From the moment we arrived, Victor went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was nothing short of perfect. His attention to detail, warm personality, and genuine willingness to assist us in every aspect of our visit was truly remarkable. Whether it was arranging special activities, making dining reservations, or simply checking in to ensure our comfort, Victor consistently exceeded our expectations. He played a pivotal role in making our stay an unforgettable experience, and we are incredibly grateful for his dedicated efforts. Review Ambergris Cay is such a wonderful resort! We had the pleasure of experiencing the sunset cruise, couples massage, personal bonfire dinner over the water, glass bottom kayaking and the hangover bar twice! The chef makes fresh and beautiful meals, and the array of options never disappoints. Having our own golf cart gave us the freedom to explore and plan our day on our own time! Luis was extra helpful during our personalized bonfire dinner. He assisted my partner with executing an extra special surprise. Along with his personality and friendliness, he really elevated the experience! Pedro had such a bubbly and fun personality at the hangover bar. He was one of the reasons we decided to do this experience twice! He suggested many wonderful pictures and videos that are now memories for a lifetime! We truly believe his talents in this field could be appreciated and executed with the marketing team. We would not have asked for a better island host than Victor! He was truly remarkable in helping my partner plan an extra special and personal surprise. He helped us personalize our entire stay to our needs and requests to make every experience seamless! Ayu from the spa and wellness team was so kind and helpful during our massage, but especially during our 3 morning yoga classes. She caters her teaching methods perfectly and will come and personally assist and guide you for your comfort and skill level. She made every morning bright and enjoyable. After talking to multiple other couples, we all agreed we would return!

Ambergris Cay is an incredible and unique getaway—a private island that offers a level of seclusion, relaxation, and luxury that’s hard to find anywhere else. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped into a peaceful, untouched paradise. The resort is truly exclusive, private, and with a pristine beach and no crowds—just pure tranquility. Beachfront Bungalow Experience Our 1,600 sq. ft. beachfront bungalow was spacious, private, and luxurious, with a heated plunge pool, hammock, and lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. A personal golf cart made exploring easy. The only drawback was the shallow water in front of our bungalow (1-2 feet deep)—great for floating on a raft but not for wading or swimming. Dining & Atmosphere Breakfast was excellent, with classic favorites and chef’s specials. Room service lunch was good but sometimes arrived cooler than expected. The pizza at the Clubhouse, was great. Dinner was exceptional—fresh seafood (especially lobster & grouper), a beautiful beachfront setting, and attentive service from Chantel made every meal feel special. Service & Arrival Experience The service was outstanding. Our Island Host, Clemente, went above and beyond, ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience. Activities & Excursions Hangover Floating Bar – A fun, must-do experience on crystal-clear waters. Tennis & Fitness Center – Well-equipped gym with stunning ocean views. Sunset Cruise – Disappointing; the boat remained mostly stationary. Bonfire at Monck Beach – Disappointing. No seating, and we were the only ones there. Accessibility Considerations Private pool has five steps, no handrails— my wife needed assistance. Indoor shower is slippery, and water splashes onto the floor. Final Thoughts Ambergris Cay is a hidden gem—a private island retreat offering peace, luxury, and unmatched seclusion. The only downside is the shallow beach, but everything else was near perfect. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. We hope to return someday!

This review is no reflection of the staff or the service received. Everyone was amazing and felt like we were all family. I know the staff gets a bonus of sorts if there name is called out during reviews; I have no issue doing this (no I’m not a bot, I’m a human who knows how the service industry works!) So a very special thanks to; Evelyn, Francena, Louis, Miguel, Jocelyn, Pedro and the happiest human alive, James our host. Love you all. The villas are amazing, seriously amazing. Your own pool, seating area, quiet beach, hammock. Rooms are spacious; although need some better attention to stuff as it falls apart (who puts tiles back together with Caulking???) But none of that affects your experience. You’ll get your own golf cart; which you’ll need because everything is a drive but Calico. There is lots to do during the day; pickleball, tennis, sup’s, kayaks, e-bike and walking. Our biggest issue with the resort is the vibe, or lack thereof. Now we did pick the week after Christmas break when everyone is back to routine and the resort was at only 40%. So the feeling of being on your own island is cool, until it’s not. Our first few nights we were basically the only ones left at the restaurant by 8pm, 8! Like is everyone going to bed at 8:30?! We did have a saxophone player a couple of nights, but he started at 7:30 and ended at 8:30. The nights there was a bone fire, my husband and I were the only ones there to enjoy it! We’ve relaxed/played all day together; it would be nice to do something besides go to bed by 9! Everyday we saw just a handful of people; which just killed the vibe a bit. As we had so much time to explore the island; we noticed a lot of missed opportunities to really give the resort some punch. Like there are little beaches everywhere that would be perfect for picnics and lounge chairs, there is a pier by the villas that would amazing for a sunset bar. So again, the place is amazing. But we were so starved for vibes we were ready to get back home mid week. The food is actually pretty good for only having one restaurant; I would say better then average for most dishes. The wine list is small and most night they didn’t have the bottle we were looking for. What we liked the most is the portion sizes; they were absolutely perfect, enough to eat but not enough that you felt like a stuffed pig. We did have an opportunity to enjoy a couples massage at the spa; the ladies there are fantastic! I would say it’s another part of the resort that could use attention. We did the Champagne journey and after our massages we were left in the room to enjoy our champagne and strawberries…while sitting on the massage tables? Not sure why they didn’t move us to a better location. All in all, I think it’s a great introverted location. Or I can see a destination wedding or maybe a large family retreat. Things you wouldn’t need a resort vibe for. The best part of our holiday was the endless exploring and the hangover bar!

