Ambiente Hotel Freieck

Fantastic solo room with one of the coolest bathrooms I have had in a hotel room. Really great design. The breakfast is really good and the location is perfect for seeing the old town of Chur. Easy walk from the train station on level streets and sidewalks. It was a very relaxing place, I wish I had stayed for two nights instead of just one. Front desk lady was really warm and friendly. Room was spotless.

The rooms are pretty basic but the bed was extremely comfortable. Good location close to old town and plenty of restaurants. 10 min walk from hotel to train station that’s downhill. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice and all very fresh.

Great spot for a two night stay with the family. The team were very helpful suggesting activities for the kids. The bar downstairs was handy too!

We shared a quadruple room with attached bathroom. Great value for money. The property is old but decently maintained. It is a bit warm in the absence of air conditioning. Great breakfast and great location inside a citadel.

We stayed in this lovely family run hotel between trips on the glacier and Bernia expresses. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the station on largely pedestrianised streets. This hotel has great charm though the furnishings are therefore 'classic'. There is no AC which meant for a warm night in July but not ridiculously so (we were in floor 1). If we stayed in Chur again I would gladly stay here.

This place is a bit of a walk from the train station, our room was quite warm and has no AC but had a floor fan. We had a good view of the mountains, but the rooms are dated and the shower was luke warm at best. Bathroom is updated. The breakfast had a good variety but seemed expensive for what you get.

enjoyed our stay at the Ambience Hotel Freieck. Located in Chur’s Old Town, it occupies a beautiful 16th-century building with a well-done blend of historic architecture and modern conveniences. The rooms are bright and contemporary with nice beds and good Internet. The breakfast in the morning is very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful offering excellent suggestions for dinner. They gave us a Guest Card Chur (Gastekarte Chur) for discounts and free admission for attractions.

The Hotel Freieck is lovely. It really is IN THE HEART OF THE OLD TOWN. ||Sometimes city hotels boast that they are "in the heart of the old town", but upon arrival you find that either the hotel itself was built recently, or the hotel is old but the view from your window is very modern. ||The Hotel Freieck is a sixteenth-century building and is surrounded by other historic properties. You completely forget modern life when you are inside the Freieck. From our window, we had a wondrously sleepy view up the ancient Reichsgasse towards the beautiful Martinskirche.||The Freieck is a ten-minute walk from the Bahnhof, so that you can easily access amazing railway excursions, such as the Arosa line. The journey to Arosa is not as famous as the Bernina Express, but the Arosa line is a most breathtaking ledge railway. Make sure that you sit on the right-hand side when travelling from Chur to Arosa. ||The staff of the Freieck are hospitable and kind. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. Our laundry, which we left at reception each morning during our stay, was returned to our room by evening (I think they guarantee next day at the latest).
