We spent 3 unforgettable days at Amazon Lodge Tambopata with friends, and it was hands down one of the best nature getaways we’ve had. From the moment we arrived by boat, we We spent 3 incredible days at Amazon Lodge Tambopata with friends, and it was one of the most healing and enriching experiences we’ve had. The lodge is beautifully located in the heart of the jungle - peaceful, remote, and alive with the sounds of birds and wildlife, day and night. The meals were delicious, freshly prepared and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Our guides made the experience truly memorable. Sergio met us on day one and took us to Monkey Island, where we saw monkeys in their natural habitat. That night, he led us on a cayman-spotting adventure - exciting and memorable! Throughout our stay, Sergio was helpful, kind, and always ready to assist or share insights about the jungle. Santos guided us on a full-day hike and canoe trip to Lake Sandoval, sharing fascinating knowledge about the plants, birds, and animals we encountered. He also took us on a night walk, revealing the amazing nocturnal life of the rainforest. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect, recharge and experience the Amazon authentically, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

I had a really good experience despite some inconveniences. I did the “Macaw Tours 5 days and 4 nights”. Originally I had booked the slightly cheaper “Camping, expedition 5 days / 4 nights”. But upon arriving at the main office I was told that it wasn’t possible to do the tour for only one person and I was therefore upgraded to this tour. I did a lot of activities and the guides were generally very good at spotting animals. Efrain was very enthusiastic and I could really tell he enjoyed his job. Santos was also amazing and really wanted us to get the very best experience. I had great fishing experience with Bastian. He was just as thrilled as me when I actually caught some fish in the river. The bad part being there was parts of the itinerary which were just skipped and couldn’t be done because of planning. And not all guides were equally good at English. But then again I did some extra activities instead and the guides tried their best to make me get the best experience. Overall a really great tour ad something I would recommend.

My partner and I spent two nights in March 2025 at the Amazon Lodge Tambopata. We had a Combo-Tour where we stayed the first night of our 3D/3N itinerary at a different lodge. At arrival we were warmly welcomed by Sergio and got to know the only other two guests at this time during the first activity: a Caiman search in the evening. After dinner we had a sound healing ceremony guided by Sergio together with the two Spanish guests. The next day we had a trip planned to the Sandoval Lake and although the weather was not so nice in the beginning, we saw a lot of wildlife like the Giant otters (four of the group), bats, caimans, squirl monkeys and many different birds. We were super happy with that especially that we got to see the otters. Our great guide Bastian really tried to make this a special experience. In the evening, after talking to Sergio where he explained us everything, we had the Ayahuasca ceremony guided by Shaman Master Victor and with Sergio as “Shaman in training”. It was an extraordinary unique experience where we could really connect with our inner selves. The next morning, we made a walk through the jungle with Sergio and a new guest from China. Sergio explained us a lot about jungle plants and even though we had made several jungle walks before, this one felt very special. After the ceremony we really felt the connection to nature more intense than ever. The accommodation is like jungle lodges usually are pretty basic and the food was good except the first evening. There is no Wifi in the rooms but in the common area where you eat it’s good. We had a great time and would highly recommend it. Sergio is a truly wonderful person with an exceptional positive vibe, and he speaks perfect English.

Tambopata Lodge is a wonderful place to stay, I'm really grateful for my time here. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is delicious, there's beautiful nature walks to do, and you can watch the sunset from the river out front. The owner, Abed is a great person and he and Shaman Victor offer a very authentic and rustic Ayahuasca ceremony. My favourite thing about Tambopata was definitely the friendly staff, they're so welcoming and fun and kind. Thanks for having me x

We had a fabulous time here in February 20-23rd 2025. Just wanted to thank everyone for a memorable stay especially Rollin our fantastic guide and Robinson who drove the boat. The rooms are basic but adequate. The food is excellent and the staff are so friendly. Don’t forget insect repellent The excursions were so much fun and we saw loads of different monkeys, river otters, sloth, cayman, pirrahna, tarantulas. The parrot salt lick was a highlight. Best regards to Rollin, you are the best guide Teena and Malcolm ( England)

Extremely negative experience at this location, management was difficult to work with and did not communicate changes to our schedule clearly and on time. Cancelled our tour to Yakumama, but luckily, we were able to find a different tour company who was able to schedule a tour for us the same day on our last day at Puerto Maldonado. Tours were disorganized and times are not communicated to you until the night before, and often with incorrect information. For example, we were told to be by the pier by 2:30 am, but the boat driver did not wake up and greet us until much later. The next day, we were told to meet a guide at 5:20am, but the guide told us that he had been waiting for us since 5am. Similar experience by other guests who we talked to. Tour guides were amazing. Would recommend staying at other places or looking into other tour companies in the area.

CAUTION: Management scams and threatens to kick you out in the middle of the night if you contest. Would recommend booking another place. Management: 0/5 Staff: 5/5 Location: 5/5. Poor facilities but amazing wild life at the lodge. We stayed for 2 days 2 nights and booked several tours. - Tours were changed without our consent (e.g. lake Yacumama was replaced with a random river nearby) - Tours were shortened (e.g. full day to half day) - Equipment was missing (e.g. single rod for private fishing tour for 2) - We were tricked into booking expensive private tours that we did not need (otherwise they said we would miss our flight - but they were plenty of group tours that arrived and left before our private tour) - They refused to organize some tours, telling us it was impossible - we were able to do it ourselves in 15min IMPORTANT: When we contested and asked management for a partial refund they threatened to kick off my wife and I in the middle of the night and to last minute cancel the remaining tours we had booked 2+ months ago.

I have stayed at Amazon Tambopata Lodge twice now. March 2024 and March 2025 and I am in the process of planning my return for summer 2025. The staff are lovely, always kind and helpful. The food is fantastic! I have never gone hungry while staying there, but a few guys that were there with me last time mentioned they wished there had been more food. And more food was available when I requested it for them (not sure why they felt shy to ask for themselves). Both times I went was for ayahuasca ceremonies. Admittedly I was nervous at first, I didn’t speak great Spanish yet and was afraid of what I would experience. Speaking with Master Victor I was able to quickly understand that he would take excellent care of me throughout the process. And Sergio is an incredible aid through the whole process as well, relatively fluent in English and extremely eager to help translate and assist with any ceremony related questions. I’ve now done 6 ceremonies with their team and it has completely changed my life. The price is incredibly fair and really speaks to their desire to offer ayahuasca for its intended purpose, to help people heal, not for psychedelic tourism like so many other places. Their tours are nice, I have tried most of them. Though it’s not the purpose of my visit and I was often exhausted from ceremony when joining a tour. Bastien is a wonderful guide and a truly kind man. I can’t wait to go back and am working on gathering friends who are also interested in trying ayahuasca. 12/10 experience!!!
