It’s a pretty standard AMC that’s easy to navigate despite having a few floors. It’s pretty clean and smells alright but it’s a bit dated. Picture and sound quality were pretty good (Aud 10), seats look to have been recently refurbished and are comfy.

The seats are very comfortable. The staff are very nice and friendly. The floors and carpets are spotless. The escalators are very clean. The bathrooms however, smell like a homeless person has been in there for so long, but it is clean. The water pressure is too much. Splashes water everywhere. They need to also get paper towels in the bathroom. Not many people (including myself) like to put their hands in the hand dryer. It’s not comfortable. Overall I recommend. Like a 7.5/10. Just be careful

We love our local movie theater! I recently turned 50 years old and was so excited to watch Jaws 50th anniversary, but I accidentally purchased the wrong time online so I called AMC Kips Bay for help. Chloe picked up the phone and asked me to come in. Karen was so very sweet at the front and guided me towards Nicole who fixed my problem right away. I came back with my whole family the next day. Valeria greeted us downstairs and showed us which way to go. We had a great time at the movies, thanks to all you amazing ladies for your help!!! ❤️✨

I’ve been to this theater dozens of times. Always been pleasant. The seats are great, large and reclining. The concessions are nice. Good popcorn and easy and extensive drink selection. The staff is always pleasant. Managers are responsive and helpful except one that I don’t see anymore. Perfect for kids, young and younger. One of the best movie experiences in Manhattan.

Overall, AMC Kips Bay 15 is a decent theater, but a few issues made the experience less enjoyable. The snack bar has a very limited selection — many popular items just weren’t available. The soda machines were even more disappointing: there were no sugar-free options like Coke Zero or Fanta Zero. The only low-calorie drinks available tasted overly artificial and chemical-like. One of the machines was also malfunctioning — when trying to pour a drink, it sprayed guests with soda. That’s really unacceptable given the price of the movie experience. In the restroom, there were no paper towels, which, while minor, still adds to the overall impression. On the bright side, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, which helped offset some of the negative points. Hopefully, management takes note and improves these service aspects to better match customer expectations.

Avoid this amc if you can! Purchased 2 tickets to see the pre-screening of the F1 film in IMAX. It wasn't until we arrived to the movie, AFTER our tickets were scanned that they informed us not only was the movie NOT in IMAX but also seating was first come first serve (when we reserved specific seating) and pushed back to a start time of 10:35pm to 10:50pm. They clearly moved us to an uncleaned movie theatre - trash and popcorn everywhere. I sat in a sticky seat and the recliner didn't work. Bathrooms were dirty and out of toilet paper and paper towels. I understand the A/C was out and that's something you can't plan for but there were many ways to inform your customers. Either a heads up PRIOR to arriving, a notification through the app or email, or even clearer communication upon arriving. It was a total waste of money and time. People in the theatre complained and the whole experience was a 0/10. Glad the movie itself was enjoyable but unfortunately a huge let down from the Amc Kips Bay - staff, facilities, and experience could've been better. To top it off I did reach out about my negative experience and have yet to hear back! Interesting to read other reviews from the same day talk about receiving free concessions as well.

How are they going to pay me for doing their job of selling tickets to myself??? Self-service is a rude abomination.

Google
This is a great movie theater with spacious auditoriums and comfortable vegan leather seats. At 5'10", I found the seating very accommodating. They offer a good selection of food options. I tried the sliders and curly fries, which were delicious. They also have canned Chardonnay wine, which isn't the best, but it's nice to have the option for alcohol. And of course, the popcorn is a must!

Yelp
I like the AMC at Kips Bay, it gets the job done as far as movie theaters go. Ticket check is at the end of the lobby when you walk in, then you have to go either up or down one level for your theater. The main concession stand is on the upper level. There's a smaller one on the bottom level, but it has limited hours, so there are times you might have to go upstairs for snacks, then down to the lower level for your movie. Theaters are clean and well maintained, I've never noticed any glaring issues with my seats or the screens. Like most (all?) AMCs, they have recliners that you reserve when you buy your ticket. Much nicer than the old stadium seating.

