I am sorry to write this on my favorite place but l always come this location alone since 2023 cause l moved from CA . Recently l was visiting with my friend after my work cause l work pretty close by this place . The three girls who were at the front door were pretty mean to me didn’t let me go upstairs cause it was 35mins earlier and we came back after they didn’t let our drinks to carry with us eventually there were the people who are holding drinks from outside . So disappointed and still being uncomfortable

The atmosphere was enjoyable and calm. The escalators operated smoothly, and the security personnel offered helpful directions to the theater with a friendly demeanor. Additionally, the salesperson displayed a high level of professionalism.

Haven’t been to this theater in a couple of years but it was great to see some upgrades. Love the new mechanical seats, not sure if it’s in all the theaters but definitely in theater 3 where I was sitting, it felt like the Alamo! Thought there was going to be a waiter coming around :). Great surrounding area as well with B&H, Penn Station and MSG right there and also a cool view of the Empire State building. Staff were also very friendly.

This AMC theater boasts 14 auditoriums, including one dedicated to IMAX shows. The IMAX auditorium exudes a premium ambiance from the outside, promising an immersive viewing experience. The sound and screen quality are commendable, with no letterboxing or pillarboxing on the screen. Moreover, the audio vibrations are palpable, enhancing the overall viewing experience. However, my primary concern with this auditorium lies in its leg pitch. It’s significantly short, barely reaching 25 to 28 inches, which is quite uncomfortable even for a medium-built individual. Consequently, I found myself nearly kicking the person sitting in front of me on several occasions, unintentionally, of course. This seating arrangement undermines the overall comfort of the theater, making it an inferior choice compared to other IMAX theaters.

Seats are not that comfortable. Recline is a bit limited as compared to other theatres. No delivery of food to your chair and they run out of some food items. Sound was awesome though. Will be picking another theatre next time.

Google
Great theatre, staff are very nice, awesome reclining seats but the food was so bad omg. I couldn’t finish it. The slider burgers tasted dosed in rubbing alcohol, the pizza was freezing cool. I can recommend just candy, popcorn, and drinks. The food was horribly bad and expensive. But nonetheless I would come back because I enjoy movies just eat somewhere else.

Google
It was my first time at this theater, very impressive. I really enjoyed the big frames on the wall with classic movies. The seats were amazing, they actually go all the way back which I've never actually been able to experience. They are super comfy, I had to sit up after a while to make sure I didn't fall asleep. The seats also have warmers. I didn't buy food at the theater but everything looked good and fresh, they also have a bar. Friendly and helpful staff, the theater was very clean, the men's restroom as well. They have a water fountain with cold water, everything was awesome.

My son and I enjoy going to the movies and AMC is one of our top choices. The seats are comfortable and relaxing, the sound quality is impressively good. The food menu offers a wide range of options. Furthermore, a selection of beers is available for purchase, with proper identification required. The employees are helpful and courteous.

Yelp
Went to see Lilo & Stitch movie with the kiddies. They had such a wonderful time. They actually stayed up the entire time and dance at the end of the movie. They enjoy their large popcorn and shared with each other. And slush drinks!! Very lovely friendly staff. The drinks where so good!! Shout out to the bartender. Would be back soon.

Yelp
We've been coming to this theatre for about 5 years now - and this weekend was the breaking point: we went to see Thunderbolts in 3d - first the 3d glasses had the lens reversed (you could see 3d image only if you out the glasses upside down)... then firealarm went off - chaos started - nobody knew what is going on, a security just told us to leave the auditorium, but not telling that there is a fire alarm and you need the leave the building caused everyone chatting on the hallway trying to guess what is happening... then good 10 minutes later one of the employees was yelling that everyone needs to leave what is wrong with us standing there... yeah right... if anyone would knew ... Also they promised full refund for the tickets... emailing back and forth all day - Fandango is refusing to give refund, even though we checked with 2 employees before exiting the building that this will be possible online, we don't have to wait there. ... till now i was kind of.. nothing extraordinary but not bad either, but this weekend made me reconsider going to somewhere else from now on.

