We recently visited Amazing Thailand and had mixed feelings about the experience. I asked for a recommendation and was given the Thai fried rice. Unfortunately, it did not stand out and felt like a pretty basic dish, nothing exceptional or memorable. My husband ordered the Amazing Curry with a spice level of 5 out of 5, but it was not as spicy as expected. He thought it tasted good overall though. On the plus side, the outdoor seating area is very nice and made for a pleasant atmosphere.

Parking is available nearby, requiring a short walk. The staff is nice and friendly, and they speak Thai พูดภาษาไทย. Enjoy authentic Thai music and great flavors—I absolutely love Moo Ping!

Google
The service is great, and the atmosphere was very nice. The Khao Soi had a good flavor but the portion was very small. I ordered their Crying Tiger which is a classic authentic Thai dish, and unfortunately I was VERY disappointed! The meat was grisely/tough, and the sauce was too sweet and thick, when it should have been a spicy, tangy lime sauce to go with tender slices of beef. I'll give it one more chance, because I will have to try the Tom Kha soup, to see if they can redeem themselves....I hope so!

I do love Amazing Thailand! I always get good food and good service here, and it has nice vibes. Food is definitely on the expensive side, but you get a lot of food. I always get at least 2 meals out of my order. Their takeout orders move pretty fast too, and staff is pretty good about checking in but not too often. Drinks are unfortunately way too sweet, but the food makes it worth it. Parking is not great, but you can usually find paid parking on 31st or free parking on the side streets nearby (such as Girard)

It's been a long time since I've been back to the restaurant after covid 19. The restaurant used to be very crowded. Recently, my husband and I went on the weekend and the restaurant wasn't very crowded. The food was very delicious. The price was reasonable. The waiters were very friendly and cheerful. The restaurant was very clean. I will come back more often.

Google
It’s my favorite restaurant. I recommend the spring rolls🥰 and the sticky mango rice. I love it. Recently I feel they give you less food and another thing that disappointed me was they took out my favorite dish ; before I could have all the proteins in one meal but now just one and when I asked for extra protein they can’t cook it all together 😩

Google
I had an amazing meal yesterday. FYI - The restaurant does have a service charge. If you don’t like it too sweet, you can request for no sugar or less sweet. Our meal was amazing last night. Shrimp & chicken spring rolls 8/10 It was delicious. Sai Oua 10/10 It’s a Thai herbal sausage. You can taste all the spices and herbal such as lemongrass, ginger, galangal etc. sausage was not dry. It was great! Papaya salad (Lao style) 10/10 so good, so delicious. The fish paste that was in it is not too strong. I like it less tamarind and this was good! Crying tiger 10/10 the steak was cooked to a medium perfectly. The dipping sauce that comes with it was delicious. Pricing is definitely on the higher side, but for the portion you get, the taste, service was really great. I always come back and recommend people to come eat here.

Google
It broke my heart to see this place so quiet. I remember when Amazing Thailand was packed — filled with energy, laughter, and the comforting aroma of curry and spice. Today, during what used to be a bustling happy hour, there were only two tables occupied. It felt surreal at 4:30 pm And yet, the food? Still exceptional. Every dish was perfectly balanced — bold, fragrant, and full of soul. The flavors were just as I remembered: authentic, rich, and made with care. The staff was kind and attentive, even in the quiet. They deserve a full house. It’s disheartening to see what’s happened to Uptown — to see restaurants like this still showing up with quality while the city around them slips away. Support this gem. It’s more than a meal — it’s a memory, a cultural anchor, and a sign of what still can be if we care enough to show up.

Yelp
Amazing Thailand was a great place for some authentic Thai cuisine. With ambiance that made you feel like you were in another place completely, the service was the perfect compliment. Very attentive to our needs, even ordering a dish off the menu that was very much to our delight. Plentiful seating with a mix of booths, tables and even bar seating. right in the heart of Uptown, this would make a perfect place for any occasion

Yelp
I stopped in on the way home recently. After one beer, the management, for some unknown reason, decided not to serve me. Poor or no customer service is a deal breaker for me. I will not be stopping in again. Uptown businesses continue to struggle and some just do not belong here.