Yelp
Some theater rooms might be cleaner than others. A lil outdated but staff is always friendly

Yelp
I really like this theater. Staff were nice, location was clean and food was good. I really enjoy how nice and comfortable the seats are as well. It's a bit of a walk from the train, but def worth it

Yelp
The staff are so nice and friendly. Went out of their way to get me bandaids for my blister! So kind of them! Also shout out to Matthew for being so helpful! He needs a raise!

Yelp
This theater has been renovated with the big recliner seats and lots of leg room - much more comfortable. To do this, they sacrificed a lot of the seating capacity, so now many auditoriums have very few seats. The screens are decent sizes, but only few are large, and not as large as I would prefer. Even the IMAX screen seems smaller than others in town.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Nice movie theater in midtown Manhattan with theaters on the 2nd floor and in the basement. The theater was on the small side (only about 7 rows of recliners) but was very comfortable and pretty clean - although the theater staff need to clean in the crevices of the recliners which can accumulate garbage. If you're booking in one of the smaller theaters, then I definitely recommend sitting in the middle of the second to last row.

Yelp
The AMC at Kips Bay provided a great experience. I had not been to the movies in several years until recently seeing a film at the Film Forum and now seeing Bonhoeffer at Kips Bay AMC. Purchasing a ticket was easy online and the diagram properly illustrated the seating. I like that one purchases a ticket here for a particular seat as opposed to general admission. That is a positive development at the movie houses or at least at AMC theaters. Seat selection can greatly enhance your experience and was novel to me, having not been to the movie houses in a long while. I did not buy anything at concessions, but it appears the popcorn and soda game has been changed to a self service model. Someone would have to correct me if my eyes deceived me. In any case, buckets of popcorn and large sodas were what I saw today. The most impressive aspects were the lounge or recliner seating as well as the audio visual clarity and quality. They even have the seatback and headrest angles dialed in with the leg rest in the recliner position, all of it adjusts from inside the right armrest. Had to locate that in the dark. The mens bathroom upstairs was clean, but I can imagine it filling up for the evening shows during prime time. Not all the motion sensors work for the water and soap, but that too is rather common in public restrooms. Ticket and concession prices are still a thing for me, but no one seems to complain. It was a good experience overall and warrants four stars.

Yelp
this is the main AMC theater that I go to and it is my favorite location throughout all of nyc. The staff is friendly and the theaters are always super clean when I go see a movie. I've only ever experienced one time whenever recliner was not working, but even so it wasn't a big deal because the seed itself is very comfortable. The concession stand lines also move pretty fast and their soda machines always have whatever drink is available. Nothing is ever out of stock.

Yelp
Recently visited this Kips Bay AMC for an IMAX screening of Ne Zha 2 and was impressed at how spacious, quiet, and clean the theater was. The seats in the IMAX theater were plushy but didn't recline (which is what I would've preferred) but it was still a very comfortable experience. The screen and sound quality was very immersive and I would 100% come back to this particular IMAX theater for another movie screening. The only downside was that the restrooms had very sticky floors but I don't think it took away too much from the viewing. Overall, a solid spot for a movie!

Yelp
MOVIES ARE BACK! bow to Barbenheimer! fairly large movie theater for NYC. relatively clean and well-maintained. variety of theaters from large to small to an IMAX screen. most theaters are upstairs above street level. seats are the comfy reclining ones. overall this is a solid theater to watch summer blockbusters as well as awards favorites. this AMC typically gets a good selection of films beyond the big feature releases. because it's in a residential neighborhood, the theater does get crowded but alas that is New York City. have seen a handful of movies here in 2023. do yourself a favor and download the AMC to buy your tickets and select your seats in advance.
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
One of my favorites of all of the AMC's in the city. It is always feels low key and not packed and although some of the screens are smaller, they also have some larger theaters, including an IMAX. All seats are new and recline. A good mix of blockbusters and smaller independent films. A very civilized experience.
google avatar

Seema Z.

