Yelp
Amerikamura / Osaka -- If you want to know where the Gen Z kids hang out in Osaka, the hippest of Japan's urban centers, this be da place, and it's just north of Dotonbori (review: https://yelp.to/KWghFYv36U). I won't speak for Jamie W., but I'm way too old to be here beyond a casual stroll and an Instagram snap or two. I don't think I'm in need of hip-hop wear or clothing that the purveyors considered vintage just because it was made before the millennium. There were also American-style fast food options if you've grown tired of okanomiyaki. I liked the funky lampposts (photo: https://yelp.to/tUiWJSCIPA). Our one bright spot was the impossibly tall soft serve cone at Shiroichi Shinsaibashi (review: https://yelp.to/KmPz9Cirw4). However, my lingering memory will always be the amount of cigarette smoke wafting through Triangle Park, the crowded concrete rest area that serves as ground zero. RELATED - Exploring Japan? Yelp
Pretty cool place and easy to find. One stop before Dotonbori- we stopped here to find the enormous cotton candy and ice cream. Recommend to come here if you are looking for these places. I have Yelp reviews on them outside of this review. This is more for the younger crowds in their 20s- music, clothing, etc.
