What a phenomenal and magical experience I had visiting the Chicago store! I am only in Chicago for a day and I made sure to check out the store! I have been collecting for 11 years and this experience of visiting the store was surreal! From the unique displays , to awesome photography opportunities, this store had it all! What a totally magical experience for myself to walk through and immerse myself is what I love most 🫶🏼🩷🥰✨ I was so excited to pick up my Chicago patch to add to my collection and spend my rewards ! I had a handful of items and with all my rewards only had to pay $1.74 which was amazing! I had so much fun here and I would recommend it to anyone visiting to come visit the AG place here in downtown ✨🫶🏼 you made my trip thank you !

Had a magical experience with my daughter and nephew. They accommodated his dinosaur during tea time. However, I’m not sure I would recommend tea time based on the menu. It is a fixed menu and they only bring out this little tiered tray with finger foods that aren’t really the most kid friendly foods, though it was delicious from the adult perspective. The kids didn’t eat much and it was $45 a person. However, the experience was great and we got to take the toy tea cups and saucers home. I would 100% still visit the cafe but probably for brunch or something where you can order off a different menu. The salon stylists were so great with my daughter. She had an awesome time!!! Worth every Penny!

This is a really cool store any little girl would enjoy. They have lots of dolls and accessories to purchase. It is very clean and beautiful on the inside. There is an escalator for an upstairs section that connects to what appears to be a small mall. Yes the prices are high but that was expected. There are a few spots they can play with the dolls so that is really nice, and my daughter enjoyed being able to touch something. Staff were helpful.

We took my niece for her 10th birthday and we were blown away! We had a reservation for lunch and it was well worth the $30 per person for the amount of food you get (1st course, main dish, dessert, and drink), plus a plate and cup for your doll to keep, a chair to borrow so your doll can eat at the table as well, and the napkin ring doubles as a hair bow for you or your doll. If you don't have a doll, you can borrow one in the cafe to eat with. She also got her doll's hair done at the salon for $22. The service overall was amazing and we had such a great time!

My daughters were over the moon with all of the dolls and accessories. It was a bit overwhelming, I was thankful to the staff’s explanation of the store layout, as well as a suggestion of a doll that looked like our child. My daughter and her doll are now inseparable and thankfully the doll seems to be great quality. We looked online for a couple of new outfits and accessories for upcoming holidays and it was disappointing to see free shipping on orders $175+.

I took my daughter and niece for an event that included painting and lunch. The meal felt really special with the tea set for the dolls and the booster seats that kept the dolls at the table. The food was good and included a mini cinnamon rolls before your meal and we got a pudding cup to end our meal. The painting part was very fun. We were taken upstairs to the very top of the watertower to the painted penguin, I think it was called. They had easels and canvases set out in your party groups, they gave you disposable aprons to protect your clothes. And the instructors were very friendly and helpful.

Google
Incredible place. Everything is designed with purpose and very well thought out! I loved the giant books indicating the different sections of the store dedicated to the corresponding dolls. The hair salon, the bakery, the café, and all other activities are very enjoyable. Definitely make a reservation for the café - you have a four course meal with your doll! I don't have a doll but was mesmerized by everything, including licensed items like Harry Potter and Disney. The ability to customize your doll comes with a price but it seems totally worth it!

I have loved American Doll since I was a little girl and the only brown girl was Ada. It’s amazing how much it has evolved. My 20 something year old daughter modeled for the brand years ago and I’m still enjoying it with my younger daughters. Today I stopped by with my 6 year old to purchase accessories. An associate by the name of Snow was simply amazing. Although I informed her that I’m a Berry member and visit often, she was still willing to assist my 6 year old with her experience. She helped her pick out the best doll and accessories. We left feeling appreciated and happy. Thank you so much Snow!!! We loved your hair and personality.

Yelp
Aaliyah!!! Thank you so much for the magical birthday celebration. I'm in my 30s and the moment my kiddo told me she wanted a Baby doll I knew I had to instill AG in my girl ASAP My children are 4 and under and this dining experience was just fabulous. Great value for the price! The finger foods were amazing, goodies for our dolls were unnecessary but so thoughtful!! My son loved the meal and said it was his favorite restaurant ever Aaliyah thank you for your kindness, being attentive to us and making us feel special. This farm family doesn't get to visit the city often and you made it a delight.