Yelp
Clean theatre. But usually understaffed at concessions. That said it's less crowded. Has imax and smaller screens too. Sound could be improved
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Solid movie theatre experience. Never super crowded with an audience which tends behave properly. 15 screens so smaller than others but large enough. The IMAX screen is a top notch experience but at the end of the day, it's on the Individual movie. For those who like to "hop", this theater is a little difficult to achieve that as screens 1-10 are above (up escalator) and 11-15 require another Down escalator separated by the main floor. Also noticed they have less payment kiosks than other AMCs. A little painful to get to by subway as this is on 2nd Ave and closest station is the local 6 stop at 33rd.
google avatar

Eve S.

Yelp
This is the best AMC in NYC. Has the full back recliners, big bathrooms and array of movies/times. I've gone here for years. They have booze options now at concessions too. You can stop at Trader Joe's on the walk back home to the train. I recommend as an A-lister who has been to a lot of AMC's.

Yelp
AMC Kips Bay 15 is the multiplex I frequent the most especially on Tuesdays. This is the magic day as I have a Stub card which allows me to see any show at any time for the princely sum of $7. Several years before the pandemic the Tuesday special cost $5 which then slowly inched up to $6 and now $7. It's still a steal. Seating is roomy with reclining seats for leg comfort and a tiny tray for snacks and drinks. These days it's never crowded like the movie I saw last week "The Taste of Things" where I was one of three patrons. Buying snacks is expensive so I usually bring my own but last week I got a hot dog which was tasty. The ladies restrooms are clean and I've never had to wait in line during the matinee shows. I have found the service to be kind as whenever the machine doesn't work properly there is someone to assist me.
google avatar

Lana L.

Yelp
Convenient, clean, well maintained theater with a huge lobby and comfortable recliner seats. Almost never gets too crowded unlike other theaters in more central locations. I rarely ever have to wait in line. Staff is always nice.

Yelp
Came on a solo date on a Monday night to watch a movie and my showtime was at 10:45. I arrived about 10 minutes late for personal reasons, so I had a bit of a problem purchasing my ticket on the kiosk. Although it took a bit long someone eventually was able to help as I only had cash and apparently their registers were already closed? I work in the food service industry which is why I usually carry cash as opposed to depositing in a card as I sometimes do not have the time to do so directly after work. Anyway, we get past that. When trying to purchase popcorn and a soda, I was turned down, again because they were not taking cash orders. Popcorn and cup were already handed to me so besides the fact that people were still in the theatre at the time I found it odd and a bit backwards that someone is not able to purchase snacks and a beverage while a movie is still running. Anyway, had to literally hand the popcorn and cup back. Disappointed but still trying to be understanding, I just went into my movie, thirsty AF btw. THE CHERRRYYYY ONTOPPPPPP, and this is where I was flabbergasteddddd... mid movie I'm hearing a bunch of scurrying and squeaks. For about an hour.. yes, a f****** hourrrr I cannot focus on the movie because of these noises and I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt .. are these mice? Naaaa can't be. Must be the movie or someone behind me. At one point I literally flashed my light to find that nobody was sitting behind me so now I'm confused. Still not wanting to believe what I'm hearing, I decide to look up reviews on this place and see if anyone mentions rodents... yall when I tell you that there were sooo many reviews about it and even one with a photo of sooo many mouse traps behind the seats I'm like noooo way. I once again flash my phone behind the seats and lo and behold there are about 5 godforsaken f****** miceeeeeee behind my seat. I literally leaped up and ran out mid movie, told someone who was cleaning as now the theatre is pretty much empty since it was midnight by now. They literally respond to me telling them there are mice running around the seats by saying "oh ok" Before I left, I found what looked to be a security guard who offered me a free pass ticket since a refund was not an option (again, due to registers and kiosks being closed) I don't usually go to the theatre but I read the book to the movie I saw and was super excited to watch it but this was literally insane and being that this has been a problem for what looks like to be yearssss due to the reviews, it's kind of wild that this issue has not been fixed. I work in a full blown restaurant and we do not have these issues so I'm assuming they literally don't care to clean this place or idk burn it down at this point cus what in the entire world.. Yea don't go here. It's bad. And now I'm traumatized.

Yelp
One of the best AMC theatres in Manhattan. Very clean and the seats are great. My go to theatre to bring my son for some movies
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite theater to go to in the city. I live in the Bronx and I will travel to the city just to experience a film at this AMC location. The staff is nice and friendly. The theater is always clean and I love the layout of the theater as well.
google avatar

L J.

