Ambiente Hotel Freieck

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station in the old town near all cafes and restaurants. The staff at the reception was super friendly and professional. Both ladies, which names I can't recall were lovely upon our arrival and departure. The room was absolutely beautiful with large windows facing the church tower and the old town. The room was very big and comfortable. There was no a/c but it had two working fans, but there was such a nice breeze with those big windows that there was no need for a/c or fans. The bathroom was quite comfortable as well. The hotel was spotless. The included breakfast was absolutely terrific! We were only in Chur for one day , but if we had known what a beautiful Alpine city Chur was, we would have stayed an extra day.

This hotel is a little on the quirky side|The decor is very eclectic and a bit dated but everywhere was clean |Bed linen was odd seersucker fabric....very 80's style|Our room was small and hot, with 2 free standing fans provided which moved hot air around. My wife and I spent one night here in Chur as a layover to get an early start the next morning on the Bernina Express train through the Alps. This turned out to be not only a real gem of a hotel but a beautiful Alpine town in it's own right! The hotel is a short distance from the train station. The city is very walkable and scenic with many wonderful cafes and shops. The hotel was spotless with all the needed amenities. The included breakfast was terrific with fresh cooked eggs and a vast selection of other breakfast staples. The staff were all friendly and super helpful for us. We totally enjoyed our stay here and wish we would have planned an extra day to explore the town more.

A wonderful stay at this charming hotel in the beautiful city of Chur. The room and bathroom were all clean and comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and attentive as was the breakfast service. The location was excellent, right in the city centre and a 10 minute walking distance to the train station.

Good points: clean room and decent shower. Lovely bread served at breakfast buffet with some very tasty jams. Short (uphill) walk from the station and on the edge of the Old Town. An old and interesting building.|Not so good: difficult for disabled with steps to climb to reach the lift. Breakfast was average. The note at the table needs to be more friendly. Boiled eggs were cold, and why were they in coloured shells? Just a gimmick. They do not offer alternative milks, but you can buy some in the Coop, and they’ll keep it in the fridge. The fresh fruit salad looked tired.

Hotel front desk clerk was rude at check in. Beds/pillows were so uncomfortable. I have travelled all around the world and stayed in all kinds of places. I had the worst sleep of my life in this hotel. I could not sleep for more than an hour at a time due to the terrible pillows provided in the room. I kept having to get up and walk around due to back/neck pains. It was difficult to move for an hour after waking up in the morning. Proper pillows should be provided.

Reasonable sized rooms all nice and clean when we arrived but then let down by the servicing. We had to chase other first day at 5:30 pm to get our room serviced!|A decent breakfast buffet in a nice, airy dining room.|Two big downfalls. |A totally inadequate and unreliable lift which is not much fun if you are on the fourth floor.|A bar which does not take card payment, only cash.

We stayed at Ambiente Chur during holidays. Beautiful room with good size twin beds and clean linen, clean walking shower, great view, excellent full breakfast with eggs, sausages, bacon and other intercontinental varieties. Very friendly staff who literally paid special attention to the details. Excellent location very close to the railways and downtown. We were very impressed with this hotel and breakfast. We will definitely consider staying again at this great hotel. Highly recommend if you are traveling to chur by Bernina express.

This hotel is absolutely fabulous. It is walking distance to the train station and in the heart of the old city center. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Great breakfast and very clean rooms with all the modern amenities. The owners are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They have operated this hotel for thirty years. They speak several languages, including English. You will not be disappointed staying here!
