A Culinary Quest to Calabria Reveals an Unexpected Side of Italy - AFAR
"A historic licorice producer operating from an old stone factory with a centuries-old technique: gnarled licorice roots are boiled and their juices reduced to a black tar, then flavored, shaped, and packaged into elegant tins and pastel-hued boxes. The operation is a point of regional pride for turning a humble, foraged ingredient into a refined, export-worthy gourmet product." - Freda Moon
I had a beautiful experience here.
I visited the old factory and the new one. The museum is also a nice place that shows the story of the familiar business over the years.

It is well known that the best liquorice comes from Calabria and the best Calabrian liquorice is the Amarelli one ... should I say more?? ;)