Yelp
Not the best... I prefer the Lincoln Square AMC. I have seen around 4 or so movies at this AMC.
google avatar

Ivan H.

Yelp
A fantastic AMC location, I say the best in the city for cleanliness and quiet. There are lots of showtimes, the staff here are great, and I have yet to have a bad experience here. The seats are all recliners which is really nice, I make the trip from Brooklyn all the time just to come here even though it is out of the way transit wise. Only fault - the IMAX here is nothing to write home about and that's putting it nicely.
google avatar

Rodney T.

Yelp
From what I have been reading one of the best places to watch an IMAX movie, and I can attest that it is a wonderful experience. The sound is good the projection is enormous.
google avatar

Chuck K.

Yelp
Although this isn't the most convenient theater to get to, if you are on the east side of Manhattan, this is a great place to watch a movie. Recliner seats are standard and I love the smaller screening rooms. If you want to watch a standard screening of a film, this is the AMC to go to.
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Fairly good theater. I like how there is easy street parking, access to citibikes, but the distance to the subway is a pain. Seats are easy to reserve as they are never super busy, so it's nice to catch a movie last minute here. The theaters are kept clean, have the newer recliners and floor/seats are never sticky or gross. The concessions are hit or miss, I've ordered online and sometimes they bring it to your seat during the movie but other times they make you pick it up on the 2nd floor. I wish they'd be more clear about how that works as there are concessions on the 2nd floor and basement.
google avatar

Morlene C.

Yelp
I quite enjoy this theater, as it was one of the first to offer reserved seating in plush, red, reclining leather seats and has remained one of the cleanest and quietest theaters in the city to date. It's not sticky like a lot of other theaters and you can usually get a seat on short notice, particularly past opening weekend. The IMAX here is a pleasant experience with great sound and pretty much good views from every row (except the first, never take the first row). I can't speak to the snacks as I'm not much of a snacker, but I note that the line moves pretty quickly.
google avatar

T. D.

Yelp
How do you have an entire theater with NO pre-movie seating??? Just really annoying. Don't arrive any time before your movie.

Yelp
AMC A-list member reviewing various AMCs throughout the country. I lived above this theater for 7 years so we have no choice but to stan - I haven't been in a hot minute though. Seats: Vary based on individual theater but reclining in general. Some may have USB ports. Not heated. Screens: No complaints! Macguffins: No, due to NYC regulations (I believe the only Manhattan Macguffins location is the 19th east village one but don't quote me on that.) Food: Fine, good for NYC standards. My fav AMC pizza was good but not great. Bathrooms: usually dirty. Nicole Kidman AMC ad: yes! Crowd: Not in or near a mall so fewer rowdy teens, but I have experienced some badly behaved parents (like the people who brought a 2 year old to a midnight screening on Avengers: Infinity War). Parking: Street parking sitch is probably better than most NYC AMCs but limited based on time and day of the week. A few blocks from the 6 train and very close to the M-15. Overall: 4/5. Great memories at this one, and its quieter than other Manhattan locations. Cool retro movie art on the building and inside. AMC tested out a VR theater concept in the lobby for a few years but it didn't take off. They do let those annoying Clean Energy scam people sit in the lobby. There are usually very few employees but the ones there are nice. I am only rating a 4/5 despite my affection for this theater because they managed to severely screw up midnight screenings for the premier of all three sequel trilogy Star Wars films. The first time around they allowed an accounting firm to rent out a bunch of theaters that were already booked, made everyone wait a few hours (???) past their ticketed times, started the movie, and then stopped it 15 mins in as they had forgotten to bring in half of the aforementioned ticketed viewers. Second time around we were seated at the correct time but the showing was delayed by several hours for no apparent reason. They did give us a few refund vouchers. Third time the movie started somewhat late (again!) and it was a 3D showing and they didn't input the 3D correctly so it was impossible to watch and a bunch of us had to go out and ask for it to be fixed which took quite some time. I'm mostly venting here, but I wouldn't go to this location for a big midnight premier. Otherwise, please attend and keep this great location alive. Seriously, there are some developers that wanted to tear this theater down. Secret tip: visit Hill&Bay across the street for cocktails themed to whatever big movie is playing that month.