Yelp
Stopped by here casually just to look around and explore the store after loving the dolls as a kid -- the magic is still definitely here! This is a huge location, with multiple floors, distinct sections, doll hospital/salon/cafe, etc. We spent over an hour just looking at everything. Of course, shopping here would be fun but if you ever played with these dolls it's still fun and just insane to see the offerings. The displays, themes, outfits -- all amazing. My ONE complaint would be the lack of historical dolls (which I imagine is a choice by the company). I've always found the historical dolls to be the coolest part, and some of the retired, but still iconic dolls, were not even mentioned (No Felicity, no Kit, none of the friends) like at least a mention!! Although I would prefer a whole set up and their entire offerings because I've always felt they were the most beautiful and exciting dolls. Nevertheless, very fun. And they had a fun New Years display as well!

Yelp
I always wondered what was the Big Deal about these American Dolls. Why spend so much money on these ok dolls. Well that was until my nine year old niece got her hands on one of these dolls. As her favorite Auntie, I decide to spend a day downtown and visit the American Girl Place located in the Water Tower, When I walked inside I can see why it's every little girls dream to have one of these dolls. This place is magical and fun to create memories with your little girl. It's exciting to walk around and see the different dolls, cool clothes and accessories. The second floor is where you go and have lunch or weekend brunch. I was amazed watching the dolls get a new hairstyle at the American Girl Salon. It's cool to have the dolls come get pampered. A mini manicure and ear piercing station. I was in shocked to see that there was a American Doll Hospital where you could admit your doll for any injuries etc. I bit expensive but I guess it's all worth it to put a smile on your little love one's face. I like the idea of this place having so many things for you to enjoy around the store. You can spend the day of browsing around the store, dining or just having fun. I picked out so many cute outfits for my niece doll Courtney.

Yelp
Even though my kids have outgrown this place, I still absolutely love walking through it. The looks on all the excited little girls faces is reason enough! The way that the store is laid out gives a lot of space for families to take their time to decide on their purchases. They also make it somewhat museum like, because they have their decades for the dolls. There's tons to do inside of this two story store, they also have a restaurant, salon. The dolls are pricey, but I would recommend if you are going to invest in getting one, to make it a full all encompassing experience of going to the store instead of just buying it online.

Yelp
Happiest 7th birthday girl she loved her first trip and can't wait to go back with Julia for some services

Yelp
What a joyous place to visit! Just so many things to look at and the two floors with different themes at water tower place is just so cool. The hospital, pastry shop, salon, the restaurant with dinner and tea parties. The booster seats for the dolls the glitter drinks and so much more. We brought our youngest daughter here 10+ years ago for birthday (s) and it's still just as magical if not more. We returned this past Saturday with our granddaughter and loved every minute of our shopping spree, salon for her doll Molly and our tea party. The Sandwiches and sweet treats were delicious. Our waiter at the restaurant was so fun and friendly. Our hair stylist was sweet as can be talking to our girl. Although all of this was pricey it's always more than worth it. Memories that will truly last a lifetime.

Yelp
It's been a childhood dream to step foot into the American Girl Chicago store! I grew up OBSESSED with reading American Girl magazines and books, which included the historical series and the self-help non fiction books, most of which I checked out from the library or ordered through Scholastic book catalogs at school, and dreamed of having a doll since they were so expensive and I loved looking through the monthly American Girl catalogs. Now that I'm an adult, it's somewhat like walking through a Disney Store to see all the dolls that I grew up reading about and wishing I could own, along with a lot of newer additions. Among my favorites include Kit, Josefina, Samantha, and Kaya. The first floor is the historical line of dolls. The second floor is dedicated to the Truly Me dolls, which are custom dolls not part of the historical line. My one complaint--it's 2023, and there's STILL no main character Asian-American historical doll character yet. Psssst, American Girl, get in touch with my agnet and hire me for the IP project!

Yelp
This is the largest doll store I have ever seen. This is a very unique store snd so I can tell that every little would want to go here and get spoiled by their relatives to buy something for their child or grandchildren. The experience of going here is definitely unique. Two floors of fun filled items including a spa and restaurant. Have fun here girls.