Yelp
I wrote my original review of AMC 14 nearly six years ago, and since then I've seen a lot of improvements. For starters, most of the theaters now have reclining seats, with the exception of the IMAX screen (more on that in a moment). The place is noticeably cleaner and there are more food options beyond just popcorn and nachos. There are also alcohol drinks now and the dedicated line for AMC A-List Members is a total game-changer when you're seeing a popular movie. *Chef's kiss.* They offer a variety of screen formats: IMAX, Laser, and even movies with subtitles, great for us aging millennials ... or when watching a foreign film. While it's still not quite on the same level as an iPic or Alamo Drafthouse, it's definitely a good place to watch a film.

Yelp
This is my preferred theater as they have quite a few of the latest blockbusters on premium screens and chairs period. The staff is pretty friendly and it's really a nice location, especially since the remodeling during covid. All of the auditoriums have the Deluxe chairs and some of the smaller ones even have little tray tables attached for your food and drinks. On their main floor, there is a bar, full service! Concessions offer regular movie snacks and light bites as well. Be sure to reserve your seats ahead of time to make sure you get the view you'd prefer. Don't make the mistake of sitting in someone else's seat it will not go well, LOL.

Yelp
I have been coming to this AMC as long as I can remember and they changed so much throughout the years with the new chairs. I remember first time coming here, they only had cushioned chairs that were not allowed to recline or sleep in. Good thing they converted the chairs into the reclining red chairs that can go all the way down like an actual bed. They were very long and soft. Most of the red ones that I sat on had a lot of wear and tear though but I still think they were the most comfortable compared to the original standard chairs and the latest ones I just said on a couple of days ago. They now have the black leather ones, which I do not have a fond of. The reclining sucks in this one. There are 4 buttons in total including a heat button option, which does not concern me. I don't really like heat. As I tried to recline the black chair all the way down, it doesn't go down as much as I would like it to. The farthest I got it down was when my pelvis was sinking in the middle with my upper body and legs all up in the air, which was not a nice feeling. I had to not recline in order to feel comfortable. Too bad they removed the red chairs! Those were my favorite! Food was the same old same. Fountain coke tastes so good in AMC! I love the fountain coke here compared to bottle coke. It is very addicting and fortunately you can refill! There are so many refillable machines outside of the movie theater. They got chicken tenders still on the menu and those chicken tenders are really big pieces and can be shareable! Very juicy and not dry at all. I love the nacho chips with the warmed cheese dip. The cheese dip is what make the nachos so tasty! This location is really popular and big. Bathrooms are located on the 2nd floor and they have many stalls in the women's so you don't need to wait in a long line. They got IMAX rooms here too to enjoy the movie even better! Going to catch my next movie in the IMAX!

Yelp
I came here last week to see the new Quiet Place movie. It was refreshing to enter have a nice blast of air conditioning. There are several restaurants in walking distance for you to pick up a meal before or after the movie. I ordered the tickets on the Atom app so I was able to scan and go right upstairs. We had our screening in theater eight. They have a refreshment stand right by the screening. They had several themed drinks for the movie which were nice. I watched the movie in IMAX which was great. Everything is loud and the movie was presented in high quality. We had enough space to stretch your legs. There is a table in front of you to place your food and drinks. The only negative is that the bathrooms are in a separate floor. You have to leave the floor go upstairs and come back down. There is usually a line of people waiting. It would have been easier if everything is on the same floor. Otherwise, this is a quality theater to enjoy a good movie and I will return.

Yelp
Come to this AMC location frequently given the convenient location and easy to get to. Theater re-done a couple of year ago and spacious seating. Reclining and heated seats. Note: Dolby and IMAX not heated and IMAX seats don't recline. The IMAX theater has plush rocker seats. The sound quality is good but a bit too loud. AMC A-Listers can see up to 3 movies a week. Great benefits! Don't forget to visit the concession stand for snacks before the show...get there early. AMC Stubs and up members has its perks...birthday reward and points for concession and regular ticket purchases. They have the gourmet popcorn and other promo offers. Check the AMC mobile app. They also have Express pick-up so you can order ahead. MacGuffins Bar is open for 21+ and over.

Yelp
AMC 34th Street 14 is cozy and comfortable. Seats are slightly adjustable and heated; unfortunately some tray tables have seen better days. Staff is friendly and helpful. Theater is huge; only issue is you may have to go on the elevator or escalator to get to the restrooms on another floor. Sometimes there are Q and A's here with filmmakers. Will report on the IMAX feature here once we attend it. Arrive early as it takes a while to get up to your theater. Enjoy!

