29 Aug 25- Saw one movie here today. The infrastructure and screen experience was wonderful but ticketing kiosk malfunctioned . The resolution after manual intervention from staff took about 20 minutes. Overall good experience.

Everything Is really good about this theater plus this my home away from home theater Always clean with friendly staff Definitely recommend this theater to anyone These we're taken August 2025 season

I was very excited to see “Princess Mononoke” in theaters. The pictures great. The sound great. The seats awful. The IMAX seats suck. I would never have paid $22.70 a ticket to sit in those uncomfortable seats. They are worse than airplane seats. The seats are soft for about 15 minutes and they you just feel squished to the person next to you and no way to recline at all. I will not be watching another movie at this theater again. I’d rather go to a regal cinema, at least their seats don’t suck and ticket prices are cheaper. I’ll be watching Studio Ghibli at home from now on, on my comfortable couch. The in theater experience not worth it for the cost and discomfort.

Google
Cool theater, only problem was when I watched Sonic the Hedgehog in Dolby here a few months ago, the screen kept getting into a 4:3 or 1:1 ratio, causing the screen to get weird, wasn't until the trailers started that this got fixed

Anastasiya

Google
It was pretty nice, I enjoyed the recliner seats they were clean, nice, and comfy, I liked how it wasn't too hot or cold in the cinema. Also, the theather had a great ambiance, friendly people, nice bathrooms, and overall a great atmosphere, would go again! The only thing I would point out would be to maybe add some small tables or more cup holders for the food and maybe as a small storage space, and I also wished the food was cheaper, it was good but a little expensive.

Google
This is a larger AMC theater than I am used to seeing. The theater I went to see a movie in was large and spacious and the sound was great. They had plenty of handicap ♿️ parking spaces, and the gentleman who got us our concessions was very happy and got us our order quickly!

on 26 May 2025, watched MI movie in IMAX screen, "G" row Pros- -Bigger screen (compared to AMC niles & woodfield) - great visuals n sound -Good legroom for all rows -Great legroom for "G" row -flodable arm rests Cons- -screen lower part covered by person sitting in front(especially G row) - no recliners or no pushback seats

I had the pleasure of visiting AMC Barrington, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The theater was clean, modern, and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really set the tone for a great time. The recliner seating in the theaters made the movie-going experience super comfortable, and I loved the wide selection of snacks available. The sound and picture quality were top-notch, ensuring that the movie was as immersive as possible. Whether you’re going for a blockbuster or a smaller film, AMC Barrington definitely provides a premium experience. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
The popcorn was delicious with all that butter you can add on your own on the side by the icee machine. It wasn't crowded at all for a Friday night. No wait time for snacks we walked right up. We love going to this theater but when we got to our seats in Room 6 our recliners weren't working! Not just for us the our whole row. It was bummer since we couldn't kick our feet up but it was still a good show.

Yelp
AMC Barrington is a nice theater within the area. My partner and I love coming on "discount Tuesday" where we can get (2) tickets for Laser films for $15. The discount does extend to IMAX and Dolby but will still come at a premium from base tickets. The theaters tend to be low staff and rather clean. I've had minimal experiences where food was left on the floor or in cupholders when I go and have only had it once where my recliner didn't work. Staff tends to be younger teens who aren't super personable. Otherwise, all theaters have recliners, they have expanded their food offerings, picture quality and sound is good, and we love that there's 24 screens and an IMAX! We never have issues finding a showing and time that works for our schedule. I am an "AMC Stubs Premiere" Member which is $15 for the whole year for: 1) waives online booking fees for parties less than 4 people, 2) upgrades popcorn & soda from med to large for free, 3) increases point earned per dollar spent. These are all perks above their "Insider" level which is free to join! It's very easy to book off the app and one can easily cancel tickets for a refund last minute if needed. I love setting reminders for films "coming soon" to make a queue on what we are interested in.