Yelp
This was quite literally a dream come true! I have love American Girl since I was little. The first floor is the original dolls - it was kind of disappointing you cannot purchase Kristen or Felicity which were my favorites growing up. They did have a mini felicity from what I could find. They have such fun set ups for each doll and they have some interactive stuff too. The other thing that was disappointing is they have changed the outfits for some of the dolls and the original outfits are not available but this has to do with the company not the store. You can go upstairs where they have some newer dolls I hadn't heard of but they were still cute and have interesting stories. They also have they create your own dolls too. I loved that they have male dolls! They have so many different outfits and accessories to choose from for your dolls. There is even an min house "doctor" where you can take your doll for repairs. They even having dining and tea parties! This was such a fun experience and stroll down memory lane!

Yelp
My daughter is older now but we totally missed the American girl phenomenon in years passed. I happened across American Girl yesterday while at the Lego Store in the Water Park Plaza. I told my supervisor about it and he was thrilled as his daughter is a huge fan. She's ten and has quite the collection. They live in Seattle and the store in Seattle closed during the pandemic. Over dinner last night we hatched a plan to go today. My supervisor had already informed his daughter and she prepped him with a list. We arrived at the store and a store employee was ready with a bag. He showed her the list on his phone that his daughter had so expertly prepared and away they went shopping from one section to the next. It was like watching SuperMarket Sweep. Within mere seconds that went from one section of this very large store to another section, scooping up accessories and outfits. I watched from afar marveling in how efficient she was. There was no wasted zig or zag. She had reviewed the list and had efficiently put the items in order as to the layout of the store. What would have taken hours with a young girl in tow took less than 5 mins She even opened a till and completed the check out. He was so thrilled and even though I won't be able to see his daughter's expression when he arrives home, I have no doubt that it will be a memorable one.

Yelp
We kept seeing American girl bags so we asked someone where it was located. My daughter was thrilled. It's definitely very different than the nyc location not nearly as massive or as open/nice. Overall, it's great for little girls.

Yelp
My happy place! I have been an American Girl doll fan since I was a child and now consider myself a collector. What a fun place!

Yelp
What a trip down memory lane! I loved my American Girl doll as a kid, I had Samantha. It was great to see all the dolls on display from the originals to the newer girls and even make your own dolls. While you can still buy Samantha in the store, I was disappointed to find she did not have a full section dedicated to her. Of the older dolls I remember only Molly and Josephina did.

Yelp
Huge American Girl store so I couldn't resist. It was fun walking around looking at the dolls and accessories available. There are historical character dolls and dolls from all walks of life featured. Baby dolls and the option to create your own doll with outfits. There are playsets with musical instruments and gardening, furniture and food, pets and vehicles. This store also has a restaurant and beauty salon for girls and dolls alike. You can celebrate your birthday here and have your hair done in the same style as your doll. They also hold doll events. So many different activities to indulge the kids and children at heart.

Yelp
I remember this store being across the street from it's present Water Tower location. I did not grow up shopping for toys at this kind of place. But now that ai have girls of my own, I love this place. Unfortunately our store in Denver, Park Meadows, Colorado, never reopened after covid. She we visited this one in Oct 2021 while a visit back home. There is a salon for the girls & dolls. A cafe. It is huge. We bought a few items. I love these red keepsake boxes! Prices super high. It's fun for the girls to walk around & explore. They do give you boxes & the iconic red shopping bag still with your purchase. Not so online. Bathrooms were clean & pretty snazzy looking.

Yelp
A 5-8 year olds dream world! Add a limo or horse drawn carriage ride & you can have your very own princess experience! The staff are well informed a child friendly-we absolutely love how attentive/sensitive they are to little ones! Though older girls may enjoy it-a lot of the magic is lost-unless they are avid collectors-if so they will bring their kids back in 20 years! The restaurant menu is impressive & makes it easy for all to enjoy themselves!!

Yelp
Very kind staff and the most amazing American girl store ever! It is massive! They had all the dolls in stock! Totally worth the trip! It's so beautiful!

Yelp
This is my daughter's favorite place! There are so many dolls and accessories and clothes to choose from, it can be overwhelming. I try to keep my kid calm here and not go into a spending frenzy as it is very easy to do. The dolls are high quality and the store is amazing. The employees positioned around are sociable and there to help you spend your money.

Yelp
This place has been here a long time which says a lot. I stopped in just to see what it's all about and everyone was nice and helpful. Huge selection of items.

