I love this theatre, there’s nice lounging areas inside on every floor and in the front courtyard. As well as a bar and dining space. There’s no reclining seats unfortunately but they do have a couple XL screens, AMC laser, and 3D. Very clean and cute

This is a very nice theater in a shopping plaza with food and other places as well as residences. The parking is only two dollars if you go to the theater and you can pay at the kiosk before you go to the parking lot or after you get to the car. The theater will validate your parking for three hours for $2 When it would normally be $14. There’s a great selection of movies and it has many theaters and the seats are comfortable. However, I don’t personally like the carpet because they smell after a while even though this is a relatively new theater and the seats can also smell when they’re not able to be easily cleaned because they’re also cloth. The seating arrangement was also difficult because there are no labels for letters and only really have mostly numbers in the seating area so you have to look up the seating arrangement online to see where you’re supposed to be sitting. The roses have numbers on the seats, but they don’t have letters on the rows which is part of the assignment when you get seats. But if it’s not very crowded, I don’t think it really matters. There’s plenty of bathrooms and there are kept well and there are also Individual bathrooms.

Bigger than you think and very clean theater. The new Mission Impossible movie was great here! I’ve never looked into this location, cute spot.

First time visiting this movie theater 🎭 and I was pleasantly surprised. Pros: pricing is better than AMC theaters in the Downtown Chicago area. Variety of food options (pizza, vegan nuggets, macaroni bites, etc), and 2.00 parking for up to three hours with validation from theater. Cons: food is your standard frozen food thrown into a microwave or toaster oven. Popcorn is “okay.” Honestly, I’d recommend eating elsewhere. Seats are not recliners, and it wasn’t easy for us to find our seats due to poor & confusing signage. I will definitely return because it’s a small and well kept spaces. Just for reference I ordered vegan nuggets, Mac and cheese bites, and a kids meal with popcorn, a drink, and candy. My total was 59.00, not counting parking.

Google
The theater validates parking up to 3 hours. Service is quick and easy. The seats are NOT the big electric sofa style recliners but they are really comfy. The sound was a bit too loud for my comfort but no one else around me seemed to mind.

Google
I do like this theater. It has comfortable seats and a good snack selection. However; tonight we bought tickets for a 7pm movie and without notification (no email, text, etc) they moved the movie time up to 6:15pm. We had to sit and wait for the next one which was an hour & a half later. The staff is friendly & accommodating but be warned that this happens sometimes at this theater. Not cool,

Google
Haven't even seen the movie yet but had an excellent interaction with Lou at the ticket desk around my t-shirt (Woo Rochester) which reminded me of why I bother going out to theaters in the first place. Well done.

La Barbie

Google
I went to this cinema to see the new Stitch movie I loved the movie the cinema very nice I enjoyed it tried definitely I will see more movies again

Yelp
It's fine. I live so close that this is the most convenient theater but overall, they're small theaters with regular seats. They have plenty of showtimes. I love my popcorn and self-serve butter plus the good 'ol ICEE but the self-serve area is a bit messy and sticky. It could definitely use more regular upkeep throughout the day.

Yelp
This is my go-to theater whenever I'm in Chicago. It's conveniently located a short walk from the North and Clybourn L stop. I recently came here to see Wicked and was satisfied with how well-kept and clean the theater is. The staff is friendly at the ticket check-in and at the concession counter. The theater has ranging room sizes depending on the movie and showtime you choose. For a standard movie experience, this is definitely the place to go. While the seats don't recline like some in newer theaters, as long as you choose the right seat, it shouldn't be an issue for an enjoyable view. Ticket prices are a bit higher compared to other theaters, but they offer discounted tickets on certain days of the week. You can also join their AMC Stubs membership to get additional perks.

