amba Taipei Ximending

Nice hotel in a great location, very walkable and close to transit. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice bar. Spacious room even by Western standards, well maintained, comfortable bed. Room fixtures are not high end but clean and functional. Now the bad news for me: the bathroom layout setup is a deal breaker for me to stay again, unless traveling alone. There is a separate water closet, which is ok but it has a frosted glass door that stops several inches short of the ceiling, which mean toilet sounds and odors are not contained but shared with the room, and if you turn on the light in the night it shines through the door and wakes your partner. Terrible design. The sink is in the room, and while it's nice that there is ample counter space, you can't wash your hands etc. without waking your partner. The separate shower is nice and huge, but again you step out straight into the room, no alcove, no privacy at all. If you are traveling solo or are VERY open and don't mind sharing EVERYTHING with your room mate, this hotel might be a good option based on the convenient location and good value for the room.

Great location, the rooms are quite spacious, they offer a free laundry room with very good and quick machines. The water pressure is not great, but the overhead shower head makes up for this. The bed is very good. We booked a room with a window which in some photos looked like it's a view, but in fact it was towards an inner atrium in the building. The bathroom didn't provide the highest level of privacy from the room itself, but it was fine for a couple. I'd come back if I'm in Taipei again, mainly due to proximity to the subway, public bicycles station and Ximending.

My family stayed at Amba for two night and found the stay pleasant. The hotel location is conveniently located - with many amenities in walking distance from the hotel (shops, convenient stores etc) as well as the train station. The only challenge we found was that on Saturday, the to the hotel is closed to vehicles, so you have to be dropped off in adjacent streets and walk across. The rooms themselves are clean and spacious - design like a warehouse but still felt some warmth. The usual amenities are provided kettles, soaps, towels etc. Hotel is baby friendly, providing us with a cot. Furthermore, there is a free washer and dryer available to guests which is a godsend when travelling. Overall value for money and a fantastic location.

First, location is quite convenient with easy access to train station and popular Taiwanese restaurants / food shops in Ximending area. Room was clean and housekeeping was always diligent. Laundry facility was helpful. But what really blew me the most was how the staff went above and beyond. They must have seen from our passports that it was my husband's birthday... I did not request anything from them but we came back to the hotel with a surprise cake and "happy birthday" letters hanging by the wall. it was a really pleasant surprise. and when we checked out, they were prompt in contacting us about a left behind item which wasn't ours anyway but the effort is still very commendable!

This was my third start at this hotel during the last 8 years. The location is great if you want to be in the middle of everything. The rooms, while simple, are comfortable and have been maintained well over the years. The price is good, the staff are incredibly helpful and kind, and they offer a free laundry and umbrellas for guests. Overall another great experience and highly recommended.

Perfect location and very friendly staff. The room was exceptionally clean and spacious. King bed was large and very comfortable. Located close to so much shopping, bars, and restaurants but still quiet inside the room. We had a great stay!

Steps to Ximending shopping area and 5 min to mrt. We had a twin room xlarge for 3 people. Room was large enough but the day bed is really not for sleeping. Just a soft cushion on top. WiFi is strong when working but was down for more than 4 hours. Still down as I write this review which is why I gave the hotel less stars. Staff generally nice except for a few abrupt ones at the front desk. Being friendly does go a long way to make your guests welcome. I am a bit hesitant to recommend but location is great

Help in maps, 24/7 Reception|3) Breakfast - Very good & extensive|4) Big rooms with a hangers and shelves. |5)Clean|6)Separate shower from toilet - Some might find this inconvenient though.|7) Nice lobby/lounge for relaxing. ||Would definitely stay here again with my family. Hotel has a warm hip vibe. ||CONS: |1)No driveway for drop off, No parking - Can be inconvenient for guests with heavy luggage which you have to drag until the hotel.|2)Security - The hotel reception is in the 5F. There was one staff member guarding the elevator in the street level only at certain hours. Anyone can go up until the 5F Reception (no access card needed).