Yelp
Seats were not cleaned. There was popcorn all over spilled by earlier audience. Good thing is : screen is good in size. Sound effects are good: Bad thing is : snacks , popcorn ; drinks are so expensive

Yelp
I love going to the movies! So much so that I have the "AMC A-List" subscription. This location is beautiful, & feels very private. I have been here many times with ALMOST all of them being great experiences. This location is clean, & well maintained! I preferably only watch movies in "Dolby Cinema" so I can only speak on behalf of that theater. It is very nice, it is immersive, dark, modern & clean. I recommend it to anyone going to the movies! It is such a great experience! Unfortunately the last two times have been somewhat of a let down. The most recent one being, After going to watch "Deadpool & Wolverine" AMC employees allowed people to rudely cut us in line when they were behind us calling the "next A-List subscribers next please" something we each pay $25 a month for. These people ran in front of us while we were walking to the stand, pushed my girlfriend & I out of the way causing my girlfriend to drop her belongings, one of them being our special popcorn bucket that we purchased for this special movie. It broke, & we didn't get any help or sympathy from any of the employees. I would've like to see someone stick up for her & I. Although we highly enjoyed the movie, & this location in general many times. This recent experience has been a sad one as I would've liked to see an employee interfere & help us out.

Yelp
Not a bad theatre but so cold it was hard to pay attention to the movie. Theatre was clean , bathrooms nice / $10.50 for an afternoon showing is hard to stomach. Thought it would be much cheaper for seniors at 1pm

Yelp
This place has a huge parking lot but the design is weird. Not sure why they have medians in random places. We came on a Wed night and the tickets are self serve. You just go to the kiosk then go to the usher to have your tickets ripped. We paid more to watch Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire in the Dolby theater. We can see that they didn't really clean up because of all of the popcorn on the floor. Recliners were comfortable, movie screen was massive, and the surround sound on both sides literally shook the theater. There were probably less than 10 people total which was awesome. We didn't use the concessions or the restrooms so we can't review those.

Rick C.

Yelp
If I have to tell you how to keep your restrooms clean and sanitary then all the people using them are not going to be happy. The restrooms need cleaning every hour. How hard can that be. You must have 10 people working the refreshments station. Use one of them.

Yelp
I went to see a Saturday matinee. Hardly anyone in the place. The women's bathroom needed to be cleaned. The theater itself was warm and stuffy, no air moving. The grounds and parking lot look run down. And everything is ridiculously expensive! Such a shame, this used to be a great place to see movies. I worry for them.
google avatar

Farah K.

Yelp
I have been going here for some time. For what they charge for food and drink it's terrible. Tonight the popcorn was burnt and stale, pizza was burnt, and more than half the syrups in the drink machine was out.

Jesus C.

Yelp
Besides the matinee price is redic at $10+, they had 1 person at the concession stand for like 30 people, and their seats are falling apart and barely work. For the price this place charges I expect so much better.

Yelp
I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to order food at the counter then when I ordered hot dogs they didn't get the hot dogs ready right away and kept taking orders, so it was about another 5 minute wait. Then the ketchup pump was very low. Told a worker who then pumped the ketchup about 20 times and a little ketchup came out. I had 4 hotdogs so the ketchup completely ran out. Then the worker said he needed to finish up an order that would take awhile before he could fill it. By then I was very late for my movie so I forgot about it. The bathrooms were filthy! Pee on the men's room floor and toilet water or pee all over the women's toilets. For the amount of money that was spent you would think the service would be better and it would be clean, but I guess that can't happen with this company. I will avoid this theater from now on. Not like it used to be 5 plus years ago.

