We stayed at Amdaeng Bangkok Hotel with another couple and had a really enjoyable experience. It’s a small, quiet boutique hotel, perfect if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city without actually leaving it. Despite reading a few reviews suggesting the pool was closed, we were pleasantly surprised to find a clear sign at reception stating that the pool can be opened on request. We asked, and sure enough, it was opened for us without any fuss. The rooms were lovely; beautifully decorated in rich red tones with a unique charm. We especially liked the freestanding bathtub in the middle of the room, which added a touch of luxury. The bed was very comfortable, and the blackout curtains were a huge plus, keeping the room perfectly dark even after sunrise. The room had everything we needed: tea and coffee-making facilities, a mini bar, and a cosy atmosphere overall. Amdaeng is a great choice if you’re looking for a quiet, stylish stay in Bangkok that won’t break the bank. We’d happily return.

We stayed for 5 nights on a 3 week trip around Thailand, with two friends in another room. We arrived after dark & were a bit disconcerted about the approach -- down a shabby narrow lane and then having to walk the last 30m which was too small for a vehicle. But then we saw it! A magenta coloured 4 story slender old building that stepped straight out of a period arthouse film set in the 1930s. The lobby area continued that ambience, as did our top floor rooms (not overlooking the river unfortunately -- extra $$). The room was large with a beautifully comfy king sized bed, a shower, toilet and small bathtub actually in the same room as the bedroom (for the shy, you can curtain it off). Not sure how many rooms it has, but maybe 10?? Not mannt more. So the dining room or river terracd is never crowded. The food is just wonderful, and inexpensive. Most nights you get a talented duo singing Carpenters & Bee Gees covers on the terrace, as the cruise ships drift by. The hotel is about 4-500 metres from a skytrain stop and a futher 500m on you come to a MASSIVE shopping centre with everything under the sun for sale there. The staff are exceptionally lovely and helpful. The small pool was closed while we were there -- no idea why. And the rooftop bar was not operating. Botton lime: we all stay in anodyne comfortable hotels all over the world which we could never describe 2 weeks later. This one will never leave your mind, for all the right reasons.

Amdaeng Bangkok Riverside Hotel is a small boutique gem offering a peaceful stay along the Chao Phraya River. The hotel features beautiful Thai-inspired décor, creating a warm and authentic ambiance. Rooms are tastefully designed, with riverview balconies perfect for relaxing.

Personally my favourite boutique stays ive had in years - this gem is like finding an antique piece in a the least unexpected place. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay- wonderful staff, room is exceptional 👌 comfortable and feels nostalgic- which is perfect for me ! I hope you enjoy this quite special shabby chic boutique hotel

They did a great job with the hotel pictures because the hotel is way below 4 stars. Staff is very bad and messy, nothing is sound proof so you can hear absolutely everything happening. We were not allowed to go to terrace during our stay because of a party (we were not told in advance) so no access to the nice views nor the bar/restaurant. Pool was always closed…. It was a waste of money. Dont be fooled by the nice pictures- not come to this hotel.

After booking this hotel, I became concerned by a number of reviews giving it very bad ratings. I'm so glad we decided to stay with the booking, because the hotel is EXACTLY what we wanted to experience. It's picturesque, endearing, quaint, shabby-chic, antique, boutique and altogether charming not despite of, but because of its imperfections. The reviewer who described it as "art" got it right. ||If you're wanting a new, modern, sleek, shiny, westernized hotel with all the glitz of Las Vegas, this place isn't for you. Go to the Hilton or Ritz-Carlton. If you want an authentic-feeling experience that harkens to what I imagine was old Siam around the turn of the 20th century in a terrific location, with outstanding views of the Chao Praya river, staff who are smiling, friendly and go out of their way to be helpful, book a river view room with balcony here. You won't be disappointed!

Best hotel near the river. Real characteristic place. The staff were amazing. Couldn't be more helpful and good fun. Live music on the rooftop overlooking the river. A dream stay.

We had all-in dine and free flow for New Years. It was quite expensive (30,000 THB for 4 people) so we expected a good experience. Unfortunately it wasn’t run well at all. The staff worked hard but were undertrained and chaotic. Many told us they were new on the job. We didn’t get offered any drinks except for water. The food came at random moments (sometimes only one dish appeared for 4 people and then 20 minutes nothing) and even the order of dishes was not clear. In general the staff worked hard but were clearly not managed or trained well. One of the worst dinner experiences I ever had in Bangkok. Then the hotel itself: despite the marketing of it being high class, the entrance road to the place is dark and dirty. The interior lacks maintenance and the toilets are quite basic to say the least. The rooftop band was good, but the seating was not great and not well prepared. Then it turned out that many drinks on the menu were actually not available. All in all a disappointing evening especially looking at what we paid for it. We won’t return to this place.
