Winter specific review. I would not recommend this in winter. It is a lovely castle with gorgeous gardens. However, the top two floors of the main castle, with the portrait gallery and other collections, shown in the photos, were closed for about two months, as was the courtyard. Additionally, on a beautiful sunny day, as seen in the photos, the entire park was closed. This includes the famous Bacchus Grotto, which is part of the tour. I even asked if the park was still closed due to "storms", when the sky was blue and clear, and the weather forecast predicted no rain nor storm for the next 12 hours. I was so excited for the park in particular, which made this very frustrating. It is a bit unfair to pay full price for tickets when half the exhibits are closed and not accessible, especially during what is apparently peak season.