Yelp
We came here for my daughter's birthday. My parents sent her a gift card and bought a doll for her by phone. Everything was extremely easy to manage. You make a reservation online and choose the prize pack for the birthday girl. That's it! We showed up early and did a little shopping. We picked up the new doll and then went to the restaurant. They checked us in, gave my daughter a crown to wear (and keep!) and then she went to pick out a chair for her doll. Off to the table where we chose what we wanted from the menu. After lunch, they brought out the cake with candles and sang to her and brought her prize pack. Definitely the easiest birthday party ever!

Yelp
I made an online order from AG. The order didn't look like it went through, so waited to see if I got an email or went on my credit card. Placed another order which went through. Later, within 15 min I received noticed for two orders. I immediately called, they said they couldn't cancel the order. I then talked to someone who said it was cancelled. A week later both orders were shipped to me. So I called and they waived the fee for returns. I returned the whole order. After a couple weeks, still no credit on my credit card. So I called with the return label info. All three packages were returned as of Dec 4 . Still no credit on my credit card. I just called today Dec 29th,had to give the all the numbers again. They confirmed the dates, I already knew the packages were received. Then they asked me what I returned. Should that not had been already stated? Finally they said a credit was issued but need to wait for another week. I would never ever return via usps or ups. I should NOT have had to wait 6 weeks for a credit. Unfortunately my granddaughters love AG but I will definitely dissuade them from wanting more. AWFUL customer service. I know it's Xmas but this was all done way before the holiday.

Yelp
I'm not usually one to talk up brands, but I can't help it with American Girl. They have been part of my life since I was a young girl and I promised myself, no matter how old I was when I made it out there, I'd come to this store. I may be 29, but my dream came true, finally! While the items aren't exactly cheap, I find they are long lasting and the brand has basically guaranteed years of fun. I know the only problem over long time use I found was my cousin over brushed hers hair and over time the hair did become permanently frizzy and not nice looking. That took years tho, so I don't really think that is much of an issue. I love how over the years they have become more diverse in not only creating more custom features for the "create your own" feature (which you can take advantage of in store, creating your own doll on site) but also in the premade dolls that have books and storylines. Not only have they expanded their skin colors and hair textures but also issues like hearing aids, wheel chairs and even bald female dolls. I grew up reading not only the books about the dolls, but once I grew out of dolls I remember buying American Girl books similar to the ones they had at this store. They seem kind of lame now but honestly helped and glad I had them. Overall, I love American Girl and am glad I stopped by.

Yelp
Such a cool experience! My daughter loved it! Definitely recommend for 6-9 year old kids who love their AG doll.

Yelp
MY RATING: 4.5 STARS. My first time at American Girl Chicago, it was great! a few cons though, I was there to get me and my 2 dolls ( Tenny and Maryellen ) hair done and window shop. For medium length dark blonde, get the fancy fishtail. Tenny has somewhat frizzy hair so they couldn't do the fishtail, but our hairstyle of the month, bubble braids, were great! Hair gems are worth it too - 5$ for 20 + reusable. This brings us to our Pros list. - Wide variety of shopping & hair options. - Quick hairstyling - Doll washroom holders. - A book with each doll - Beautiful hairstyling - Birthday room. We peeked in. Okay, there's not much I didn't like, but the price. 74 dollars for a BRAID?? It turned out great, but I don't think that it needs 70$. Overly expensive. Great service Cons: - EXTREME Overpricing

Yelp
My daughter and I had such an amazing time. I recommend making reservations for your child before you visit for the salon

Yelp
The store appears to be going through a lower level reorganization. There are multiple displays repeating what you've seen in other places throughout this oversized store. The dolls are expensive as are the accessories, but the displays are often eye-catching and the array of products adorable. My issue w the store (as I have been inside multiple times) is again we have, this time, three employees standing around chatting and a sole woman at the register who was being held up by two women, together, who decided to fill out all their home address and contact info. I stood and waited and waited and finally asked the three employees who were obviously not busy if someone could ring up my sale. "No" they couldn't. It seems ludicrous that the register is most often attended to by a single person who never asks for backup. I left without making a purchase...(they didn't seem to care)

Yelp
What a great time! Loved coming here withbmy sister while in our 20s - it was so fun to walk around and reminisce on our childhood. While we didn't buy anything, it was neat to see how AG has transformed throughout the years. A really engaging and clean store!
google avatar

Yelp
I admit, going to a doll - toy store was not my idea of having fun. Once you enter this glorious place with all different themed areas within this huge store, all I can say was OMG. This was a sight to see such as over the top doll place. There were beauty salons and hospitals for these dolls. I was amazed a long line to dine with your dolls. Each doll and accessories can make a big impact in your wallet but I guess it will make your little one feel like they won the jack pot. I would recommend this place to anyone who already owns or planning to own a doll.
google avatar

Yelp
It's exactly as I remembered it from my childhood! It was fun to take my kids back to a place I remember so fondly. We dined with our AG doll and purchased a few items. The food is subpar but worth the experience of reliving a beloved childhood memory.