Yelp
I am an AMC A list member so I have watched movies at many AMC theaters. This is one of my favorites. I was in theater 3 and although it was small, it was a great experience. The thing I liked best was how the rows were built. Each row places you far above the other so no matter how tall the person in front of you is there is no way they block your view. I also like the reclining chairs. Watching the movie was so immersive. The only negative was the amount of popcorn on the floor.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Ok so I'm definitely going to confess to being hard to please since my AMC stubs whatever was not working. The movie was about to start and the two young ppl working in the front were probably doing their best. I was trying not to be impatient but I'm sure I looked it-when I stormed off to the kiosk and purchased the tickets myself. Then inside my seat was not working. I looked behind and there was a plug but why risk some accident. Why miss the movie to get someone to fix the recliner. It was Theater 12 seat E12. The concession stand on our floor was closed. The movie being good was the only consolation but they have no control over that. The young black woman accepting tickets in the front had good customer service she tried to help. Her capabilities were limited and the other person was preoccupied with underage teens trying to sneak into rated R movies on his walkie talkie. It's cool I don't live close by so I won't have a reason to return.

Mary T.

Yelp
Horrible understaffed concessions. I felt like there were very few people and the few that were there had no clue what was going on. Overall the theater is semi-clean, but really disappointing service. We'll go somewhere else or just wait to watch at home next time. Folks who are top members and folks with online orders were waiting as well. I missed the beginning of my movie and I got there 20 minutes early. Disaster.
google avatar

Katie A.

Yelp
theater is very clean, spacious with reclining chairs. $5 tuesdays are a steal! I go here whenever I can since I live close by. Popcorn is a bit cold but eh, no expectations there haha
google avatar

Aleena A.

Yelp
Just saw a movie here the other night. The tickets were around $21 on Fandango and I have paid more for tickets in Queens at a Regal Theater and another AMC. I watch movies alot and for 3 hours I was so comfortable, because the theater is staggered with space in front of you so you don't have to worry about someone tall sitting in front of you, or people getting up from their seat and you having to crunch up. Very clean theater, lots of auditoriums and full service snacks.

Barry V.

Yelp
hi i live kips bay amc its the best amc and cleanest! the staff is superb and deserve raises!!! Heaven & IB definitely are Allstars and should be considered for promotion they have the upheld all company policies and are very welcoming and pleasant Keep your employeees happy and the public will be happier

Yelp
Welcome back to the movies!!!! It felt good to be back in the theater after a whole year of being shutdown. I headed out to see Godzilla vs King Kong and the movie was awesome. I caught an early showing and tickets are 30% off everyday before 5pm. It's exactly how I wanted to spend this rainy day. They also have a rewards program with discounted tickets on Tuesdays and other perks. The movie was showing in the IMAX theater which is really nice. The steps are lighted with the letter of the aisle brightly lit making it easy to find your seat. I love the social distancing of the seats. I was the only person in my aisle. It wasn't more than 20 people in the theater if that and I realized i really enjoy not being crammed together next to people. I know theaters will eventually go back to full capacity but I really like the spacing between the rows and seats. The theater appeared to be very clean. I would hope that they are sanitizing between viewings. The website says they are but I can't say if they are or not. I did find a receipt wedged down on the side of my seat. No big deal, I had my own sanitizing wipes with me. Seats are leather, very comfortable, and plush. Upon entering there's 1 ticketing agent at a booth confirming tickets. I would suggest purchasing tickets online before hand because seats sell out quick due to the limited seating. There's no box office or anyone selling tickets, but I did see 1 kiosk but I'm not sure if you could purchase tickets from it. I didn't need to print anything out as the ticketing agent enters your confirmation number into a scanner. You chose your seats and concessions online which is so quick and convenient. I initially didn't order any concessions online but I decided to get some popcorn and a frozen cherry slush on arrival. There was no line but they have a separate area for drinks which was a little annoying. I got the popcorn and had to take the receipt over to another counter in another area. It was annoying because there was something wrong with the ice machine which held up the line for almost 10 minutes. I still got to my seat on time to watch the previews. Looking forward to the movie Cruella based on the character Cruella De Vil from The Hundred and One Dalmatians. The trailer was so good. I enjoyed a day out today by myself at the movies and it was great. Looking forward to more days like today. Oh! And I love King Kong but I'm #teamGodzilla for the win.