Yelp
This movie theater is fine but if you are hard of hearing and/or deaf and require closed captioning for any reason do NOT GO HERE. I tried to see Wicked today and the captioning didn't work and the staff told me that the building itself has bad connectivity and they've been having issues with their network. They couldn't get it to work and they couldn't guarantee that the captions for next showing would work either. If that's the case then WHY does your website say the movies at this location are captioned??? Either fix the network issues or accept that the building isn't designed for it and don't advertise captioning. And then when we needed a refund they wouldn't give us a full refund because we paid a convenience fee for the credit card transaction - that is stealing. This AMC location STOLE from us. I lost $10 in this experience.

Yelp
Kind of disappointed this location doesn't serve dinner. 20$ movie tickets and no real food is a bummer.

Yelp
I really like this AMC! It's close to the city but avoids the terrible traffic and crowds from downtown. It also has parking that gets validated! Every time I've been there have been decent crowds but definitely not rowdy like the ones near The Loop. Their theater rooms could use an upgrade, but it's a decent movie theater.

Yelp
We went to see the new Jennifer Lopez movie Unstoppable that was playing at the Chicago Film Festival. I usually go to the movies in the suburbs so this was my time at this location. The Chi Film Fest staff were helpful and friendly. We were able to enter (scan tickets) with ease and buy snacks. We bought popcorn, soda and twizzlers. There was only one other person in line so it was quick. I went to the restroom before the movie started and was pleased to find it very clean. The movie wasn't sold out so there were plenty of seats. The chairs are a bit worn but they are huge and comfortable. The temperature was perfect and there weren't any issues with the picture or sound of the movie. Overall, the experience turned out to be pleasant. I'd visit this theatre again if the opportunity presented itself.

Yelp
The seats are very uncomfortable and hard to sit in for hours. I feel bad for the people at the food court because you could tell they were understaffed and due to that the food would take forever to come out. Overall, could be improved.

Yelp
Located near North Avenue, this clean theater hosted a preview of Rebel Moon. The movie with a multi-ethnic cast had good action, cgi, and explosions. There were a few inconsistencies, surprise betrayal, and shirtless guys. The shining stars are at least three actresses who are accomplished warriors. The slow-motion camera accentuated the action shots. This was not an epic film but a film with potential. Let's see what part 2 holds from netflix.

Yelp
Great place to catch a flick! Good validated parking by the Mariano's. Good concession stand and attached bar for adult beverages if you want. My go-to movie theater for sure. Seen a lot of movies here over the years. Was so happy when they opened up again post-covid.

Yelp
Thought I would give this spot another try and nope it's gotten worse folks...The theaters are even hotter than before with zero central air being turned on during film, dirty bathrooms, staffing issues aka 3 people working the entire theater, sound turned down low...Overall the worst theater going experience ever. Just close down already and do the city of Chicago a huge favor. Or better yet go visit the new Alamo drafthouse movie theater and see how a movie is supposed to be shown and with the magic of central air conditioning...lol I will never be back to AMC Newcity again.
google avatar

G K.

Yelp
Garbage experience, seats uncomfortable for a 2 hour 40 minute movie. Parking at New City is scummy. Validated parking is $2 for first 3 hours but if you go one minute over, it ends up being $12. So if you show up for a 2 hour 40 minute, with trailers that's a bit over 3 hours. Kind of unexpected to have to pay for parking at a mall, at a place not in downtown. Voting with my money on Monday by dumping all my AMC stock.

Robert B.

Yelp
Seats need upgrade Cleanliness 3.7/5 stars But they have a bar and great service all around

Yelp
I hate being "that guy" complaining about something because I LOVE going to the movies and I think AMC has a lot of great features (sound, screens, snacks, bar, etc), but this location is not well cared for. All the seats in most theaters are so dirty and there's almost always trash or popcorn lying around. It's frustrating to have to go sit in seats that look like this (see photos), but otherwise I still enjoy going to see movies here and I am still an AMC A-list member.

Lauren A.

Yelp
No soap in the individual bathrooms, ice machine broken, stale popcorn, food all over hallway floor, and no toilet paper in the stalls of the larger women's bathroom. The theater is conveniently located, so I really hope they hire or train better management. I will give this location one more chance and cross my fingers that they do better.