Yelp
I don't usually post negative reviews but man was this just really bad. The pad thai is the blandest I have ever had. I asked for 4/5 on the spice level and it straight up tastes like the only ingredient used was ketchup. I used to come here all the time and am incredibly saddened by how awful the food has gotten. I also ordered eggrolls but was given spring rolls instead. Not a good experience.

Yelp
Wow. Wow. Wow. What a wonderful meal here at Amazing Thailand! The service is stellar, so warm and welcoming and helpful and friendly. The food - my goodness, every last thing we chose off the menu was superb. The curry, the pad see ew, the rice dishes, all of it was wonderful. Dessert was a special treat - coconut rice... yum! I'll be back again next time I visit Minneapolis.

Yelp
The name doesn't lie! Absolutely AMAZING! Very good service- our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers (ate them before we could snag a pic!!) - Sai Oua (spicy pork sausage) and Nua Swan (kind of like a tender beef jerky). I had the Pad Krapow with chicken- sooooo good. Level 3 on the spice was just enough to provide a little kick. Washed it down with sparkling mango cocktail. Hubs had the Amazing Curry, which I tasted, too. Such a wonderful rich flavor. Both served with white tice- perfectly cooked. He also had the Mai Thailand cocktail, and said it was delicious. Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
This is such a great place for authentic Thai food! However, I am afraid they are way overpriced and their portions are too small to be charging such high prices. a pad Thai can run you $23 (depending on your choice of protein) and the portion is the size of an app. It used to be a huge plate that was sharable and they have really dwindled on their portions. I understand there should be inflation to keep up with costs, but I am afraid they have raised their prices and also lowered their portions. The service also took a long time for server to come by to take our order. Service along with portions and high prices will deter me from going back.

Yelp
Came here for dinner before going to the Granada Theater which is next door. There is a nearby parking garage available to park at otherwise there is street parking available. Liked the overall ambiance of the restaurant, has a nice interior design. Servers were friendly and welcoming but took an awhile to get orders placed and to get checked out. Tried the boat noodles and the pad Thai. The pad Thai was great, very flavorful and would definitely get again. The boat noodles were good but is heavy.

Yelp
Tasty Thai restaurant with nice decor and fast service. The spring rolls and tofu pad Thai were fresh and tasty. FYI- they do not accept American Express.

Yelp
Been a while since I've been uptown, wasn't too crazy for a Friday night so service was attentive and quick. They had diff theme nights for Halloween so it was super cute the staff was dressed in pink and had a backdrop for photos fun touch to your usual dinning. Been almost 8 years since I've been back but food still amazing like the name. Definitely recommend the tom yum soup and papaya salad.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been to Amazing Thailand. I was in the neighborhood for the Uptown Art Fair and instead of another food truck wanted a restaurant where I could sit down. I'm glad I decided to visit here again. The service was excellent. I had a difficult time choosing between a curry or stir fry. I chose the Rainbow Combination stir fry and glad I did. The appropriate vegetables were crunchy, the chicken was so very tender, the sauce with the dish was a nice highlight with the rice. As usual I could only eat half the portion. The waiter offered another container of rice to take home with the leftovers. I highly recommend Amazing Thailand and will visit there again soon. If you can't find on street parking there is a ramp a block away.

Yelp
Great Thai restaurant located neat lake Bde Maka Ska. Their chicken drunken noodles were excellent. The panang curry was also good, but I wish the portion was bigger for the price. Finally, their mango sticky rice is a must try! Service is great and the staff is very nice.

Yelp
We ordered on DoorDash from here and wow! Was it great! We ordered a chicken Laab, medium and a pad Thai with shrimp, medium as well as a mango sticky rice. The Laab was to die for. Perfect flavors. It did have bell peppers which in my experience isn't very traditional but it tasted good so, so be it. I couldnt keep my friend out of my Laab. Seriously it was that good! The pad Thai was also delicious. Flavorful, rich, and overall delicious. Same goes for the mango sticky rice. It at first seemed like a super small portion but as we ate it we realized there was plenty there. I will definitely be ordering from here again! Maybe next time we will stop in, in person. Either way, we will be back!