Yelp
My daughter has been begging for an American Girl doll for months now and at first I thought there was no way in hell I was going to spend over $100 on a damn doll just for it to be forgotten about after a week. So our compromise was if she saved up for it, she can get it. That way she can see what hard work and patience can get you. So we planned a whole day out of it. We surprised her and took her on her birthday. I scheduled an appointment at the cafe first for lunch. Food was about $16 - $23 for an entree that consisted of burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Kids meal was $19. Pretty pricey but we were prepared to pay a pretty penny on this special day. The food was actually really good. I ordered the burger, my husband the chicken sandwich, and my daughter the pepperoni pizza. Our server was very friendly and everyone made sure to greet my daughter happy birthday, which made her feel pretty special. Also, if you dont have an AG doll yet, you get to borrow one so that she can join you at the table. Next, it was time to pick out a doll that resembled my daughter. You can either pick a "Truly Me" doll from several different dolls with different features such as eye color, complexion, hair texture and color, and facial features like freckles. These dolls dont have a name, so you get to name them. They are identified by a number. We found one that resembled my daughter, and of course it was out of stock. Boo! So we went with our next option. We looked at the "Be Forever" dolls which are a selection of dolls that already have a name, personality, and background. They also come with a book about them. We went with Nanea, who is a girl from Hawaii. She was perfect! Hair, complexion, eyes all resembled my daughter's features. She was the one! After purchasing the doll, we had to hurry back upstairs for our 12:45 hair appointment for the doll. You get to choose from different hairstyles and braids for your doll. Styles range from $10-$20. The stylists give you tips on how to keep your dolls hair nice and smooth and how to properly care for their hair. I thought that was awesome. Who wants a frizzy doll with tangles? There was one girl who brought in a doll and her hair was a damn mess! But lo and behold, the stylists were able to tame that dolls hair back into shape! I love that there are so many options and things to do here. Its 2 floors of bliss if you are a little girl. (A parent's nightmare though because of the price.) They have clothes for the dolls that match so that child and doll will be twinning. They encompass all personalities and hobbies that all little girls are into. Although pricey, if you plan and save up, the experience is awesome. My daughter had tears of joy when she realized that the day finally came to buy her doll. Every little girl deserves to feel that way.

Yelp
My daughter had us in here two days straight. It's a cute little setup. It was $25/pp for our lunch and they gave a cup little teacup and saucer for the doll. It's not anything spectacular but the kids enjoy it.

Yelp
My daughter saved her money and wanted to go to the American Girl Place. We planned a trip to Chicago and headed that way. This is a fun and magical place. I do realize it is costly, but it was great fun. I knew my way around (that's another story on why, but I did). So when we came in, I showed her the dolls of different parts of history. Then we headed upstairs to check out the Truly Me dolls and the design your own stations. We found a Truly me that was exactly what she wanted. Still we walked around and checked out the bitty baby section and the clothing items. It really was fun. We didn't try out the pierced ears or the hair salon. And, we may do the restaurant another time. My complaint is trying to find help. Since I knew my way around, we were okay. But I did have one question and trying to find someone who was willing to help was a problem. There were some workers moving quickly and when I would try to get their attention, they were too busy to notice me. I finally got someone to stop walking long enough to ask her a question. She was helpful and gave the info we needed, but it was clear that she wanted to get back to her fast walking as quickly as she could so as soon as I said thank you, whoosh, she was off! But - we had fun and I still give it four stars for having that fun and for hoping that the inability to get attention was a fluke.

Yelp
If you are here, you probably are already incredibly familiar with the dolls, accessories, etc. We've been here several times for tea, lunches, birthdays, shopping, etc. it's a dreamland for little girls. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. My oldest daughter has learned the importance of saving money thanks to the dolls and accessories that she loves so much. Food is good in the cafe although pricey. If you are celebrating a birthday, I recommend doing the birthday. You get an entire cake, which they will cut up so you can have cake with your meal and take home all of the extra. We did tea during our last trip. The tea times are late in the afternoon so you will need to eat lunch beforehand- at least if your kids become hangry quickly. But the options at tea are fun, delicious, and filling.