Yelp
We went to see Inside Out 2... but movie aside, the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful with both tickets and snacks. Very nice movie theater in the middle of the city.
google avatar

Jacob M.

Yelp
Very dirty theater and looks like the chairs have never been cleaned since opening. Very confusing layout too

Yelp
HORRIBLE PREVIEW LENGTHS - OVER 30 MINUTES! So it cost $12 to park instead of the $2 validated rate. Went for a bday celebration to see Complete Unknown - seats were ok enough, sound good (A Complete Uknown) and screen quality was good. We loved the film and watched all the credits w/Dylan songs playing over. So one film and forty or so minutes of previews so that we missed the parking limit of 3 hours validated by about ten minutes, which cost us $12. Total ripoff. Stop the previews!!! Or warn people.

vaseili d.

Yelp
We have been attending of the International Film Festival showings at this theatre over the past few days. The condition of the theaters, carpeting, etc are one step above shabby. However, the seats are absolutely filthy! Take some sort of wipes with you before visiting the theaters and place your clothing in the wash when you get home.
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
The theater is very dirty. There is no signage or notice of cleaning/movie still in progress. I walked in to the theater 20 min prior to start and last movie still playing, so waited outside. No seating available just one random table in the hallway to stand at. Customers tried to enter and the staff mumbled " 5 more min for cleaning." There was still popcorn scattered on the seats. A regular drink is $6.99. The reserved seating is nice, but the seat labels are poorly marked so a lot of customers sat in the wrong seats unintentionally. Seats did not recline. Parking was able to be validated so came out to $2. I had purchased my movie ticket in advance online and selected a seat, a convenience fee was charged as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I feel like I am becoming a regular at this AMC! The staff is incredibly friendly and I appreciate the validated parking! The smaller theaters with the reclined seats are always very clean, but the larger ones seem to be very dirty!

Dan R.

Yelp
Eight previews and two commercials so far, half an hour of my life wasted. They should cut way back on these. What a joke. Then they show the same ad again! I came to see a movie. I will be letting management know.

Sonja R.

Yelp
Dangerously loud. Saw The Brutalist there this afternoon. The sound levels were set so high that it was distorting the sound. It would crackle at points in the movie. The previews were so loud that I left the theater and could clearly hear all 25 minutes of (overly violent) previews from outside the theater through the closed door. When I went back in to watch the movie, I pulled my double-lined hat over my head to try to get it to a bearable level. My boyfriend confirmed that it was loud as well, but he wasn't as bothered by it. The experience was so painful that I don't want to go there again. I know I could bring earplugs, but when the speakers are crackling and distorting the sound it ruins the movie.
google avatar

Leslie W.

Yelp
The most disgusting theater I've been too in a long time. Went into the theater and walked right back out and got a refund. Hair, food, stains and who knows what else all over every single seat. Don't go here unless you are comfortable and willing to pay to sit in filth!
google avatar

Yelp
We came to catch 'Missing', which was really good. It's more escapist than factual like most movies. Anyway I had wanted to check this place out for a while. I like the AMC chain, and I like the Old Town area. It is not immediately easy to find, as with most AMC theaters, it is located in other businesses. The 'Newcity' is part of huge conglomerate of shops and restaurants, but not in 1 building. The theater area is newer than the other downtown theaters, a little smaller. I like assigned seats but I'm kind of spoiled for RECLINERS! I think they were clean. I don't think the issues Adam F and Mark T observed were going on. We saw people coming in to clean, so the seats seemed clean this time. The concession area was fine, BOTH butter dispensers worked! The restroom was clean and functional too. We took public transportation (not the Red Line, bleh) so we didn't have parking issues.

Yelp
Updated The new laser projection is much better than the previous version. Bright enough to offset the exit signs in Theater 12 at least.

