Celebrated my daughter's 21st in the Glasshouse upstairs. The room was perfect and looked really pretty in winter. Darren & Grace and the rest of the staff were amazing. (We got good updates on how the tab was tracking :) ) Food kept coming all night and was delicious. Great night, guests loved it and the venue is highly recommended.

Great Event Venue ! First floor is a beautiful space for an event. Guests spilled out into the balcony too with sofas and tables and were able to chat away from the dance floor.  Perfect for our 21st. Platters were good and staff were fantastic. Audio well set up with mic for speeches and a wall mounted iPad to line up your Spotify. Staff were very responsive to our needs from set-up right through event and take-down.

Renovations they are doing befuddle me. They have a smoking area out back without openings into the rest of the place so the smoke drifts through the whole place. Not a good idea and probably not legal these days. Need to review their management and take their location seriously. It used to be a classy place.

I had my 30th here at the Glasshouse venue. It looks much better now that it's renovated. The staffs are nice but could probably do better with communication especially when organising a big event. I would email but would not get a response close to a week later. My birthday came around and no communication was made unless I physically sent multiple emails and calls to be able to get to the person in charge. The night went well, the staffs accommodated us well and was helpful, although we mentioned at the venue visits that if there were plenty of food left over, we would pack them to takeaway. Instead the staffs took it back to the kitchen and did not leave it for the guests to continue eating throughout the night. Another issue we had was upon asking if we could leave the backdrop over the weekend to pick up later on (was told they close Sundays in email and in person, that was fine with me), I also enquired regarding the Monday being a public holiday both in an email prior to the event (never got a response) and on the night (myself, partner and friend) doubled check to see that they are opened, and the event manager (organises the email) definitely said they were opened so we could come back so we did not bother to pack up as I've had a big day on the night and would like to come back after the weekend to pick up. Arriving on Monday (as they mentioned they'll be opened for sure, checking in multiple times on the night of the event), to a surprise, they were closed. Emailed them to tell about the situation and that I've come to see the venue closed and was being charged a late fee to my backdrop hiring, there were no apology and how they can compensate their mistakes. I emailed about my frustrations of this issue and it seems like they have ignored me and not responded. The venue is lovely but would'nt recommend it if you hate not having proper communication especially when dealing and organising a large event. The venue is under new management but needs to work on their communication skills and even acknowledging any mistakes they may have made.

We are disappointed to learn that the ambassador's hotel still owes this non-for-profit university club $300.00 from their deposit for an event back in May. After countless emails, phone calls and walk ins for 2 months post event, it is disheartening that the company has not reimbursed us, and the issue remains unresolved. This club did everything right towards the company, and it is only fair the company does right back for their customers. Would not recommend hosting an event here, when having to wait over 2 months for a simple deposit it is such a headache to deal with.

Lovely little hotel tucked away in the city.. perfect place for an afterwork or lunch time brew or two. Very friendly and accommodating bar staff & decent priced drinks and menu.. I find it relaxed and peaceful yet vibrant & lively. Two thumbs up.

My parents and I were there for a function in the Amber Lounge and we had a fantastic time ! The staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating of us, my father has Parkinson's and has trouble with stairs so they were always there to help us with his walker and moved us to a lift accessible room. The room was gorgeous, beautiful period features with an updated bathroom, and the Lounge was so classic and comfortable. We can't wait to come again !