Yelp
I like this location, but it's definitely not perfect. This one is a little further from us because we live closer to the Streets of Woodfield AMC, but we like coming here sometimes because it's a bit cleaner in our opinion and there are normally fewer people. We also like that this AMC is large, has only one floor, and has a big parking lot outside where people aren't fighting for parking in a garage. When my husband and I come to the movies, we are low-maintenance. We don't get food other than popcorn and/or candy, and we normally just get a large pop to share. Therefore, when it comes to these items, this place is like any other AMC theater: good, but extremely expensive. I'm not sure what some of these other reviewers are expecting at a movie theater haha. Luckily, we also have the Stubs card, so when it's really busy, we can go in the faster-moving line at the concessions. Though, just as others have said, we have noticed the workers are slower at this theater than others. There also seem to be fewer workers than at other locations. The other nice thing about the Stubs card is that buy tickets on the app. As a result, we don't have to wait in the lines that many others have discussed in their reviews. We haven't had many problems with the cleanliness here. Thankfully, the times I went to the bathroom were okay, but they need to make sure to check that there is toilet paper in each stall. In the individual theaters themselves, my seats have always been decently clean. I have had some popcorn on them before, but never have I complained about stickiness, which is my largest pet peeve. I normally do not see a bunch of pop all over the counters and floor here near the pop machines, either, but I'm sure accidents do happen. Overall, we will continue coming here sometimes for our movie excursions. One recommendation I would have for this specific location is that they add a bar. Most locations provide liquor options, and I know that this isn't a make-or-break for me or most people, but I like having the option.

Mariana C.

Yelp
Clean up the place!!!! Super dirty - women bathroom was discussing and my seat had popcorn. What's up with Barrington!! Not happy
google avatar

Vibha B.

Yelp
Theater is good... clean... line for snacks is not controlled and they are very slow. Restroom were extremely dirty
google avatar

Kori D.

Yelp
Popcorn is stale, icee machines don't work Popcorn being stale is silly because we ordered ahead of time so they should have made fresh popcorn for the movie. Had to pour out the icee that I initially poured because it was all liquid. The machines on the other side worked luckily, just didn't have my flavor. Probably wouldn't come back but we'll see

Yelp
Haven't been here for the longest time, Plandemic one reason. Saw The Northman, and the whole experience was very enjoyable; what going to the movies used to be. Theater was clean, chairs were extremely comfortable, especially when watching a a movie longer then 2 hours. You basically selected your seats prior to getting to the proper viewing area. Looking forward to once again coming back for our next movie. Enjoy & Cheers!

Yelp
Awesome ambience and seats. Good food. Many theaters and therefore multiple choices! Love going here and have been for the past 10+ years!

Yelp
I really want to love this place, I do. It hurts me to write a bad review because I do enjoy going to AmC theatres but this location is going downhill and fast. I've been here more times than I can count but cinema day this year was the last straw for us. This place was an absolute pigsty. I thought about taking videos and photos to create a TikTok to show social media just HOW BAD it was! It was absolutely filthy. All trashcans were full, over stuffed and trash piled up on floor. The restrooms, oh my! There was no soap, paper towels, or toilet paper. Absolute nightmare. We were all chatting about it in the ladies room and one woman mentioned she was going to speak to management. We tried to speak to customer service desk before leaving but no one was there. The employees are usually friendly but this place is severely understaffed or they aren't paid enough! There was urine all over the men's bathroom, my husband said it was absolutely disgusting. There was no toilet paper, soap, or paper towels in the men's bathroom either! The theatre we sat in was covered in greasy popcorn butter. The seats had a sheen to them. The floors were sticky and full of crumbs. It looked like a tornado ran through that entire place. The drinks stations needed severe attention and cleaning. The butter dispenser was out and filthy. Whew! The list could go on. We saw our movie and got out. Next time, we are going to AmC lake in the hills or another local theatre. If this place could get full staffed or under new management- I'd give it another try. I like the stubs program AMC offers and I think they usually have good deals but it's just not worth it anymore.

Yelp
Ripoff city. $1 charge per seat for Preferred Sightline Seat: $3.00 Convenience Fee: $7.47 So, I had to pay an additional dollar per seat to have a seat that isn't garbage and another 7.47 to buy tickets online so they can save money by not having to employ people to sell tickets. $10.47 in garbage fees. I don't pay garbage fees and you shouldn't either. This is utterly ridiculous and I would have not done it if I hadn't already promised my son we were going as a reward for an accomplishment, but it will be the last dime these ripoff artists see from me.