Yelp
My daughters were SO excited to visit the American Girl store (and honestly, I was too LOL). We had a lot of fun! They had a lot of displays for the dolls and the store is overall very big. We had a good time! We didn't end up eating or visiting the salon but next time we go we will end up checking those out! My daughter picked out a bitty baby for her birthday and takes her everywhere we go now.

Yelp
Meh. Not as cool as the old location, and it's nowhere near as warm or as welcoming. My fiancee and I stopped in at my request while we were exploring Water Tower Place, as I had yet to go to this location even though I know it's been there for years. I'd gone dozens of times as a kid, and looked forward to the nostalgia. Well, there was literally no worker there when we walked in. Not one. No one to greet you, to help assist you, nothing. We were there a good 20 minutes before we saw another person. Seems kind of dumb when the entrance is wide open and leads to a mall, in my opinion. Security would probably help, especially since it's approaching the holidays. I do appreciate how much the line has grown since I was a kid- there's diabetic pumps and hearing aids and bald dolls and I think it's cool how much more inclusive it is now. I give them that. We go downstairs where still no one asks if we need anything, though we got a rude look from an older female employee. Maybe it was because we didn't have children with us? Again, seems dumb. Christmas is coming and people without kids can shop for children. Everything was closed and sad looking. The decor was nice, as it looked like a little town. I knew the cafe would be closed since it was after tea time, but everything else was closed too. The sweet shop, the piercing place, the hair salon. No one was anywhere. It was creepy, especially given all the dolls. We didn't even bother with the lowest level. I'm sure it's great still if you have kids, or if you go during the lunchtime craze, but if you're there at weirder hours be prepared to be ignored in a creepy ghost town alone with the dolls.

Yelp
Loved this place growing up and was so special to take my niece there. She loved it and is begging to go back! Such a memorable experience!

Yelp
I grew up with a deep love and appreciation for the American Girl Place and all it had to offer. My memories were full of the original store off of Chicago Avenue before it moved to the Water Tower Place in 2008. Fast forward to 2021, I finally got around to visiting their location at the mall. I was not disappointed one bit! I did miss the footage of the original store - but It was neat to see how they are keeping the American Girl tradition alive. The store is still as beautiful and has many similarities from the original one. The staff was very friendly. They even let me relive my glory days by welcoming me into the cafe. The future of American Girl dolls is something that excites me to watch. We may grow up but American Girl is forever.

Yelp
I wish I could say that we visited with some little kids, but my sisters and I always go here when we're in Chicago because it's super cute and oh-so nostalgic. They have fun displays, a beautiful cafe in the back, and new items all the time. We grew up getting their catalogues and flipping through every page, so it still feels exciting to be there in person! Definitely take a little daughter or niece here, but be prepared to walk out with an expensive doll - hah!

Yelp
The feeling is very confusing so while the place is amazing and every little girl dream ( I have a 8 year older daugther ) I believe it's also a trap for the parents . Imagine walking into a place to buy a doll and needing up spending close to $300 !!!!!! . They have spa salon for the dolls , yes spa with services from hair services to mask . Imagine paying for a mask for a doll !!!!!!! My daugther had a great time but I'm on the other hand was just confused between the joy for my daugther and pain for my wallet .

Yelp
We brought my daughter here for her Birthday in December. She had the most amazing experience, as did we. It was a Saturday and it was jam packed so we didn't have the best time trying to look at the merchandise. Other than that the experience was great! In the bistro the staff were all so amazing to my daughter and the manager also paid us a visit. The food was great with lots of different options. The staff came to sing happy birthday which was sweet the cake was so pretty and tasted absolutely delicious. They even give small cups of ice cream on the side. My daughter and her friend got their dolls hair done and the staff was so friendly and quick. They made the experience so fun really involving the kids. All the staff that saw my daughter made sure to say Happy Birthday which made her feel so special. Such an amazing day at this American girl doll store!!!!!

Yelp
I am an adult collector of American Girl and visited the store on 9/21 to drop off my Caroline Abbott doll for some restoration work at the hospital. The doll doctor Alexis was SO helpful, she made the whole visit worth it. She was very engaging, funny, and helpful and honestly I'd go back just to chat with her again. She went the extra mile to make sure I was happy. The store is amazingly magical and I was just in awe of all the beautiful displays. Every worker was so helpful and you really feel welcome. Next time I'm in Chicago, I know where I'm visiting.