Ally H.

Yelp
This AMC is not well kept. Popcorn all over the floor and seats. Seats' fabric is ripped. Save yourself the trip and go to the Flatiron AMC - it's MUCH nicer.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
I live two blocks from the AMC Kips Bay 15 and it's been my go to local theater for years despite the fact that I really wasn't crazy about it. It wasn't particularly clean and the movie choices were always predictable. Well something wonderful happened during the pandemic. A year ago we started to go back on Tuesdays when AMC Stubs members had discounts. It was like night and day. The theaters are close to immaculately clean. The attendants are helpful and friendly and fun to chat with. And the icing on the cake is that foreign films and "art house" films are now part of the regular programming. It never occurred to me to write about a movie theater on Yelp but I'm delighted to have the opportunity to sing this theater's praises!!!
google avatar

Kitty Y.

Yelp
Even though it's a bit of a walk from the nearest train, it's still a great theater. I love coming here because of the recliner seats. Because it is a pretty big theater, they show a lot more movies than the one around St. Marks. There are 3 floors, the ground floor being the entrance and where you buy the tickets. I rarely get to go downstairs to watch a movie so I can really only talk about the upstairs floor. You can purchase snacks upstairs and as a premiere member, you can wait on the shorter premiere line. The soda machines are to the side and the bathrooms are on the other side of the main part. There are theaters on either side of the main part. The hallway on the right has an extra set of bathrooms all the way at the end. This is convenient for people who are watching a movie down there and don't want to waste time walking down the hallway to the bathroom. Each theater has the red reclining seats which are super comfy. The front row is still not the best place to sit but it's a bit more bearable in those seats since they recline. Overall, I would suggest coming to this theater for a great movie experience.

Yamna A.

Yelp
Staff is really nice here. My date accidentally got tickets for the wrong theater and they helped us out and were super duper nice about it. Theater is also pretty clean and big. But the biggest thing for me is that the staff is nice. :)

Yelp
Solid movie theater with reclining seats! Located off the 33rd stop from the 6 train- about a 10 min walk. It's on 2nd ave so a couple more aves from the train station. The movie theater is pretty big, they're checking for vaccination records so bring your excelsior pass, actual vaccine card, nyc covid app, etc. They got my wild cherry slushie but I always check beforehand because you can get the Icee (but it's just the cup and then you gotta go to the machine to pour it.....imagine the disappointment if you get a cup and they dont have the flavor you like lol) Reclining seats are great but not sure how clean it is, felt a bit sticky when I was lying there (not sure if it was my sweat or just dirty). I'd prob bring some baby wipes to wipe it or a napkin, etc. I've been to this theater pre and post covid. I would still come back, very spacious and not too crowded esp compared to times square AMC and Upper west side AMC.

Villanelle D.

Yelp
Seating ok but not ideal for people in larger bodies. Arm rests are not painful but buttons are in bad position, meaning that you may have to restrict your body so as not to press them the whole time. Service was poor. Barely anyone serving concessions. Two lines - one for members and one for non-members - and one server for each. When worker serving non-members walked away for at least 10 minutes, the other worker refused to serve non-members and instead took people from the members line who had just arrived.
google avatar

Andy K.

Yelp
Just saw Top Gun: Maverick in IMAX here. Terrible viewing especially for $55 for two tickets. First, for the image IMAX, you're sitting insanely far away to get the full benefit of the larger projection. You will not notice a bit of difference between this image and any other theater. If you want the real IMAX experience go to Lincoln Square. Last, and the most irritatingly was the audio. The treble speakers are cranked way high and the mid-range is practically non existent. If you're seeing a blockbuster with a Hans Zimmer sound production, you may as well put it on a cassette Walkman. It will sound better than this theater. Go to Alamo Drafthouse. Smaller screen, but perfect and rich audio.