Yelp
It's good to be back at the movies! I've taken a break the past few years, but it felt nice to catch a movie in theaters. AMC is conveniently located in the New City shopping mall center, which I have yet to explore but after this visit I'm eager to do so! The theater entrance was clean and not overcrowded, despite going on a Saturday evening. Snacks and popcorn was expensive, but this is what I've come to expect from a night at the movies. Even still, the popcorn was delicious and we had more than enough to share with a medium. They have soda touch screen machines with every soda and variation of flavor you could ever want. I LOVE these things - they also mean free refills! Which is nice after spending an arm and a leg for a fountain drink. There is also a bar, which always makes seeing a movie a little more fun. I sipped on a glass of white wine and it was good! The seats were standard, not the super nice ones that recline, but comfy enough for a 2 hour show. Overall, I enjoyed this AMC a lot!

Yelp
I accidentally showed up to the incorrect theater. I had used my A-List account, so I was interested in talking to the manager to see if I could get tickets to the incorrect location cancelled and secure new tickets to Newcity. She told me to call the other theater to cancel, which I tried, but they were not answering the phone. Next I was informed to call customer support to cancel, I called and that is a line that does not accept phone calls. I asked again how I could get tickets to a movie at that location. I was unable to use my A-List account because of the mistake of arriving to the wrong theater and not being able to cancel the ticket. She was not cooperative and was not willing to help me in this situation. I pointed out that the customer service was very poor and she continued to treat me like an obstacle instead of a customer. I wasn't able to see the movie that day. This is the second time I've interacted with this manager (the first time was because I had a backpack, which isn't allowed. I walked to the theater, so I had nowhere to store it. Meanwhile people were walking in with larger over the shoulder bags with no issue. I asked if we could leave it at the front or do a search of the bag. Both of the options were turned down and the manager was unmovable and was not interested in finding a solution). I haven't had any other issues with the employees other than the manager. It is due to the interactions with her that my spouse and I are considering cancelling our membership with AMC and changing theater chains. We've been with AMC for 4 years and have loved it, but I don't want to interact with her anymore. It's a bummer when one person without any room for flexibility and problem solving is in charge.

Yelp
This is a nice movie theater and we are so fortunate to have it in the neighborhood. Easy access and great location, good choice of movies, nice atmosphere, clean and cozy. Lots of restaurants with great food right next door. Perfect place to visit with friends and family. It is kids friendly as well. If I don't have plans during the weekend and I don't want to stay at home, I would go watch a movie there.
google avatar

Brynn P.

Yelp
This is the worst movie theater that I have ever been to. I thought it would be nice since we are in the city, but I was so wrong. The employees were fine and everything was clean, but my biggest issue was the food. On their website, it was advertised they have so many food options and a bar. Basically anything you would want! There was nothing! We went there on a Tuesday night and no one was at the bar. They were out of ALL food besides their nachos and popcorn and EVERYTHING was stale. Popcorn and tortilla chips both tasted old. The cheese with the chips was so gross. Since we were so disappointed with the nachos and popcorn, we decided to get candy instead. Somehow the CANDY WAS STALE!! How does that happen? Is no one checking their products? Severely disappointed in the experience.

Yelp
WELCOME BACK I'm so excited to have our neighborhood movie theater back. We lost ArcLight to the pandemic. It's great to have movies back on the big screen. We enjoyed Marvels, Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There we're some great effects and I'm starting to really like his character. He's cocky and arrogant but cool under pressure. Here's my only spoiler. Keep an eye out for Snow White. The bar hasn't re-opened yet but I'm sure that will happen in time. The popcorn was really good and tasty. The best news of the night was they gave me a small cup of hot butter to add to my popcorn. That really made my day. I hate when there's only butter on top. I also did a little free styling with my drink. I did 2/3 lemonade and 1/3 Sprite. I've never done a combo like that. and I thought it was really good. I'm thinking it would have been great to add 1/4 vodka too but like I said the bar isn't open yet. I'll have to try this combo in the future. The seats were super comfy. Our tickets were in the second to last row and I was actually happy with my view. I was worried at first. I'm starting to think there's not a bad seat in the house. I'm sure there's some architectural genius behind the design and viewing angles. That's too scientific for me. There's a lot to see at New City. I'm glad that everything is coming back. It's such a great mall with shopping, food and fun. If you park in the garage to watch a movie parking can be validated for $2 for 3 hours of parking! Now that's a deal. It's time to get back out and enjoy the movies. Or as Vin Diesel would say, "DA MOOOOOVIES!"
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
Does theatre 13 have ac?! It's as hot outside as it is in the theatre. Can you please pay the bill and fix your ac?!?