I can’t say enough great things about Ambergris Cay. It is absolutely breathtaking. My daughter and I had the best time ever. The experience, the peacefulness on the island, the above 5 star service, the activities, the food, the drinks, the spa was like no other. Garey and Chef Jason made this an unforgettable experience for me and my daughter. Her birthday cake was delicious;) The boat staff were so helpful and kind, honestly everyone we met was just great!! We highly recommended anyone staying here.

We enjoyed everything about our stay at Ambergris Cay - from the moment of our arrival to this stunning island to our last minute in the breathtaking paradise. There was so much to be thankful for about our experience - friendly, accommodating, and absolutely incredible staff, especially our island host Apri. A professional, kind, efficient and responsive host who greeted us with a smile all week long and beautifully took care of us ~ from papaya, to Coronas, to ensuring our golf cart was parked in reverse and ready for our next adventure. Everything about our most exciting journey would not have been complete without Apri’s attention to detail! Shout out to the Calico staff, especially José ~ a diverse family crew who exuded a welcoming ease and genuing warmth. Chefs Teddy and Carmen master the culinary art to perfection with delectable, mouthwatering, island inspired dishes and a menu that is worth coming back for. Friday’s menu, for example, was lobster inspired everything and what a gastronomical experience that was. The drinks selection was extraordinary with refreshing, handcrafted cocktails highlighting Jay’s jalapeño infused tequila recipe for the perfect Hot Summer Vibes concoction. And lastly, you get to enjoy live saxophone by Giancarlos almost every evening! On the water front, shout out to Captain MJ - happy, cheerful, genuine and welcoming, he made our floating bar experience, Hobiecat lesson and private picnic trip truly awesome 😎 Thank you for your hospitality during our visit! We had an amazing time at Ambergris Cay. It is a beautiful island and the people are so friendly. We got to know Kobe and Chadeline and we had a wonderful butler, Garey, who was quick to help us with anything we needed. My husband had his heart set on drinking from a coconut, and it took 3 days, but Garey found some and hand-delivered them! The food here is delicious and the pools are amazing. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, tubing, and getting massages. Unfortunately they didn't have diving available, but the other experiences were amazing. I highly recommend Ambergris Cay and Garey!

My husband and I recently returned from a 4-night stay at Ambergris Cay. If we can summarize this island it would be a perfect blend of seclusion and isolation coupled with all the pampering and amenities of the most modern resorts. Upon arrival on this beautiful private island by private plane; we were immediately introduced to Gary our personal butler. Gary made our trip truly amazing! He brought us via golf cart to our cottage and showed us the lay of the land. At this time he also scheduled any of the activities we wanted to participate in. He then gave us a cell phone which we could use to contact him for anything we would need during our stay – what a fantastic idea and a great amenity. If we had any concerns about a vacation on a private island it was the potential lack of things to do. This was NOT a problem at all! Gary helped us schedule our daily massages, lunch on a deserted island, fishing trip and a day at the clubhouse for sailing and paddling. Each of these excursions are great and highly recommended. They were well planned by the staff and most importantly did not take up too much time out of our day. A special thanks to Louis and Fancy who drove us around on the boat and gave us some of the most amazing video of a shark, Jo-Jo the dolphin and a gigantic stingray!! This was truly a highlight of our trip. The food was awesome. There was a wide variety to choose from for breakfast, lunch anddinner. The wines offered were also very good and unlimited! We took full advantage of in-suite dining for breakfast. This was truly a treat to enjoy breakfast with an amazing view of your own private beach! Gary set up our breakfast each morning on our veranda. Eating breakfast in my big comfy robe and enjoying the most amazing view was something I will never forget. Our cottage was very high-tech and had everything you might want – portable speaker, lanterns,espresso machine and more. The Wi-Fi was top notch and great for video calling those back home. The floor to ceiling windows were amazing; complete with remote control privacy blinds as well as blackout shades. Raising the blinds every morning to the most beautiful view whileenjoying a cup of coffee was awesome! Did I mention our own private pool! Yup, it was a perfect viewing spot for the most amazing sunsets! You are provided a golf cart upon arrival. This was a very fun part. If I can provide any tips, it would be to use the golf cart to explore the island. There are no restrictions as to where you can go. Each day after breakfast, we would jump in our cart and explore the island. We took some amazing pictures along the cliffs on the windward side and got to see some of the beautiful homes on the rest island. I tried to remember names for this review, and I know I don’t have everyone. But we wanted to say thank you to Gary for just about everything. You made this vacation the most memorable ever. Also thanks to Danae who came through in a big way when we needed some extra beers while watching the New Orleans Saints football game. Jerald (Jay Jay) you single handily converted this beer drinker to a cocktail drinker. If anyone out there has the pleasure to step up to his bar just ask him for the Jay Jay Special; I promise you will love it!! Junie, Emmanuella,Adno, and Damien you guys also helped make this trip so special. You made us smile everyday with your warm personalities. We miss you guys every day! My husband I and highly recommend Ambergris Cay. The staff exceeded our expectations in every way. They truly want you to have an amazing vacation on their private island. This small island resort has only been open for one year, but they know exactly what it takes to provideeach guest with a lifetime of amazing memories. We hope to be back next year.