Yelp
An easy walk from most train stations, this movie theater has the luxury blackrecliners still. It is very clean inside and has two concession stands.

Yelp
I went to check out the Barbie movie at the 34th St Theater and was annoyed from the time that i arrived. With such a big premiere such as the Barbie movie, you would think they would have had adequate staffing knowing that the movie was sold out everywhere. There were 2 people behind the counter and 1 bartender behind the bar, and lines were so long and moving so slow that I sat down 30 minutes after the movie began. And let's not talk about the big roach/ waterbug running around the counter. So gross!! I won't be back! Ig: @Thefunfluencer

Yelp
Needed to occupy some time before the ball drop. I was going to the movie theater on 42nd St, but it's New Year's Eve and they've blocked off the area. I ended up at the Penn District AMC to see Poor Things with Emma Stone. I had a ticket voucher and needed some help. The staff member assisting me at the kiosk was very friendly and stuck around until completion of my ticket purchase. Choosing my seat, I saw there were only four rows of chairs. I thought it was going to be a tiny, inadequate theater. I was wrong. It's four rows of comfortable, clean reclining chairs, all with a great view of a Big screen. The movie was fantastic. Like Dr. Seuss mixed with Frankenstein, Nightmare before Christmas and some weird and wacky Victorian horror story, but with a satisfying ending. It was a great experience.

Yelp
I visit this AMC location at least once a month. I am a member of the AMC stubs program and within NYC this is one of my favorite theatres. They have an abundance of concessions, as well as a bar. The ICEE machines are almost always working (which is rare) and the Dolby theaters are top notch. As someone who often goes I highly suggest Dolby over IMAX as the seating is more comfortable. Bathrooms could be updated but not horrible.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
Located approximately on 8th ave and 34th street. Very spacious, comfy seats, good vibe. The only downside was that there was no bathroom on that floor where the movie was, had to go up. No big deal. Enjoyed the movie and had a good time.
google avatar

Jessy L.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times to catch a movie, and I can't say that it was a terrible experience. Whenever I come, there's no line, and I'm able to present my pre-paid ticket to the employee upon arrival. I've been spoiled from dine-in theaters, therefore, popcorn, snacks, and chicken tenders do not excite me. I'd rather have access to a full menu with drink options when I go to the movies. This is why I primarily prefer to go to Alamo Drafthouse. AMC does have reclining chairs which is a plus. I'll come here on rare occasions.
google avatar

Cynthia R.

Yelp
It was really expensive. Seats were awful, no leg room at all. Too many escalators.
google avatar

Tamara L.

Yelp
Comfiest chairs! Came today to see Queer and the chairs make the entire experience. Will be back!

Yelp
AMC 34th Street is located close to so many businesses. My daughter and I usually spend the morning shopping then catch a show. After the show it's easy to find a restaurant we can agree on for a early dinner. After living in Manhattan for going on 21 years I really would like to know where my review went! When I started adding reviews I went back to every theater and did a review. I save my ticket stubs. It's been a while since I've been here. I know it's huge. My daughter buys the tickets so we have them in advance. We settle up over the lunch bill. Haha I've never had a negative experience here. If I go I'll get more photos!

Yelp
This is a large AMC with a ton of theaters. The seats in the smaller digital theaters are comfortable and can recline a good amount. The only issue is that the legs don't recline as far as other AMCs. The screens are generally nice, clear and large in all the theaters we went to. Unfortunately the bathrooms are only on one of the top floors so it can be inconvenient to get to.
google avatar

Jessie H.

Yelp
This place is one of the slightly older AMCs but it still has reclining seats (the seats just don't recline all the way compared to like the AMC in kips bay). The floors are also kinda sticky. It is a pretty big theater and you have to go up multiple escalators to get to the theater especially if it is auditoriums 9 and up. The bathrooms are only certain floors. It does get crowded on certain days/nights.

