself is majestic, old and absolutely not touristy. The old walls and the beautiful colors made it incredible. Would highly highly recommend to anyone who wants to undertake the journey there.

The old buildings are quite impressive but require 40km of bumpy drive to reach. Climbing up the stupa beside the monastery is worth the while as the scenery is really nice.

Beautiful monastery

The Monastery is very much worth a visit, and it's a bonus that it's situated in a very beautiful valley. Worth walking up the hill behind the Monastery.

This is a definite must see Monastery if you come to Mongolia. About a 5 hour drive from Ulaanbataar and 35 kms up an unpaved road. The monks living in the housing to the right of the Monastery have keys and will open it up for you.

This place is incredibly beautiful, surrounded by camp sites and nature.