Yelp
I always have fun at an American Girl Doll store....I don't think I'll ever grow up. I love the history of each doll and how their era is portrayed using them. Strolling through the store and stopping at each display never gets old. And now they have a camper doll with all of her camping things....at 61, I may need one of these to join my rockin the 70s Julie doll. If you have a young girl in your life, be sure and stop in. Then you can stroll down the Magnificent Mile and visit the candy stores...stay young!!!

Yelp
I brought my six year old daughter and her doll to the salon today and boy was I impressed. My daughter was able to choose a style for her and her doll from a photo menu and the prices were reasonable. My daughter is biracial and has thick, very curly hair and the stylist let me know they could leave it curly or flat iron it if she'd like to match her doll. My daughter chose the flat iron option. The stylist, Hazel was amazing. She was so kind and did an amazing job on my daughter's hair. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the stylist that worked on the doll but she was amazing as well. I would definitely recommend this special experience!

Yelp
In the 90's when I was a kid, my sister and I got our first American Girl Dolls-I had Samantha. The last time I visited the store, it was still standing, separate from Water Tower Place. I saw on Tik Tok that some older gals (like me) were going back to the Cafe to relive the fun they had when they were a child, so I asked my best friend to go there with me on my Birthday-this time we got to drink mimosas! The server was very thoughtful, and had major expertise, she made it very special for us. The food at the cafe is kind of small, but it's a cute treat for the kiddos. I am vegan, and they were very accommodating. I had the impossible burger- it was very filling, and tasty. They even gave me vegan sherbet for desert, and sang me happy birthday! The area before you get to the AG Cafe, looks like a cute street with stores off it, like a coffee shop where we ordered a drip coffee for $2, the salon, and the book store. There were some cute spots for photos by the Love Shack Fancy pop up area. Even though it was a ton of fun, I must say that the new store doesn't hold the same exact magic as the old one- I was disappointed to see that the historical dolls were not on display. I had really hoped to see each doll with all their accessories behind the glass like I used to when I was a child. I think it would be a treat to permanently reincorporate the vintage doll display to show the history of AG, and to encapsulate AG roots, like a museum for girls of all ages to see. Overall AG Doll store is a magical place, and I feel so blessed I got to visit once more.

Yelp
My daughter is 7 and in their target age range but my entire family loves going to the store including my husband and our 13 year old son. The displays are beautiful and being able to see, feel and interact with the toys is wonderful experience. Not sure what the plan is with the lower level but hoping they keep it- the architecture is breathtaking. If you're planning a trip, be sure to make an appointment with a Personal Shopper. It's free and they provide in depth knowledge on the brand, dolls and store and can offer suggestions and help with gift ideas. We always book with Ana and she's amazing!

Yelp
We went in today and purchased 2 dolls. Still the same overall sentiment and although the 2 or 3 ladies in the doll salon are exceptional, the rest of ladies/gents on the floor are NOT. Way too many staffers just talking to each other, no special treatment to my girls who btw- were both wearing their AG custom bday shirts from last trip. Not one HAPPY BIRTHDAY offered. WAKE up AG, those little kiddies ARE your CORE customers! I wouldn't spend $250+ per visit to have them not get any special attention. The only words offered to them were to fix their mask (which they were wearing!) And the reward system in one word, SUCKS. Might as well not have it the way it is tracked and expires quickly. Poor management, poor staffing, waaaaay overpriced

Yelp
Late post: March 2018. Since I bought my niece an American Doll over 10 years ago, my daughter MUST have one. I was mentally prepared to buy a $100 doll and accessories starting with $10+. My daughter saw the first American Doll she saw and said she's the one. I told her to first look around and play to find the perfect one because it's highly unlikely I will buy another one soon. After being in that store for over and hour, she still decided on the first doll she saw. I also bought a special carrying case to maintain its store bought quality. I spent money on the doll salon because she needed earrings and her nails done. My daughter also wanted to change the doll's hairstyle to a braided one. There's a beauty menu and particular styles for each doll. I had to cancel the restaurant with a view because my daighter was already full from the jellybeans and chocolate bar from the stand outside the restaurant. Not sure if we will go back just for the dining experience. I would assume for it to be overpriced and would leave me hungry.