Yelp
Mixed bag. Excellent spring rolls. Eg rolls disappointed, being oddly sweet and not very crispy. Pad Thai was, well, pretty basic. Could've used more flavor. Pork belly was itself too fatty for my taste, but the "Thai salsa" with it was excellent. Thai sausage was bland and we barely touched it. Overall, it's close to us and that's good, but it's far from the best Thai I've had.

Alex U.

Yelp
Ordered from here. I've tried pad thai and coconut soup (both chicken). This was so bad that I've decided to leave my first ever review. I can't imagine how people can make food taste so bad. I suggest other options than this place.

Yelp
Went to Amazing Thailand for part of my bachelorette party and had the perfect time! Pros: - Making a reservation online for a large group is seriously the best thing. - The food was delicious! I had the drunken noodles with chicken. Would 100% recommend. - Our server was the sweetest! Cons - Parking is tricky, but it's Uptown, so that is to be expected. - There were a few mix ups with ordering, but we had 14 people, so also not a huge deal.

Yelp
I was a repeat customer for years - always ordered the same thing - egg noodle. amazing dish for sure but recently they've literally cut the portion size in almost less than half of the original portion size. don't know if that's the same dining in but i definitely won't be ordering there again. huge ripoff now - i noticed the co$t wasn't reduced like their portion size buh bye amazing thailand

Yelp
Yummy Thai food and fast service. This restaurant is fun. I love Thai food and Thai iced tea. Amazing Thailand does a really good job at preparing and serving hearty dishes that are flavorful. I also enjoy the décor inside and out. Inside is very cozy and inviting with the deep rich colors. While their alley outside has an eclectic mix of different seating options. Service is generally good and the food comes out wicked fast. Sometimes I wonder how they manage to make things up so fast in their kitchen. I enjoy their chicken wings, chicken pad thai, saracha fried rice with beef, pad see ew with chicken, Jalapeno cream cheese wontons. I tried their fried Golden Pumpkin with condensed milk for the first time and was not a fan. There are so many choices on the menu that I am sure I will continue to explore the cuisine.

Yelp
(Note: this review is for a delivery order via Door Dash) I was in the Golden Valley area near the Twin Cities for work. I had a hankering for Chinese or Thai food, and Monday night proved to be a terrible night for that - most places were closed. I had driven around looking for some places, but unfortunately Yelp's posted hours/days of operation were outdated for the 3-4 places I scoped out. Despite Yelp saying otherwise, all were closed. So I went back to my hotel in a huff and tried DoorDash. Amazing Thailand came up and I gleefully ordered Drunken Noodles and Spring Rolls. Both were excellent. It's hard for me to rank these Drunken Noodle with others I've had, because desperation and hunger probably contributed to their amazingness! The portion was sufficient that I was able to have a hearty half the next day for lunch. Really good food - next time I'm in the area, I'd definitely check them out again!

Yelp
This was our second time going here, and it was once again a great experience. The inside is vibrant with cultural decorations. We've previously ordered the cream cheese wontons which are some of the best I've had in Minnesota. This time we decided to try the Thai fried rice with chicken and it was delicious! I ordered the drunken noodle which was bursting with flavor and had the perfect amount of spiciness. My partner ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and he loved it. They have the unique option of getting to pick the spice level of your food from 1-5. I picked 3 and my partner picked 2. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, and the food came out fairly quickly. We will definitely be back to try more dishes!
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
Ordered cream cheese wontons and Pad See Ew for dinner. The wontons were soggy, lukewarm and tough, making them inedible. The Pad See Ew was plentiful but lacked any real flavor. Disappointed in the $48 price tag.

Mike Y.

Yelp
I wait, which was already a plus. Had a great window spot. The place is nicely decorated. We order a nice fish, which was excellent. Maybe not enough curry sauce. But all in all very good.

Yelp
I haven't been to amazing Thailand in a while, so it was great to stop by this weekend with my family. We ordered drunken noodles, basil rice, wings, egg rolls, and amazing Thai fried rice. Everyone enjoyed their food, but I've had slightly better Thai food, so I'll give it four stars. The service was excellent. It was a busy afternoon, and the waitress got to tables, and the food came out quickly. I'll stop by when I'm uptown again to try their Thai salad.