Yelp
I once had a boyfriend who like to pick everything from what I would wear to what I would eat. He brought me here on a date in College to see the premier of Hitch; and I think the only other time I ever came was to see a double feature of the Maze and into the woods. That was YEARS ago. WHY I'm not coming here when it it close to the LIRR, has a view of the Empire State Building and a MCGuffins bar!? Mind blown like absolutely blown. Not only is this the first place that I knew of with assigned seats. THEY ARE HEATED! Yeah you read that right. Like Henney collado, Mamá Mafia tickets for $6 and a glass of water. Stop playing. I'm coming back! A 20 minute ride on the LIRR from my house and in the heart of my very own city. No body better mess this up 5/5. No parking do not drive here. I like a movie with good food options, a bar and heated seats like LOVED!

Yelp
Normally, i do NOT go to this theatre. This and 42nd street movie theater i try my best to stay away from. It's just always too many people and it makes the movie experience too hectic and rushed here. I've also been here too many times as a young teen/ early adult life that this movie theater just doesn't fit into my life anymore lol. I went here because the Spider-Man movie was playing here and i took my nephew to see it. It wasn't a bad experience. They have the reclining chairs, the concessions are still super expensive, lol. The bathrooms are still gross and it's still too many people. But, i enjoyed the movie and so did my nephew so that's all that mattered to me. This theatre is close to everything so if you're looking to get into somethings, this is not a bad idea. But, for me, i like something a bit more lowkey. No pics.. sorry.
google avatar

Jayson C.

Yelp
Over the years we have been to this theater so many times. But I have never written a review for some reason. So here it is. This AMC is by far much smaller than 42nd street. But I think every screening room has heated reclining seats. Pretty large screens and lots of seats in each room. Snack bar on the second floor seems to flow pretty smoothly and now there's a bar. Cool if you drink alcohol. The seats are relatively clean. Almost always. Makes you wonder though when you sit down and there's popcorn on the seat or soda rings in the cup holder. I like this theater though.
google avatar

Patrick K.

Yelp
Staff does not clean the theaters between showings. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.
google avatar

Kuwana L.

Yelp
Plus about this spot is that it's right outside of the train station (down a little further). I had a wonderful time. I hardly go to the city but wanted to see a certain movie. I was asked to go here and agreed and I don't regret it. Upon entering, you get your tickets then head to the person waiting by the escalators. They ask for your vax card and I. D. Once they see that you may proceed. My theater was all the way in the 4th floor. Yes 4th floor lol. When you get the tickets, you already choose your seats so you head to the seats that were chosen. Other than that, nothing else to say about the event. I didn't enjoy the actual movie but that's neither here nor there. I did in fact enjoy the actual theater. Just didn't like that the restroom wasn't on the same floor. Had to go a floor down to restroom. That's all. Thanks again.

Yelp
A broken seat. Seats on top of each other. Feet barely incline. Terrible experience. On W. 34th street NY
google avatar

Christine A.

Yelp
I was disappointed when I went to see Wakanda Forever in so-called IMAX. The screen didn't look much different or bigger than the average movie screen. (Upper West Side IMAX is much more impressive.) The sound was muddy--couldn't make out some of the dialogue. Plus the seats are too close together. Felt like I was rubbing elbows with the guy next to me. Unfortunately, it seems this theater hasn't be renovated in a long time and their IMAX is not worth the $$.

Tie B.

Yelp
This order of curly fries was $6.49. Literally a kids portion. The box used to be filled with my favorite fries. So disappointed AMC.

Nicole F.

Yelp
The staff at this theater is great! The theaters are clean and comfy and who doesn't love heated seats!!!! The soda and condiment areas are cleaner than any other theater which make up for the bathrooms that need some renovations. Great job on the friendly customer service from a frequent guest at this theater!
google avatar

Chuck K.

Yelp
This is arguably my least favorite AMC theater in NYC. Although the screening rooms are nice enough, I've always found the attendees at this spot to be the most disruptive - just unruly and chatty during films. I blame this problem on how close it is to Penn Station. Oh well.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
Not sure if this is a new AMC but it was my first time here. Seats are pre-assigned and they have the comfy reclining seats. It was a very standard movie theater otherwise! Nothing of note.
google avatar

Stella A.

Yelp
On a cold day, there is no heat. I'm glad the seats have heat. But the recliner buttons do not work in theater 3 seat E5.
google avatar

Jada W.

