This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
I booked a two-night stay (approximately 100K ish NTD for 2 nights), with only one simple goal: to rest and recover from a long and exhausting journey. I extended my stay specifically to avoid moving hotels and to get uninterrupted rest.
Instead, I was disturbed by housekeeping knocking on my door two days in a row, the first time around 1:00 PM, and the second time shockingly at just after 10:00 AM, barely half an hour after breakfast service ended.
At check-in and during the extension, no one informed me of housekeeping hours, and there was no system note or inquiry as to whether I needed cleaning. I intentionally did not hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign out of safety concerns as a solo female traveler, and yet I was blamed for not notifying them in advance.
After being woken up again on the second day, I became emotionally overwhelmed and requested to check out early. The duty manager insisted on charging me for one night I would not be staying.
I then contacted Booking.com support and clearly requested that the hotel must confirm with me before processing any cancellation or refund, as I was concerned about the hotel’s lack of professionalism and empathy. Booking assured me the hotel would contact me.
Instead, I received a call directly from the hotel saying: “The full refund has been processed. What time will you be checking out?”, with no prior confirmation or communication as promised.
At checkout, I received a single “Sorry about that,” but no sincere acknowledgment or apology for what had happened.
This experience reflects not a one-time error, but a complete disregard for basic hospitality standards, guest well-being, and communication.
I used to really like Taipei. Now, I never want to come back.
I would strongly advise anyone, especially solo travelers, those who value privacy, or guests in need of proper rest, to think twice before staying here. The price is premium, but the experience was shockingly poor.