Alex Z.

Yelp
new owners and definitely not the same like it used to be. very sad. crispy pork belly is just blocks of fat anymore.

Yelp
We have great time visiting this restaurant. The service was great. The table and seat are clean and comfortable. I like my food, typical Thai food in the State. It is a little pricey (that is the down side

Yelp
Living in Minneapolis, this is my go-to for Thai food. Amazing Thailand is located in Uptown, South Minneapolis in a busy street. Parking is not the easiest on weekends. The restaurant itself is nice, low-light and well decorated. I love the Thai dishes here, taste is on point and they have options for spice levels. My favorite dish is the Mee Ka Tee. My order is always spice level 2X and added chicken on this dish. The red curry has a nice texture, flavor wise it has a coconuty-sweet tone to it and spicy seasonings. If you order carry out, the noodles come separate from the curry. This dish is good for 2 generous servings, I never finish it in one sitting. I'm glad they have the option to get it deliver on doordash. It has become my comfort meal on cold days! I recommend my favorite dish. I've had others but nothing beats Mee ka tee!

tenzin t.

Yelp
Love the food but their portion has gone down so much that I have started exploring Thai food in other places. I used to come here to celebrate birthdays, graduations but unfortunate it's not the same
google avatar

Yelp
Had a friend come and visit my new apartment and he hasn't been here in a while, but it's one of his faves. I can see why!! This was my second time here and it did not miss a beat. Everything was delicious The stir fry had a light sauce that was packed with flavor. The duck was soo good and the curry itself, it wasn't enough for me! I need more of both. My friend never had the dessert so of course, had to put him on. He loved it!
google avatar

Sam V.

Yelp
Make sure you've got 45-50 minutes to spare AFTER ordering your meal for 2. (They were not busy. 3 other patrons at most when we entered.) Can't comment on food though, we weren't going to wait another additional 20 minutes. We ended up canceling. We were on a time frame and only had about 2 hours to spare. Paid. $33 for a beer and a pineapple juice. 1 appetizer. There was a $15 service fee. ?????????? Lol this place is a scam now. It used to be better before 3-4 years ago.
google avatar

Kriszti S.

Yelp
The restaurant was quick to serve us on a Saturday evening. We have ordered cocktails and mixed liquor. The servers were kind and always checked on us. We went here randomly so we did not make a reservation. The outside alleyway seating ( I posted a picture of it) was very cozy, decorated and so clean! I highly recommend the pink panther & mai Thailand drinks. Their spicy level go from 1-5, I highly recommend 4 because 3 was not that spicy! Although I got my food as a level 1, my friend and fiancé got level 4 and 3! They however serve extra spice & sauce to the table so you can always make it a bit spicy. I think this is such a great restaurant!

Stanley B.

Yelp
I was at Amazing Thai last night. I skyways get Pad See Yew with shrimp. It is the best in the cities. And, I always have enough to take some home for later. Last night I as so disappointed in the portion I received. I understand cutting back on portions but the size of the portion last night, I didn't even have enough to share. I was so disappointed with this restaurant that I have come to absolutely love. But now I will have to go else where to get a good portion of good. My message to the management is; you can do better. We supported you as regular customers during the pandemic and now you are not giving back the support. Do better!!!

Teri D.

Yelp
I ordered delivery through Uber Eats. I ordered level 3 medium spicy and there was no spice at all. Very bland and disappointing.
google avatar

Dylan R.