Yelp
Ahh yes, I remember the days when I used to sit in the back area of this pub on a Friday after work having a few beers with friends. Things have certainly changed since those days, and while I would like to say that the Ambassadors hasn't, I have to admit that in a way it has. Okay, they still have the restaurant upstairs (which I have frequented a number of times - it's pretty classy) and I'm not sure if that basement bar is still there (it is usually closed when I came by), but the Marble Bar is still out the back, and is still pretty much the same, with the exception that it now has a back door that opens out into a, well, not so much a beer garden, but a beer alley way spot to sit down (and they have another bar behind that). I'm not actually sure what to call it, except that it is out the back in the alley, but it is still pretty cool because it actually adds a bit of a grunge element to what in former times was sort of a classy bar, but not really.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice now and recommend. It is the second cheapest hotel in Adelaide (ignoring hostels - and the bank st that is $8 cheaper has absolutely horrific reviews) For under $100 you can get a room with more character than most hotels have in the whole hotel. Everything here is old, while the new furnishings fit in with the character and feeling of the building. Parking is cheap if you are sensible (we parked at topham mall which is well known as the cheapest in Adelaide, and walked the short distance over) My absolute favourite thing (and for some reason the main part of many bad reviews) is the original elevator. It is so much fun. It is reminiscent of the Titanic elevator in that you must close the doors yourself (two sets) and open the doors on the other side when you reach your floor. The elevator will not work if the doors are not secure. I felt very safe in the lift and really enjoy using it. My room both times was huge in comparison to other budget accommodation and the bathroom was huge! We had huge floor length mirrors along one wall which for three girls going out in town was perfect for checking outfits! The rooms cleanliness is not on par with big high budget hotels, but this doesn't really bother me. If there is a small stain on the carpet it doesn't affect my stay. The air conditioning was really good. The little alleyway bar out the back is adorable and a great place to relax quietly in the arvo or a bit more raucous at night. The only annoyance with the Ambassadors is that is is on top of a club, so you do go to sleep with a fair doof doof noise into the early hours. Breakfast is also included in the budget price which was served to us on the balcony bar. The balcony bar was a stunning area which I could picture a wedding in. Breakfast was yummy (continental) with a great variety. The ambassadors hotel is my choice for accommodation in Adelaide and will continue to be so.

Yelp
Wow, they have really done this place up. Last time I was here it was pure 1980's styling, everything seems to be a lot classier now, although it seems that the epic pokie room remains, albeit in a less ubiquitous fashion. The food is really good, although not as budget as in the past. Service is good. I must say I love the balcony dining room.

Yelp
After not booking a table on a Friday night and looking for somewhere to eat, we gave up on many other places who were booked and stumbled into Ambassadors.. This place looks seedy from the outside and as soon as you walk in, however head to back and you find a little bar with tables and couches! The place gives off a comfortable after work drink atmosphere and seemed surprisingly popular! We decided to have some drinks and order some food, I got the salt and pepper squid. The squid came with chilli jam and aioli, and was really, really delicious and will definitely be back! Great little place :)

Yelp
I spent my Fringe here last year after the then 'Bull and Bear' (now Jack Ruby) venue pulled all Fringe shows on the day of Fringe starting for bullsh*t reasons. These guys were lifesavers! We did all our shows there and they really looked after us when they weren't signed up to do so. I had a few meals there, and they do a fabulous burger. Staff service is excellent, they're a lovely crew. Hope to see you at some point this year!

Yelp
One word for the food here.. MEDEOCRE. I had the supposed 'Panko Crumbed Flathead' what I got however was plain crumbled overcooked fish with a spattering of chips and what they called a salad (consisting of tomato with a little onion and basil) Another person had the Burger and the patty for that was way to overcooked. I'll not be going back there to eat.

Yelp
After going under a major overhaul, the renovations have made this place a real hotspot. Everyday there's something special on. Mondays are Schintzels, delicious crumbed meats with battered chips, and Thursdays you can get a Ambassador Steak Sandwich for 15 dollars. From memory they used to have Open Mic Nights on Fridays, not sure if that's still on. The architecture inside consists of an old-world style, high ceilings and chandeliers. But the menu reflects a more contemporary style. Overall this is a great classy place to hang.

Yelp
Only hit the bar, but loved it. A weird period-kitchy kind of a place. Going for a jazz lounge bar, kind of funky, but getting a retro-lounge. Would definitely bring a group here and, being a hotel bar, you could probably have the whole place to yourself. The excellent barman said the room was 160 years old. Cool little laneway patio too.

Yelp
What a DUMP! This place is an all new low for us. Bed belongs on a prison barge. Mold & mildew in room is terrible. Dinning room was closed during our stay. Other places we stayed in Sydney, Mclaren Vale, were great! This place is horrid. Charges extra for credit card use also. Cost a fortune to park.