Jeff B.

Yelp
2.5 stars. The majority of the Yelp reviews here are pretty accurate - this AMC theater could be great but is just meh. A short walk from the red line. Picture and sound are good. Concessions r overpriced which is par for AMC. Theater is HOT - we went in the first week of August and there was zero airflow in the theater. We asked a manager to turn the air up and we didn't feel anything different. This is a new or recently remodeled theater but isn't being well maintained - floors and surfaces are dirty. The seats are cloth and many are stained or torn. Seats do not recline. Either management is oblivious to what everyone is saying or they are aware and have chosen to not make the changes that need to be made to make this a go to theater.

Janet M.

Yelp
Easy to get to, 5 min walk from Clybourne red line stop. Immediately on entering we noticed how clean everything was, how fresh it smelled and how nicely it was laid out. We ordered a large popcorn and got two cups for water which we didn't have to ask for as they were on the counter. They had butter for the popcorn but we like to add extra salt, sadly we couldn't find any salt shakers or packets anywhere (no biggie). I like that they had cardboard trays and paper bags on the side for those who like to split popcorn or snacks. We really enjoyed our movie experience here. Others have commented on the amount of previews you have to sit through but that's the same in any movie theater you go to. The seats were a little firm and more upright but I actually prefer that (if I wanted to lounge around I would stay home and stream something in my pjs). I will return and enjoy another movie very soon!
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Super helpful staff, letting me charge my Euc while I watched a movie. 10/10 service! You now have the support of the whole #ChicagoEUC community
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
One of the worst theater seats I have ever seen. The theater itself was clean, but couldn't get over the fact that what kinda disease was I going to get from these seats. Gross Gross Gross
google avatar

Kyle F.

Yelp
The theater itself is good. I'm giving a 1 star because of how atrocious the parking company is that is partnered with the building. They charge $2 for validated tickets (0-3 hours) for customer going to a movie. HOWEVER, if your movie is longer than 3 hours, (or longer with previews, which would be like 2.5 hour movie), you will be charged an insane markup to $14 for parking. Clearly, this is unfair practices, and whomever came up with this, was not a bright individual. They clearly didn't consider longer movies when creating this pricing structure of a 3 hour window. If you're going to offer validated prices for customers going to the moves, but then shaft those that are going to a longer movie, then this is talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Angela C.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood theater, minutes walking distance from my house. Yesterday I went intending to go to a 12:45 screening. The wait for my concession order was long enough that I changed to the next showtime, because I wanted to see the previews as well. Others had their larger orders completed before me. Felt forgotten because I was there alone, and most in front of me were there with children. My money should be just as valued as anyone else's. Don't plan on a return visit for a while.
google avatar

Adam F.

Yelp
The place was disgusting. I ended up leaving before the movie started. The seats have food imbedded in them and the place hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. There are probably mites/flees in the seats. Avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
Very accommodative staff! Going well beyond what is necessary to make the customer happy. #ChicagoEUC