Yelp
I loved my experience at Amazing Thailand! I have been looking for a Thai restaurant that serves Yellow Curry, and I wasn't disappointed! Our server, Becky, was so kind and attentive. She made it a 5 star experience. The décor inside and music is great. Plating was excellent and instagrammable. As with most Minnesota places, the spice level was a bit weak - I ordered a 3 (out of 5) but didn't taste much. I don't really fault them much though - it's just a Minnesota Nice Spice kind of thing. There is indeed a 15% charge, and the sign in the resturant makes it sound like you're not expected to tip more. I don't mind too much (as long as it's not takeout) because I usually tip 20% for service anyway, so I did leave an additional tip. Overall, I'll certainly be back!
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
Went on a recommendation while in town and were NOT disappointed! Fabulous food, wonderful wait staff, lovely ambiance!
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
Beautiful interior, but today we decided to do takeout anyway. The prices are a bit high for takeout with most dishes being a minimum of $17 depending on what protein you would like. Then add in the required gratuity and taxes and you're spending a pretty penny on takeout. Thankfully, the food is very good. The noodles in my Pad See Ew were flavorful and delicate, and the greens were fresh. The chicken was seasoned well, but a bit overcooked but nothing that really hindered my enjoyment - more so, didn't add to it. Although the food was great, given the price tag it will be a while before I come back for takeout but given the beautiful atmosphere I saw inside, it might be more worth it for a special occasion or date night.

Yelp
Amazing Thailand is a mainstay of the Uptown area and equally as good a bar as a vegan-friendly Thai restaurant with bold and authentic flavors. Since moving back to Minneapolis after years of living in LA (Thai Town, specifically), I didn't think Amazing Thailand would hold water, but it does. All vegan or veganizable items are helpfully labeled on the menu. I thought the lad nah ($16) was really damn good, with a savory brown sauce and nicely fried tofu. The sauce was a bit more liquid than I'd like, but it still tasted great. The cashew nut with tofu ($16) tastes pretty good, though some bites had a weird savory undertone that I didn't care for (I think it might have come from brine from the water chestnuts and babycorn). The Amazing Curry ($16) is one of two vegan curries (the other being the red curry), and features a hefty peanut sauce and lots of broccoli. I came to enjoy this, but it's heavy and the peanut sauce was sweeter than I'd like. Lastly, the Chinese broccoli with tofu stir-fry ($16) hit the spot. The service is friendly and fast and the space is inviting, casual and good for groups. My biggest gripe is that even now, 10 years after I first started eating here, they still don't offer brown rice. Come to Amazing Thailand for a nice Thai dish, a beer and fun conversation.
google avatar

Christine D.

Yelp
Amazing Thailand's alley way patio is one of my favorite things in the spring and summer. You'll forget your in Minneapolis for a bit. I like everything i've ordered, pad see yew or drunken noodles are some of my favorites. They will let you choose your spice level and provide additional sauces to add spice to your liking. The drinks aren't my favorite so maybe opt for drinks elsewhere afterwards. Great for large groups and easy to change reservations. Service can be slow at times so get to know your server and be kind to them :)
google avatar

Dominik D.

Yelp
The lunch Special is a decent buy and looking at the heavily decorated walls while waiting for your food is a treat.
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
I cannot. Just nope! Worst service I have ever had. They were not really busy though they had people there, I've been serving for many years. -Water never came -Never asked us how it went. Had to track down 3 other people -food is extremely expensive, like nyc. $19 for fried rice - did not get flavored well -appetizers never came we were done with the entrees and asked for boxes - had to pull a different server to ask where they were. We watched her talk to our server- our server run to the system. Server never came over. But 10 minutes later heres our appetizers, we asked what happened- a quick pause on her face.... Uhm..... our entree side was quicker. Our appetizers side was behind- Okay lady. Whatever Also a forced gratuity to pay livable wages. Okay. Im all for that but this restaurant is as the most expensive Thai restaurant in the twin cities.... You can afford to pay your people.
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible customer service!!! Delayed order pick up by Uber so they just cancelled it. They were even still there but chose not to give the Uber gal the order because they said they closed. If they had made it, they should have given her the food

John F.

Yelp
Ordered from Door Dash for Mother's Day. Tried the pad thai, red curry with shrimp, egg rolls, spring rolls, thai fried rice and wonton soup. All of the dishes were good but not worth the price due to the portion size. For the amount they charge, the portions should be double the size. Won't go back at those prices but would definitely eat it again if someone ordered it for me.

Kelly M.

