My non-profit organization was having a culminating evening event at this hotel after an "Amazing Race"-type full-day activity, which I was not a part of. I wanted to join in the festivities, but was having second thoughts about coming from Mandaluyong and going to Malate on a Saturday night.
Arriving at Amelie Hotel took away all those doubts, however. I was skeptical to the venue of our party, since being non-profit kinda means you have to be doubly cheap, but we must have somehow gotten a great deal at a pretty swanky boutique hotel.
When you come in, the first thing you see are these futuristic elevators. Elevators shouldn't be the focal point of a hotel or a review, but damn are those elevators fancy as hell. The design's very Tron-like, and they even talked!
I didn't get to see much of the lobby before we had to be whisked away to the event space, which was pretty sweet. The roof deck was multi-level and though the topmost area didn't have lights (which I hope they get to install soon), they had a great view of Malate. They even had a pool! It was tiny though, more like a jacuzzi, better suited for poolside banter rather than actual physical activity.
Our food was catered by the hotel, which was a'right. They have a restaurant, which I didn't get to experience, unfortunately, but I did get to go into a room, which was beautifully decked out in minimalist chic. And for a four-person two-bed accommodation, it had a pretty good space still. I've been in tinier, likely more expensive hotel rooms.
Okay, I can't vouch for the cost of this one, but remember again that I started with the word "non-profit" here. If you have to shack it up at the Malate area, Amelie might be good for a try, if only for general gorgeousness.