Yelp
If you want a huge selection of films to choose from, AMC South Barrington 24 is a solid choice. I have been going there for years, and I especially like their selection of foreign films. In addition to mainstream movies, their focus seems to be on Indian and Chinese films, though they often have other foreign film choices as well. Why go there? Plenty of free parking. Well-kept theater. Huge selection.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
This a nice cinema. We have never had a problem before. People are kind. The popcorn is yummy. The only thing I have to say is a couple of times it's been really hot inside the theater rooms.
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
Went to see Top Gun Maverick at the Imax. I was disappointed in the size of the screen, very small for an Imax, but the sound quality was terrible. It should be loud but not distorted and the surround sound was nonexistent. I'd recommend ordering any popcorn or whatever thru the AMC Stub app because the line was loooooong. The movie was better than I expected though

Ben D.

Yelp
Management is awful at this AMC, Employees are also, they are always rude, and very lazy. Way too understaffed and half of the employees don't give a single f*ck about their job, just want there cheap pay ($12). Also the popcorn is never fresh, we could open at 11 and they start making it at 8. Some workers that cook your food, will purposely mess it up, so they can keep it and eat it. They also rarely clean the soda machines, that's why your soda is gross. I worked there for 6 months, and they threatened to fire me because I looked too sad while working. I was the only one who tried to help around there, wouldn't recommend going there or working there!

Yelp
This theater annoys the heck out of me. It is huge, like one of the biggest cinema complexes I've ever been in besides River East (and it's been a few years, so it's possible it is larger). But it has like two bathrooms per gender or something. So even if your seeing a movie in theater 19, on one end of the complex, the ladies bathroom is in the other wing. What sense does this make? Luckily for this purpose I live in the city so my trips out here are rare. It does have recliner seating, and a Dolby theater, and an IMAX theater. And a ton of parking. All pluses. Another thing in this theater's favor is that it shows a lot of Indian films. Like so many that I'm astounded, because I wouldn't have realized that the population out here in the NW suburbs could sustain that kind of audience, and more than any other theater in the Chicago market, and for many it's the only place showing them. But it is great that these films are available out here.

Yelp
$40 for two tickets to see Beast the movie started 17 mins late on an opening night, a little crazy. For a large drink and pretzel with large Icee it was about $31 I continue to give AMC chances and it always something weird that happens. I know it was a Thursday but it might need to be more staff those nights just for safely of business flow. Overall great experience in Dolby just wish it started on time.

Cynthia P.

Yelp
The parking lot and grounds are full of garbage. Broken bottles, empty popcorn and pop containers everywhere. The theater inside was fine. The seats were fine. It's a little surprising given that the theater is in south Barrington. We won't go there again.

Yelp
I caught Groundhog Day here a few weeks ago for a song. I don't recall what their matinee pricing was before or if older movies regularly get discounts, but it was nice to go to an AMC and not walk out $25 lighter. I knew going in that there would be only one other viewer in the theater and when I reserved my seat, I was heartened to see the system automatically blocks off the seats to the right and left of any other party. If you have any Covid concerns, this should put you more at ease for your night out. All staff that I saw was masked, though the parking lot and theater were largely a ghost town. The box office attendant scans your QR code, assuming you purchased ahead of time (we're all doing that now, right? We're not stopping by the theater on a whim?). After the quick scan, we were directed toward our theater and the attendant got tongue-tied informing us that we hadn't missed anything, previews were still rolling. I let myself take at least ten steps thinking it was because she thought I was cute, then I remembered my face was about 80% obstructed by my mask and windblown hair. Maybe it was my eyes? Or maybe we're just out of practice talking to strangers. Either way, it put a smile beneath my mask and a spring in my step. Bathrooms were clean, theater was clean, picture was clear. Well, as much as Groundhog Day can be. So nice, I'd do it all over again.
google avatar

Sejal J.

Yelp
Parking lot is full of pit holes. Bathrooms are dirty. Self serving areas are dirty. The front open area floor is full of scattered garbage such as napkins, popcorn, straws, candy wrappers.
google avatar

Carm A.