Yelp
The cream cheese wontons were the only thing I liked, and they were only average. The wrapper on the summer rolls was hard in spots, the peanut sauce was very thin and extremely vinegary, and the filling tasted a bit stale. The pad Thai was very one note - I did order minimal spice since I was sharing with my kid, but it was just sweet throughout, with no flavor beyond sweet. And there wasn't much to the dish- mostly noodles with only a little chicken and rice. The fried rice wasn't actively bad but it was pretty bland.
google avatar

Yelp
OVERALL: Overpriced food, and slow service. Decent food. FOOD: We ordered the chicken laab, and the jalepeno cream cheese wontons. The wontons were the best thing we ate. They weren't overly deep fried and too crunchy, it had a chewy texture without being underdone. The jalapeños weren't too spicy either just gave it some flavor. The chicken laab- I got a level 2 spice. When it arrived it looked like a hefty portion, only to realize that it was 75% vegetables. It had no flavor at all. The only thing I liked on the plate was the sticky rice and that's very hard to mess up. Disappointed because I was looking forward to good laab. SERVICE: We were seated in the very back corner by the bathrooms in this dark booth where if something went wrong our bodies were not to be found. The entire restaurant was seated toward the front (by entire I mean the other 6 people there) and we were sat in this dreary spot. It took awhile for our waitress to get there, we had to ask other people to refill waters. Our appetizer got there quickly and maybe about 15 more minutes until our entree which isn't bad. But after the entree was dropped off it was radio silence from our waitress after that. We managed to waive someone else down to get our waitress to let her know about the entree. She solved our problem swiftly by taking it off the check and that's the only highlight. PRICE: all entrees are around $15 minimum. ATMOSPHERE: I'm sure there were better window spots and things in the light- but the atmosphere I experienced was sad and dark.

Yelp
First and last time here. Their "Pad KraPow" was the most disappointing version of pad krapow I've ever had for $16.95. I ordered the regular and it was just green beans and noodles? Didn't know I was suppose to add extra protein. There was no spice/basil to it even though I clicked on X2. I was very sad and disappointed. 1/5 Mango sticky rice: rice was a bit hard but sweetness was okay 3/5 Papaya: $17.95, was decent, should've ordered it more spicy but it's okay. small portion. 2/5 Pad see ew: was plain but tasted better with a side of rice 2/5 Spring rolls: noodles were a little hard but the sauce was good 3.5/5 The best thing I had here was the Sai oua, only thing that made me less sad tonight. Finished the whole sausage by myself because it kept me happy. 5/5. Costumer service was great, super nice and friendly staff. That's why I'm rating it as 2 stars. Otherwise food is 2/5. Thank you but I'm sad and disappointed. :(

Yelp
Sat at the picnic table outside in the alley patio and loved it. Great service and delicious drinks. A perfect spot in the summer!

Yelp
I used to love amazing Thailand but recently the food flavor and quality has gone down. I suspect their food quality has become a victim of skimp-flation and they've been making cutbacks but I'd rather pay more for quality food than save money on something that doesn't taste good. There's not much that tastes "Amazing" here anymore.

Yelp
Good food but your guys price is off the chart!!!!! Reduce the price and your business will go....

Yelp
I was in the area to fix my phone and there was a wait so I grabbed some lunch here to pass the time. It was mid afternoon during the week so the place wasn't busy. Traditional Thai Decor with a lot of teak and elephants. There was a pretty large bar with seating as well. It seemed like a decent sized restaurant but I ended up sitting right by the front windows so i didn't see the back. Service was quick and the food came out quickly as well. Again, it was pretty slow that day but nice to know service doesn't take a hit. Food was good and when I asked for spices, they had the traditional four spices tray that you often see in restaurants in Thailand. Good sign. Papaya Salad was huge and the curry was good as well. I will be back when I am in the area again.

Yelp
There is a few places in uptown that I would come to eat. This place I would only come for a birthday party because I got invited and I want to celebrate. Amazing Thailand is okay Thai food especially that Frogtown has so many more options and much more reasonable priced. Service is decent. It cool that they have drinks. I usually order a Pad See Ew and it's decent flavor wise. Just really pricey. Overrall this place is meh.

Yelp
A gem. Great ambiance (suitable for groups or date night), consistently good food (with vegan options), and Monee might be the most enthusiastic server I've ever met at any restaurant in the world. Highly recommended.
