As the saying goes, "It's hard to hustle, a hustler"!
I've had "Game", since I'm 12 years old. That's not bragging, it's just fact. So when I go to my first movie, in two years, I'm excited, anxious, cautious and going into it with high hopes.
Our movie, Elvis, was excellent. We enjoyed the hell out this 2 hour and 40 minute movie.
Now, here's the rub:
We arrived at The AMC, 20 minutes early for our 12:50 showtime (12:30). This AMC had 10 minutes of commercials, 8 minutes of previews of upcoming movies and 5 minutes telling you to turn off your phones, don't talk and to buy a members to their platinum ticket club.
Are you still with me?
The (2 hour and 40 minute - this is important) movie is over; we both visit the bathroom, validate our parking ticket and walk to our car.
Upon exiting, we put our validated ticket into the machine and wait for the gates arm to rise. But no, it doesn't rise. Instead, it says we owe $14.00.
WHAT?
I got validation? $14.00? For What?
Here's where "The Hustle" starts:
Like I said earlier, I arrived at 12:30. It's now 4:00. At this AMC, they give you exactly and only 3 hours of validation. After 3 hours, you owe $14.00 - and that's, that!
WT*?
In all of the hundreds of movie theaters I've been to to see a kazillion movies over many years, this was the first time I ever got cold-cocked at exiting.
It made me sad.
I felt like a rube.
My sense of fair play got violated.
My pleas went unheard.
A pleasant day at the movies, turned into con job I won't forget.
Ouch!!!!! Double Ouch!!!!!