Yelp
Visited this location numerous times. Before and after Covid. Great service, good snacks, large theater! The seats are a bit uncomfortable though in the larger theater section. But overall great place.
google avatar

Filomena S.

Yelp
Horrible toilets full of shit, no running water, should have just closed the place up
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
Stopped by to see a movie the other night. It was on the IMAX screen. Picture and sound were great. Seats weren't very comfortable and did not recline. I thought the ticket prices were on the high side. Almost $100 for two adults and two kids. Bathrooms were not clean and on the gross side. Probably won't be going back as I feel there are better priced theaters of equal or better quality closer to me.
google avatar

Ruth L.

Yelp
Has been around for years in the area. Plenty of parking and one of the nicer theaters in the area Was here recently to watch Avengers. Clean theater with nice leather recline seats.
google avatar

Gretchen C.

Yelp
My husband and I love going to this theater! It's very clean or does not look run-down. They have digital, IMAX and Dolby there. We appreciate how close this place is to us too. It's also off of 90 going west and east. They have restaurants nearby if you wanna grab a quick bite to eat beforehand or after a movie. If you watch movies often then become an A-list member! That's what I have and love coming to AMC South Barrington to watch the new movies.

Marie T.

Yelp
A little pissed off right now. 7:55 PM on NYE watching a movie we paid over $70 for and we can't get snacks? Because it's a holiday and they closed early? BS. Unacceptable. Will NEVER come here again
google avatar

Yelp
COVID precaution update! I hate to leave this review, because it may mean an increase in attendance, which means I won't get the theater to myself... the bright side is that if AMC gets more business, we don't have to worry about a theater-pocalypse. If you're nervous about exposure, I get it. I am too. Here's what AMC South Barrington is doing... - Masks required everywhere unless you're eating/drinking in your seat - Plastic partitions at all points of contact with employees (ticket counter, concessions) - The option to purchase tickets/food online, for reduced/zero contact transactions - Cups are given with lid and straw (no self-serve dispensers) - Butter, Salt, and napkins are served with meal (no self-serve and I personally like this, because they give 2 containers of butter so you can spread a second coat when you're halfway down the bucket!) - Disinfectant spray-down of seats between showings (my seat was still drying when I arrived) - 40% max seating capacity (in the three times I've been out, I'd guess that capacity didn't even hit 5%) - Once you pick a seat (or multiple if you're in a group) the adjacent seats are automatically blocked for purchase - Tubs of juicy sanitation wipes for easy access throughout the theater - Hand sanitizer stations I used to go here in my 20s and 20 years later, it's still clean and updated. I have been watching matinees since there's a 30% discount, and the theaters have always been pretty light with people. My recommendation for you (especially if you're nervous about exposure), is to find a weekday where you can take in an afternoon matinee. There will be so few people there, that you'll be able to experience what AMC is attempting to do. If you don't like it or you start to feel uncomfortable... AMC will issue you a refund for your ticket. I have been bringing my own personal wipes and sanitizer, and I've seen people wearing gloves or wearing their masks throughout the show, so if you are extra cautious... no worries! You're in good company.

Jim H.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a while, and now I won't be back for a longer while. I have a premium stubs membership and went to the counter to get popcorn and a drink. 1 person behind the counter! 2 people waiting for their items in the pickup area. The guy behind the counter told me to wait a minute and ran out the back door. I'm sure he was running to get help but I didn't wait any longer and started walking away. When he came back he had to finish the orders for the other people, so we were out of luck. I turned around and walked away again! Thanks again for nothing. Why should I pay for a membership that does not provide what is purchased for? I was in the premium line! Why should this young man have to run anywhere to get help? Where is the manager that should be watching over this area? Lastly... While walking to my theatre I noticed that this place smells... Not a pleasant smell either. Carpets need to be sanitized and the place needs some deep cleaning. Needless to say, I'm aggravated and the whole experience is ruined. Thanks a lot AMC!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
This location is great! Specially with the new renovated theater.. Upon arrival they have several members of the staff ready to help. They also have little kiosk where you can purchase your own tickets. They have very nice recliner seats and clean movie rooms. Restrooms are clean and consesion stands are very up to standards. This is one nice theater and I enjoy coming here.
google avatar

Lindsay J.