Yelp
We've now been here a few times in the last week. And it fast becoming one of my favorite AMC theaters in NYC, along with AMC in the east village. ANC Empire, AMC Lincoln Square and AMC Lowe's 34th were my favorite three. But the seats are old and uncomfortable at all three with very few update theaters with recliners. And the killed the good snacks offered at Lincoln Center I'd still consider Lowe's 34th. Great location. But if I can avoid going back to 42nd Street, I will, unless absolutely necessary like for the Sound of Music in two weeks. This a great theater with new, recliner seats.

Yelp
Love the AMC in east village a liiiitle more than Kips Bay because it's slightly less busy on peak nights. Overall: omg comfiest theater ever. I always search on Yelp for a movie and if it's not playing at an AMC with the comfy leather recliner chairs - I skip the movie and don't see it because I don't enjoy movies not at an AMC. AMC for life. But obviously be sure to purchase your candy at a bodega beforehand. There's a grocery store attached to this building so it's easy peasy. Also, very limited long lines at this AMC location! They have a self check-in kiosk (two of them) and it makes it super convenient to get in fast to purchase your ticket. Never had a problem using Movie Pass here or any AMC location. I'm such a fan. Love AMC and it's super clean and I love how it smells. Put my face under that butter dispenser a few years ago and got in trouble but hey, life goes on.

Yelp
Shocking, that they charge almost 20 dollars for a movie on a screen with large rips. Sounds I'll check to see if they give me a discount. We will see.

Yelp
Watched Frozen 2 here at theater 3 and it's only a small screen but still, the seats were pretty comfy! It was my first time actually watching a movie in New York City and it was at the AMC Kips Bay. Before the movie, we had ordered a large popcorn which tasted pretty nice since we almost literally ate all of it. The bathrooms were also super clean but yes it's a little outdated but at least it's clean. Wouldn't mind watching movies here and you also get points if you are an AMC member. Sign up for it and you can also buy tickets online and it saves your seat for any movie that you purchased.

Yelp
This theater is off the beaten path sort to speak compared to the AMC on 34th Street or 42nd Street. Of course it gets crowded it's NYC, but it's a great they're that's usually less crowded. I last came here to watch Star Wars after it was a couple of weeks stale to avoid the rush. I haven't been here in very long time and I was satisfied. I used a gift card and purchase my tickets at the kiosk the IMAX theater wasn't crowded at all , the sound quality was superb. I must complain about the traditional concessions...I'm spoiled on theaters with food weather it be a burger , a quesadilla, and of course beer. You get your regular popcorn, nachos, candy, and hot dogs. Also when I bought my ticket no one was there to check it I wonder if there's an honor system or if it was a very slow Sunday in the middle of the day. There's some positive highlights such as a VR setup in the main lobby it appeared to be some type of game you can inulge and the accompanying seats looked comfortable very comfortable! This is my go theater as a driver because I can usall get parking on the street and it's clean and not typically crowded.

Yelp
One of my favorite movie theatres in the city! The entire place was renovated with comfortable reclining leather seats which may make you fall asleep easily. I absolutely love how there is a wall/divider between each row so you can't see the person's head in front of you. There are five theatres in the basement and the rest are upstairs. The theatre in the basement seemed small when I was buying the ticket (I was in theatre 12) and it has only five rows. But it's actually a pretty decent size due to all reclining seats and the wall in between row. The location is a bit off as the closest subway is the 6 train on Lexington Ave. I think that's why it's not as crowded as some other ones (say Time Square). It is great if you want a quiet place to enjoy the movies.

Yelp
I don't even know why this theater doesn't have 5 stars... this is few blocks from my place and few blocks away from ice cream parlor. I go to AMC and regal Times Square and trust me this the the best of all. I have been to Astoria movie theater and one on upper west side and this AMC on 2nd Avenue is the best one. The one next to Times Square AMC has bed bugs not kidding they attacked me twice and the 2nd time was so severe that the swelling all over my legs and thighs lasted for 2 full weeks. I haven't gone since than. Next time I get attacked I will put the pictures. This one is clean and is peaceful and not crowded.