Yelp
they had rats in the theater, ticket prices are very high and they had no wifi overall bad don't recommend
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
I'm giving two stars for having comfortable heated seats. I felt something touching my ankle during the movie so I went to swipe it away, thinking it was a piece of dust. It was in fact not a piece of dust, but a bee. A literal bee, and it stung me in the hand, twice. This whole ordeal was so weird it made it hard to enjoy the movie. I had to get up and wash my hand in the bathroom and try to get the stinger out. I still don't understand why there was a bee in the fourth floor if this indoor movie theater but they should look into that.
google avatar

Gypsy G.

Yelp
I went to this theater to see a movie on Christmas Day and the bathrooms were absolutely FILTHY.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
This was just the previews so chill, but the theatre itself is lovely! I was going to see Top Gun: Maverick in imax! So the only issue I had was as that I did a mobile order. They had signs where it was and I stool there for a good 6 minutes before I realized they weren't paying any attention to us. So we moved to the other location. Meanwhile this woman walks in and is being taken care of before me. Not a big deal because she was in a different location than me .. but I guess she had cash, and that guy was only taking card. So when she moved over and it was my turn I was like.. excuse me I was here first and the server said no you weren't she was.. no sir I was in line at the PICKUP location and you all did NOT do anything to help us. I watched her walk in while I was in line. That disappointed me. The next guy that helped was extremely nice though. I appreciated him.

Yelp
So I had an interesting experience at this theater. My friend and I went on National Cinema Day when movie theater tickets were only $4. We arrived at the movie theater an hour early because we came by train. But we figured that was ok cause we could relax, go to the bathroom , get our soda and candy and make our way to the movie. This AMC has several floors. The woman doorstairs who we asked for assistance because I hadn't been to a movie in a while so I was trying to figure out how to "check in" with my digital ticket was acting like a gatekeeper..She said we couldn't go up to the other floors where the movies and concessions were because they were so crowded cause it was National Cinema Day so they were only letting people go up a half an hour before their shows start. We asked but we need to go to the bathroom. She said NO. So we left and found a bathroom at Five Guys and came back. Then it was about 45 minutes before our show and we tried to sneak up there and the gatekeeping lady stopped us and said do you want me to tell a manager that you are trying to go up early. And I said sure get a manager. So the manager came and he checked us in and let us go up no problem. When we got to the upstairs floors where the theaters, concessions and bathrooms were this crowdedness that woman was talking about was nonexistent. There were not a lot of people there. We bought 2 small drinks and 2 M&Ms and that cost us $27 and change. And they had posters of EVERY movie showing in that theater except the one we were seeing Golda. I looked for the poster cause I wanted to take a picture infront of the poster. I thought that was odd. Also no one checked our tickets. We just walked into the movie. The theater was comfortable. The cup holders and place to put food was great. But the customer service at that place sucked.

Yelp
THIS LOCATION IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION WHILE SOME PARTS ARE STILL OPEN 1. BE ADVISED...THE UP ESCALATOR TO THE 2ND LEVEL WHERE YOU SHOW YOUR TICKETS WORK, BUT IT ISNT WORKING FROM THE SECOND FLOOR TO THE THEATERS... So if you are on crutches, have little ones or can't do stairs... TAKE THE ELEVATOR 2. The 3rd floor concession is under construction. If you want snacks go straight to the 4th floor. 3. The concessions guy was very nice and accommodating. Remember, these guys are working in a partial construction site so give them a break. The IMAX theater was clean. This theater is still worth a visit but just be aware it's not "pretty" and is being renovated, the elevator may be the only reliable way to get to the theaters, concessions is now on 4 (for now) and renovations are expected to go on til late 2020.
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
Does the trick. Homeless people outside and people talked during the movie (can't really blame the theater for that, but maybe it's the type of clientele they attract) but otherwise your standard theater. It is many levels so you have to take a bunch of escalators up and the concessions / restrooms were on a different floor than our theater (go before!). The IMAX seemed small for being an IMAX screen, but I loved the movie I saw (Top Gun: Maverick) so that made up for everything.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Finally saw Black Panther 2 and it was great. Still enjoy going to this theatre I hope it stays open for a while.
google avatar

J. Lawrence N.

Yelp
Dirty, rude, poorly maintained, limited upgraded theaters with uncomfortable seating, filthy bathrooms, disorderly concessions that leave people waiting upwards of 15-2" minutes even when ordering ahead and overall a bad place for a night out at the movies. And those are the good qualities. This is why I'll NEVER come back to this location. Go to AMC 19th/6th or Kip's Bay. This and Times Square are basically slums and cesspools of god knows what.