Yelp
As the saying goes, "It's hard to hustle, a hustler"! I've had "Game", since I'm 12 years old. That's not bragging, it's just fact. So when I go to my first movie, in two years, I'm excited, anxious, cautious and going into it with high hopes. Our movie, Elvis, was excellent. We enjoyed the hell out this 2 hour and 40 minute movie. Now, here's the rub: We arrived at The AMC, 20 minutes early for our 12:50 showtime (12:30). This AMC had 10 minutes of commercials, 8 minutes of previews of upcoming movies and 5 minutes telling you to turn off your phones, don't talk and to buy a members to their platinum ticket club. Are you still with me? The (2 hour and 40 minute - this is important) movie is over; we both visit the bathroom, validate our parking ticket and walk to our car. Upon exiting, we put our validated ticket into the machine and wait for the gates arm to rise. But no, it doesn't rise. Instead, it says we owe $14.00. WHAT? I got validation? $14.00? For What? Here's where "The Hustle" starts: Like I said earlier, I arrived at 12:30. It's now 4:00. At this AMC, they give you exactly and only 3 hours of validation. After 3 hours, you owe $14.00 - and that's, that! WT*? In all of the hundreds of movie theaters I've been to to see a kazillion movies over many years, this was the first time I ever got cold-cocked at exiting. It made me sad. I felt like a rube. My sense of fair play got violated. My pleas went unheard. A pleasant day at the movies, turned into con job I won't forget. Ouch!!!!! Double Ouch!!!!!
google avatar

Mihaela M.

Yelp
Dude, when I say this place is trash, I mean it! My movie was supposed to start at 10:00am. It's now 10:15am and there's a large group of people waiting to get into the theatre for their movie. The doors are locked but we've noticed at least one person in there just ignoring everyone! Now I can't even refund my ticket through the app ("error occurred" ). This place is a total flaming pile of TRASH! Stay far away from this AMC! You will be burning money and precious time. No s**ts given this Sunday morning by AMC Newcity 14.

Robert S.

Yelp
So we decide to go and see Woman King The place was empty there was only 2 other people in the theater with us we went to a nice afternoon matinee 1 PM middle of the week kids are in school The movie was wonderful loved it all you haters out there complaining and what not FU The people working here were great very helpful got a couple drinks and popcorn quickly didn't really care for half an hour of previous really said the movie it was at 2 o'clock and it was almost 230 before even started maybe then after 230 I know that they wanna preview other movies but come on a 1/2 an hour of previous Love the seats here very comfortable very clean nice bathrooms all in all it was good
google avatar

Justin P.

Yelp
AMC's cost-cutting is fully displayed as they take over the former Arclight. I've seen two films here now, and each time to projection was off, with the lower area of the film projecting below the screen. During the Arclight era, the temperature of the theaters was always perfect. During both my visits, once on a rainy 63-degree day and again on a sunny 90-degree day, the theater was warm to the point of discomfort. I'm sad to see the high standards of the Arclight diminished in this way.
google avatar

Susana L.

Yelp
ADD GLOW IN THE DARK LETTERS TO THE ROW SIGNAGE FOR GOD'S SAKE! Has anyone who works there ever entered one of the theatres and experienced how impossible it is to find and read the row signage? It's pretty damn cheap to switch it out. Also at that cinema, you're either freezing or sweltering hot. They don't care. And no one seems to keep up with the bathrooms.
google avatar

Payton M.

Yelp
Theatre itself was nice with updated seats. Lobby was very dirty and old besides the bar.

Dylan P.

Yelp
So dirty in there the seats are really nasty. Came into the theater with the lights on and wished I hadn't seen what I saw. I don't think they're ever cleaned. Also you can show up 20 minutes late to your movie and avoid dozens of really loud commercials, but really don't go to this theater at all unless you wear a full length raincoat
google avatar

Bronson E.

Yelp
Very solid AMC! Theaters are nice, great picture & sound. Lobby is a bit sparse, but nothing too bad. Especially great considering it's in a mall.
google avatar

Yelp
They promote discounted parking in the garage for up to three hours, but it isn't honored when it's time to pay. When I called to inform them of the problem, I had to call three times before I could actually talk to a person, then they said it's because I used the validation machine twice - which I didn't. Then they said, I had to call the building because it was up to them to honor the validation - which is also wrong. Very poor customer service!