Yelp
Ehhhh, this theatre is soooo expensive. They do offer a wider variety of movies, so if you are in the market for an independent film or documentary, it's worth going there, but for a mainstream release, I would go elsewhere. They do have a movie club card, but I have a closer theatre with a rewards program. I wouldn't join their's for that reason. It could be worth it though if you look into the details and this is your local theatre. Also, the seats are lounge chairs and are very comfy. The attendants we encountered were nice, I just think $10.50 for a 12:30 pm movie is a lot more than other places...The kids price is $9.50 for that time of day.

Teresa J.

Yelp
Filthy, filthy, filthy. Beyond anything I have ever seen. Also came on 4th weekend. Went to theatre 8 and there was no AC! We left. Parents brought in two small kids who screamed when the dinosaurs ate people. They continued to scream until I asked the manager to intervene.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
I actually chose to use my free ticket from my cable company to go to this specific theater because I remember how fantastic it used to be. First off the amount of potholes that could potentially take your car out in their parking lot is horrific, followed up by the complete lack of any chair upgrades what-so-ever and the $18+ large popcorn and drink combo...seriously!! I get better from the budget theater with reclining chairs and my car tires won't be destroyed either. They need upgrades in seating and price reductions in food without having to apply for their "loyalty program" which you have to pay a fee for me to return.
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
The imax was filthy they had no AC on either and everyone was so uncomfortable. This was very unfortunate as we anticipated seeing a great Top Gun movie! The imax sound was not even loud and had no difference between just a normal theater.
google avatar

Donna C.

Yelp
First of all I have to say I this theatre was very clean and I loved coming here but now WHAT HAPPENED FILTH!!! I was there on a Wednesday like 4:30pm which you would think it would be decently clean!... well no it was dirty sticky and there was hardly a selection of drinks... what happened here since Covid I have no idea.. I'm so disappointed.. also the bathroom I don't even wanna talk about it. I hope they can hire new management a new team of cleaners to freshen up the place.
google avatar

Viquar M.

Yelp
Nice and big theaters. Good snacks esp pizza and coffees along with popcorn and drinks. They have Bollywood movies tuning here. We like all recliner seats and they are spacious and comfy. It's clean and well maintained.

Lefai K.

Yelp
I remember coming here when I was a teenager. Me and my friends were up to no good shenanigans and when we wanted to watch a late night midnight showing, we would drive from the city to here. I remember how I thought this place was far far away. Back then, it was called AMC 30, so I was surprised to see this being called AMC 24... not sure what happened to the other 6? I really liked this theater. The seats, although they don't electronically recline in other fancy shmancy theaters, they were still pretty comfortable. The layout of the place was just spacious. I enjoyed the movie I watched and really liked IMAX. No sticky seats or anything like that, so it works for me. BATHROOM REVIEW: I tried the bathrooms located near the front entrance and they were A-OK. Plenty of urinals and stalls to take care of the influx of people after a movie. Sit or squat? Squat.

Yelp
I was a huge fan of the original AMC S. Barrington prior to the remodeling and upgrade. Post remodeling and upgrade, I haven't been here enough because there are other theaters closer to me to go to. However, I am glad that this AMC went through the remodeling and upgrade and as david L. wrote in his review, "it's nice to see they made some improvements..." I agree with his comments of this AMC making changes to add comfy, reclining and reserved seats. It's a clean theater with big, medium and small size screens. You can usually find a newly released movie playing here that you might be looking to watch. This is a family friendly place and usually is pretty busy. The regular (2D) adult tickets are $13.31 (weekdays after 6 P.M. and on weekends after 12 P.M. and bargain matinee before 12 P.M. price is $6.93).

D P.