Rochelle F.

Yelp
The worst movie theatre I have ever been to. We had to tell them the movie. hadn't started. They put the wrong movie on and we had to tell them it was the wrong one. Do not go to this theatre.
google avatar

Gerald R.

Yelp
I haven't been there for a while but that movie theater has changed alot since the movie has the recliners seats I thinking about go to this movie theater next month

Yelp
This is probably the movie theater I frequent the most in NYC. It's centrally located in Midtown, therefore easy to get to and it is not quite as hectic as the AMC Times Square location. I have always enjoyed my experience here. The last few movies I saw here were A Dog's Way Home, Glass, The Upside and Escape Room. On a recent visit, I decided to try to see if I could still redeem my birthday offer from Stub rewards card of free large popcorn and drink. It was supposed to be for the month of December, but I was out of town in an area with no AMC theaters. I let them know about the situation and the person behind the counter allowed me to redeem it over a month late. That was really kind of him to do. I got a mixture of the Cherry + Blue Raspberry icee for my drink and it was soooo tasty! My favorite food to get at the concession stand are the curly fries. Combined with warm cheese sauce (normally used with nachos), it's absolutely delicious! However, the sauce costs more than $1.50 which I think is a little excessive. The popcorn is also quite expensive (though that is to be expected) and there is no small option which I miss. With my stubs rewards card, I can get a free upgrade on popcorn which means I end up with the Large size and even when sharing, it's way too much. The main issue I have with this theater is that the restrooms are on a separate level of all the theaters. So, you have to go back downstairs just to use the restroom. It would be more convenient if there were restrooms on multiple floors. Also, most of the seats do not recline so they are not as comfortable as other places. Service is pretty good. The ticketmasters are really nice and accomodating, as are the folks at the concession stand. I will definitely be back soon!

Julie Ying X.

Yelp
I came here to watch Ghostbusters Afterlife on a Sunday night with a group of 4 people. We saw the movie in the IMAX theater on the top floor. I guess they don't have 3D IMAX movies anymore and they renovated the theater recently. We reserved the seats in advance right in the middle which were great seats. The seats were comfortable and the sound quality was great. The women's restroom downstairs was really gross though. I don't think they clean very often so definitely go to the restroom before the movie but I wouldn't go after.
google avatar

Joan S.

Yelp
The theatre is a great neighborhood theatre for the residents of Chelsea. We lost the 23 Street theatre and I am hoping we can make this one last. The seats revolve, platform settings mean we can all see no matter how far back we are. We go now to get out of the heat but I am surprised that I am enjoying movies on the big screen again.

Yelp
AMC on 34th is my go-to theater. I've been coming to this movie theater way before the movie theaters on 42nd Street opened. The AMC on 34th remain my go to. Why do I prefer it so mich? It's not just the close proximity to 34th Street Penn Station that makes this theater great, it's .... Who am I kidding, it's the fact that it's so darn close to Penn station that makes this movie theater a favorite of mine. It also helps that there a places to eat or drink in the area that make it nice as well. I don't really have much to say that would reduce my rating other then the usuals like, concession areas always packed or the seats could be a bit more comfortable or perhaps the prices are a bit crazy now and days. Alas, it's movie theater and so I guess these minor nunces are all par for the course.

Yelp
I had some time to share with a friend and the show was right around the corner. I used my Stubbs membership to get a great deal on tickets. The movie was in theater 20. As always, AMC was comfortable.

Yelp
This isy favorite AMC theater to go to. I've come to realize that they have the lowest "before 12" prices comapred to other AMCs and Regal. I just go to the theaters to see the movie so I don't really need the reclining seats or fancy food options. Also what can beat the $5 movie Tuesdays?

Yelp
I am absolutely disgusted. I experience a Family of rats walking towards the kitchen. The worker kick them to the side and then continues on into the kitchen in front of me. The rats that follow said worker into the kitchen, and he still comes out in serve me my food after he watches me see him kick them.
