We tried to see Barbie here but were unfortunately unable to due to the theater getting entirely evacuated because the fire alarm went off.
Being evacuated due to a fire alarm is totally fine - I understand the policy.
However, the fact that the fire alarm was going on for approximately 10-15 minutes while we were all in the theater, and not a single employee came to get us??? Imagine if there was actually a fire! We were super confused. Eventually one of the guests went out to check, came back in and he let us all know that we had to evacuate. Finally, an AMC employee came in and told us we had to leave the building so the fire department could come in and check.
We tried to ask him if we'd get a refund but he just yelled in our faces the same instructions. Like he was reading from a script. At the very least, when someone is asking a question just say you can't answer it at the moment.
So, 300 people outside in 90 degrees milling around in front of the theater. Almost no communication from the employees for 30 minutes. Left to get ice cream, still murky about what was going on or if we would be let back in or get refunds. Again, ZERO communication from the employees.
Eventually, a guest yelled to the whole crowd that we wouldn't be getting back in, so we ended up leaving. I would REALLY hate to have been there in the event of an actual fire, the employees are totally not trained to handle that kind of situation.
Also, the seats and theater were filthy. Will stick to AMC Universal next time.
Update: we reached out to AMC via twitter and they offered us free movie vouchers, drink vouchers, and snack vouchers to make up for it. Do not appreciate the service at this particular theater but glad that AMC as a company was able to make it right.