Yelp
For such a beautiful theater they really disappointed me and 3 friends tonight. Their staff is very friendly. We were in Theater #3 with NO HEAT. It was FREEZING in there. It was only 9 degrees outside and I really don't think it was much warmer inside. Possibly you could have moved this movie to a theater that had heat. After paying $15 per ticket, since you have to pay online to order ahead and pay service charges, this was a FAIL on the management. Ushers should have come around and provided coffee and blankets for the 6 patrons in this theater watching the movie.

Yelp
We go to AMC in South Barrington about once a month. In the years I have been on Yelp, I can't believe I have never written a review. So, it is time. Over the years, we have seen AMC change a lot. It used to be that they really pushed junk food at you, candy, and sodas. Now, while they still have all of that, there are a few healthy options. It also used to be that the walls between the theaters were not soundproofed enough to keep you from hearing the music from the movie in the next theater. They have gotten that under control. But, I love what modern theaters are doing for comfort, and AMC is certainly a leader in the movement. Assigned seats, recliners, tiered seating (so you don't have to watch the back of someone's head), and great sound and a fantastic picture on the screen.

Yelp
I've decided I'm going to take myself to the movies once a month. Alone. Solita. Maybe it's because I'm in my forties now, but this solitary activity (which once caused me to greatly pity other singletons at the cinema) now sounds HEAVENLY! So, I've decided that I'll check out one movie a month, on a Tuesday, at AMC South Barrington 24. I signed up for their free Stubs frequent patron program to get discounted tickets on Tuesdays. My most recent ticket purchase came out to $8 and some change which I think is a reasonable price. While at the theater, I found myself hypnotized by the delicious buttered popcorn aroma, so I headed over to the concession stand line. And then quickly stepped on out. Over $8 for a regular popcorn?! I know I'm frugal, but is this the going rate for popcorn?! I just couldn't. With so many movies showing at once, one can't complain about a lack of variety. There's truly something for everyone here. The reclining seats were awesome. I was more comfortable than I would have been watching a movie at home. I'm a fan of this theater. I hope to return many more times in the near future.

Yelp
I purchased tickets for the new Spiderman flick on Fandango for Christmas Eve of last year. They had the 3D version of the movie listed, so we were really excited to see that and thus booked it for our annual christmas eve movie which we do every other year. This year is the last year my son will be with us so it was pretty important. When we went to get into the building, I should have known as soon as the attendant could not locate our "tickets" that there was a problem. However, the tickets I had from the theater had a theater location on it so she waved us in. We went to the assigned theater after buying $40 worth of food and drinks and Sing! started on the screen. Clearly a mistake, I went back to the customer service desk. He informed me there was no 3D showing and that he assumed our seats were valid in the other theater where they were showing the movie. So we went in that theater. No sooner did we get settled then 2 rows of a family came in and low and behold we were in their seats. So I went back to the customer service desk. At this point I was pretty irate because first of all, they should have known that the seats in one theater aren't going to be available in another theater. Anyways, in front of me was another person who was yelling at the staff and being totally unreasonable. If AMC is reading this, it was the man who refused to leave until he saw a manager...even though he was already talking to a manager. I did not want to load anymore crap onto these workers. I was upset, but it was Christmas eve. I was informed that because I got my tickets through Fandango that I would need to go to them for all issues and refunds. And "sometimes this happens" because of the way their system is set up. Here's the thing. I am not complaining about going back to Fandango on that. I get it, it's a 3rd party vendor. It's like using priceline instead of booking direct. THAT SAID, if your theater has a contract with these 3rd party vendors and your theaters and available movies change..there needs to be some system in place to assist those of us who bought through that vendor. If changes are made, who is responsible to ensure that shows which have sold tickets on it are informed?? We are also customers. At a minimum, in a show of goodwill, I would have expected them to refund some of the cost of our drinks and snacks since we ended up having to leave because there were no seats. This is 2022. So to not have that set up is really unacceptable especially for such a large entity like AMC. This reflects back on AMC, not on Fandango. We ended up booking through Marcus theaters as we left here and had no issues. But I have to say, unless it's a movie I can't see at a Marcus theater, I do not think we will be back. Really just no value here. Plus the theater was dirty across the board.
