"Vivanta by Taj Ambassador New Delhi Still known to locals as the Ambassador, the hotel is a listed heritage site built in 1945 by colonial architect Walter Sykes George in a fusion of British and Art Deco styles. But its purchase and refurbishment by the Taj Hotels group ensures its present-day comforts, namely pet-friendly rooms with high ceilings, reliable WiFi, and 24-hour room service. While the early clientele included Indian royals, today the building attracts business and leisure travelers looking for a terrific value for their money and a convenient launchpad from which to experience modern New Delhi—it’s next door to one of the city’s most upscale shopping malls. Shop till you drop, then return to the hotel for international favorites like burgers, pasta, and steaks, as well as Indian tandoori specialties at Yellow Brick Road restaurant."

This Chain of Taj has a different and unique authentic feeling. I have stayed here and always love to be put up at this outlet. The rustic look has its charm. The entire staff deserves a Kudoo. Humble and sweet. Mr. Uma Shankar at the dining area makes you have a full filled meal.

I had a wonderful stay at the ambassador and the highlight was the woman who is the second in charge of housekeeping very kindly draped my sari for me. She did a great job and I received many compliments all night at our exhibition opening on the draping. Also Matin my room housekeeper did a wonderful job. Every need was instantly met. Breakfast was yummy and the masala chai was a highlight in the morning.

If you need to sell anything to Millennials, Gen X & Boomers - wrap it in a bit of nostalgia. The Ambassador brings back so many memories of the years gone by. Quaint, tucked away, but right next to Khan market. It’s ideal for work or leisure. The Taj-ness we all swear by, evidently seen amongst the staff at the hotel. While the hotel is dated, it rightly qualifies for heritage and brings out the old world charm. Special mention to Uma Ji ki chai - not only is the chai so so good, Tying it with retro music on a radio & the ever so kind Uma Shankar is a genius move. The teams across departments are So so kind.

The Ambassador is less like a hotel and more like having a family home in New Delhi. From the time you arrive, the warm and friendly staff will make you feel like you belong there. The rooms are extremely spacious, more like suites with a sitting area complete with sofa and commodious desk. Hukum ji helped us with our luggage and gave us a comprehensive introduction to the property, while Wasi and Sparsh were very helpful with sharing info as we planned our day around Khan Market (which is easily walkable from the property). Mr. Prakash Bhatt was extremely welcoming at breakfast, packed fruits for takeaway breakfast for me, and made sure there was no way our stay could have been better. Will definitely be staying again!

Ambassador Hotel is a great spot in central New Delhi, close to all the tourist attractions. |It has a great art deco/art moderne style to it and an old world feel. |My room was large, comfortable, with air conditioning and a nice bathroom. |Everything was clean and well cared for. |The staff are the highlight. The front desk team were very amenable to keeping my luggage for over 24 hours when I made an overnight trip to Agra. They were helpful in making reservations at restaurants and giving advice on where to visit in Delhi.

Great hotel, ideal location next to Khan Market||Uma Shankar’s masala chai was a great start to each morning. Apoorva in the breakfast room the yellow brick road was immensely helpful and insightful too. ||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ambassador & would recommend having bfast at yellow brick road; a wholesome restaurant with a variety of food including live stations and eggs, parathas made to order 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 they also have a wonderful variety for those who cannot eat too much spice - 100% would recommend!

I recently stayed at Taj Ambassador, SeleQtions and it was truly a delightful experience. The hotel’s location near Khan Market is unbeatable, offering easy access to Delhi’s best cafes, shops, and cultural spots. The heritage charm of the property is beautifully preserved, giving it a unique character that sets it apart from modern hotels. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, providing everything I needed for a relaxing stay. What stood out the most was the exceptional hospitality of the staff specially Uma, Apoorva, Prakash from Yellow Brick Road. From check-in to check-out, everyone was courteous, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. The restaurant and breakfast options were excellent. Overall, this hotel combines old-world elegance with modern comfort, making it a perfect choice . I would highly recommend it and look forward to returning on my next trip.

I recently stayed at the Ambassador Hotel, New Delhi, and I must admit I was deeply disappointed by the upkeep and overall experience. Despite being a loyal guest across multiple Taj properties, this stay felt far below the brand’s usual standards. The room I was first allotted was in poor condition — unclean, lights not working, phone dead, and an overall neglected setup. Even basic amenities reflected a lack of care. While I understand that this is a heritage property, heritage doesn’t have to mean run-down — there are several beautifully maintained examples across India that prove otherwise. After repeated requests, I was eventually moved to a better room, but it still didn’t meet the expectations that come with the Taj name or a ₹19,000+ room rate per night. The balcony chairs were broken, the overall maintenance was subpar, and the experience left me questioning the attention to detail that Taj is otherwise known for. The only saving grace was the food specifically in room dining. This stay has genuinely diminished the respect and trust I’ve always had for the brand. I sincerely hope the management reviews this feedback seriously and takes the necessary steps to restore the Taj standard that guests like me value and choose you for.
